Question: What is the meaning of a social consensus, thanks to which it is possible to solve all of our problems?

Answer: Social consensus symbolizes that we have become a single body. It’s very simple! We agree that the people of Israel are a unique people upon which depends the fate of the world, all peoples, and even the mood of the Creator, if it is possible to say such a thing.

Social consensus is the same level to which it is possible to bring the people of Israel living in the land of Israel to common knowledge, awareness, and emotion. Suppose that today we agree that the price of yogurt is way too expensive. Now together with this, we need to reach a consensus that only through our connection and unity can we bring down the price of yogurt by half.

Yogurt is just a typical example. You could use anything else as an example. There are enough examples of high costs in Israel. But who is to blame for this? We ourselves are to blame for not connecting with each other.

Only general education will make it possible to determine what kind of mutual connection there is between us and to actually realize this connection through bringing changes to society. So we invite everyone to take part in our discussion circles.

Gradually a person begins to change. This is called “the influence of the environment on a person.” The environment will change his heart, as there is no other force. The person is not ready to change himself and only the force of the environment does this.

Television must help social unity, such as we do on Channel 66 (in Israel). It is necessary to work on this to create a warm atmosphere in schools so that there won’t be problems such as those that there are now. According to the opinion of sociologists, if 10% of the total population begins to organize something, then they obligate everyone else to participate. In such a manner we can bring consensus to the entire society.

Question: But in what way is this call for equality different from those attempts that humanity has already taken for many years?

Answer: I suggest a working tool, like a screwdriver or a key, through which it is possible to solve our common problem and that of everyone personally at its root by going back to maintaining the balance of nature.

As far as it seems, all previous approaches have been unsuccessful, for the condition of the world is becoming worse and worse. Whereas in the present case, we are beginning to understand the law of existence of human society, the process that it is going through, and the methods that make it possible for us to adhere to this inevitable process, such that we will feel ourselves more and more in every coming point of our development.

This is not talking about trying to convince the government to lower taxes. The solution is found within nature itself, and it requires balance from us. If we don’t establish balance, then all of our various attempts to correct the situation will cost us dearly and will bring even greater loss and damage on a deeper level.

If we don’t heal this illness at its root now, through correction and consolidation of society, then it will break out even more strongly in in another place. Suppose that we gather a particular crowd and go out to a demonstration to make the price of yogurt cheaper by half and we succeed in this. Instead of this, a capitalist will raise the price of other necessary products by 5% and it will follow that we haven’t gained anything.

This is because we have not acted according to the law of nature, according to its trend, but  have instead acted according to our understanding. And when we rely on our intellect, it always follows that we want to correct something egoistically, with the result being worse. The same previous destruction remains In nature and it grows even more. We are then forced to suffer even more, so that eventually we may understand the need for the correction of society.

The problem of the price of yogurt doesn’t exist by itself, rather it is pushing us towards connection with others. Whereas you are saying that you could get its price lowered in another way. But in general we are not talking about yogurt but about social consensus!

Yogurt is only an excuse for making it possible for us to unite. We exist in a global system that is interconnected, a small global village that is embraced by a general crisis.

There was once a very popular slogan: “The people demand social justice!” Today it is possible to change it to this: “The people demand social consolidation!”

Baal HaSulam, “The Peace”: And humanity has already thrown itself to the extreme right, as with Germany, or to the extreme left, as with Russia. But not only did they not ease the situation for themselves, they have worsened the malady and agony, and the voices rise up to the sky, as we all know. 

Today all the means that were useful in the past are invalid. It makes no difference how we choose to advance, what plans we make, or what recommendations or innovations we come up with. Eventually all this will only deepen the crisis we are in, force us to waste our powers in vain, and increase pain and suffering.

So what can we do? A wise man tries to identify the whole process in advance from beginning to end in regards to a predetermined goal. If we do this, we will certainly save ourselves pain and follow the way that will still bring us to the same outcome.

