Anti-Semitism Has Provoked Emigration From The EU

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from Jewish News One)With anti-Semitism once again on the rise in Europe, from Hungary to Holland to France, the Jewish National Fund conference sought to examine the reason for its re-emergence, and how to deal with the problem through co-operation and communication.

Anti-Semitism, which is prejudice, hatred or discrimination against Jews because of their Jewish heritage, has experienced a long history of expression since the days of ancient civilizations, with most of it having originated in the Christian and pre-Christian civilizations of Europe.

Joël Rubinfeld, Co-chairman of the European Jewish Parliament and President of the Belgian League against anti-Semitism:

“‘There is a challenge, the challenge is: is there a future for Jews in Europe? And the situation with the rise of anti-Semitism in western and eastern Europe is very concerning, and the Fundamental Rights agency published a survey last year, showing that 29% of European Jews are thinking about emigrating from Europe, because of not feeling safe any more, as Jews living here. So and this figure rise to 40% in Belgium and close to 50% in Hungary or France. So it’s very concerning and we need to take all necessary measures and actually politicians need to take all the necessary measure to restore trust among European Jews.’

Many Jews in Europe say anti-Semitism is increasing – citizens in Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia and the United Kingdom have expressed concerns about their own safety and that of family members. The JNF conference sought to address the issue by stressing the importance of advocating for Israel and KKL-JNF in the EU.”

My Comment: Anti-Semitism is a natural phenomenon because Jews are the carriers of a special spiritual gene the “point in the heart.” Its presence explains the uniqueness of this nation, its history and talent. But its uniqueness lies in the destiny: in our time, when the world has exhausted the possibilities of its egoistic development and seeks the direction and method of its further development, the Jews must reveal their basis “love thy neighbor” and the method of achieving it—the wisdom of Kabbalah.

They must learn and apply it to themselves, and by this reveal an example of the future to the world and bring Light to the nations of the world. It is by aspiring to this destiny that we will discover that only this action will cancel the hatred of the nations of the world towards us. Otherwise, they subconsciously feel and blame us for their troubles.

Redemption Under Cover Of Darkness

Dr. Michael LaitmanDeparture from exile happens in complete darkness. Towards the redemption, the darkness becomes greater and greater so that there won’t be any grasping by the great egoistic desires that are discovered while passing through the 49 gates of Tuma’a, where the cruelty of the desire to receive, the ego, increases more and more.

Along with this, it is necessary to close the sources of bestowal, the Light, more and more, until we reach a point in which the power of Tuma’a will not be left with any possibility of grasping Kedusha (Holiness).

It cannot be that Keudsha will shine at all for those in the 49 gates of Tuma’a. They find themselves in the worst state that can be, and precisely within this state, from this critical point, there is a birth, which is called redemption.

All of the darkness that is felt by them is derived from the work of Israel who yearn for bestowal and are ready to bestow, even though they receive nothing in return. But they feel these things as beneficial to them; when the streams of Light are closed and sealed and conditions become more and more difficult, then those who are attracted to the goal accept this as help.

Due to all of the limitations and pressures, they have the opportunity of reaching more bestowal, more Hafetz Hesed. I have nothing, and I don’t need it! This helps me. For the limitation that comes from Above places me in Hafetz Hesed. And then I don’t want anything other than to be directed towards bestowal.

It follows that those 49 gates of Tuma’a stabilize me for bestowal. What would happen if this hadn’t happened and I had received more Light, revelation, understanding, as I require now? I would not be able to become Hafetz Hesed. With this great Light, with understanding and awareness, I would not want to leave Egypt. It would be very difficult to do this, if at all. I simply don’t have such power.

So I advance specifically under the forces of pressure, in the dark. The increasing darkness becomes a sign that I can be further stabilized and then direct myself towards bestowal.

If There Are No Requests, There Are No Changes

Laitman_049_01Our work must concentrate on prayer to make our request as correct and precise as possible, in the maximal way that we are prepared to get from our condition. At every moment we need to try to locate the right request according to its direction, intensity and character. This is the most important thing.

If we examine ourselves, we will see that we are not asking the Creator. And even if we ask, we are asking for ourselves, regretting our personal condition. And this is certainly the manifestation of the greatest ego.

Ordinary people in this world who are not involved with studying Kabbalah are in better condition than we are. After all, they don’t demand that the Creator should change, improve, or correct what He did to them, disagreeing with Him. They simply accept everything as it is, since they are separated from the Creator. At least they don’t come to Him with demands and claims, asking where is their deserved reward. A demand like this is completely opposite to the right prayer.

It is possible to arrange such a change in us so that we will ask correctly only by working in a group. A person by himself cannot hold himself in this process. If he is alone, he will fall into his ego again; he will begin to attribute everything to and demand for himself. He doesn’t have the means to format himself and arrange his appeal to the Creator correctly. This is possible only through common prayer.

It’s worthwhile for us to see all of these concepts very clearly. If we don’t get any changes on the way, this is a sign that we are not asking for them. All spiritual advancement is realized only through the prior discovery of a deficiency, a request.

