Question: How should we prepare ourselves for the morning lesson now, after the congress?

Answer: We ask for the Light that is contained in the depth of our collective power, our common desire, to be revealed. We seek the revelation of the Light! I don’t know what the Surrounding Light is. The Surrounding, inner, outer, Nekudot (points representing vowels ), Taamim (flavors), I don’t know the difference between them; I only know that if we manage to reach unity between us in some small degree, we will be able to unveil the Light concealed within this unity.

Therefore, I apply pressure to our oneness as I see it in order to find the Light in it. What is the Light? It is the property of bestowal! I wish to have the property of bestowal revealed between us. There is a common desire where all desires are gathered in one, all our points in the hearts, and I wish to unveil the Light resting in it, the Light of oneness, mutual guarantee, and love.

I don’t assess the spiritual rungs in it yet but just wish to find spirituality, to uncover the Light, the mutual attribute of bestowal, the Creator, in order to delight Him. It is as if I have a little child and think about how to make him happy, what to buy him, what present to give him. I think and care about it. In the same way, I think about the Creator whom I wish to find in the connection between us; therefore, our unity is the place where I can reveal the Creator revealed and the state in which I can bring Him pleasure.

Rabash, Letter No. 8: And once I have acquired this above-mentioned clothing, sparks of love promptly begin to shine within me. The heart begins to long to unite with my friends, and it seems to me that my eyes see my friends, my ears hear their voices, my mouth speaks to them, the hands embrace, the feet dance in a circle in love and joy together with them, and I transcend my corporeal boundaries. I forget the vast distance between my friends and me, and the outstretched land for many miles will not stand between us.

It is as though my friends are standing right within my heart and see all that is happening there, and I become ashamed of my petty acts against my friends. Then, I simply exit the corporeal vessels and it seems to me that there is no reality in the world except my friends and me.  After that, even the “I” is cancelled and is immersed, mingled, in my friends, until I stand and declare that there is no reality in the world—only the friends.

Aspirations like these bring people to a state where their last desperate desire is the yearning for closeness, to build a world in which they must exist under other conditions of contact between them. When they reach a true desire of this type, the Light transforms that into a reality.

There are many people in the world to whom the power for spiritual work has not been given, even in the simplest form, even unintentionally in an egoistic form as preparation. It wasn’t given! We see this regarding billions of people in the world, and we have merited that the Creator gave us desires and thoughts that allow us, at least in part, to participate in spiritual work, even if it is the simplest degree.

If a person is prepared to appreciate this gift, then to the degree that he attributes importance to spiritual work when he builds a new world (here only the feelings between us change), to that degree, he needs to thank the Creator.

You see, the truth is that we are not prepared to appreciate the importance of the fact that sometimes we are given even the smallest spiritual action to do. So, the person feels greatness and happiness in his heart and he praises the Creator whom he serves, and thanks Him and accordingly, he rises even higher.

The person must treasure the opportunity that is given to him to serve the Creator and to realize His will.

The “will of the Creator” means that a person constructs a model of the upper world from his relationships with other people.

Just as children play as if they are adults—daughters play with dolls and sons with cars or with war—so must we also play, and then we mature.

In our world, an adult is the one who stops playing. He stops developing, growing. This happens with us automatically because first nature pushes us so that we will grow and, then when free choice appears in us, nature no longer pushes us anymore, and we stop developing.

Therefore, those people, who decide that it is up to them to continue to develop, must continue to play those childhood games but on another level, that is, to build their future lives. They simulate what they imagine in their fantasies, discuss among themselves in a group, in circles, and build it so much so that they begin to feel the world they are approaching.

When a person sees an example of the future world and builds the right altruistic relationships with his friends, but he doesn’t succeed, he asks and demands, then help arrives. However, this happens only when he truly yearns for this. Just screaming and crying will not help here.

Man is not free to choose anything in his life. He is brought to a group and led away from it. He doesn’t control this. What depends upon us is how we construct an environment that will cause each one of its members to be a useful, spiritual part.

Therefore, it is said that the only free activity that depends on us is the choice of the environment. A person’s arrival to an environment doesn’t depend upon him since he is led there. And the choice of the environment  means that at every given moment, I choose my maximal integration within it. Does the rest of humanity, people without a point in the heart, have free choice? No, they don’t.

Only for us is there relative freewill in building the right environment and in the correct organization of humanity. Therefore, we have responsibility, both for us and for them. This responsibility is very harsh. If we don’t build the right environment for all seven billion people as much as possible, then we cannot advance because we are the upper part within the spiritual structure called Galgalta ve Eynaim (GE), and humanity is the huge lower part of creation that is called AHP.