On the other hand, as long as we keep postponing the only possible correction, the unpleasant phases will only be stretched out and prolonged. If we continue to advance along the corporeal egoistic plane, we raise our ego each time and overcome the bad states that are revealed. Our ego keeps on growing and we invent more and more new sophisticated innovations in technology, means of communication, or legislation.

Instead of a king, we have a parliament; we save money in bank accounts and give priority to private enterprises. Why is this so? In order to give people different opportunities to fulfill the egoistic desire and thus keep advancing. We are in perpetual motion, and on each level we discover its worthlessness the moment when we cannot satisfy the demands of our developing desire by ourselves and it forces us to keep on developing.

Today, the desire has reached a certain level of satiation and now we can decide what to do with it. It doesn’t matter what means we try, nothing is successful. Matter, the desire to receive, which has been the basis for the development of human society for thousands of years, is no longer fruitful. Competition can no longer be the engine of progress.

We are in search of new directions, trying to understand what else we can do. But we find nothing. There are no more opportunities in industry, commerce, or science. We have fulfilled and exhausted ourselves.

Of course, we would rather believe that this is a temporary dead end before a new breakthrough, but there is a fundamental problem here: We have developed society only in order to use the power of our ego. Today the ego doesn’t work anymore.

Therefore, we mustn’t continue our advancement in the directions that we have developed so far. The egoistic force, the basis of our progress has exhausted itself. We can already see that it has begun to consume itself.

In the past, a person wanted to have a family, bring up his children, build a home, and become rich. Only a decade or two ago, these goals and demands were clearly understood. But today, many people are not attracted to it. The old values are suddenly gone. It is therefore better to sit and smoke a joint, which has become practically legal, and that’s it.

Humanity has lost the hold and supporting pillar of the ego, which has been our engine of progress throughout history. Although governments and the media still manage to blur reality, there is actually nowhere else to which we can advance.

If we continue to hold on to the peak and keep on delving deeper into the diminishing pool of opportunities, the troubles will only increase. The more we continue to advance along this path, the quicker our negative development will be. The wrong use of the ego and its overuse in our times will eventually show us that it doesn’t work anymore. The uselessness of self-love is now becoming evident.

We already see behavioral mutations in the relations between people and countries. Many don’t even want to think rationally as to whether it is good or bad for them, but simply act out of their impulses and prefer not to think about the outcomes. Thus the ordinary egoistic behavior is gradually changing.

This is a very dangerous phase since it can lead to an outburst in any possible direction. Therefore, the wisdom of Kabbalah is being revealed, and although it is seemingly an artificial thing, unnatural for us, it is actually the right and natural thing.

If we have already exhausted our human egoistic impulse to advance and develop, then there is only one thing left to do: ascend to the next level that is above self-love. There is another force in the world besides the force of receiving, which is the force of bestowal. So why don’t we establish a new humanity on the basis of this attribute? Why don’t we establish our relationships upon it? Let’s use the second force in nature. We mustn’t continue to ignore bestowal. It has always been at our disposal, but we didn’t feel a need for it because the ego pushed us forward and considered the force of bestowal redundant.

The force of receiving burnt in us more and more and we didn’t even think that bestowal provides us with greater opportunities to advance. It is because with the help of bestowal we use the external vessels of the environment, which are the desires, the attainments, the connections and the great mind, the great force that is on the outside. We never even thought that we could develop along the positive path with the help of the force of bestowal.

Bestowal is based on mutual benefit. It opens up infinite perspectives because humanity can finally unite powers instead of wasting them on inner struggles, because it is actually the separation that weakens us. It is just like a rich couple who gets divorced and their lawyers get all their money. Eventually the two sides are left with nothing compared to what they had before.

On the whole, competition and ambitiousness help us advance only if we don’t directly compete with one another on the basis of mutual hate, but instead, we do this on the conceptual level, for the sake of humanity. Today the competition between us is who is better and whose merchandise is better. In this kind of struggle each one wants to wipe out the competition, which is a destructive state not a constructive one. In such cases it isn’t the general wellbeing that wins and it is therefore harmful to all of us.

