The War Of Gog And Magog, Part 4

275The Force that Leads to the Intention for the Sake of Bestowal

Comment: The 16th century Kabbalist the Ari wrote that the numerical value of the words “Gog” and “Magog” is 70. This probably explains what was written in The Book of Zohar that Gog will bring all the 70 nations of the world with it to Israel.

My Response: This is a complete Kli (vessel). The Creator will lead all the desires created by Him to a common state where they will have to discern all the opposite relationships among themselves in order to ultimately unite into harmony.

Comment: And the prophets write that Gog will gather all the nations of the world and lead them to war against Israel.

My Response: Yes, because Israel is not considered one of the 70 nations, it is not among them, but arises as the sum total of all the nations of the world when in an attempt to fight among themselves, they begin to understand, under the influence of this force called Israel, that it is drawing them to the Creator (Yashar-El—straight to the Creator). In this case, Israel leads all the nations of the world through the war of Gog and Magog to the Creator.

Question: As we know, Abraham created a group of 70 nations assembled on an ideological basis in Ancient Babylon, and they became the people of Israel. And then all of the 70 nations of the world began to fight against the people of Israel. It turns out, as it is said in Kabbalah, that “the people of Israel” means intentions and the “70 nations” means desires?

Answer: Correct.

Comment: And since the Creator Himself is the property of bestowal and love, then, in principle, this property should win.

My Response: Israel is the representative of the Creator in this world because it gives direction to desires. There are 70 desires that must unite with each other with the intention “straight to the Creator.”

Question: Does “Israel will win” mean that every desire of the nations of the world will be given the correct intention for the sake of bestowal?

Answer: Yes. In no way does it imply here that someone is destroying someone else. It is just that these 70 desires that exist in every person and in general in all of humanity have an egoistic intention to act only for their own sake.

And Israel is the force that is able to show, convince, prove, and lead all these desires to gaining intention for the sake of bestowal, to mutual bestowal and love. And then all these so-called 70 nations of the world, i.e., all the desires that are in every person, are directed to the Creator.

Within The Framework Of Spiritual Action

747.01Comment: About three and a half thousand years ago, according to the Torah (Exodus Chapter 5),Moses demanded from the Pharaoh of Egypt to release the Israeli people from slavery in the name of God. But Pharaoh did not listen to him and ten plagues fell on Egypt.

From an academic point of view, it is believed that there was no such event, and even if there were, it was not on the scale described in the Torah. In religion, of course, nothing is tested, they just believe that it happened. Kabbalah does not consider these events as historical events at all but asserts that they are about spiritual processes that the people and Moses himself went through.

My Response: First, the Torah does not speak about individual people, but about the solely internal issues of all mankind. Secondly, we are not talking about physical problems, although they may have been manifested in material life in some way. But that is not the point at all.

Originally, all of humanity was created from an egoistic desire to enjoy. This desire goes through certain stages of its birth and development to the point where people begin to understand that they can no longer remain in egoism and must somehow get out of it.

The group that Abraham led from Ancient Babylon to the land of Canaan, or rather his descendants, the sons of his grandson Jacob, came to Egypt. As described in the Torah, they lived there for a long time and went through different stages, good and bad. But, in principle, the Torah speaks about the internal states of these people.

Moreover, when we talk about the people as a large number, we do not mean their number, but their spiritual power. That is, all this must be perceived and weighed within the framework of spiritual actions.

The same goes for the Egyptian executions. Executions are actions where a person or an entire group comes together under the blows of their egoism.

First, egoism must put pressure on them. Therefore, when the Pharaoh, symbolizing the ego, enslaves them, and when they feel they are servile, they are obliged to somehow connect between themselves to help one another. After all, if a person is beaten, he begins to shrink internally. This brings him to a completely different state where he tries to free himself from the ego. This attempt at liberation from egoism is the way out of Egypt.

But to get out of Egypt, this group must agree to be willing to rise above the ego. As a single spiritual union, called Partzuf (system), they must undergo a special purification from egoism.

Since this spiritual structure consists of ten parts, ten Sefirot, their purification consists of ten releases from the ego, which are called the ten blows or Egyptian plagues.

Confrontation Between Abraham And Nimrod

115.06Comment: One of the famous Kabbalists, commentator of the Tanakh, David Altschuler wrote that before the time of King Nimrod, all people were equal and none of them rose to dominate others. But Nimrod began to dominate and rule on Earth. Then people began to build the Tower of Babel.

MyResponse: The Tower of Babel, Migdal Bavel in Hebrew, from the word “lebalbel” (confuse), means confusion, mixing of languages. This means that egoism became higher than people, and they ceased to understand each other.

