When Everyone Feels Only Themselves

232.08Question: You wrote about what a broken heart is in your blog. I liked where you said: “To ‘break’ the heart means to attain that same point in which we were once as a single, unified picture of Malchut and then were shattered into numerous parts.”

Do I understand correctly that the feeling of being separated from all other people is called my broken heart?

Answer: Yes. Only when these two sentences are linked together, they do not sound quite right.

We all come from the same state—from one heart, from the same desire. This desire then broke into many parts. This action is called the shattering. Afterward we each exist in our own separate egoistic desire.

It is called a broken heart when everyone feels only himself and not the whole global system in which the Creator is located.

The Eternal Task of the Kabbalist

961.2Question: At this stage you are the next transitional link after Rabash. Is this why it is desirable for you to do many things during your lifetime before you leave the world in this representation?

Answer: Yes, it is desirable to do as much as possible.

All the same, we can say that I laid the foundations for the system of correction all over the world with groups, books, archives, lectures, and methods so much so that my students can continue it all, and they are doing it. Practically, apart from our morning lessons, they do everything else on their own.

Therefore, I can say that when necessary, I can leave without any worries. Of course, I would like to see the complete correction of the world because every Kabbalist wants to see it. But I do not predict such things.

You cannot imagine how much a Kabbalist does not care if it happens to him today or in a couple of years or what will happen at all. It does not matter at all. The main thing is to move everyone as close as possible to complete correction until the very last minute.

Why Is It Hard for Westerners to Settle in Israel

419Question: Why is it very difficult for Europeans and representatives of Western civilization in general to be absorbed in Israel?

Answer: The cultures are different. Israel is an Eastern European, not a Western culture. After all, the principle of Jewish life—collectivism, mutual responsibility, mutual empathy—has nothing to do with the European, and even more so with the American way of life.

Of course, we can live and prosper there, but to truly adapt to their society, to feel comfortable in it, we cannot. However, people who settle there, the second or third generation, find it very difficult to settle here – they must go through a period of adaptation again. Therefore, they create their own communities.

In addition, the language, local culture, and local relations are quite warped here. After all, Israel is a very peculiar country, with a huge bureaucracy, security problems, and uncorrected “collective farm” that came in large numbers from all countries and cannot unite and melt into a single whole.

Of course, for Westerners who come from complete comfort, leaving huge villas, swimming pools, and everything else, European culture, which they were hooked on and which they consider to be the greatest and most advanced, it is very difficult here.

So, I understand them, but they have nowhere to go. They can go to other countries, but I do not see much of a future for them there. European Jewry has no future. This is the gradual development of Nazism, which will put more and more pressure on them.

As we know from the experience of Germany, Jews can live there until the very last moment, and then also justify their persecutors. History repeats itself. It will not be different in Europe this time.

And in America too. It is just that America is too big, too divided, and too layered. But even there mutual hatred will rise because seven to eight million Jews have settled between Latin Americans, African Americans, and Europeans and they are like a bone in their throat. The little bone in the throat still feels bigger than anything else.

Therefore, everything is going to escalate because it is through aggravation that we can solve this problem, that is, realize why such hatred arises.

In past centuries this problem also existed, but it was not recognized. First, there were religious conditions for it, then financial ones. Even though they still exist today, in principle, humanity should clarify everything for itself. This is an eternal problem that will not go away.

We, the Kabbalists, must spread our vision. As a result, sooner or later the world will know the reason for such relationships and what they lead to.

Self-Expression

559Comment: You said that, in principle, a person who is studying Kabbalah does not have to participate in public actions that the group participates in to unite the masses, but he initiate creating some platforms where people unite.

My Response: The fact is that there are people who can be leaders, and there are those who can only be assistants. Everyone should find their place, but still take part in dissemination.

Everyone should participate as much as possible in what they are capable. Otherwise, you do not express yourself. After all, in this case you will have no vessel, the feeling of the next degree.

Question: Why is it important that all participants express themselves from time to time, both quiet and active ones?

Answer: It is because figuring out the love of friends for each other contributes to their rapprochement. For this, there is a clear instruction from Kabbalists.

The Power of the Collective

945Question: When an example is given in a Kabbalistic group, you begin to understand from it that you are not completing something. Can a Kabbalistic group set an example for the world? Will people be able to feel that we have an equal relationship and be drawn to this?

Answer: They will be drawn based on two forces. One force is suffering, which pushes from behind, and the second force is good, which pulls forward.