We have now begun a period of destructive competition. As a result, the ego begins to consume itself and becomes an illness that destroys people. In the past the ego was the developing force, but now it has become a destructive force.

Question: If we want to lower prices, then why don’t consumers simply boycott the expensive food products? Why go through such a long and circuitous route through the unification of society? Thousands of years will pass until we merit that the capitalists will be ashamed because of the influence of the general atmosphere and agreement of society to establish greater equality.

Answer: I am going out according to the wisdom of Kabbalah, which explains that the world must advance towards unity and connection. And to push the world towards unification,  prices of food products essential for life are rising in Israel.

So we are forced to act because of the expensive price of yogurt for children, but essentially, this yogurt is only a pretext to push us towards unity and connection between us. That is how the general law of all of creation works.

There is an old joke about how a Jew immigrated to Israel from the Soviet Union and took a portrait of Lenin in a heavy gold frame through customs. The customs officer says to him that it is forbidden to take gold out of the country. But the Jew answered, “Well, I am taking the portrait of Lenin with me!” And they let him go through. When he reached Israel, then they asked him, “What did you bring the portrait of Lenin for?” So he answered, “I brought gold.” This is to say, everything depends on the angle from which we are looking at things.

Question: Three years ago there was a campaign of social protest to reduce prices and a broad social consensus was reached. Why was this not effective?

Answer: This social consensus was not based upon connection. Connection and unity are the main things that nature is demanding of us. It is only the lack of unity that causes all our problems, including the cost of living, the intifada, illness, divorce, conflicts with children, and problems in education.

Today, it has become clear that the reason for all human problems is the lack of unity and connection in society, meaning a good connection and unity, not on a fascist basis but on a communistic basis.

Do you want to lower the cost of living? I have a plan for this: unity. If we unite, then the prices will lower.

Question: I don’t believe it! We already tried to do this three years ago, so why didn’t this work out?

Answer: There was no real unity then. Unity doesn’t mean gathering a crowd of thousands of people, going out to the public square and shouting. Unity like this is created for destruction, not for the sake of unity and love. It also creates a negative force instead of a positive one. We wanted to break the capitalists, to make a revolution, to cause a fire in the nation, but this is not the proper method.

Nature, according to its tendency, is drawn towards connection. We see that the world has become global, united in commerce and international relations. And the moment this connection is torn, conflicts and wars immediately appear. In other words, nature places us before the need to unite, and in particular, before the proper unity and connection.

Modern technology and techniques all work for the sake of connection and it is only human society that acts in the opposite way and yearns for greater and greater separation. Each one is concerned only about himself and everyone else doesn’t interest him. Everything should burn, since the main thing for him is that things will be good for himself.

Human intelligence has not developed in parallel with nature. Nature that surrounds us, the world of the still, vegetative, and animate, is more developed regarding general integrality and connection than the human society that lives within this sphere.

People are not in harmony with nature, so separation, conflict, and anger dwell among us. This is how human society exists, and in such a form, nothing is waiting for us other than total destruction. The only thing that can save both the Jewish people and all of humanity in general is the right connection and mutual cooperation. Only with this can we correct the situation.

There was a time when this didn’t succeed for us, but this is because we didn’t yearn for unity and connection. We went out together against someone, but not for the sake of the unity that we must reach according to the program of nature.

Human society seems like a cancerous tumor on the body of the rest of nature. It is completely mangled, like a rotting, disintegrating body. And that is what we must bring to unity so that everything will work out wonderfully.

The problem is specifically in this, whereas the inflated price of yogurt is only the result. If we want this result to disappear and the price of yogurt to be a few pennies instead of a few dollars, this is absolutely possible, and we only need to reach unity for this to happen. Nature demands only this one thing from us.

