On The Way To Attaining Love

Laitman_036Question: There is no true love in the relations between a man and a woman in our world. How do a man and a woman attain real perfect love in the spiritual world?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah helps us tune in to the understanding of the relationships between men and women. But today, when the world is in such a mess, it is hard to speak about how the wisdom of Kabbalah can have an immediate effect on improving these relations.

If a person believes that the wisdom of Kabbalah immediately will help him buy a house, start a family, live a comfortable life, and turn his life into paradise, I don’t want him to have any false hopes.

Humanity needs to correct itself according to a certain process in order to attain that. In this respect, the fate of Kabbalists isn’t simple since it is the reflection of all of the problems in society. Although a wise, normal, healthy Kabbalist understands how he should manage his life correctly, he constantly encounters problems that he receives from all of humanity. Therefore, his life isn’t easy until all of humanity is corrected.

Question: What should a man and a woman yearn for in order to attain true love?

Answer: They must build a family that is based on accurate Kabbalistic principles, but this is relevant only for people who truly are dedicated to the spiritual path, who understand that they can focus their relationships within the family on the attainment of a spiritual goal.

If they can and are willing to do so and understand that their ego constantly will stand in their way in the family, everywhere, at absolutely every moment, I would give them my blessing since, if that’s so, they are going to discover a wonderful opportunity to enter quickly into the upper world, but they must work in order to attain that.

Returning To The Soviet Past

laitman_434Question: American sociologists and political scientists claim that the more sanctions America imposes on Russia, the more it will want to return to its Soviet past. According to a referendum in Russia, even young people dream of returning to the socialist past. In Germany, 57% of the Germans replied that they gladly would return to East Germany and not live in capitalist Germany.

Answer: A capitalist regime has no soul. There is nothing in it for the soul while during the Soviet regime, there was a soul since they created an atmosphere and conditions under which people felt friendly relationships between them, not necessarily because they chose to.

Question: Many chose the answer in the referendum: “Living in those times was more interesting and hearty,” and it turns out that this is more important to people than money.

Answer: Of course, although they all wanted to break through the iron curtain and experience life in the west, if the Soviet regime had allowed people to exit freely, they would have found out that more people would enter the country than leave it and that there was no reason to worry.

Question: Do you believe that there was some influence of the spiritual Light on the Soviet society?

Answer: People couldn’t develop any other way, so they developed in this direction. It is the same when it comes to ballet dancing, which actually became more outstanding in Russia than anywhere else in the world thanks to this influence, but today it is meaningless.

But it is impossible to return to the past now, and there is also no reason to regret that. We must see things realistically. It is impossible to dip into the same water twice that is flowing in a river, and it is impossible to rebuild what belongs to the past because humanity has changed.

We should realize that, back then, people had a craving for spiritual fellowship, even in the kitchen with a piece of salted fish, potatoes, and a guitar. This brought people together and gave them a feeling of community and being human.

At the same time, we also were aimed against something, and that is also very important. If we could aim against our egoism today so that we could realize what we can attain and reveal by its correction, it would be a great achievement, of course.

We can build a new society based on people’s attraction to this lifestyle. We should think only of how to offer humanity the idea of creating such a society that could exist and be built on more sublime spiritual principles, which is indeed a state that would satisfy people on all levels. Everyone has this dream, and what is more, as time goes by, more than half of the world’s population has joined this idea.

Question: Does this mean that you are talking about creating a kind of a kitchen where people will sit and think about how to overcome their egoism?

Answer: We must integrate musical instruments, songs, and a heartfelt attitude toward our general unity in the same discussion circles and workshops that we are trying to establish. Later, we will need to ascend from those circles and develop to our next levels.

Two Versions Of World War III

laitman_293Question: Is World War III inevitable?

Answer: It is indeed inevitable, but it can take place on two totally different levels, on the spiritual level or on the corporeal level.

It all depends on how we manage the process of our development. On the spiritual level, it will take place in the form of internal changes.

This actually will be the greatest internal war against our egoism. However, if we begin to think lightly of our internal correction, there will be an external war that will pressure us until we change our egoism and reach the same result, but with the price of large external physical losses.

Building A Fence In Jerusalem

Laitman_633_3Comment: The chairperson of the Labor party Mr. Isaac Hertzog suggested separating East Jerusalem from West Jerusalem with a security fence. He said that Jews did not pray for places like Shuafat and Isawiya in East Jerusalem when they asked God to enable them to return to Jerusalem.

Answer: I understand that they didn’t pray for such neighbors. I realize that there is nothing good in having Arab neighbors as long as the Jews don’t correct themselves. So first and foremost we Jews have to correct ourselves, and as long as it doesn’t happen, we need to build fences. The world is returning to its starting point, to fencing cities like with the Chinese wall, etc.

Question: Does this mean that you are in favor of building fences between different parts of Jerusalem?

Answer: Absolutely not. We should only build fences around our state and not inside it. The fences should protect the state from immigrants who are trying to cross the border from Lebanon, Syria, and Jordan in any way they can.