Question: Here two characters appeared, Abraham and Nimrod, symbolizing good and evil, a positive and a negative force. Abraham claimed that it was necessary to unite above the contradictions that had arisen, and Nimrod proposed to disperse and settle all over the world. What is the resistance here?

Answer: Abraham called for the same unity as before. Only earlier it was natural, and now when contradictions rose up, it was necessary to achieve connection above them. Nimrod advocated for what is called capitalistic development, for a rational decision.

Both of them were right. Because, on the one hand, Abraham said: “We lived well. Now egoism has risen, and it separates us. Let us unite!” Nimrod, however, thought: “Why do we need to unite? Everything that comes from nature is good. If egoism has appeared, it will develop us. Why should we level ourselves again?”

Question: It is clear that a conflict arose between them. But since the Torah does not speak about corporeality, what does it mean, from an internal point of view, that two forces manifest in a person: Abraham and Nimrod? What are these forces?

Answer: Abraham called on people who possessed these two points to raise the point of unity, to raise it even higher, because it is for this purpose that egoism was developing.

Nimrod claimed that egoism was necessary for its own self, so that by using it we will begin to develop corporeally and technologically.

Nimrod, from the word “mered” (revolution), opposed integral nature. He was convinced that egoism should be used wherever possible.

Question: Is egoism not nature? It seems that Nimrod was going in a natural way, following his nature.

Answer: It depends on what he was following. Nature is based on balance and is in internal homeostasis. Egoism, like cancer, violates everything.

It turns out that, on the one hand, nature is built on competition, and on the other hand, it is built on interaction, on the balance of two opposite systems. One system is Nimrod, and the other is Abraham. The problem is how to balance them.

When Can The Israelites Be Called A Nation?

933Comment: Now Israel has gained some independence in this land.

My Response: This is not independence at all, but only a condition for us to start working on our real independence so that we, while living here, form a community called a nation (although it is not a nation), which would create a serious mutual connection between us in equivalence of form to the Creator.

The fact that Israel now exists is only a condition for the creation of a group within which, in mutual consent and love, in the cultivation of these qualities, one can gradually come to the quality of mutual bestowal, that is, to the revelation of the Creator. Then we will gain independence; otherwise we will not.

Then it will be possible to call this group, which will connect with each other, a nation. Otherwise, it is not a nation, but just a rabble, broken parts of a former nation who were once united on the condition of mutual bestowal and love.

Question: Then this group, this united nation called Israel, will include not only the Israelis living on this land, right?

Answer: Anyone who wants to. Just like in ancient Babylon. Who came to Abraham? Those who had a point in the heart, a craving, an inner deposit, that I want this, that this is above everything else. Such people will join us. The rest will not, they will just leave, they will not live here. I see such a migration in the future.

Here will come those who have a point in the heart, who want to become the nation of Israel, who aspire directly to the Creator, who gain spiritual independence.

Question: What about the people who once came here?

Answer: They came because they were pushed out by fate, pushed out by the suffering, the hatred of all mankind. It is correctly dictated by the fact that we are not fulfilling our mission: to bring correction to the whole world, to all nations.

That is, all that ancient Babylon, which is now settled around the globe, when in real need for this, must learn the science of its own correction, of improving itself, of rising to the level of true independence from all suffering and its source, in order to become eternal and perfect.

Resettlement Of The Babylonians

747.01Comment: There are some similarities between the way Abraham and his thousand followers left Babylon and the way the Israelites left Egypt. The difference is that Abraham was not pursued and the Israelites were pursued by Pharaoh and his army.

My Response: Abraham divided the people in a very simple way. He left most of the Babylonians, knowing that they with their egoism would scatter from each other anyway.

This is described in the “Great Commentary” (Midrash Rabbah), which refers to the same time as the “Book of Creation” of Abraham.

Thus, we have sources written four and a half thousand years ago. Of course, this is not recent history, but in principle, we can believe it because as we reveal these ancient stories, we see more and more that what is written in those books is really true.

Although Babylon was originally inhabited by a single nation of about three thousand people, they were still a collection of many ancient tribes, clans. Abraham was also from a tribe called “Ivri.” That’s why he was called “Abraham the Ivri.”

The famous historian Josephus Flavius, whom we can trust, describes very clearly how people settled all over the Earth: one part of the Babylonians went to Germany, another to the Apennines, a third to the East, to India and China, a fourth to the north, toward Russia, a fifth to Africa, and so on. Although he calls this by other names, but, in principle, you can guess.

Gifts From Abraham

541Abraham was a very famous, respected person in ancient Babylon. Therefore, his Kabbalistic teachings successfully spread among the Babylonians. It is said that he presented them with the whole idea of future spiritual development.