Now, along with this yogurt, health, separation in the family, children’s education, and housing are problems in Israel and are worse here than in any other place in the world. This is because this is the central place where balance must be restored first.

And the whole world, which is suffering from imbalance, blames us for not having stabilized the balance. They cannot express this clearly, so they just blame the Jews for all of their troubles.

So unity and connection within society are the only methods for resolving all of our problems. And this doesn’t just affect the price of yogurt but everything in general, including typhoons, tsunamis, the intifada, and social and natural disasters. Everything depends only on balance, and in particular, balance in Israel.

For each person, it is possible to reach the good life all over the world only through connection and unity of the people of Israel. We are instructed to carry out the major operation, which determines the fate of the world. We began with the price of yogurt and we will finish with bringing the whole world into balance.

Micah, 7:6; Tractate Sotah 49.6: Before the advent of the Messiah …the house of gathering will be the home of debauchery, Galilee will be destroyed in wars …sages will be shamed, those afraid of sin will be despised, and there will be no truth. Righteous will not be able to get along with the falsehearted, and will be forced to retire.  

Before the coming of Messiah …youngsters will be ashamed of the elders and the elderly will rise in front of the young …for a son disgraces his father; a daughter rises up against her mother; a daughter-in-law, against her mother-in-law; a man’s enemies are the members of his household. Gradually, we are approaching this state. We sense it in all spheres of our life; in families, countries, and social structures.

People remain alone with their egoism and the interests of our friends or family members are not taken into account. The state of affairs that we currently experience is called complete darkness.

In the Tractate Sotah, it is said that “the face of the generation will be as the dog’s grin.” In other words, the face of the generation has already acquired a terrible impression of the dusk. That’s why we talk about the darkness that approaches us.

We notice it when we look at our youngsters, we also watch this process looking at ourselves and observing our own changes. We admit that we unconsciously agree with everything that happens around us without having a clue that this kind of attitude turns into a habit.

This state is completely opposite to the one that might bring us closer to the Creator. It’s only a way of demonstrating how much farther we are getting from Him.

Nonetheless, detachment from the Creator or drawing closer to Him is one and the same move, such as a wheel that rotates in a reverse motion, but still takes us forward. The same concept applies here in that I am at the point that is opposite to my goal, but I still continue advancing.

Question: What sensations do people experience when moral, social, and family values are being destroyed?

Answer: We see what’s going on with families, children, divorces, drugs, and relationships.

Big families are rare these days since solid family connections vanish. Detachment of parents from their children and vice versa is a symbol of our time. Spouses cannot live together any longer since they have nothing in common. We do everything to be independent and invent numerous technological novelties that allow us to be completely autonomous.

We think that our home is our castle. However, we cannot rely on our families, nor count on their support just because we are their parts. There is nothing like that anymore. Instead, numerous nursing homes, various hostels, and other places where people remain lonely are very widespread today.

All these are signs of the darkness that is meant to enhance our need for the Messiah’s arrival, which is the force that will pull us out of the state of detachment and bring us to unity.

Question: In the well-known story of Job, human suffering is described, which to a greater or lesser degree touches each one of us.  Job was (Job 1:1): …whole-hearted and upright, and one that feared God, and shunned evil. And in spite of it all, troubles fell upon him one after another.

In the end, the bitterest news arrived that a powerful storm had destroyed his house and his ten children were all killed. When he heard about these events, Following this event, Job stated (Job 1:21):…naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither; the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. The first question that pops up for each one of us is, “Was this fate?”

Answer: There are no accidents. There are forces of nature that act on and influence all parts of creation and on all creatures in general, and on separate parts of substances and on substances in general. You can relate to them however you want, but first of all, you conclude that this is not just blind fate but a process that passes through the whole of creation and includes you.

Unlike the natures of the still, vegetative, and animate, we have the ability, with the help of unity and connection between us, of attaining such a common bond, thanks to which we stop being the harmful part of nature. Through this, we neutralize the bad developments. And the same development that must exist will pass over us in the right direction.