Of course, we should fence Israel in the best possible way as we did in the Gaza strip, that makes things much simpler. Our neighbors are forcing us to do so over and over again, and so we need to build fences and engage in our correction, and our change will lead to the change of our neighbors.

This will be an invisible potential barrier.

How Do You Love Yourself?

laitman_568_01Question: The wisdom of Kabbalah is based on the principle, “And you shall love your friend as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18), but how can a person love himself; is it possible to love others without loving yourself?

Answer: The assumption of the question is not correct. I don’t need to hate myself to love others; rather, this principle is given to me as an example. Just as I am concerned about myself at any given moment, so I must relate to others as well. I must be concerned about their comfort, their welfare, that they are safe, warm, and satisfied just as I am concerned about the necessary and simple, basic things for myself.

Moreover, if I understand that this is not the main thing in life, that besides satisfying myself with the minimal and normal necessities, I want to relate to higher, eternal and perfect states and begin to unite with Him, I am ready to explain the same thing to other people so that they will understand what kind of unique opportunity we have in our world to transcend it toward the upper world and begin to exist in it in a state of eternity and perfection.

New Life 697 – Laws Of Niddah And Purity

New Life 697 – Laws Of Niddah And Purity
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Nitzah Mazoz

We move from one phase to the next when correcting our ego and this is the reason that there is also a special cycle in nature. In this cycle there is the moon, the sun, and the earth, which are branches stemming from spiritual roots, from upper forces.

Once we were one soul and then we were shattered to pieces. Our correction is to connect with love. Every egoistic desire to receive that has not been corrected yet is called a woman, and a corrected desire is called a man, stemming from the Hebrew word to overcome. Different customs in our world are merely a replica of the spiritual states that we have to undergo in the correction of the ego.

Every monthly cycle symbolizes new egoistic desires that come up and demand their correction to bestowal. We count seven clean days after the monthly period, and then the desires are ready to couple with the Upper Light. In spirituality the blood during the monthly period symbolizes the revelation of the Dinim (judgments), which are difficult egoistic desires.

The impure blood and bathing in the Mikva symbolize the receiving of the Light of Hassadim after which it is possible to receive the Light of Hochma, the semen. A man’s soul that has developed from the semen develops in the womb and its nature is a desire to receive. One can receive only if he becomes a conductor, like a pipe, for others. If the Light identifies that a person is clogged, it doesn’t go through him.

The correction is to open one’s self with love. The corrected desire that opened itself for the Light to flow unto others is called a corrected woman in the coupling. Everyone is considered a woman first, and thanks to overcoming the ego, they become men. The seven clean days symbolize the corrected Lights, which are the forces to bestow and to love. The groom the bride is intended to couple with is the general force of love that fills all of reality. At the end, all the cycles and corrections reach the great coupling of the end of correction.

A Meat Diet Transformed The Ape Into A Human

laitman_231_04Question: An observation at Harvard University revealed that the ape became human thanks to a change in its mastication (chewing) apparatus.

The researchers claim that the hallmark of the evolution from ape to human, walking upright on two legs, is not just walking on two legs, but a reduction of the tooth-jaw mechanism as well. In their opinion, the main reason for this evolutionary change was the consumption of meat.

Answer: This is the opinion of the researchers at Harvard.

However, according to the wisdom of Kabbalah, the four levels of nature—still, vegetative, animate, and speaking—are necessary. It derives from a higher level. In fact, there is no evolution. There is a gradual appearance of the spiritual roots in our world, which seems like evolution to us.

But they are revelations, not evolution. After the root of the still level completely revealed its pattern, the root of the vegetative level began to be revealed. After that came the root of the animate level, and finally the root of the speaking level. There are additional intermediate levels between them, but this is not really evolution.

Nothing can be created in our world or something else developed from a single element. There is only a manifestation of a growing upper root that yields more and more consequences in our world.

Question: Do you support the theory of Charles Darwin or not?

Answer: When I talk about evolution, I don’t mean evolution according to Darwin’s theory, which talks about the transformation of an ape into a human.

According to his theory, this phenomenon happened on Earth by itself. I emphasize that Darwin was right when he claimed that the human was created from an ape. But he was not right about this phenomenon happening by itself on the level of our world. Nothing can be born in our world. That is the problem.

Our world is a world of results, a world of branches. The spiritual world is a world of roots. The moment that the spiritual roots come out and are revealed, their results are discovered here! So, we truly are seeing an evolutionary process in front of us, but, in fact, it is happening in the upper world in the revelation of the higher roots.

Question: What is evolution? The development of desire?

Answer: Yes, in the upper world there is nothing other than desire. The desire of the vegetative level develops into the desire of the animate level, and after that into human desire. In our world, desire is revealed as a result, as tangible objects.

Everything that we do in our world first happens in the upper world. It is said that a person could not move a finger were it not for a higher power that awakens a desire for this movement in him. So, there isn’t any connection to the chewing mechanism of the ape or to eating meat. Apes began to eat meat because this root was revealed in them.

If the roots and the results were revealed to us, we would look at our world and see a theater of puppets on strings where each one performs an action only according to that action from above—not even according to an instruction, but as a result of the higher force that necessarily arouses the appropriate activity.
