Spiritual And Corporeal Freedom

Laitman_712_03Question: Does spiritual freedom depend on the corporeal world?

Answer: Spiritual freedom doesn’t depend on the corporeal world in any way. Special upper forces are revealed in a Kabbalist and help him attain spiritual freedom and provide him with the attribute of love and bestowal that enables him to exit himself and float above his egoism. Therefore, he doesn’t feel the limitations of his body and this world. There is no connection between matter and spirit, and a person can ascend the spiritual levels and, at the same time, remain the way he is in the corporeal world with the same character, the same tastes, and the same habits.

Question: Does that mean that there is nothing spiritual in matter?

Answer: Absolutely not. The still, vegetative, and animate levels belong to our corporeal world. These levels of development operate according to the egoistic law of the conservation of energy. According to this law, every particle wants to sustain only itself and at the expense of others, by whatever means. What’s important is constantly to maximize its condition.

Question: Does corporeal freedom depend on the spiritual world?

Answer: In earlier generations, corporeal freedom did not depend on the spiritual world. However, today, it is indeed so because in our times, the spiritual world and the corporeal world are getting closer. Therefore, we encounter increasingly greater problems in the corporeal world and, at the same time, more opportunities to discover the spiritual world. If we perceive and understand the spiritual world, we will be able to affect our corporeal world.

An Unconditional Basic Income

laitman_546_02Question: Humanity is arriving gradually at the conclusion that if every person had an unconditional basic income of let’s say 600 to 800 Euros, it would be enough for him to live in peace and not worry about the future, and thus would allow the development of his brain.

Answer: In confusing ways, but nevertheless mankind is still moving to the so-called communism. All of it comes from the most ordinary materialistic tendencies that stabilize society

Question: You have said that the level of unemployment in the world is going to rise.

Answer: Yes, and unemployment should go along with education because otherwise it will end badly.

Basically, a person doesn’t need to be preoccupied with sustaining his temporary body because it needs very little. It is much better to provide the body with ordinary, simple, healthy food so that everyone would be healthy and happy. This is the reason that we must make sure that everyone has whatever he needs in order to live decently.

If we reach this state, a person will not demand more as a result of the right education, and would dedicate all of his time to changing himself in order to ascend to the next level of our existence.

Question: Do you think that, as a result of such education, a person would not stop by a shop window in order to enjoy the sight of a shiny worthless object?

Answer: It will not happen. There will be no more shop windows and no worthless objects because as a result of the right education, a person will not find that attractive anymore.

This is the reason that I support the idea of an unconditional basic income and unconditional basic education.

The “Russians” Are Leaving Israel

laitman_627_1Comment: More than 60% of people who left Israel were immigrants from the former Soviet Union. According to the latest statistics published by the Central Bureau of Statistics, about 150,000 young people who came to Israel from the CIS have left Israel because of the high cost of living, and have moved to Canada and the US. It is a trend that has been on the rise especially in the last couple of years.

According to statistics, in the 25 years that have passed since the last repatriation,  150,000 -200,000 people left the country due to their inability to prosper financially. The bulk of the people who went to Canada and the US, are specialists in the field of hi-tech.

Answer: Of course, because it is easier to live there. But I want to point out another attribute that is typical of newcomers. People from all over the world, who belong to different religions, both Jews and non Jews, for example, aspire to reach our organization Bnei Baruch. If we could absorb all those who are interested, I believe that about 5,000 – 10,000 people would come to Israel. And they wouldn’t be worried about where to find a job and what to do, but would mainly care about being here together in the Land of Israel in order to build a new united society.

It all depends on a person’s goal. A person who comes to Israel not knowing what the right goal is, will certainly prefer to be better off abroad, and it makes no difference where.

Comment: They know the purpose of their coming to Israel. They simply want a bigger house, a good car…

Answer: That’s right, but you don’t need to come to Israel in order to fulfill the same goals people have everywhere else. We should understand the difference between members of our Bnei Baruch organization who live all over the world, and everyone else. We are managed by a spiritual goal that gives a person clear direction about what is important in life.

When the importance of the spiritual goal and the spiritual ideology awakens in a person, everything else becomes less important. He truly wants to come here and agrees to any condition as long as his soul can advance, develop, and be filled, while the body is provided with its basic necessities.

Question: Are you saying that the future of Israel is mainly spiritual?

Answer: The future of Israel is only spiritual and only those who are connected to spirituality will be able to live in it. There is no other reason for Israel to exist. No matter how much the Jews are pressured in other counties, they will always find a quiet place to live there. I have met many of them in different places in America. I have been to conventions that Israelis who left Israel organized. I have lectured there and have learned what characterizes these people. They don’t care where they live, whether it is in Phoenix, Arizona, in desolate places with terrible climates that are even worse than the climate in Israel. They don’t care, as long as they live as far away from here as possible.

They believe that the atmosphere of fear is growing in Israel, and they feel there is less pressure and threats where they are, and that they have a greater sense of security. But in fact, statistically there are many more violent events there per resident than here. Therefore this isn’t the reason, but the point is that in Israel they have no filling. This land was meant only for people who are correctly and ideologically aimed at the meaning of life. Therefore, the future depends only on us!

New Life #362 – Setting Goals In Life

New Life #362 – Setting Goals In Life
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

A person has different goals in his lifetime. How does that affect his life and what goals should he set for himself according to the current trend of our development?

Summary

Does fate determine our goals in life or do we?

– There are people who set their own goals and who strive to attain them. Others flow with current of life.

– It is best to set your own goals in life that go along with the current trend of our development.

Nature obliges us to be increasingly more connected, so the future profession will be the wisdom of connection.

– Setting the right internal goal, connecting to others, will make the attainment of external goals much easier.

– We are egoists by nature while the world around us is becoming increasingly more connected, which leads to a clash.

New Life 540 – Jewish Culture: Were We Slaves?

New Life 540 – Jewish Culture: Were We Slaves?
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

Why are we in a state of slavery today like we were in ancient Egypt? How can we break away from the domination of Pharaoh? What will the life of the nation of Israel be like once they truly become a free nation in their land?

Israel is divided and torn and the ego is celebrating. This is the slavery in Egypt, but we are not aware of that.

Being a slave is a more advanced state in which a person already recognizes the domination of the ego over him.
The wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us that man’s nature is intentionally evil so that he will gradually get to know it and differentiate himself from it.

The first disconnection from the ego is called the exodus from Egypt. Then during the counting of the Omer (the days between Passover and Shavuot) we correct ourselves. It is like an internal inventory where I locate all the egoistic inclinations in me and correct them.

In that case, the whole Passover story is about the correction of the relations between people. We will feel the upper level of our existence in the loving relations between us and will merge with eternity and wholeness.

It is customary to use a new set of dishes in Passover; it symbolizes a new set of relationships between me and others.

The Seder describes the sequence of actions a person should perform in order to exit his ego, his evil inclination. The wisdom of Kabbalah speaks quite a lot about the ego because it is our nature. Egoism means a negative attitude to others, using others and taking advantage of them.

The Passover Seder plate symbolizes different forces that operate and lead us into Egypt and take us out of there. Let’s examine ourselves and discover that the ego dominates us and ruins us, and agree to escape it.
