The Serpent—The Driving Force Of Nature

571.03Question: The whole world thinks that Adam sinned because he fell for the temptation of the serpent.

Answer: He did not sin. What could he possibly do—this piece of animal flesh that could not even become a human?

Comment: It is written that God warned: “But of the Tree of Knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat of it, for on the day that you eat thereof, you shall surely die.” But the serpent came and began to persuade: And the serpent said to the woman, “You will surely not die.” And when Adam tasted the forbidden fruit, God said: ” And He said, “Who told you that you are naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”

My Response: “You shall surely die” is good. It means that your egoism will die in you, and you will reach another level.

The serpent is a necessary egoistic desire that finally begins to awaken in a person. And then he sees that he is opposite of the Creator, and he has where to advance to, what to correct in himself, and what to ascend to.

Today such a snake is necessary for many people in the world. I would say—for everyone! Everyone thinks that everything is fine: “We live just fine. We were born, we live, we die, everything is okay. Just let me calmly stretch out these years and that’s it.” But why does man need these years? What are they for?

The serpent shows you that you live in vain, that you are an animal, that you have the germ of evil in you. It does not allow us to live in peace. The serpent is a strong, powerful driving force of nature, i.e., a huge egoism that starts to awaken us and sets us against each other.

What Helps To Uncover The Slant Serpent?

260.01The Book of Zohar: Concerning the verse, “Let there be light,” it is written in the books of The First that it is the Slant Serpent, who always moves in curves and brings curses to the world because he seduced Eve with the tree of knowledge.

Question: Why is it said that the Slant Serpent moves in curves?

Answer: Otherwise, it would not crawl into Adam and Eve. Through Eve, the serpent must crawl into Adam and thus perform its work so that the world becomes ready for correction. After all, before man was bitten by the snake, he was like an angel walking in the Garden of Eden.

There was nothing wrong with him, everything was fine. He played the lute there, listened to the singing of angels, and everything around was syrupy sweet.

In order to raise a person to the level of the Creator, it is necessary that he discovers serious, great egoism in himself, how much he is really poisoned by it, how much he is opposite to the Creator.

This analysis is done by the serpent. He reveals the egoism that is sitting in a person, but is not seen or felt, and therefore, he cannot correct himself. Thus, at the very beginning of creation, action with the serpent is necessary.

The Combination Of The Properties Of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob

232.06There is love, brotherhood, and truth in the Torah. Abraham loved Isaac; Isaac loved Abraham; and they were embraced. And they both gripped Jacob with love and brotherhood and were giving their spirits in one another (The Book of Zohar).

We are not talking about people, but about the internal properties of a person.

Abraham is the property of giving; Isaac is the property of receiving. Jacob combines these two properties into a third property.

The properties of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are the fundamental properties of everyone’s soul, so they are called forefathers. And the Torah speaks of how to use them correctly.
The friends should be like them and not blemish them, for if love is lacking in them they will blemish their value above, that is, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, which are HGT.

If we try to perform actions of mutual bestowal and love and to correctly connect with each other in our properties in the right, left, and middle lines in everyone’s soul, then we will come to a state when Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will really unite in us in the right combination, and will form a soul that is correctly tuned to the perception of the upper light. Then the upper light will be revealed in us.

Question: How can we harm these great forces?

Answer: Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob are forces that exist in nature. We do not harm them. How can you harm the law of universal gravitation? You can only harm yourself when you use it incorrectly.

Parallel Existence

562.01Zohar for All, Ki Tisa, Item 54: The friends should be like them and not blemish them, for if love is lacking in them they will blemish their value above, that is, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, which are HGT.

Hesed, Gevurah, and Tifferet are three fundamental upper forces that exist in the soul. We have no control over them. We can only use them for ourselves with more or less benefit.

If you correctly apply these forces called the patriarchs, the right, left, and middle lines, then you realize them in your part: Netzach, Hod, and Yesod.

By correctly realizing them, you get a clear construction of the soul in which you reveal the upper light, the upper governance, your upper life, the upper purpose.

