The Goal of the Congress

585.02World Kabbalah Convention “Connecting to Lishma,” Lesson 2

Question: What is the role of reason in spiritual work if the main thing is to go above knowledge? How can we verify that we are truly going above reason and not just suppressing our doubts?

Answer: We learn to perceive the world around us, not in the attribute of reception, but in the quality of bestowal. In this case, we will sense the Creator in our perception of reality.

In order to properly experience everything that exists, we must first absorb the perception of reality of the creatures, then the perception of reality of the Creator, and then build our sense of reality on their basis. We consider this to be the goal of our forum.

We need to find contact with the Creator in which He constantly changes His attitude toward us, and we must change our attitude toward Him accordingly.

As a result, we will begin to feel His actions and His intentions, and we will act accordingly until we see that only the Creator rules over all our feelings.

Create Your Own Blockbuster in Life

906Question: A British movie called Before We Disappear dynamically changes scenes and storylines based on audience feedback. It uses technology to analyze audience reactions and adapts the story depending on the viewers emotional engagement.

If we could program the storyline of our own lives the way we want instead of being dictated by circumstances, could there be an interesting development of events?

Answer: Only a very egoistic person would think about controlling the world in this way. After all, I live in a world where billions of other people also exist. If I want to change myself, my existence, my life path, I inevitably would influence the destinies of everyone else. I cannot act solely based on what I want without affecting others.

Thinking about it is, of course, possible, but it is absolutely unrealistic and will never work! What could work is this: If I wish well for everyone, always think and act in ways that benefit everyone and I know what “good” truly means without making mistakes, then I can positively influence the world.

Question: What if it is not just one person but everyone who wants to do good so that everyone benefits?

Answer: For that to happen, we need to reveal the bigger picture—the fact that we are all interconnected, part of one network, and there is no escaping from each other!

If even in my thoughts I wish something negative for others, even just a little, I am already distorting the entire system of our connections. The system then turns back to me, the one who caused this distortion, and forces me to correct it. It bends me back into place. That is why we are all so unhappy.

We all try to bend each other to our will, but the system works differently, it bends us because each of us creates faulty connections.

Question: What percentage of people would need to desire to develop a caring scenario for this system to change?

Answer: It depends, are we talking about a specific country or the world as a whole? But, in principle, it is possible. Even in a particular region or group of people if they truly desire it. However, this requires changing the individual. And a person can only be changed through education. Without a serious educational system and a thoughtful approach to people, it will not happen.

How can you even approach people with this? First, they need the desire for it. Today, such desires are slowly forming.

Only then can you approach people and share what you have. And what do I have? I have the key to happiness, not just any happiness, but eternal, perfect happiness! At this point, people become bewildered: “What eternal, perfect happiness? I do not even want to open my eyes in the morning.”

Question: Can a person desire this on their own?

Answer: To do so they would need to go through very serious trials.

Comment: This leads to a very pessimistic scenario.

My Response: I am not pessimistic because the program of nature exists and it will lead us to this outcome. I only wish to soften its course. That is all! I have no pessimism whatsoever. I act, I believe, to the fullest extent possible.

Comment: It is a life’s work. When people dedicate themselves to their life’s work, they draw inexhaustible motivation from the process itself.

My Response: You might think that a Kabbalist has endless energy, that their inner volcano is constantly bubbling and erupting with steam through its summit.

Question: So what is the constant driving force for a Kabbalist?

Answer: Only one thing—direct connection with the Creator who governs everything and with whom you must constantly feel mutual action, a partnership.

The Development of Feelings

198Comment: You say a person studies Kabbalah not to attain wisdom but to develop the ability to perceive the next dimension.

Answer: Of course, because we live through feelings. When they develop in us, we can analyze them: if it is hot, light, warm, and so on.

I have five senses, which I can explore and develop based on my perception. Such exploration creates science. In other words, all our sciences are data collected from our senses and devices we add to them like microscopes, telescopes, etc.

That is, first, we use the matter of creation, the desire. Then, in this desire we feel everything that happens in it, all kinds of disturbances and fluctuations; we examine them, record them, scale them, put them in order, and from this our science arises.