The Components Of A Correct Prayer

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion:  What should the group do in order to achieve turning towards the Creator correctly?

Answer:  The group must influence each one of its members and provide all the required conditions for revealing the MAN (prayer) in each and every one. This means it’s necessary to clarify:

  • What is the Creator?  Who is the Creator?
  • Exactly how do I turn to Him; with which request? This means that there must be a prayer of many, for the many.
  • How exactly should one ask within a very narrow range? If I want to turn to the Creator, I need to do this in an extremely narrow gap according to the form of the request.

First, I need to prepare myself for turning to someone with very high qualities. My fear is not a beastly fear regarding Him but from reverence of His spiritual elevation.

My prayer must pass through the group, for which I ask like a father would for his beloved children. Due to this, I become similar to the Creator, bringing myself to His characteristics through equivalence of form and attaining adhesion with Him.

He is the bestower, and I also want to bestow. We have a shared field in which we work for our bestowal. My investment in bestowal is the deficiency, a request to Him to bestow to others. And He is happy to bestow to them through my request, for my request opens the possibility of bestowal for Him. The whole world is in trouble, with problems, in crisis; so we can see what a vast field of work we have.

Give Contentment To The Creator With Every Word Of The Zohar

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Book of Zohar, Parshat “BeShlach,” section 134: The order of the emergence of the Lights in the three Nekudot of Holam, Shuruk, Hirik. That in the beginning Malchut rises to Bina, under her Hochmah, and then her Bina and TuM fall below her level to ZA.

And she is left with only two Sefirot, KH, and with two Lights, Ruach Nefesh. And it is considered that Bina is pierced, so that nothing is left in her but Ohr Nekeva, which illuminates from below to above. And so her Sefirot are called by the name pierced stones. And this is the point of Holam.

With each word that we read, we try not to forget what we want from our connection, we renew our request with every word.

Now we try to go one step forward, not only to seek a connection with every word, but we ask also for the success of the friends, we ask for them.

From the intention and request for connection, we pass to an intention and request for the sake of the friends. And now we have to add an intention here that we want to give contentment to the Creator with each and every word, to create a feeling, a relationship like this, a state, which will surely bring contentment to the Creator. In this way we arrange the Kli in which we give contentment to the Creator.

If the group intends to give contentment to the Creator, and I disappear in it, so the entire group gets the same value as the Creator. Only the group is the Kli, and the Creator is the Light that connects, corrects and fills the Kli. By being included in a group and praying for a connection that will bring contentment to the Creator, we already yearn to give Him joy.

And the main joy for the Creator is when we try to bring this connection to the whole world. For we are ourselves the Kelim designed only to realize and carry out this work, but delighting the Creator is possible only with the Kelim of the whole world. So we go out and try to connect them.

In The Zohar we read about actions that take place on high levels. Why do we think that this will help us? Because there are no other actions other than the act of connection, but on every level this happens in a more subtle, more detailed, more complex, and more intense form. But it is the same ten Sefirot with more and more bold acts of connection.

So no matter where we read, if our intention is right, meaning for correction, for connection, we read all in this way and will open all the channels of Light.

The Formula Of Communicating With Your Child

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: If a child is angry and irritable what flaw in the parents does it indicate? What does the child lack that they should give him? Does he lack their attention?

Answer: Parents should not search for the source of a teenager’s anger. A child has his own inner inquiries but still doesn’t understand what they are exactly yet. He cannot clarify them by himself, yet and he feels bad about not finding a solution for them.

At this age it is natural since his whole life is still ahead of him, the world is confusing and he feels the pressure of his peers and of the environment. On the other hand, he goes through different inner changes. Here there is a need for the right formula of communicating with the teenager.

It is a good idea to make an effort to relieve the pressure of complicated states that children find themselves in by an outing or through sports. If possible, they should be taken away from the city for a couple of months, but the best thing is to engage them in sports, since it is energy, it is development, it is communication.

Question: I remember when I was a teenager. When conflict arose between my parents, I always felt worried about whether they would make up. What should parents do in such cases? Do they have to work together to resolve the rift in the relationship or should they immediately come out with it and try to overcome the crisis together with the children?

Answer: Parents should not try to conceal that some differences exist. They should try to explain everything to the child and solve their problems, but still, they don’t have to tell the kids everything.

After all, there are many problems between adults and a child does not need to know about all of them. He cannot perceive and digest all the conflicts adults have and all the more so if the conflicts are between his parents. We have to protect the child’s psyche. Parents will always have conflicts that it is better for kids not to know about.

Let’s Get Acquainted

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Often, people who live together for a long time actually don’t know each other. In the Integral method there is an exercise called “acquaintanceship,” when spouses begin to get to know each other again: The woman says how she sees her husband, and he says how he sees himself, and so on. When they compare this, they understand that they don’t know each other. Can such an exercise be used with a teenager?

