Climbing Mt. Sinai

laitman_740_03Question from Facebook: A friend and I decided to climb Mt. Sinai. At a certain point, I felt so weak that I couldn’t move and I gave in. I feel that I was given a chance and that I did not take it.

Answer: There is nothing holy about Mt. Sinai. It was a holy moment when the Jews received the Torah, not the mountain itself but the state of the children of Israel at the foot of the mountain in order to connect and to receive the Upper Light.

The upper Light fills not only our space but other dimensions as well. It is dressed in us and fills us to the degree that we can resemble it, and the resemblance is attained by our yearning to unite between us.

Therefore, Mt. Sinai is simply a geographic landmark along the way and nothing more. In fact, it is the state that people achieve when they want to connect to each other above their egoism. Then their united egoism creates a mountain that grows right in front of them, and they must rise above it.

The point in their heart called Moses rises above their egoism and the whole nation (egoism) remains below, but agrees, by lowering its head, to obey what the Creator tells Moses and to accept this state in order to later attain the same ascent together.

Laitman_025_02Question: Man has a corporeal body. Does the soul have a body?

Answer: The body of the soul is called the desire to bestow.

Question: Is it possible to not get confused by the fact that all of the worlds and all of reality are inside me and that the feeling is that everything is external to me?

Answer: It is impossible unless you begin to feel the upper reality. In the meantime, it is a purely philosophical question.

Question: Once we  we reach this egoistic corporeal world, do we remember our initial spiritual state if it already existed?

Answer: No, we don’t remember. We can only imagine and picture it to ourselves, and nothing more than that. However, there is no need for us to do so. We must advance and not delve into the past.

Question: Can you give a concrete example of love and bestowal in the spiritual sense of the word?

Answer: Connect to your friends in the group to such a degree that you feel them as one unique whole and, at the same time, cease to feel yourself. This is a spiritual feeling. It is useless to try to look for spiritual actions outside the group and outside the friends.

Question: How does reality change when I begin to see the work of the upper force through me and though those around me with the help of the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: When you connect with the upper force, you begin to understand how you must bestow unto it and focus on the goal consciously in order to change the corporeal reality. At the same time, you yearn to reach total resemblance and equivalence with the only upper force of leadership so that you and that force will become one whole. This is what a person’s correction comes down to.

Answers To Your Questions, Part 168

laitman_281_02Question: Exactly on which desires is it necessary to make a Tzimtzum (restriction) to feel the upper world? On which desires is it not necessary to do this? How do we make the Tzimtzum?

Answer: We must aspire to achieve unity in a group until the characteristic of bestowal appears between us, and this will be so tangible that within it the Light, the characteristic of bestowal, will appear from above. It is not necessary to do anything beyond that!

Question: How can I become a Rav in the wisdom of Kabbalah, to be your colleague in the work, both in status and in general work with the people, conducting the daily lessons and so forth?

Answer: The desire is welcome. Study.

Identifying A Kabbalist

226Question from Facebook: How can I tell whether the person in front of me is a Kabbalist?

Answer: There is no way you can tell, but there are external signs of a Kabbalist:

1. Regularly studying the wisdom of Kabbalah whenever he can.

2. Studying for 3 hours during the morning lesson.

3. Regularly attending the gathering of friends’ meetings.

4. Taking part in dissemination that leads to the correction of the world.

5. Making active efforts to bring the world to a corrected state.

This is called a Kabbalist

Question: If that’s the case, even a student who is a beginner can be called a Kabbalist.

Answer: According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, a person is called a Kabbalist according to his intention and his goal, not according to whether he has attained a spiritual level. If he focuses himself on it the spiritual level, it means that he is in it.

Ascending Above This World

laitman_942Question from Facebook: During the last convention, I had a feeling of ascending above this world. Why can’t I feel this in ordinary days?

Answer: You cannot feel that because you don’t have the society that can raise you. When thousands of people gather and everyone is excited about the idea of ascending above this world, they actually raise our world to the next level, and whoever is incorporated with them in this effort rises too.

This is the reason that you ascended; it was thanks to others and not as a result of your own efforts. Come and study how to ascend by your own efforts and how to raise others.

Answers To Your Questions, Part 167

Laitman_709Question: I listen to and read your lectures with great pleasure. I notice many things that are related to what you say, but there are things that remain unclear.

You often say that we, (mankind) are now living on a low egoistic level, with which I totally agree, and that in order to change the situation, the Creator is pushing us toward comprehensive unity or toward what we call globalization.