The upper part, GE, is our particular part, called our group, and its lower part is our AHP. It doesn’t belong to us, but it is something that we develop, the method of integral education and information, various courses, and so on.

It is up to us to develop the subject, to act like adults, like teachers, in regard to the rest of the world, and in accord with the development of the world, it is up to us to bring the integral method and information to it with concern and attention.

All the rest of the world will need to accept it because, in spite of it all, the Light has an influence on all of us in such a form that there is nowhere to which to escape. It influences the entire world and pushes it with the help of suffering because the AHP is its opposite (the world is a big, egoistic minus), and when the Light influences it, it arouses in it even greater negative feelings, crises, and sufferings.

Ultimately, humanity searches for what to do, but it won’t find anything besides the Light that will be transmitted to them through us as a result of integral education. We need to create and construct all of this for them.

Therefore, in addition to the group work in itself, it must also take care of all the rest to the degree necessary to awaken humanity, which is awakened to a serious question, not about the meaning of life for the sake of some lofty goal, but about the meaning of life in order to be released from the sufferings, from the crises. This is enough so that we begin to take care of them.

When they discover their absolute helplessness, confusion, and inability to solve common earthly problems, and there is global awareness that they have no practical solutions, then we can confidently go out to the world and begin to look for the right ways of to whom and how to bring our method.

After all, the world already requires this unconsciously, even though it is like a child that still doesn’t understand where, what, and how. It doesn’t feel that this is the key to a different existence, to a new reality, to a new dimension, because for most of humanity there is no point in the heart and for us there is, and we feel that something must take place here. There is some kind of a solution here. We feel it only slightly, just to the degree that the Light shines on us, and the Light has no influence on them.

What does “it has no influence” mean? We are all in the field of Light, but they have no inner detector that can determine that there is some kind of illumination, that there are some kind of changes. We do have this detector; this is the so-called “sixth sense.” Therefore, everything depends only upon us.

We have a responsibility for everyone. Moreover, we have received the opportunity to advance spiritually only in order to bring the whole world to this, and if we don’t convey the Upper Light through us and don’t convey anything through us, then we feel only a minute illumination, in other words,  just a state of expectation, a neutral gear, and nothing more than this. Therefore, it is up to us to take this into account.

It could be that there are groups with a good inner preparation. Its members study seriously, come to all the lectures and lessons, but they don’t want to go outside. Ultimately, these groups will transform into a barrier for the spiritual Light, and because they are linked to us, they  burden us and damage all of us.

Therefore, we must be careful, but still compel them, encourage and cheer them gently, trying to explain and attract them to this work. After all, this is needed from a global integral system.

If this is a closed system, then you don’t have the right to abandon some part of it (even though this may not be a small part but about 99.99% of it). Even if it were only 1%,, even then you would not have the right to abandon them because if there is some uncorrected part of an integral, analog, closed system, then the whole mechanism is uncorrected. So if a need for correction is discovered in the world, you must think about all seven billion who require it and somehow activate the mechanism.

The principle of the formation of all of our groups, or of the world group, must also include all of humanity because the time has come to uncover and reveal the general link between us.

Prior to Abraham, only isolated Kabbalists had spiritual attainment. From Abraham and onward, it was groups, and from the times of Baal HaSulam and on, it is all of humanity.

Baal HaSulam wrote in the twenties of the last century that all of humanity is one family. This suggests we must consider them as part of our group. Therefore, the principles and foundations for building the group must include this component: how can we interact with the whole world.

The fear should be as to whether I can delight the Creator. This cannot happen before we attain mutual guarantee and before everyone worries, in other words, is fearful as to whether he worries about others. I cannot turn to the Creator before that. He may only be a goal, while my concern for others is the condition that helps me focus on that goal. But it doesn’t work without that, as it is said: “From the love of the created beings to the love of the Creator.”

We have to organize our work so that it will be clear to us that these two things are connected and that one exists within the other. In order to focus on the Creator, I need the intention by which three components connect in one line: the eye, the first sight and the second sight. Only by connecting these three parts—Israel, the Torah, and the Creator—can I aim and reach the goal.

It is impossible to aim any other way. If I had one eye and one sight I could turn the gun anyway I wanted to. I can only change the axis, a direct line from me, from my eye, if I focus on the group and through it on the Creator.