In fact, you associate yourself with a completely different level of the universe, not with our corporeal one where you perceive everything through your physical, animal body, but through your soul. Then you remain in this soul.

You live in your body as long as it exists, but by discovering the next degree for yourself, you as if exist in two channels simultaneously: in the corporeal and in the spiritual.

During The Time Of Rashbi

924All the friends in Rashbi’s time had love of soul and love of spirit [Nefesh and Ruach] among them. (“The Friends,” Unlocking The Zohar). Therefore, Rashbi’s students were able to write The Book of Zohar together.

Question: What is love of soul and spirit, love of Nefesh and Ruach?

Answer: This is the soul and the heart so they say. But in principle, these are two small desires.

Our current desires are more selfish. If we comprehend The Book of Zohar today, we will reveal many times more and many times more brightly what Rabbi Shimon and his disciples wrote because we are even greater egoists.

In relation to us, they were not serious egoists. But by working on ourselves, we have reached great heights.

Paint An Unearthly Picture Of The World

276.02Question: It is said in The Book of Zohar: “All the friends who do not love each other cause themselves to stray from the right path.” Moreover, they put a blemish in the Torah, since there is love, brotherhood, and truth in the Torah.” What does “blemish” mean? Why do we cause blemishes?

Answer: Because we enter into an egoistic relationship with each other, and this is called that we reveal blemishes. This is as it should be because blemishes show where we still need to correct ourselves. And we again need the upper light, the Torah, and so on.

All this is not so difficult. You just need to try to objectively understand it. The most unpleasant thing is that a person perceives everything very subjectively: is it better or worse for me, good or bad.

It is necessary to absolutely detach from oneself and draw the whole picture of the world without including myself or our world, nothing, as if I moved to some other galaxy and they tell me about their conditions of existence there completely independent of me and my earthly conditions.

If I begin to relate to the statements of Kabbalists in this way—and they are not even coming from another galaxy but really from another world—then I will be able to more or less plausibly paint this picture for myself.

And then if I clearly perceive it, I will be able to approach it and perhaps begin to interact with it in such a way that I will enter it relatively easily. The main thing is not to inscribe your interests, your egoism, there, as if only my spirit has moved there and now we are engaged in adaptating to a completely different system.

Objective Reality or Common Misconception?

Everything Is Subjective

278.02The Book of Zohar, Ki Tissa, Item 54: All those friends who do not love each other depart the world before their time. All the friends in Rashbi’s time had love of soul and love of spirit among them. This is why in his generation, the secrets of Torah were revealed. Rabbi Shimon would say, “All the friends who do not love each other cause themselves to stray from the right path.” Moreover, they put a blemish in the Torah, since there is love, brotherhood, and truth in the Torah.

Question: Is the Torah an objective reality, a perfect object?

Answer: There is nothing objective. Even the Creator is not objective. Everything manifests itself relative to us.

If I perceive the entire universe from my senses, from my mind and heart, what can be objective here? If I change, it means that everything will change relative to me because the whole picture is subjective in me. The Creator is also in me. The Torah is also in me. Everything is in me. Is there something outside of me? I feel, I perceive, I evaluate.

Look at how people, by changing, change their opinion about the Creator and the Torah, about themselves and the world, about everything.

And what does “permanent world” mean—the one that is outside of us? We do not know it, we do not feel it, and so there is nothing to talk about here. We need to clearly agree that everything is only relative to the observer. Just like in quantum physics, according to Einstein’s theory. So, there is nothing absolute.

The Torah is a method of correction. To the extent that I understand how to correct myself, I have my own Torah.

The Torah consists of four parts—PaRDeS. In accordance with the egoism that I am now correcting, I realize and implement one of its parts.

The Creator has degrees. It is the property of bestowal, the property of connection of the entire universe into one global system to the extent that I perceive it.

The General Image: Man And The Creator

608.02In my spiritual work I am, as it were, in a game with the Creator. He is hidden behind a spiritual screen. I am on one side and He is on the other. My task is to make myself more and more similar to Him.

How? I must constantly be searching for a way to do it. My whole life is in this search, in this game. How can I collect, connect, and combine more and more various properties, thoughts, and desires inside myself so that He appears more and more on my screen. You cannot imagine how exciting and fascinating it is, and to what extent it fills you!