You explain this by saying that life itself, or nature, is leading us toward this unity, but if we look at nature itself, I don’t see that animals live together, on the contrary, wolves live with wolves, sheep with sheep, but not in common.

We are not animals, of course, but we can look at the story of the Tower of Babel where the Creator himself caused the divisiveness between people. It seems that there are many examples where the Creator and nature have led to divisiveness, or more accurately perhaps, that He separated people from each other. What do you think about this?

Answer: The still, vegetative, and animate nature depend on the human level, and descend and ascend with it.

Does Satan Exist?

laitman_207Question from Facebook: Does Satan exist or is it fiction?

Answer: It exists, it is the egoistic power of man.

A lot is said about this in the wisdom of Kabbalah. In the Torah and in The Book of Zohar, it is called “Satan” from the word “Sotah” (deviation), “Masit” (diversion). It diverts a person from the right way.

This force lives within everyone and it is impossible to get rid of it; there is no “surgical operation” that will help. There are many different manifestations of egoism, and the one that diverts us from a good connection between us is called Satan.

Question: Can it be managed somehow?

Answer: There is only one case in which it cannot get hold of us. It is when we build our communication above it.

This force will always exist and will constantly generate discord between us. But when humanity unites at one time, then all the satanic mischief will be added to our good deeds and increase them.

Specifically, thanks to the tricks of egoism, we will force ourselves to get closer to each other. Therefore, Satan will turn into a good force, because ultimately it is what helps us reach an understanding of the right interaction.

An Eye For An Eye, And Where Is The Love?

laitman_558Question from Facebook: What is the meaning of “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth?”

Answer: It means that we have to establish the correct relations between people at the level of nature, on the egoistic level.

On the one hand, we should not take anything into account besides equality, when the force of action causes an equal force of opposition.

On the other hand, if all the people in the world opposed each other, then there is an understanding that the system of connection should be higher than their nature.

The wisdom of Kabbalah helps a person acquire the attribute of connection above egoism. It is called “faith above reason” or “love will cover all transgressions.” Love doesn’t erase anything. We see all the pollution and all the problems between us and to what extent each is opposed to others and how different each one is from the other, which is given to us from nature! But by making efforts together, we build a bridge of a totally different type of connection above everything, understanding who we are.

The wisdom of Kabbalah offers us a method called the “middle line,” which helps us do this. If we think about the world, about a normal life, and about good mutual relations between us, we can attain that only by this method.

Laitman_001_02Question: Do you exist in two worlds at the same time right now, the physical world and the spiritual world, as you are telling us about the wisdom of Kabbalah,?

Answer: I exist with you.

Question: Can you tell us from your own experience how the attribute of the Creator, the attribute of bestowal, is acquired?

Answer: It is only through the group. When a person melts into the group, he prepares himself for dissolving into the Creator, and this is how the contact, the unification with the Creator, takes place.

Question: Does a person who reaches the attribute of the upper force acquire its desire and passions?

Answer: No, he will always discover that he has passions and desires that he cannot control and will have to ask the upper Light, the Creator, to correct him.

Question: Do we lose the taste of spiritual attainment once we arrive at our individual end of correction? After all, a person who attains spirituality dissolves like fog.

Answer: On the contrary, everything that I dissolve into becomes mine, and in it, I feel the eternal, perfect, and absolute taste.

Question: What does a Kabbalist who sees the suffering of others feel?

Answer: He must justify the suffering because that’s the way it seems to him through his ego, and in the attribute of love and bestowal, all the suffering is perceived as enormous pleasure because there is actually no suffering in the world.

Question: If the fate of this world concerns me, is it also related to the attribute of bestowal?

Answer: No, the fate of this world should concern a person only because it is through this world that he can get to know the Creator, to make all of mankind familiar with Him, and raise them to the level of the attainment of wholeness and eternity.

Two Ways Toward The Same Goal

laitman_546_02Question from Facebook: I thought that you would know the future from the height of the spiritual worlds because, time doesn’t exist for the upper Light and everything is determined from the start. If so, how is what you say, “It could be, otherwise it will be bad”, and so forth, to be interpreted?

Answer: Even though the future seems absolutely precise, the wisdom of Kabbalah explains that it is possible to reach it in two different ways. One of the ways is the long way of suffering, of searching, blows, and world wars. The second way is rapid, easy, pleasant, and airy. We are found between them now, and it is up to us to choose one of them. Ultimately, the result will be identical.

But either we accept our future in a nice and rapid way, or unfortunately, the opposite. I say, “Otherwise it will be bad” because along with a good possibility, a bad possibility also exists. This is our freedom of choice. The choice is not about the final goal, but how we will achieve it.