So I can test the fear—whether I really worry about everyone or whether I only think about the friends, whether all my work is really in order to bestow, whether I bring myself closer to them, whether I worry about equality and connection in the group, like a father who worries about all his children and feels that he is less important than they are. They are most important for him; they are his masters. Their desires determine his actions.

This is how we should feel every member in the group. If we work this way, then the work isn’t done on the corporal plain but on the spiritual one. The Light will begin to go through us and then we will fulfill the method of Kabbalah in the world. It is because the whole world are parts of our soul. We have no choice; we must bring the Light to the world and correct these vessels. Then these vessels, these people, will come running to us on their own wanting to connect to us. They will feel that we have fulfillment for them compared to the bitter exile they are living in now.

This is how the correct fulfillment should be. Everyone should be mutually connected, which means that I worry about everyone as much as I possibly can so that they would have whatever they need. Under such conditions each one will receive the Torah, which means that in response to his actions, the Light will illuminate and work everything out: both one’s inner connections with the friends and the whole group’s connection with the outside world.

Only then will we have the Torah, the Light that Reforms, only if we are at least inclined to mutual guarantee and everyone worries about everyone else. In that case the Light operates in the group and it has the power to disseminate widely to the world.

Otherwise, “it is best to sit and do nothing,” since what can you go out to the public with? If things are not arranged correctly, you can actually bring about actions that are opposite from the Light. It is because the Light always works automatically according to the vessels and to how they are arranged, whether correctly or not. It will show you your mistakes, which means that you will begin to advance by the path of sufferings. This way can be very difficult and unpleasant, especially when such mistakes spread out in a large crowd. So our work has to be very meticulous and accurate

Question: How can we feel all the friends in order to aspire for more connection?

Answer: To do this, we must work together to fulfill one mission. Suppose we get into a submarine and go out to sea. It is going to be a difficult and dangerous experience in which everyone depends on everyone else. I have a very strong feeling that one person’s mistake or another’s malfunction means that we are all going to drown.

We are in a middle of big ocean, thousands of miles away from any shore, deep under the water, and suddenly one of the valves goes out of order. Now it is impossible to pump the water from the ballast tanks. Together, we try to find a solution to resurface.

In such circumstances, in this state, we have to ascend to unity.

Question: From whom do I get a greater desire: the group or the external audience?

Answer: These are two different forms of desire. I get the need for unity and cohesion from the group, and from the external audience, the need for the Creator. Yes, precisely for the Creator.

After all, I myself have no need for Him and neither do my friends. The point in the heart only aims us in His direction but does not give any real momentum; it does not increase the “flesh” of desire; it does not form an empty, hungry vessel.

In uniting with friends, we do not demand the Creator. Nothing pressures or urges us to do that. How much can our own desires spur us? A little bit more and a bit more, but it is an artificial pressure. Everyone is a great guy, everyone is right; there is no such desire between us that will oblige us to act with no exit.

When will it arise? When people require us to respond to their needs, whatever they may be. We will find ourselves under pressure; the need to help them arises, to take care of them and help them, and that’s when we really need the Creator. An inescapable, irresistible desire can come to the created being only under external pressure.

That is why we have no possibility to advance towards the Creator if we do not go out into the world and do not take care of a wide audience.

Even the need to unite in the group will not be saved without outside pressure. Indeed, why do we need to unite? He who wants nothing for himself feels good in a hut in a forest with no amenities. The vessels of bestowal do not feel the need to unite. The points in their hearts do not seek it by themselves.

But what will they bring to the Creator? What kind of receiving vessels are able to lead to correction? It turns out that in fact we have nothing.

On the other hand, the unity of the masses has enormous potential of vessels that have not been manifested yet, both material and especially spiritual.

That is why connection in the group, as well as concern for the public, is possible only under external pressure. Pharaoh helps the sons of Israel escape from Egypt. His army pursues them, “looming over them,” forces them to enter the Red Sea and then stand at Mount Sinai. They do not agree, but after the breaking of the first tablets, they receive the Torah, and the process goes on.

We cannot manage without the pressure from the outside, it is necessary for us. Yes, by uniting between ourselves, we can somewhat neutralize this pressure but not completely.

Question: Does every friend need to connect to the outside desires or is it enough if the world group as a whole is involved in this?

Answer: Both. Both individual and general work is necessary here in various forms. First, we have to get together inside in order to understand how to reach out to the outside audience and then become integrated with it to feel the need in the inner unity again. Then, we need to demand the revelation of the Creator between us in order to give Him pleasure by transferring fulfillment to the external Kli.

