Question: On one hand you talk about the Ohr Makif as if it is something wise, passionate and alive. But on the other hand, the Light is at absolute rest, and only according to my changes does its influence on me change. How can I resolve this contradiction in me?

Answer: There is nothing wise besides the Ohr Makif (Surrounding Light). Everything else is an egoistic desire for pleasure that at every moment wants to get a maximal feeling of existence and fulfillment.

This desire can grow under the influence of the Light to very high parameters according to the Reshimot (reminiscences) that are found within it. But the desire grows in only one way: to enjoy with even greater feeling, more openly and prominently according to whatever its internal combinations are, but only for enjoyment! It doesn’t know anything else!

The Upper Light, which influences it all the time, invites impulses and stimuli for greater and greater fulfillments in it. And since the egoistic desire becomes further away from a pure nature, it acquires distorted and monstrous forms within us.

But we play all the time and lie to ourselves and others by hiding our essential nature so that it is not seen in us. Behavior like this is typical in humans but not in animals.

The levels of the still, vegetative, and animate nature, operate only according to the principle of “maximal reception with minimal effort” to bring themselves to a state of fulfillment. Desire chooses their actions and evaluates them like this. So the natures of the still, vegetative, and animate don’t make mistakes. They have very clear algorithms.

Every level sees particular options for attaining the most fulfillment of its desire, choosing from them what requires the least effort because efforts deduct from the fulfillment attained. And this results in a simple formula according to which all levels of nature operate.

Look at any healthy animal, how it behaves with precision. But if it is sick, then its natural program errs and the animal begins to behave differently. We see this immediately.

So the Ohr Makif acts everywhere in everything; it is the only thing that exists!

Question: In preparation for dissemination, we go through many difficult physical states. All of the mutual flare-ups of the ego leave a deep scar on the heart, and it is as if you get an immunization so that you will not enter into such intimacy that you could get another wound.

Above what is it worthwhile to rise? Is it above your backing away from revealing your heart so that you won’t get close to such a distance where you get scars, or above concern about feeling the hatred that they leave?

Answer: Do not think about anything but going forward. Therefore, as it is written, “Love covereth all transgressions” (Proverbs 10:12). Never go back to the past.

It appears to the degree that we can correct it. And until then it is forbidden to dwell upon it. It arises only when we are ready to correct it. So, act as if it never happened. That is how we should behave in life.

Question: So what can I ask the Creator for?

Answer: About the future.

Question: But I am not able to forget about the ego flare-ups from the friends.

Answer: If you are ready, then yes; if you are not ready, then no. When you are not ready, then you see that your ego is directing you.

Question: However, the Creator trips me up so that I see my own justification.

Answer: Certainly, He turns you around and confuses you. There is nothing you can do about it. That is how we go forward, and that is how we learn.

Question: In what form should we conduct a first meeting with the external public to leave them with a feeling of warmth?

Answer: Think about what is possible, it makes no difference. It could be that it will be a workshop in the form of a game.

The main thing is for a person to discover that when we connect and unite, then some kind of inner force, warmth, a “raspberry ball,” appears among us. It doesn’t matter what you call it. “Wow! How good this is!” That’s it, nothing more is needed. Only this feeling should remain with them. This is the conclusion of the first meeting!

However, it is necessary for this result to be registered: As we came together in a circle and each one didn’t think about himself but about how to be together with everyone in the center of the circle where all of our yearnings forward are gathered and everything personal is left outside of it, then, within the circle, we discover something new and pleasant, our shared child, our shared feeling, and this was so good, so warm, that when we looked at each other we felt that all of us were close, and this feeling is revealed only when we are connected like this.

I believe the result of the first round of the workshops or simply the meeting should be a raspberry ball. We need to bring people to a state where they feel that through the connection between them some special property is discovered that gives them warmth, hope, confidence, and transformation of the soul.

We can satisfy the desire of the community, find favor in their eyes, only through heartfelt emotion. We will not succeed with anything else!

What we have is something unique. Every person deep inside feels that this is precisely what he needs. We need to awaken this feeling and sensation in him, direct and reveal it, like a child that we educate: “Look at this; do that. Oh! You see, did you feel it?”

Question: How can we get rid of the fear that we are not finding favor in the eyes of the community?