It all depends on the strength of the environment acting on everyone. It is in the power of the collective to make it so that a person will not be able to think differently. He will not be able to because he is a single small being in the collective field. And if this field begins to act correctly on him, he will be obliged to obey.

To enter the collective or disconnect from it is a person’s free choice. And when he enters, the environment already affects him, and he rides along with everyone without any problems.

The Power of Unity and the Powerlessness of Separation

264.01All our work consists in correcting the spiritual vessel, which is called the soul of the first man Adam HaRishon. The Creator created this common desire, and then shattered it into many pieces. And now in each of us there is a tiny particle of that common soul.

We are called human, that is, “sons of Adam,” because we come out of the desire, which is called Adam HaRishon. Our task is to unite our disconnected, distant, separated desires back into one desire through our efforts.

Of course a lot of work is required here because all these particles have separated and moved away from each other due to the differences in their forms. And how is it possible to glue together completely different desires? We begin to examine according to what qualities it is possible to combine one desire with another until we get a single whole in which everything is connected together.

And the more desires this common desire absorbs, the more it feels and reveals the upper force that created it.

Therefore all our actions should be aimed at connection. This determines the whole attitude to life, to the Creator, to the friends, and to oneself and one’s state. With each of my actions, thoughts, and desires, I strive to push the connection forward in order to further bring together and unite different desires and turn them into one single common desire for mutual bestowal.

All private desires are broken and do not want to connect. The Creator did this on purpose to give us the opportunity to feel the difference between a broken desire and a whole one. And due to this we begin to attain the Creator as the advantage of light from darkness.

The Creator divided the common desire into billions of opposite parts, and then He helps us, at our request, put them together and make up for each other. When we combine all the pros and cons together, we feel how powerful a united desire is compared to the weakness and insignificance of a shattered one.

On this difference of potentials—between plus and minus, between connection and division—we will feel the full power and depth of creation, we will attain the intention and work of the Creator, and ourselves.

The Paradox of a Person’s Development

707It has already been explained that a corporeal essence is separated and divided by the force of motion and remoteness of location, and a spiritual essence is separated and divided by disparity of form.

According to the measure of disparity of form from one another, so is the measure of the distance between them. If the disparity of form comes to complete oppositeness, from one extreme to the other, they become completely severed and distinct (Baal HaSulam, The Study of the Ten Sefirot, Part 1, “Inner Observation,” Chapter 3, Item 15).

Question: In our world, we are completely opposite to the qualities of the Creator, and therefore we do not feel Him at all. Is there any other reality in which we are even more opposite to the Creator? Or is this the most extreme point?

Answer: Man by his nature is absolutely opposite to the Creator. Out of all types of desires—inanimate, vegetative, and animate, there is nothing more distant from the Creator than man. Therefore, in the future, as a result of his correction, there will be no object closer to the Creator.

Question: Man is the most distant in qualities from the Creator. Is this called “our world”? Is this the most remote condition or are there even worse ones?

Answer: No, there are no worse ones.

Question: In the process of our development, are we distancing from the Creator or getting closer to Him?

Answer: We are getting closer by distancing. The fact is that we see ourselves constantly distancing from the Creator, that is, not similar to Him. At the same time, we have the opportunity to become like Him. This is the paradox of our development.

In principle when we develop naturally, we feel ourselves further and further away from the Creator as the will to receive in us becomes greater and greater. But, on the other hand, there is an opportunity to come closer to Him. As it is said: “Anyone who is greater than his friend, his inclination is greater than him.”

The Path to the Creator Lies Through a Broken Heart

236.02Question: You write in your blog that in Kabbalah the path to the Creator lies through a broken heart when we discover how opposite we are to Him. It is from this abyss of falling, when we call on the Creator, that we discover that we have points of contact with Him.

But the Creator is the quality of bestowal and love. How exactly from the point of falling, from a broken heart, do I suddenly have contact with Him?

Answer: A person begins to understand that in his state he cannot do anything, but only to bring himself to complete subjugation to the Creator. After all, he has no other possibilities to act. Then he turns with a request, with a prayer to the Creator, so that He would bring him closer to Him.

Comment: Yes, if I consider the Creator as some kind of upper force that helps me, then this is understandable. But if we consider Him as the quality of bestowal, which is manifested in me…

My Response: This is one of the qualities of the Creator, which is partially manifested in a person.

Comment: It is interesting that at the same time both joy and despair are manifested in me.

My Response: Of course, it can be both joy and despair: despair from your own strength, but joy from the fact that at the same time you are getting closer to the Creator.
