Success Is A Relative Concept

laitman_539Question: Can there be success without competition?

Answer: It depends on what you consider success to be. For example, if I am criticized in newspapers, I consider this a success: they have paid attention to me. Someone else may consider this a misfortune, but I don’t care.

I believe that if someone is right, let him be scolded, so what? Perhaps people cannot comprehend his actions in any other way. So success is a relative concept.

I do not mind being criticized in all publications and on the Internet, even if I am called the most horrible and harmful for humanity. In some way it draws attention to what I strive to deliver to the world. And when they read my articles maybe they will be impacted somehow.

Question: Why do you need that kind of success?

Answer: People will become interested in why I am being criticized, and thus they will get to learn and feel a little bit about what I am saying concerning correcting the world and the fact that human beings have an opportunity to come to a better state of existence instead of a third world war. I want to leave some lasting imprint on them.

Question: Let’s suppose that you are given permission to publish four lines. What would you write?

Answer: It goes without saying that nothing can be explained in four lines. I can offer people replacing suffering with happiness, fear of death with a sense of eternity. And if they are not indifferent to these things, everything else can be learned from within the method itself.

The Contact Point With The Creator

laitman_740_02The Torah, “Numbers” 9:6 – 9:8: But there were certain men, who were unclean by the dead body of a man, so that they could not keep the passover on that day; and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day.

And those men said unto him: “We are unclean by the dead body of a man; wherefore are we to be kept back, so as not to bring the offering of the Lord in its appointed season among the children of Israel?” And Moses said unto them: “Stay ye that I may hear what the Lord will command concerning you.”

Who were unclean by the dead body of a man, means connecting in their internal work to their dead desires that are aimed at self-contentment and not to the intention of in order to bestow unto others.

A person who suddenly sinks into these desires cannot be purified of them and corrected. In that case not only does he not enter the land of Israel, but he cannot advance in his spiritual ascent either.

And Moses said unto them: “stay ye that I may hear what the Lord will command concerning you.” Moses doesn’t decide anything on his own because it is merely a point in us that yearns for the Creator. When it receives a desire from below, it has to find the contact with the Creator. This is what Moses’ function and actions come down to.

He is loyal both to the people and to the Creator because he is the point of contact between them, which means between all the uncorrected attributes and the upper property of love and bestowal.

He has no self, and is therefore called the Lord’s slave, as it says: “There has not been a prophet as great as Moses.” In other words, it is absolute bestowal in both directions.

Fear Of Death And Incarnations

Laitman_709Question: What in me is afraid of death?

Answer: My physical body is not afraid of death, the ego is. It is afraid of not being able to fill itself and raise itself to the level of simple existence.

The matter is that when our egoistic desires receive pleasure, then death is already felt. In the actions of the ego, in its use, it is felt that everything has ended in the rejection of the light from within it, meaning, its death. Thus it can never be filled. Each filling for the ego, is to come closer to death.

Question: What is there after death?

Answer: Nothing. The physical body ceases to exist, but the Reshimot (spiritual information) remain. On the corporeal level they have realized something in a certain way, at a certain time, in certain circumstances.

But their spiritual level of implementation has not yet taken place since a person has not yet reached this level. Therefore, he has to go through different circumstances.

After one begins the next incarnation of the soul in a newly born body, then again a long line of growth is carried out, during which the unconscious correction of Reshimot is carried out. And then again a person is given the opportunity to reach the level of development of his soul, meaning reaching the level of desire to bestow as against the desire to receive.

The Focal Point Of Unity

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: When I pass through the streets of Tel Aviv or Jerusalem, I look around and think, how is it possible to unite? How?

Answer: The idea is that you are evaluating everything according to your powers and understand that this is impossible. But we didn’t have these powers to start with, so there is no reason to look for them within us. We must understand that these powers are found deep within our nature. We only need to begin with unity and immediately we will feel how they awaken within us, making us close, and we become like one person with one heart.

The same thing will happen in parallel with the rest of the people. All of us exist in a single field, and the Jews within it as the source of unity, from there waves spread to all of humanity. To the degree that we unite, humanity will suddenly begin to calm down, will begin to smile at each other, and peace and well-being will prevail.

As soon as we attain our unity, it will be clear that we are not 16 million Jews in the world, but half a billion, for example. For somewhere the ten tribes of the people of Israel are roaming; they will also join us and begin to unite with the same method. And then others will begin to unite, the heaviest and most distant parts of humanity. Everything depends on the focal point only and that is the people of Israel!

Imaginary And True Freedom, Part 5 – Freedom After Solution Of The Problem

laitman_424_02Question: As a child I had the feeling that the whole world was a pot. The sky was the cover and I was in the bottom of the pot like a small insect.

All the stories about the Earth being round and large paled in comparison to this internal feeling of being isolated, imprisoned, trapped without an exit. What is this feeling?

Answer: This is a very real feeling about our closed world. Moreover, it is closed such that, on one hand, we see ourselves in some kind of immense space, but on the other hand, this space is dead, it has nothing in it.

And even if we were found not on this tiny ball but in another galaxy, it would be the same thing, I would not be able to escape from myself. Only there would be other conditions of the inanimate nature, and what else?

We truly are found in a “pot with a lid,” and if we don’t come out of this situation, then all of us can expect a bitter end; there is nothing to do here. But this feeling helps people consider why nature created us as intelligent beings and developed us from some inanimate particle to the most complex organisms; after all, it couldn’t be that this was purposeless.

As far as it seems, behind the physical, internal, and psychological organism (which is even more internal), there are still further abilities and possibilities, secret forces and characteristics that must be discovered in us.

As the human once emerged from being an ape, so the human should have something else in its internal development. We are going towards it and the wisdom of Kabbalah explains to us how to develop it within ourselves.

Today humanity has already reached a feeling of a final confrontation in its mutual relationships, and this must be solved because the constant deepening of confrontations between nations and peoples is very primitive, limited, closed and doesn’t permit us to break out of the gigantic “pot” of our world.

So the same drive that today dominates over larger and larger masses will bring us to a solution of this problem. We see according to the pervading depression in the world, according to the need for drugs, according to the wars and endless disorder, that humanity is seeking an escape, but doesn’t know what to do.

People are again turning to religions and don’t find anything in them, which means that an opposition is appearing among the masses themselves.

This is a search for a solution to the problem. It is deeper than freedom or lack of freedom. In other words, if I see some kind of purpose ahead of me that provides no freedom, I will agree to it; and if I don’t see it, then this is already the end.

But how much this goal is connected to freedom, we don’t know. In fact it is always connected to freedom, but today we cannot understand what this is.

According to Kabbalah, if you want to be free, you must stop being concerned about going deeper into yourself and musts begin to work outside of yourself, for the sake of others.

And when instead of being concerned about yourself, you begin to be concerned about others, instead of loving yourself, you love and feel them, and they become your only source of concern and love, your thoughts and drives, then you will be free. Free from what? Free from yourself. It is only in this case that we have a possibility of exiting ourselves.

Otherwise we are always deceiving ourselves, claiming that we are not egoists, we are free and things like that. Since the ego encloses us within the general “pot,” it is natural that it is the slave master here.

To be continued….