Question: It follows that the freedom that is given to us is expressed in a change in attitude to what is happening?

Answer: This is not just an internal attitude, but rather it is also an action. All of nature is united. And humanity within this nature has become a negative factor, since disagreements rip us apart, with each one building himself at the expense of others; we hate each other, distance ourselves from everyone, and we fight all the time.

It follows that in all of nature, only we are harmful, and so all kinds of disasters happen to us. If we were to continue to connect with unity, agreement, cooperation, and Arvut (mutual guarantee), then certainly we would accept the forces that develop us in a positive manner. Freedom is given to us for this.

Question: Why specifically Job, who was “whole-hearted and upright, and one that feared God, and shunned evil” is the one who received blows, becoming the symbol for human suffering for all generations?

Answer: If we ask the people who surround us, then everyone will tell you that they are wholehearted and upright, like Job. “I am evil? No way! I am a decent and loyal citizen!” That is how each one of us relates to himself. Nobody feels the general imbalance! “As for me, the whole world should burn, the main thing is that it will be good for me; I won’t feel this. I am ready to be on an isolated island in the heart of the ocean of the burning world, and nothing concerns me.”

That is what Job also thought: “Thank God, I have everything, so it is okay.” He was whole-hearted and upright when it was good for him, and when it became bad, he also thanked the Creator: “The LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD!”  Ultimately he perceives what is happening as the action of the higher power which he cannot influence in any way. I would say that he is portrayed as a fool. He agrees with what was and with whatever there is, but he himself doesn’t do anything.

I think that the same thing is happening today with people. Ask anyone: “Is there a crisis?” Yes. “Is there climate change?” Yes. “Is it true that this is dangerous?” Yes. Everyone sees that there is no work, people are sick, couples divorce, and children live on the street. All this is true, but thank God! Why “Thank God?” And where are you? How are you “whole-hearted and upright”? “Thank God.”Is this your attitude?  That is how it must be? So the suffering continues so that people will change their attitude towards life.

The Torah, “Leviticus” 19:11: Ye shall not steal; neither shall ye deal falsely, nor lie one to another.

“Ye shall not steal” means that you shouldn’t take upon yourself what you cannot correct since it belongs to someone else and not to you. It is about the attainment of the limit of a person’s ability to work in order to bestow.

You have to take the uncorrected parts of your desires, since otherwise you will not be able to work with them in order to bestow. Therefore you have no right to cross the border (the corner of thy field), which separates the ten whole Sefirot from the tenth part, and you should determine that this part is not mine. Even if these are your desires, if you cannot correct them, they cannot be yours.

“Neither shall ye deal falsely nor lie one to another,” means that you have to see the clear border between the desires that you work in (the upper part of your soul, GE) and the desires of the lower part of the soul with which you cannot work in order to bestow, and with regards to which you restrict yourself and don’t touch.

In other words, no matter what relationships you have with others, the truth is above these relationships and their different outcomes. This means that the truth, the Creator, His place, His greatness, the law of the world and the universe, is above everything and above everyone.

Therefore, a person cannot work when the truth is under his control. He has to constantly place himself under the system of values that don’t belong to him in any way. They should always come first and he should accept them above all his decisions and his solutions.

Question: If we speak about the connection between people, is there always a force called the Creator between us? Does that mean that it is independent of the actual connection but that there is a connection for the sake of unity?

Answer: We have to establish a full and absolute connection between us called the Creator. If we focus on this connection, it will gradually be revealed among us. This constant intention for the maximum revelation of the Creator is our continuous movement forward to the extent that we learn the method of connection, unity, and correction, which is the Torah.

Therefore, “Neither shall ye deal falsely nor lie one to another,” means that there cannot be a connection between us without the Creator.