When I measure something, I do it relative to my qualities. But I cannot even imagine that I am exploring everything relative to myself. If other creatures were in our place, they would see and measure everything entirely differently. We just do not understand how connected we are and we act only from inside this box, from our body.

Therefore, when a person enters into the sensation of the upper world, the first thing he realizes is how subjective all his previous knowledge, feelings, and experiences were. But understanding this is only possible when he acquires one more system.

A Spiritual Principle

929Question: Is it possible to put a spiritual principle on the Internet?

Answer: A spiritual principle is the revelation of the Creator. This is what we need to guide a person toward. To guide someone means to create in them the greatest possible need for connection with others and for exiting themselves. After all, as soon as a person begins to feel others as himself, he will immediately discover the Creator outside himself.

Why do we need the surrounding society? To practice “exiting ourselves” through it.

The Creator exists outside of me, but I do not feel Him. The surrounding society, however, is within me, but the Creator deliberately arranged it so that it appears to me as if it exists outside of me.

If I take this seemingly external, illusory picture and attach it to myself so closely that the external and internal merge within me, meaning that my “self” and the surrounding world become one whole, then I prepare my perception to feel what is truly outside me. And immediately, I perceive the Creator because the only thing that exists outside of me is Him.

And where is all of humanity? I reveal that it is within me. It always was within me. It only appeared to exist outside of me so that I could tune myself like a musical instrument or a sensory organ to perceive the Creator.

This is why we are given such a perception of ourselves split into two parts—myself and the world. In reality, there is no world outside of me.

We need to demonstrate to others the necessity of this tuning: to explain the purpose of Kabbalah, which speaks of “love your neighbor as yourself.” It is solely to bring us to the perception of the Creator—the source of all goodness and perfection.

When Dealing with a Person’s Soul

559Question: You once said that a friend is an obstacle in me that appears to me as someone close to me. What does it mean?

Answer: I do not know in what context this was said at the time. I probably meant that all the people I see existing around me are actually pieces of my soul.

And when I achieve my final correction, and my perception of the world is corrected, I will discover that there is no one but me and the Creator. And everything that I feel today as inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human will turn out to be parts of my desire that represent a desire created by the Creator, a desire in which I will be completely similar to the Creator.

In the same way, you will reveal the entire universe within yourself as your integral part. And so will absolutely each of us without in any way preventing others from achieving the same feeling and revelation.

Perhaps this is what I meant when I said that my friend is my obstacle. In other words, until I discover him as my integral part, he is an obstacle to me because my still uncorrected state divides us into me and him.

Comment: But you were talking about my attitude, not toward any person, but specifically toward a friend. Let us say he may physically look a certain way, but it is my distortion that depicts him. That is how we perceive each other at the moment.

My Response: How is this so?! Am I interested in your hair, eyes, and everything else? What does that have to do with what is inside you? Am I worshiping idols?!

I strive to connect only with a person’s aspiration toward the Creator because it is his true, eternal, innermost desire that will not change and will only grow. And everything else in him will change. And in general, you should not relate to a friend based on some earthly information or passport data.

If I want to discover the true creation for myself, to enter the spiritual world, then I am dealing only with a person’s soul and in no way with his body. What difference does it make to me what kind of body he has, whether he has arms and legs, or not? I want to reach a state where it does not matter to me whether he is in his animalistic body or already beyond it.

Acquire the Qualities of the Creator

258Question: The Creator divided Himself into two parts: the perceiver and what is perceived. Will this situation always remain?

Answer: This is how our perception is structured; it consists of the perceiver and what he perceives.

But the fact is that in our case when we are dealing with the revelation of the Creator, we have an interesting quality. A person begins to acquire the qualities of the Creator. There is no limit to his attainment, right up to the feeling of the world of infinity.

Question: Ultimately, the Creator we attain, is He the Creator who can simultaneously exist in all, even the most distant parts?

Answer: Absolutely!

Feel the Creator of the World

276.02I must attune myself to the sensation of the Creator so that my feelings perceive the entire world, everything He creates within me from the crude image of this world, which we imagine through our five senses, to inner spiritual states, to the Creator’s attitude toward this, and to my attitude toward Him through the veil of this world.