Rambam, the great philosopher of the 12th century, wrote that thousands of people followed Abraham. Thousands! He led them away from Babylon into the Land of Israel. Those who did not follow him, because they did not feel an inner predisposition to become similar to the Creator, decided to scatter around the globe. The original sources say that Abraham gave them so-called “gifts.”

The gifts mean that he has taught them all sorts of other methods that are based not on overcoming egoism and not on correcting it in the middle line in order to advance above the ego and rise from HGT to HBD. On the contrary, these methods are based on reducing egoism, belittling it, and being satisfied with modest and small things. In other words, Abraham gave the Babylonians the beginnings of beliefs and religions. This is how they settled all over the Earth.

We see that those spiritual teachings, especially the Eastern ones, as well as religions, are built on being modest, not standing out among others. They do not encourage the development of egoism and even the development of machinery and technology.

These theories are completely opposite to the method of Kabbalah, which says: the more egoism, the better because with its help we can rise and correct ourselves.

However, if a person has no desire for correction, then it is better for him to belittle his egoism and keep his head down.

“You Shall Not Take The Name Of The Lord, Your God, In Vain”

161Question: Does the third commandment: “You shall not take the name of the Lord, your God, in vain” mean that you cannot attract the force of the Creator in order to perform any egoistic action?

Answer: You can act by the force of the Creator only to the extent of your similarity to Him, to the extent of your uniting with Him.

Question: Can you not summon its influence upon yourself or use it egoistically for your own sake to defeat nations, enrich yourself, and so on?

Answer: This is out of the question!

Question: And if I do not correspond to Him, then I can ask or not ask, but He still will not influence me?

Answer: You can ask. But it is precisely that the Creator helps you be like Him. For this purpose, it is always possible and desirable to appeal. Such a request will be granted.

Two Systems: Abraham And Nimrod

232.05Kabbalah says that there are two systems inside a person. They exist within us and must exist in society. But society cannot properly adapt to these systems. Therefore, in the days of ancient Babylon, Nimrod’s system developed—capitalistic, and the group system of Abraham—Kabbalistic.

In our time, they are beginning to gradually find each other and connect with each other. The fact is that the system of Abraham must be realized in all people, in the general system, according to the principle Love your neighbor as yourself. Nimrod’s system is decaying, as we find that egoism, if not balanced, is the greatest evil.

Therefore, only now, after 3,500 years, they are beginning to converge as we begin to understand that it is necessary to balance both systems. They are balanced in the form of receiving for the sake of bestowal.  Receiving is a property of Nimrod, bestowal is a property of Abraham. This is how they should be realized in society today.

As One Family

933Question: Man has developed throughout history, and at some point, he had time to think about the meaning of life. The desire to comprehend the hidden forces of nature woke up 3,800 years ago in the inhabitants of ancient Babylon.

The primary sources say that before that all of humanity was like one family, although we understand that by the time they were written, life had already existed for tens of thousands of years, and people were killing each other. It is not clear what does “like one family” mean?

Answer: The fact is that the friendly relations between the Babylonians were due to a certain historical development. In those days in Mesopotamia, between the Tigris and the Euphrates, external conditions favored a peaceful life. The abundance of water and the flooding of rivers contributed to a good harvest.

People ate fish, garlic, baked barley bread, and raised cows and sheep. Nature was so generous to them that they did not have to win back its fruits from each other. Therefore, they lived in relative balance with each other.

The Torah says that “there was one language and one dialect throughout the whole earth.” This means that people understood each other. It is not about the language. They did not need more than what they had.

On one hand, nature favored them and in return for a little effort on their part, gave them everything. On the other hand, they were not yet so selfish as to take from nature more than necessary. It was a correct, beautiful, natural existence. In Kabbalah, this is called the zero level of egoism.

There was ]complete understanding between the Babylonians, as in a normal family. Then suddenly there was a surge of egoism, and they immediately wanted to divide into classes: the rich, the poor, the strong, and so on. So, all sorts of insignia appeared among them.

The Essence Of The Level Of Erev Rav (Mixed Multitude)

547.06Question: If Israel are people who descended from Abraham, then when did the Erev Rav (Mixed Multitude) appear?

Answer: The Erev Rav appeared in the time of Abraham. Practically, they were constantly developing and became even stronger in Egypt. Egypt does not mean a geographical place but a person’s spiritual state.

The group which Abraham assembled in Ancient Babylon moved to another place, meaning ascended to another level, to the Land of Canaan (Eretz Canaan). This means that its level was constantly changing.

When they reached such a state that they began to feel themselves in Egypt, that is, under the burdening of egoism, the force called the mixed multitude (Erev Rav) was revealed in them and pulled them back.

The fact is that until you reach final correction, this force runs parallel to you, helps you with its opposition, and points out your flaws like any opponent shows where he can harm you. That is, the Erev Rav gives you an understanding of where you can improve yourself.