Torah, “Leviticus,” Kedoshim 19:09-10: And when ye reap the harvest in your country, do not reap up to the end of the edges of your field and do not pick up the harvest that has fallen. And not to strip your vineyard clean and do not pick up the separated remaining berries in your vineyard, leave those for the poor and the stranger, for I am the Lord thy God.

A field means the material desires of a person, which one should cultivate. While correcting them, one uses them for unity and interaction in the overall system of interconnection between all people.

Do not pick up the harvest that has fallen, means that you aren’t able to completely correct yourself. The first nine Sefirot correct themselves through our efforts, request, interconnection, and the work with others. The tenth Sefira is not only impossible to correct, but even to ask for it is impossible. We aren’t able to ask for this egoism to work towards bestowal, since it’s our foundation that separates us from the Creator.

Suppose we have a desire of a certain thickness. It can soak up the properties of the Creator until the last section, up to the tenth. A tenth part doesn’t accept the properties of bestowal.

If we were to correct all nine parts, then in the end we would come to a state where there would be only one-tenth remaining, which will be corrected by the Creator. This will be His very last deed, which will end 6,000 years of our correction.

The inability to self-correct the tenth part is manifested in all prohibiting actions. We are talking about the desires on the different levels. There are desires on the inanimate level, where you want to make vegetative desires by raising oneself from the ground to the next level as a plant.

There are desires that become animate from vegetative, and those desires from the animate level you raise the level of Man. In all of these corrections, there are always actions that are forbidden to you, and all of this is related to the tenth.

But there are times when you can take some desires from the tenth part that is called “remove the top of the milk” and move it back to the first nine Sefirot. Therefore, prohibitive desires are relative. This means that you yourself can’t use them, but the poor passing next to your field can.

It’s also a correction. You leave the forbidden desire of yours to the poor, and when the poor uses it, it corrects your tenth. You can’t lift this part from the property of reception to the property of bestowal, but the poor can.

In turn, the poor person who receives this food from you isn’t able to use his or her tenth part of it, and should give it as a donation (Maaser) to the Temple or to something similar. This is how the chain of our interconnection must work.

Question: How will one feel that this is the tenth part with which I can’t work?

Answer: You will feel it when you don’t have any more strength to do anything else. If you feel you’ve given your 100%, then you only have a tenth left.

Working with the Light at high levels, a person feels and controls all his desires and one is able to see through oneself. In our state we don’t perceive it as yet,; however, a Kabbalist, who is in the spiritual environment, is able to clearly separate the first nine Sefirot from the tenth. One feels what is possible to do and what isn’t. This is first.

Second, one feels the edge of one’s field here as one’s Malchut, one’s desires over which one has no control and therefore leaves them.

In order to better understand this action, imagine that you’ve ordered a person in our world to kill one’s own son, as Abraham was ordered. Can a normal person do it? Never. There are certain boundaries (the edge of the field), which we can’t transgress.

Question: What can you say about the ecology of the world; after all, it isn’t just being violated, but is threatened with disaster?

Answer: As of now, the ecosystem of the Earth is collapsing, being crushed, shattered, and annihilated. Our incorrect relationship to nature causes terrible problems. We have already reached the North and South poles, where they are getting ready to drill for oil.

But on its own, planet Earth possesses an amazing characteristic of renewal under the influence of positive signs that descend from above. So a person’s task is to invite these signs, not to clean the Earth of garbage. This won’t work. As much as we clean it, it becomes filthier and filthier, for chemical and biological cleansing damage the ecology even more.

Rather, the idea is that everything found on the levels of the still, vegetative, and animate nature can regenerate and recover at an amazing speed. And this is possible only if a higher spiritual level brings positive signs.

The moment that humanity becomes harmonious through integral consolidation, the entire ecology will, in fact. immediately become balanced and the world will begin to blossom and spread a pleasant fragrance. It is not necessary to be concerned about it in particular, just as it isn’t necessary to be concerned about anything that is found below the spiritual level. If we make a correction on the spiritual level, the corrections will pass down and immediately cause changes on the physical level.

