The Goal of the Convention

962.3Question: Is the goal of the convention to reveal Malchut in our unity?

Answer: Yes, this will give us the beginning of the revelation of the common Kli. It does not matter what the action is: reception for the sake of bestowal or bestowal for the sake of bestowal. In both cases, we work with the full Malchut but at different levels of intensity.

Which Prayer Is Stronger?

506.5

There is not a single prayer since the world was created through the end of the world, that is similar to another whatsoever (The Ari).

Question: People have been coming together around prayer. Today, “prayer” is the most searched word on Google and everywhere else. Can you explain why every prayer is unique even if they sound similar, with the same words and prayer books?

Answer: It stems from the person’s desire, their aspiration, their urgent need.

Question: Even if they read it from a prayer book?

Answer: Even if they read from a prayer book. They do not see the words.

Question: So it comes from somewhere else?

Answer: It comes from the heart.

Question: So every time we read the same word, we read it in a completely different way?

Answer: Yes, differently.

Question: If I realize that every prayer is unique, what changes in me?

Answer: You read it differently each time. Every day a person is different. And so even when repeating the same words and the same paragraphs, they do not experience the same thing. Each time it moves forward in a spiral.

Question: If I realize: “Yes, every prayer is unique,” do I change then?

Answer: Yes.

Question: So I put a different power into the prayer?

Answer: In any case, you change.

Question: Does the answer from the Creator come only to me or not?

Answer: The answer from the Creator comes only to you. But in order to feel, understand, and accept it, you need to learn how to do that.

Comment: You often say that this answer should not be shared with others, and you should not say: “I received such and such an answer,” and so on.

Answer: Yes.

Question: Why, can you explain?

Answer: Because a person has their own personal, cherished desire; they want to realize it, and other people can interfere with that, even their closest ones.

Question: So if I say it, could there be an evil eye on me?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Is there such a concept as the evil eye?

Answer: There is envy. That is the evil eye.

Question: Your advice?

Answer: My advice is to keep your aspirations to yourself and direct them only to the Creator.

Question: There is a written prayer and there is my prayer, spoken from the heart. Which is stronger, which is better?

Answer: In the end, the written prayer that you read and live through is still better.

Raise Me from the Dust

236.01Question: It seems to me that there are states that are close to the truth, when dissatisfaction and anger arise because my friends do not care about my participation, my needs, or my efforts, to the point of despair, and I feel the group does not need me, that I only bring harm, and it would be better for me to leave and not get in the way. What counterarguments can I prepare in such states?

Answer: No counterarguments are necessary. You should say that you understand that you are the lowest and most worthless, but you still want the Creator to help you, and you want to rise toward connection with Him.

And the fact that you are low and worthless, unable to do or achieve anything, is something you know yourself. That is exactly what is meant by “Raise me from the dust.” It is the person who feels this way about their state that the Creator raises.

Question: While being in the lowest state, can I ask for love from my group? At the same time, I also want to love them even more than they love me.

Answer: That is how you are praying for them. This is a very good prayer when you ask for others and yourself as well.

Questions about Spiritual Work—174

281.02Question: What gives the feeling of being before the Giver?

Answer: From the fact that you bestow to Him and He bestows to you.

Question: What is the difference between spiritual and corporeal shame?

Answer: Spiritual shame is not based on egoism, while corporeal shame is based precisely on it.

Question: Does shame help me not to ask for myself?

Answer: Yes, correction for myself is the very last thing. Look what is written in the prayer book (Siddur): “for the righteous, for others, and then for us.” Requests for ourselves are made last.

Question: How does praying for a friend reveal the importance of the Creator?

Answer: Very simply, because it is all part of one system.

Question: Should spiritual shame before the Giver be present at every degree, or is it a one-time, complete restriction when a sufficient measure of correction is reached?

Answer: There is no sufficient measure of correction. It increases more and more.

Question: What is the difference between shame and fear before the Creator?

Answer: It is a very small difference. You could say they are practically the same.

Prayer for the Friend

237The one who prays for a friend receives an answer first (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 454, “He Who Prays for His Friend“).

Praying for a friend from the depths of the heart comes when you feel him with all your heart, sense his problem, and turn to the Creator. And although the prayer comes from your heart, it is as if it rises from the heart of a friend.

But if you have not connected with his Kelim, with his desires and feelings as if they were in you, you cannot pray for him. This is natural.

Question: What is the punishment for not asking for a friend?

Answer: Even if there is no punishment, the fact that you do not ask for him is already a punishment.

Question: What is the connection between shame and prayer for a friend?

Answer: Prayer can be without shame and the opposite can happen. But for us, the most important thing is if a shortcoming in someone in something is revealed to us, and we can help him. This should be our very first task.

Work Above Reason

255And I don’t have time to think with which intent I study or pray, but I will simply observe the actions without any special intent.

At that time, he will reenter the holy work because now he wishes to be God’s servant without any preconditions (Rabash, Article 19, “You Stand Today, All of You”).

Question: This seems like working below reason. How can I check if I am working above reason?

Answer: According to what Rabash writes, it is impossible to check. We need to strive to rise in our work above reason in order to feel what this reason is and to dwell in faith above it. But the reason itself will remain at the level that the Creator has set for us.

Question: So will this not manifest externally in any way? Is this an internal work?

Answer: Yes, of course.

The Level Required to Reach Spirituality

938.04Question: From time to time you feel you are not corrected; you feel unwilling to unite, but then you overcome it. Obviously, this is not enough, and there must be some level of a request for correction. What should this level be to reach spirituality?

Answer: This level is the awareness of the evil of egoism that is revealed in you, and you understand that you must hate it to such an extent that the main thing for you is to get rid of it. That is difficult work, and it takes a lot of time until a person achieves such an attitude toward his ego and nature.

Question: What should I direct my hatred at, my unwillingness to unite with friends or my desire to receive?

Answer: At all manifestations of egoism, i.e., receiving for your own sake. To reach such a state, you should always think about it and digest it until you feel that you hate your egoism and are ready to do anything to get rid of it.

If you talk about it in the ten, you will gradually begin to understand how you should treat your egoism, which is against the Creator, against all of creation, and against all of you together and every one of you. You must accumulate all the hatred for it together and wish to push it out of yourself. All this must manifest in your appeal to the Creator.

Request or Demand

95Question: There is a form of addressing the Creator through a request and through a demand. What does it mean to address through a demand?

Answer: It is the same as through a request except that a person feels they have the right to demand something from the Creator. This is a very rare form of addressing, but it happens.

I cannot imagine that we are already in a position to demand anything. A demand is much stronger than a request. A demand occurs when you have no option but to demand and not simply ask.

What Does the Creator Expect?

233Question: When the Creator sends illumination from the next degree, what kind of reaction is He expecting?

Answer: He expects His student to immediately rise to this degree and begin working on it in order to quickly establish a complete connection with the Creator.

Question: Through what means does this ascent happen? If there is a desire to analyze everything in the mind and try to understand what the Creator wants to reveal, is this the right approach?

Answer: Yes, this is also correct. But the most important thing is to see what your friends desire and try to help them with that.