Answer: All of this is nonsense. If you know what state you need to bring them to, then you have no fear. You have turned on a precise knowledge of levels and states, an algorithm, which is a system of successive actions according to permanent laws and with a final result. You need to chew on this with them.

A Kabbalistic rule says, “The end of the action is in the preliminary thought.” For the Creator, the beginning and end don’t exist because everything is determined at the outset that conveys the final completion. That is the same thing we should aspire to in our actions. I need to precisely know the final result and how I lead people towards it and see the result in every step I take.

Question: Some friends, when they go out to people, cynically believe that we are involved with education in order to teach them how to live. But the external public feels very strongly that through their arrogance they are putting themselves above the public. How can this be avoided so that we can be sincere towards the general public?

Answer: Personally I look at the external public as a public that doesn’t know itself but has enormous potential. In every housewife or street cleaner there is a latent, much greater potential than exists in me. So I have a very careful and helpful attitude towards them.

After all, in principle, it is they and not us who carry a tremendous desire, and when it begins to manifest in them, we see that street cleaner or housewife with such bottomless desires and such unlimited possibilities of adherence to constitute the entire shattered universal mass that doesn’t exist within us.

So, on the one hand, there exist actions in a line (Kav), and on the other hand, actions in circles (Igulim). We learn this in the second section of “The Study of the Ten Sefirot.”

If we are acting in a line, in this case, 99% of the general public don’t exist for us but only those who have the exact intention toward the Creator. However, if we are talking about a circle, about Malchut de Ein Sof (world of Infinity), about Ohr Makif (Surrounding Light), it belongs to 99% of humanity. There, everything is hidden in them.

So, we need to relate to them with the intention of the long run—not today, but in a few more years—but everything will be discovered from there, as it is written, “Be careful with the children of the poor, for the Torah will go forth from them” (Nedarim 81a), meaning the Light.

If ever I personally had a prejudice, a disregard, for Asians, South Americans, or Africans in comparison to Europeans and North Americans, in the process of becoming acquainted with them, my opinion has changed radically. They are not just equal in my understanding, but have changed places. Oddly enough, they are the bearers of such intellectual and analytic abilities, such potential of scrutiny and analysis, that doesn’t exist among the Europeans.

So, the circular Kli (vessel), the masses, are the bearers of very great potential possibilities and immense desires that will be discovered later, and with them, the Creator will be revealed..

Question: How must one answer the question about why is it necessary to love your friend as yourself?

Answer: It is because the world is integral and the mutual integral connection between everyone in human language is called “love,” mutual love for each other, like cells in one body. This is called, “And you shall love your friend as yourself.” This means that there must be such a connection between people as there is between all the other parts of creation.

In nature everything is in the right connection and union between them, except for humans. People violate this unity and distorts the still, vegetative, and animate nature. As soon as people begin to correct themselves, nature will automatically begin to be changed.

Nature will begin to rise because all parts of creation are included in each other, but in particular on that level called Adam (human). So “love your friend” is implementing the essential law of creation, the connection between all of its parts.

Question: How is it possible to extract the deficiencies from the 99% of humanity most fully and correctly?

Answer: If we work with the general public correctly, we will begin to feel such a deficiency from them that we cannot sit still, so much so that will it stab us from all sides. It will be unpleasant, uncomfortable, sometimes frightening, and sometimes as shame. These are terrible sensations that will appear to us when working systematically with the external public. I hope that the group will compare and examine its yearning to rally around itself as its greatest opportunity and simultaneously be careful about how great the deficiency of the masses is and how much they understand us and are impressed by this.

So we need to prepare a very understandable and simple booklet for them that makes it clear and understandable that within our method is concealed a truth that will help them to rebuild the family, relationships with children, relationships at work, will make them healthy, will clarify a multitude of problems, etc. I would really like us to have this brochure that will always balance our influences, our meetings with the wider public.

The rules of the group, the rules of the workshop in a circle, and the rules the global world should behave according to today are the same rules. They are the rules of mutual integration, mutual cooperation, and connection to such a degree that we become like one person with one heart.

In the upcoming convention in America we must learn that the wisdom of Kabbalah and the wisdom of connection are the same thing. The wisdom of connection that we are now going out to the world is the first explanation. In the meantime there is no mention of the upper worlds and their structure in the terms of Kabbalah. This is because in the meantime, in any case, we haven’t discovered them.