Everything will be changed such that it will be restored to its original divine form. Even those violations that have happened on the face of the Earth for the past twenty or thirty thousand years will be balanced and all the species of animals that disappeared will be restored.

There is nothing imaginary about this because all of nature is mutually connected and all of its levels are found one under the other. The Upper Light passes hierarchically from above to below and arranges everything through a higher harmony.

So, the blossoming of planet Earth depends on our changes and internal education. It is not necessary to do anything besides correct ourselves. Through re-education we begin to look at nature differently, and this time it will begin to come back to life.

Gradually we will stop working with it according to the previous trend, because we understand that all that is necessary is to bring the whole world to a state of balance. And for this, it is necessary to receive from nature only what will reasonably fulfill all of humanity through it, and no more than this. We are connected through millions of connections between us and with all of nature. So thanks to the restoration of the inner ecosystem of humanity, the ecosystem of planet Earth will begin to be restored.

Question: You suggest contending with the rise in prices with the help of connection and unity of the society so that it will become more equal and balanced? How can the thoughts of people lower the prices in practice?

Answer: In a society, if the general opinion prevails that it requires more equality and balance, this will influence even the capitalists, that this is apparently beneficial and profitable for them. This is because they are also found under the influence of society, and these thoughts are also conveyed to them.

It is not even obligatory to talk about this; they will feel the general desire. This is called the influence of the environment on a person. The main thing is that in the face of this example of lowering prices, each one will understand the principle that is to be used to solve various problems. If we attain unity in society, then we can not only lower the cost of living, but also strengthen security, health, education, and reduce unemployment.

We have a mechanism in our hands which acts in every realm of life. Social consensus is a unique power that makes it possible to solve all problems in society. It even removes the external threats that don’t seem to be directly connected to our inner unity, such as from the intifada and anti-Semitism.

The idea is that here the same principle is at work. All of humanity is nourished by the people of Israel. And the other people feel this and blame Israel for their problems. If the people of Israel unites within itself, then it will be good for all of humanity.

And this must be a good social consensus, and not as it is with the nationalists and the fascists. The agreement is based upon love, concessions, equality, closeness, and warmth.  “And you shall love your friend as yourself” is the basis for the people of Israel. The time has come to remember that “All of Israel are friends.” This is part of the culture of our people that is always concerned about mutual help, although it seems that now we have forgotten this.

Once this system of mutual help was based upon religious tradition, but for some time it hasn’t existed in this previous form. We only need to revive it, return to that form in which the people of Israel always existed.

Question: Do you think that society is ready to have such a strong influence on a person?

Answer: There are many studies that prove that a person is fully found under the influence of the environment. Even apes on an isolated island suddenly begin to behave identically as apes on a neighboring island. We are found in a system of natural laws.

Journalists complain that without coordination between them, they give identical titles to articles that come out on the same morning in different newspapers. Thoughts roam the world and are passed from one to another, for all of us are connected to a single system.

The world has become global and interconnected, like a small village. And this is not thanks to the Internet, but because we have developed to such a state that our desires, thoughts, and inner feelings are connected with all people in the world.

This also helps in the development of external connections: McDonald’s, Coca-Cola, the Internet, and the English language are in every corner of the world. This unification fulfills all the hard work for our unification. As a result of this, we are beginning to understand and feel each other to a greater degree, and to have more influence over each other.

And here the crisis erupts; the ego doesn’t let us maintain good connections, rather only bad connections. If in general there were no connection, this wouldn’t be so bad since there wouldn’t be any dependence on each other, neither good nor bad. But today, a connection is created between us and this connection is bad, causing a general crisis throughout the world.

And the Jews, the people of Israel, are responsible for the emergence from the crisis. Only they can change the general manner of connection. These connections are already impossible to rend, and it is possible only to correct them into good connections.