I must imagine all this as the Creator’s immense attention and care for me that is aimed at my development to a state where I begin to feel Him. He does not hide; it is my consciousness that conceals Him from me.

If I thought that in my previous state I had a glimpse of perfection or some understanding and awareness, the next state, in contrast, reveals that I understand nothing, feel lost, and do not know how to deal with this tangled perception of the world.

Here I must realize what I am striving for. Naturally, according to my egoism, I want everything to be clear to my mind and revealed to my feelings so that I can fill myself with sensations and perceptions of some image and, through it, see the Creator of this image, the Creator of the world.

The world is the image I perceive. The Creator is the one who stands behind it.

The World Where “There Is None Else Besides Him”

TES—The Personal Diary of a Kabbalist

209Question: If the main thing is to attract the light, why do we analyze the structure of the worlds described in TES in such detail in the lesson?

Answer: We do not aim to analyze the detailed structure of the worlds; we only try to gather some details to participate in what Kabbalists tell us.

But when studying TES, like all else, we first have to think about the soul, where all the elements I read about exist and all phenomena occur.

Kabbalists, who have discovered the quality of bestowal within themselves, analyze what actions can be performed in it and write about it. Apart from this, there is nothing, either we are in an imaginary reality of this world, which does not exist and then disappears, that we live in as in a dream, or we reach the genuine reality of bestowal, the reality of the Creator.

After all, there is “None else besides Him,” and if something exists, it is only there. TES tells us how this true reality is revealed to us within our desires.

To the extent I enter into this reality and discover it acting in me, to the extent I join and identify myself with it, I can write about it as a Kabbalist. And other Kabbalists do the same. That is, we all write about the same connection with the eternal upper light and what we reveal in it from our black point of creation, a point out of nothing.

When I reach contact with the light, similarity with it, I feel different phenomena beginning to occur in me, manifesting in me from top to bottom (the light of Hochma) or in width (the light of Hasadim). These phenomena give rise to all sorts of feelings in me; I describe them since I have the opportunity to express them in words and sounds.

But all our impressions come from that black point that encounters the light and becomes like the light. This is the whole science of Kabbalah—the revelation of light inside the black point of creation.

From an Imaginary Reality to the True One

935The world has entered a state where it is beginning to destabilize itself because it needs to ascend to the next degree. Its highest degree is called “Adam” (man) since all of nature is divided into four levels: inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human.

We are approaching 6,000 years, the end of human history. We think that the Earth is spinning and will continue to spin. No, the Earth will not spin forever, because the world is merely our perception of ourselves and our surroundings. In and of itself, it does not exist. Without us, there is no world. This entire reality exists in our imagination.

We must understand that the time has come for us to transition from this reality to its next level, the spiritual one. That is, we must move from a world that exists based on the methodology of connecting egoistic forces to a world that exists according to the methodology of the quality of bestowal.

This transition is achieved only through the connection of people when we strive to come closer to one another and ask the Creator to give us the force of unity. But we must feel the need for it; that is, we need to create such a negative potential within the group, such a need for this force, that the Creator is truly revealed between us, and the force of unity begins to govern us. Then, through us, as the head of the Partzuf, this force will flow to all other parts of humanity.

The Whole World Is a Continuous Disturbance

767.2Question: Is it possible to go through all disturbances on the physical level without blows, just within the group, and how can we achieve this?

Answer: It depends on how you relate to the disturbances. Let’s say a disturbance arises. But because I exist on the physical level, how could I perceive it if it were not physical? I do not have any other sensations besides corporeal ones, so I experience them this way.

Since we are on the animate level, naturally, all disturbances emerge within us on this same level.

It is clear that these include our bodies, our families, our lives, work, and relationships with others. All of them constitute our world, and we experience various disturbances within it.

In fact, the whole world is one continuous disturbance. If we reach a level where these disturbances no longer matter to us and instead we feel only spiritual disturbances, this world will gradually fade from our perception or take up only a minimal part of it.