Thus, we will take the place of the conductor,  the “transmission channel,” transition link, and realize our destiny.

Question: In our times, when we experience new problems from all different sides every few seconds, and all we do is battle with them. what special means are offered by Kabbalah that do not exist anywhere else?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah explains where all this evil comes from and the reason for our bad states. It asserts that evil does not come from somewhere on the outside, from other people or circumstances, it points directly to the inside, telling me: “You are the cause of all evil!”

A person finds it very difficult to agree with this so one immediately pushes Kabbalah away. However, after Kabbalah points to the cause of evil, it explains that there is just one chance to reach goodness: by correcting the evil in oneself to goodness. And the good isn’t for me, it is for all the others!

So not only do I need to admit that all evil is inside me and to correct myself so that others receive the good, I also need to enjoy this without feeling my state and only worrying about how good others feel. Who will buy such a methodology?!

This is why it is only appropriate for those in whom there is a point of truth, and due to their nature, they are unable to remain in a lie any longer: They need the truth no matter what! This demand comes to a person from nature and not because he is so special and such a great hero.

It’s simply that the desire to reveal the truth becomes more important to him than all the other aspects of life. A new desire to reveal the truth suddenly is born in him; this desire was not there before. Meanwhile, those who just have the one previous desire for our world are willing to live in a lie. So they run after everything that contributes to this lie by satisfying their egoism. Only those people in whom a desire for the truth arose, which they are powerless to suppress, accept the method of Kabbalah with gladness. After all, they have no choice; nothing else will help them. And such people advance.

However, if a person is still able to consent to some compromise, he will run away. We cannot blame or scorn him for this since you would have done the same thing if you were in his place… Such is nature: The stronger of two forces outweighs the other; the mechanics is very simple.

This being where you want to enter.

What does entry mean? In what kind of relationships with people do we want to enter? This is our mission that is to be solved between us.

And your friends found here, just as you have been blessed with love between you, so you will continue and will not separate. This will be to that moment when the Creator will rejoice with you and will be revealed among you. He will reveal the world according to you, and thanks to you, peace will be revealed in the world. As it is said, (Psalms 122:8) “For the sake of my brethren and companions, I shall now speak of peace in you.”

All this happens solely and only within the group and not in any other place. And to the rest of the people we disseminate gradually, with soft steps, treating them with “kit gloves,” because only a few people would truly stand up for the idea of love, friendship, and unity.

Therefore Rabash writes for us: Ultimately the people will be united under one leader who will stand with them against everything that comes against them. And this is what we need to understand very clearly, not to be afraid of anyone and to go forward. This is our idea, this is our goal, and this is our faith! Whoever doesn’t like this can leave. We aren’t harming anyone; we want unity and love of the other according to the global laws of nature upon which our method is based. We are not pursuing any other goal.

Without a doubt these are strong people, with a spirit that is as strong as steel, who will not be moved even a single step backward. These are first-class warriors who understand the meaning of creation and how to act to the degree of their advancement.

And nothing more is needed. We always get as much as is needed in order to do the right action at that moment, and if we do more, we might do the wrong thing. Like a little child that they let play with blocks but not something like an electric screwdriver, as this is not for him. It’s the same thing here; there is nothing to blame the Creator for, for not giving us the tools for our development. He gives them precisely to the degree that we will not err and will not harm ourselves and others.

And they have only one mission, to win in the sacred war for the sake of the Creator. This is to say, to build relationships between us like these (instead of hatred, love), where the Upper Light illuminates us and brings us victory, so, the Creator is the one who fights. We prepare the ground. Therefore all of our life, all of our existence is called “preparation,” and the Creator is the one who will finish it.

Rav Kook, the great Kabbalist, the first Chief Rabbi of the land of Israel, a member of the same generation as Baal HaSulam, (they were very familiar with each other), writes: Our soul is great. It is strong and mighty, it shatters an iron wall, it explodes mountains and hills. It is broader than infinite space, it is impossible to shrink it, it must spread over all those millions of our Israeli souls on all their levels, in all of the cities where they are found, and in all the depths into which they have descended, our soul is extended towards all, all of them, embracing them all, all will be revived and encouraged.

This is essentially that aspiration towards which we turn, the “spiritual commando.”

The main thing is to understand that at each and every moment I’m given exactly what I need in order to advance to my next level. And then I only need to invest my small efforts in order to unite with the others over the background of all of those various problems or circumstances in which I am found. Everything is found in our hands and we lack nothing other than mutual support.