We must gradually get used to unity and connection being the mechanism, the means, for any changes. And the changes can take either a good direction or a bad direction, for unity can also be Nazism. “Fascism” is translated as unification, but such unification is not for the good of society. If we don’t want the world to unite on the basis of fascism, we must present it with an example of a good connection.

Question: The Torah tells us that Isaac found two wells in the land of Grar that had been dug in Abraham’s time and had been covered afterwards. These wells caused many quarrels with the local shepherds and after a while a new well was dug that caused no disputes.

Then Avimelech, the king of Grar, offered Isaac a treaty. Why did the nations of the world become so nice all of the sudden and want to make a treaty with the Jews?

Answer: It is because Isaac had begun his corrections.

A well is a hole in the ground, in a land that is full of water. A hole that is full of the water of life is called a well of life. Water is the essence of the attribute of bestowal that is hidden in the land, which means in the desire. In other words, your desire begins to flow so that you receive the water of life through it, which is the attribute of bestowal that brings life to everyone.

Basically, the story of the wells shows us that if we begin to fulfill our mission to organize the Israeli nation in order to correct the world, it is enough. We actually don’t have to correct the world, but only correct ourselves.

In chapters 66-67 in the “Introduction to The Book of Zohar,” Baal HaSulam says that the moment the Israeli nation begins to correct itself, which means it adapts itself according to the Creator, the Light will immediately begin to flow from it like water from a well, and this Light will correct all the other nations. This way the whole world will become a better place. After all, the world cannot correct itself nor can it do anything.

Just imagine there is a nation that totally controls and manages the world and the other nations cannot do anything and simply wait for this nation to do something.

The problem is in the way it is revealed, and the interruptions can be great. At the moment, we can still somehow escape those who oppose Israel. But what if this picture is revealed and suddenly everyone would see that there are seven billion people in the world and there are about ten million on whom everything depends?

I would say that the seven billion are like a body that runs on life software, and this software is the Jewish people. Its mass doesn’t belong to the actual body of the world, but rather to the software, and it operates on a different level.

On the whole, the actual software is merely a virtual component with regard to the matter. It is a schema, a system. We can say that the software of the protein material is Israel and the actual protein material is the nations of the world. If this software is incorrect, just imagine what diseases and problems are caused in the material!

The whole history of mankind is basically the continuous cooperation between the world and the Israeli nation, just like two coils in the DNA chain. The nations of the world and the Israeli nation are in continuous communication, contact, and effort between them. Israel wouldn’t be able to reach the state of the third well without the pressure of the nations of the world upon it. There are those who dig the desire and others who cover it up. This development is necessary in order to reach the water of life, the attribute of Bina.

The first well basically refers to Abraham, the second to Isaac, and the third to Jacob. When Jacob connects, he becomes the middle line and then we reach the water of life.

Question: What does that have to do with life today? Do we have to discover this well now, this water of life?

Answer: Yes. We begin to spill out the bestowal, and this depends only on the connection between us. The unity of the Israeli nation is the key to everything. It is the only thing that can dig a well for the world.

To dig a well means to delve into our desires. They are negative, bad, and they reveal all the negativity that is concealed within a person, his nature, and his distance from the Creator. But we have to do it. We have to create strong feelings of the deficiency of the Light within us, the attributes of love and bestowal. This is called an empty well or a hole. By the way, there is a difference between these two concepts. What a person looks for depends only on the person himself.

When we dig a well, we attain the state, the depth in which we feel the greatest pain with regard to love, bestowal, and connection. Then the water that is the source of life appears.

Just like animals who feel where there is water, so did people in those times feel where they had to dig and how deep in order to find water. By the way, there is plenty of water in the desert because there are huge subterranean lakes. We only need to know where to dig and there is nothing to fear. You can go anywhere since you will always find water.

Question: Is this self-search the closeness and the connection between us?

Answer: Yes. It exists to the extent that we make efforts in order to discover the attribute of bestowal called water.