But after this, we will truly begin to relate to one another with an intention of bestowal. The moment we do enough exercises and attract the Light that Reforms from Above, we will suddenly feel that we are relating to our friends with an intention of bestowal. And then within this relationship we discover the Light: Nefesh, Ruach, Neshama, Haya, and Yechida of the world of Assiya.

And after that, the Light will become stronger and stronger, according to my attitude towards the friends. In the Kelim I correct, in accord with the intensity of the connection between me and others, I discover the Light of NRNHY.

And the levels of spiritual ascent about which the wisdom of Kabbalah speaks are the distances between us. They are determined according to the degree of our approaching each other, the connections of our hearts, our desires into one desire.

The higher that I ascend on this ladder from this world to Olam Ein Sof, so I approach the shattered souls more strongly, and become like one whole body together with them. And then all the Lights are gathered and concentrated into one beam, and all the Kelim (vessels) are connected into one Kli and we return to a state called Malchut de Ein Sof.

The main goal of the convention is that we speak about the wisdom of Kabbalah and the wisdom of connection as one wisdom, one method, without any division. There is no artificial division that exists between them. This is the same wisdom that explains how we—this humanity and this world that is scattered and pulverized into fragments—become one whole again.

And so our practical work today is to go out to the whole world with the wisdom of connection or with integral education. And after we begin to discover the connections between us, we discover that we have reached the wisdom of connection, which is essentially the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Question: You said that we must organize workshops on acute questions that appear as a result of interactions. Is it necessary to promote these situations, since they certainly could accumulate and then appear like abscesses, or is it preferable to set up workshops in advance?

Answer: Try to do everything that you can and the Creator will turn it as needed. Your concern for tomorrow is right, but it must be more organized. This means I cannot say, “What will be, will be since everything is in the hands of the Creator.” I don’t realize free choice in that way.

Likewise, I cannot say that everything depends upon me, so I don’t want to pay attention to anything. This also is not correct. In general before the action we say,“Everything depends upon me,” and we say it this way as if it truly depended only on us.  At the end of the action, we say that all of this was determined from the start by the Creator and happened only according to His decision.

As a general rule, these two situations, these two disparate equations, are comparable only beyond the Machsom (barrier) when we begin to work with the middle line.  Until then, we only make attempts to connect them. Either everything depends upon me or everything depends upon the Creator. So, first try to take everything into your account, and after that, attribute it to the account of the Creator.

Question: We are going through an immense number of states. In one of the lessons you gave advice to record these states and follow that with how we are changed in our attitudes towards one another and the outside world. I would like to clarify how to do this.

Answer: It is advisable to record our states because this shakes us up and obligates us a bit. Through scrutiny of those states, I suddenly begin to catch myself thinking: “But I really didn’t think this way yesterday. The day before yesterday I didn’t act this way. I behaved this way before and now quite differently.”

This means I am begin to notice changes within me. I recommended recording your feelings so that you will feel that serious changes are gradually happening in you that bring you closer to essentially new states.

Question: Does every person evaluate this individually or should the entire group do this as a result of the shared work?

Answer: The group also. But in a group all kinds of changes can happen all the time: people come and go. As a result of this, the influence of the individual on society is discovered and that of the society on the individual. But in general the group can evaluate its state, how much it reacted before in an unhealthy way to various actions by someone or something else, whereas now it understands that it must be more patient.

But the main thing is for everyone to set a goal for himself: “I want to see how much I have changed.” These can be very serious changes under the influence of Ohr Makif, which must be discovered in such a group, for you have indeed produced it.

So you need to experience very serious changes and this must be seen: You were lazy, you have become more diligent, you were scattered and lacked attention, you have changed for the good. Everyone changes differently, but it must be recognized.

And the main thing is that you feel your inner connection more, which can appear even as a result of physical activities. You always show concern for your common “baby” that is born among you, your shared general desire and common aspiration.

And this common general state is very valuable to you. It becomes so important for each one that personal life is not important to him at all; the main thing is not to obstruct our society, our common sensation, and our common connection that has already begun to appear and has its own right to exist.

And this is the Adam (human) that we are creating. This is that common part of Malchut that we compose together and in which soon, after the composition accumulates enough power, the Creator will be revealed.