You submit all your egoism to this screen, all your desires corrected above your egoism, all your intentions, all your aspirations, and as a result, you receive the image of the Creator on it, which is also your image, that is, you created it. Eventually, you bring yourself to the image of the Creator, and you get one single image on the screen in which the Creator and you are united together.

This state is the goal of our existence, perfection, eternity. You achieve this state here in this world, in this life.

And when you gradually realize this game in similarity to Him, then you begin to understand why you are put here on Earth in these special circumstances with your work, with your family, with all sorts of internal and external problems, with everything you have.

You understand that all this is a very interesting addition, necessary in order to build similarity to the Creator over it; although, in principle, what kind of connection there can be.

It would seem that you should disconnect from this world and be like an angel with wings. But it turns out that it is not so. In reality, the world begins to manifest itself as absolutely spiritual. You reveal in your children, in your wife, friends, and circumstances, in everything that happens to you, inner spiritual forces.

And this world gets, as it were, drawn in and becomes an integral part of the screen on which you build up the Creator. It turns out that the entire volume of the universe, both the one that you feel now and the one that you attain and develop in spirituality, all this merges into one single whole.

The Ever-Spinning Wheel

528.03Zohar for All,”“Ki Tisa,” Item 54: This is why in his generation, the secrets of Torah were revealed. Rabbi Shimon would say, “All the friends who do not love each other cause themselves to stray from the right path.”

This speaks only about people who are yearning to move forward in order to reach the degree of the Creator. They are already engaged in spiritual methodology, reaching the level of love, mutual support, and mutual adhesion in the group, and then they go through the reverse processes.

Then accordingly, greater egoism is revealed, and again they work on it, and again they rise to the degree of mutual bestowal, connection, and love. Like the mechanism in a watch: tick-tock, tick-tock.

The wheel turns step by step: forward-backward, forward-backward. It seems as if it stops, but in fact, this cessation reveals even greater egoism.

Question: Is the fact that they stray their fault because they do not love each other?

Answer: It is not their fault. They just have to reveal all the enormous egoism in themselves that was created by the Creator. However, it is revealed gradually, according to the 125 levels of our ego that exist in each of us.

A Movement To Attain The Spiritual World

Linked By A Single Goal

933The Book of Zohar, Ki Tisa, Item 54: All those friends who do not love each other depart the world before their time.

Friends are people who want to unite with each other, but in their joint impulse they discover that instead of connection, they have an inexplicable, unfounded hatred for each other.

And this hatred throws them down from the world where they were united. As a result, they die; they pass from that world to a lower level of existence. They lose their spiritual degree.

The loss of a spiritual degree is called “death” at the degree they were on.

Question: Who are those friends?

Answer: We are talking about people who are beginning to wonder about the meaning of life. This question comes from their serious inner need to feel the real source of life, not because they are bitter in this world or want something, but because they are obliged to understand the meaning of life, its highest goal.

The desire to attain the meaning of existence that appears in a person develops the need to find the root of life, its source. When this desire starts to work, one strives somewhere without knowing why and how. The person is drawn somewhere, and thus, one is brought to a Kabbalistic group.

A person begins to learn and adapt to the group. Here he is  told that there is a goal in life: to reach a spiritual degree above our world, above time, movement, place, space, in general, above everything that exists in the material world. The goal is to enter another dimension.

It is possible. But only when a person has, not the quality of reception like in this world, but the quality of bestowal, the opposite of the one we are in now.

We are all egoists, we want to receive for ourselves, absorb all and everything in ourselves.

The next level of the universe, the opposite of us, operates on the system of bestowal, not reception. Therefore, we do not relate to it in any way. It is beyond our senses because they are all based on reception, and the next world is based on the quality of bestowal.

People who are already in the spiritual world with their feelings describe it as a higher, boundless, infinite, perfect world. How do we get into this world hidden from us? To do this, we must unite in a group and, according to a certain method, start to develop the quality of bestowal and love in ourselves, to “Love Thy Friend as Thyself.”