Answer: This is a very practical and beneficial exercise, but it should be used gradually because it is very difficult for a person to exit himself and begin to perceive the world through another, especially the opposite of him. It is even more difficult for a child to engage in this process, because he always sees the parents communicating with each other on a purely domestic basis. Therefore, it is best not to join him in integral interactions when the parents discuss some common problems.

I know this on my own. My parents were doctors: my mother a gynecologist and my father a dentist. They often talked about professional issues. My mother engaged in research in her field and told my father about it, and I overheard.

As a boy, I was interested in the sexual and gynecological problems. Later, I would ask my mother questions on these topics, and she explained everything carefully. Later, this gave me a lot.

In such a way a child is shaped under the influence of those conversations and discussions that take place between the parents. The thing is not only in that he integrates in the professions of the parents, but he also integrates in the technology of communication between them.

Question: How should the parents act if during the discussions on family problems they see that the child eavesdrops on them?

Answer: Let him eavesdrop. Afterward, you can call him and explain what you talked about. By this you teach him about proper mutual cooperation, and later he will build his family in an identical way. We know on ourselves how much the stereotypes that we got from our parents influence on us: by seeing how they communicated between them, discussed all sorts of life situations, argued, and agreed with each other. All this accumulates and becomes a part of us.

You can intentionally wait for the child to return from school and deliberately start a conversation about some topic, discussing it in a nice way without fighting, attempting to find a common solution. Suppose you are talking in the kitchen, and he walks around listening to your conversation. You can even ask his opinion, pulling him casually into the discussion. And then gradually he will begin to express his desire to participate in the family discussions.

Path To The Seventh Millennium

Dr. Michael LaitmanAccording to the Wisdom of Kabbalah, each Sefira divides into ten parts; each one of them in its turn splits into another ten, and so on. We act in Hesed, Gevurah, Tifferet, Netzach, Hod, and Yesod; they symbolize six weekdays. Malchut is  the last Sefira, Saturday (Shabbat).

When the Upper Light descends, it complements us with its properties, i.e., another three highest Sefirot: Keter, Hochma and Bina. When added all together, they comprise ten Sefirot, the complete system.

The Light that comes down finishes the work that is done in the first six Sefirot: Hesed, Gevurah, Tifferet, Netzah, Hod and Yesod, and completes Malchut, thus making the vessel a whole.

The system of correction is that the Upper Light, which is called the Torah, fulfills the entire work of re-assembling the common soul after we fully exert in order to achieve the overall connection, and this is important, as stated in the Torah.

The Torah describes in which particular properties and under what conditions we should connect and what types of egoism emerge in us during this process. All these explanations comprise a huge and capacious “novel.” At the same time, things described in the Torah are very simple.

It is similar to the fact that our reality consists of electrons, protons, and neutrons; however, when they connect, they draw a vast complex picture of our world, which in itself is always the same ten Sefirot.

Therefore, when this principle becomes clear, it is easy to realize how any part of creation should work in the corrected state, what our current corrupt level is, and how we should work with the egoistic inclination in order to unite with others to trigger the Light that corrects.

During six days of gradual and steady work, we begin realizing that only the Light is able to connect us and that the order in which our unity can be reached is extremely rigid: Hesed, Gevurah, Tifferet, Netzach, Hod, Yesod. Naturally, we lack these properties because they can be obtained only by uniting with others.

All I have is my egoism; all you have is your ego. When we get closer together, new qualities emerge at the point of our contact. Altruism and egoism interlace and create a sensation of political, intellectual, and, most importantly, psychological games when we reciprocally explore each other: who and what we are especially when we concentrate not on ourselves as individuals, but on our mutual inclusion.

First, Hesed and Gevurah appear between us; later, when we enter each other further, Tifferet where diverse properties intertwine. Each one begins to reveal itself relative to another: who the other is. I can reveal myself only relative to you and you can do the same only relative to me. The common properties that manifest in us are called Hesed, Gevurah, Tifferet, Netzah, Hod, Yesod. They are a boundary, a borderline between us. The Light that descends glues them together and thus connects us together. Our ego is remains outside.

When the seventh Sefira Malchut collects all six properties together, they stick together, and thus the three upper Sefirot, which are the properties of the Light, descend and a complete spiritual object appears.

This explains why it is said that this world will last for six thousand years and that at the beginning of the seventh millennium the Light will complete its work.

The seventh millennium is the Light that fills the entire soul and begins to raise it to the next levels: the eighth, ninth, and tenth millennia. This is a complete correction because we start working on the level of the three upper Sefirot: Bina, Hochma, and Keter.

But this happens only after the common soul is corrected, when the shattered Adam corrects himself and faces the Creator; when the creation is corrected. At this time, Adam realizes that he aspires to and possesses the power to attain the Creator, and ascends to the three upper Sefirot, which are His properties, and obtains them.

That’s why Adam’s downfall and the shattering were essential for completion of the full correction cycle during the first six thousand years, whereas the seventh millennium represents an ascent to the eighth, ninth and tenth millennia.

It’s most important to finish the entire scheme, then we will enter a totally different, a new dimension. We don’t know what heights follow because it is a state that preceded our creation.