The main difficulty on the way is that we don’t feel any deficiency for the goal of creation. Our deficiency is the opposite because I naturally think only about my inner state, how to complete what I lack, how to get this. And if I had everything, then I wouldn’t think about anything at all.

But I am not prepared to think about how to fulfill what the whole universe lacks, including the still, vegetative, animate, and human levels, or how to fulfill the Creator through them. Does He lack something? I don’t feel His deficiency. Somehow I can feel the deficiencies of others, but not the desire of the Creator. How would I know how to give Him contentment? I do not have the correct, purposeful, deficiency in me, not even the beginning of such a deficiency.

But the final corrected state that already exists in nature affects me; despite the lack of desire, I still am attracted to it, if not in my heart, then at least out of curiosity. Or I can get a deficiency from the environment, from the group. They all keep on saying how important this is, so I also begin to pay attention and work on the deficiencies of others. And in this case, the final state of perfection acts on me and begins to awaken changes in me.

Or I see that as the years go by I still have nothing, so I begin to consider what else I can do. I am not concerned about the importance of the goal, only about the years I wasted. I see that it is up to me to do something!

We must begin working with the environment in order to get a deficiency from it, and in response, the “Surrounding Light” arrives and begins to change me more and more.

The main thing is to bring me to a deficiency, to a Kli, and not to the fulfillment. It is up to me to imagine that I am standing before the “Surrounding Light” all the time and it is only up to me to ask! It is as if I come to the ticket window at a train station, peek in, and ask for a train ticket. It is only up to me to ask, and they will give me a ticket for wherever I choose.

I must feel that I will surely get the ticket but on condition that I know where I need to travel and what the next station is. But how would I know where the next station is? To do this, I have to be included in a group, to invest in it, to disappear into it, and to absorb the deficiency from them. If I come to the ticket window to buy a ticket with this deficiency, then without a doubt I will not miss it; I will take the ticket for the right train, for the next station.

That is how I advance from station to station. And it becomes increasingly clearer each time that the station at the final destination is to bring contentment to the Creator. This is also expressed as a deficiency. Because I begin to give contentment to the creatures, I receive a small part of the desire for giving pleasure to the Emanator, the Creator,” all the time. That is how this desire becomes more and more clearly portrayed.

Even though my request is very simple and I don’t understand exactly what I am asking for yet, I receive the Light in response a full set of the complete ten Sefirot. This also includes the Light corresponding to the stony heart, and I begin to understand that it is impossible for me to use it. This also includes the Light corresponding to the Sefirot of Keter, which belongs to a level above me. Within Keter of the lower, we already feel the Malchut of the upper.

That is how I begin to connect many states from the past, present, and future in me. I already understand how it is up to me to build myself in an increasingly advanced form all the time. I begin to feel the cyclicality, the rotation of the wheels that sometimes turn forward, sometimes backward, but always propel the train forward. The wheels turn in different and opposing directions, butt the train steadily approaches the goal.

In the entire complexity of states, the most important thing is for me is to think about the point of a true prayer, that it must be a prayer for the desire for bestowal. The main thing—it is the desire to seek and not the desire to bestow, which is a Kli, the prayer before the prayer, the deficiency of a deficiency for bestowal. That is specifically what I need.

An assembly of friends is the highest state that we can attain and receive in this world as a vessel that raises a prayer (MAN) to the Creator. All the corrections that we can make are only made by raising our prayer (MAN) to a higher level. The state in which we create and form our prayer (MAN) symbolizes our common connection with all our GE, with the desires to bestow that we raise above the desire to receive.

We cut off the desires to bestow from our desire to receive by giving up the desires to receive, our AHP. If the desires to bestow connect into one whole in bestowal upon the Creator, a prayer (MAN) is created, a request, a deficiency to acquire and to receive the force of bestowal. It’s because a prayer doesn’t even contain a desire to bestow but only a desire to acquire a desire. It’s because a desire is already power.

Such a prayer should be the result of the assembly of friends, of connection. An assembly of friends doesn’t mean that our physical bodies gather in some physical place at a certain time. It’s a spiritual concept, something that we create that exists above the limits of time, motion, and place. It’s about this that we have to constantly maintain and care.

The eyes of all the friends should be focused only on that one point, on the center of our group. We should constantly check what happens to it. When does this group become Shechina, a collection of our desires with regard to the Creator, so that the Light that Reforms will give it such a form that the Creator will be able to dress and settle in it according to the law of the equivalence of form, like a cloud that descends upon us, like fog that fills an indentation? It’s about this that we should constantly worry.
