“But Cling To The Lord Your God”

527.03Prophets, Joshua, 23:8: But cling to the Lord your God, as you have done to this day.

Adhesion (Dvekut) means that with everything that is in your feelings and reasoning, you should cling to the Creator as tightly as possible, like a child clings to its mother. In her, he sees the source of life, security, understanding, everything!

If you are in such a connection with the Creator, when you adhere to Him with all your powers and thoughts, then you do not need anything else. You should have no other motives, desires, nothing! You give everything to Him, and the Creator, as they say, will finish it for you.

Comment: I would really love to live with this confidence.

My Response: Everyone can and should do it, this is offered to everyone.

Therefore, there are no privileges for some over others. Do you want it?—No problem.

Every Stage—From Zero

237The Torah and the book of Prophets constantly repeat what was said, because at each stage you must start a correction, as it were, anew, but on a different level.

The most important thing in attaining spiritual levels is that at all stages you constantly connect the beginning with the end and the end with the beginning.

Comment: You keep saying not to look back.

My Response: But this does not mean that you are looking back. You take the entire past stage and reveal all the phases, the beginning, and the end in it. The next stage also starts from zero, as it were.

Zero is like the embryo of a new state. The more you pass, the more you reveal that initial zero.

Question: That is, at each stage, I am an embryo, right?

Answer: Of course. Otherwise, you will not attain it, you will not understand it.

This is actually a wonderful system! The one who begins to feel it sees what a divine creation it is!

Toward Correction Of The Last Desires

631.5So that you do not come among these nations, that remain with you; nor shall you make mention of the name of their deities, nor exact oaths [by their name] and you shall not serve them, nor bow to them.

But cling to the Lord your God, as you have done to this day. (Prophets, Joshua, 23:7-23:8)

All the desires and intentions that exist in a person need to be analyzed, identified, and corrected because man was originally created opposite to the Creator.

It is written, “So that you do not come among these nations.” This means that there still remain uncorrected desires between the Israelis.

Question: Will other nations still remain within the last generation, which is already being formed?

Answer: Yes. The fact is that we are corrected gradually. What was not done in previous generations, we are correcting today.

Even what was not corrected during the writing of The Book of Zohar and during the times of other generations of sages and great Kabbalists, we must correct in the final form by rising above ourselves and acquiring the quality of bestowal and love.

This is a very difficult job that has fallen to our lot. It will continue until we complete the final correction of the remaining desires. And they are very serious ones and are called the days and wars of the Messiah.

Comment: It would seem that it is difficult in the beginning, and then it should become easier.

My Response: No, it is not so. However, we acquire qualities, powers, knowledge, and the Torah, that is, a system that has already been mastered before us. Today a new generation is already beginning to embrace it.

Spiritual Maturity

632.3Take good heed to yourselves, to love the Lord your God. (Prophets, The Book of Joshua, 23:11)

To love means that you do not want anything but to feel, understand, and act as the Creator wants.

Make all your thoughts, desires, and intentions, all your insides so that you can cling to the Creator. This is the only way you want to grow, and as soon as new desires appear in you, you also form them in order to merge with Him.

And then you will have even greater desires, which you must shape in order to be more and more merged with the Creator. And so you form yourself in the Creator in an ever greater equivalence with Him. Therefore, you become a fetus inside the Creator.

And then you go through all the other stages of intrauterine development, birth, and growth outside of the Creator. In fact, egoistic desires are triggered in you all the time—stages 0, 1, 2, 3, 4—and you cleave them all to the Creator. These are called the stages of your maturity, growth. You have to give yourself completely to this.

Work Is Only In The Soul!

594Question: Why was it impossible to build a Temple during the time of the twelve tribes?

Answer: What does it mean to build? It would have been better if it were not in stone at all! It is all just dust in the eyes. There is something built up and here we are sitting behind the walls of this temple, as if behind the Kremlin Wall, and everything is fine with us.

Why do we need a material symbol? At one time there were a lot of opponents to this. But, as a rule, those who understand the least are stronger in the material world. People need a toy, so here it is. Apart from that, we have nothing. They replaced the spiritual goal with a wall.

Imagine today that you are going out to the people to tell them something, show them, summarize, present them with a goal, but you have it all purely spiritual, based on the quality of bestowal.

But instead, you show them a huge room, a palace, although it was really very small, sacrifices are burned here, Levites pray there, and Cohenim (Priests) do work here. Everything is clear to both young children and adult children. Man is fighting for symbols, braces.

Question: How else can you approach a person’s heart?

Answer: It is precisely by correcting the heart when you begin to determine in the heart what is holy and what is not.

The people will understand this in accordance with how they rise above themselves, by how much they realize that there is nothing on this earth and all this is just a phantom world. Work should be only in the soul, only in the desire to unite! Only the various stages of our connection represent the material part of the spiritual world.

Save The Torah On Your Heart

622.01That Joshua called all of Israel, their elders, and their heads, and their judges, and their officers, and he said to them, “I am old and come along in years.

And you have seen all that the Lord your God has done to all these nations before you; for the Lord your God, it is He that has fought for you.

And you shall be very resolute to keep and do all that is written in the book of the Torah of Moses, so that you do not turn from it right or left.” (Prophets, Joshua, 23:2-23:3; 23:6)

When a person changes the intention to receive to the intention to bestow, then this desire is corrected and is as if recorded in him. This means writing the book of Torah.

That is, he must go through all the elements of the correction of desire with all the Taamim, Nekudot, Tagin, and Otiot (TANTA), so that all the elements are corrected for bestowal. As it is said, every person should write the book of Torah for himself. To write means to reach such a state when the correction already exists within him.

Question: Sometimes it is said, “To write on your heart.” What does this mean?

Answer: Initially a person writes it “on the heart.” Then it should spread all over the person, i.e., to all his desires.

“Do not turn from it right or left” means that in no way we should interpret the Torah with any of our own additions, conclusions or opinions, only in the way Moses conveyed it to the people in a clear style of bestowal.

Serve The Property Of Bestowal

525And they presented themselves before God. And Joshua said to the whole nation, “Thus said the Lord God of Israel, ‘Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the river from earliest time, Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nahor; and they served other gods. Joshua, 24:1;24:2

There are only two possibilities of existence: either in our own egoism, in which we were born and developed, or by crossing the river and entering the land of Israel, i.e., on a completely different level, in a different desire, in a different land.

Therefore it is said that Abraham’s father and Nahor’s father served other gods, that is, not the property of bestowal and love, but ordinary egoism.

The earth is Ratzon (desire). Israel is from the word “Yasher El – straight to the Creator.”

When you intend to reach the level, the property, the desire, of the Creator, you become a completely different person. And here you have to work on yourself.

Question: The Torah is about one person. What does it mean that I once lived and prayed to other gods? What is it in me?

Answer: This means that you were selfish and thought only of yourself. And then you began to get acquainted with the fact that there is another goal in the world, a great big one, accepted it and began adjusting to it and slowly approaching it.

Question: What other gods are we talking about here?

Answer: About all egoistic gods, and there are a great many of them. Everyone worships something of their own, what they want. Desires for money, power, fame and everything else, these are the gods. And for those who want to reach the level of bestowal and love for their neighbor, the Creator is one.

Reclamation Of The Land Of Israel

749.02It is said in the Torah that the people entered the land of Israel. This means that those people who have a true demand for the disclosure of the spiritual world make every effort to change their desire from receiving to bestowal. And to the extent this desire is formed in them, they begin to feel the upper world.

The sons of Israel entered this land with many egoistic desires, but by gradually conquering them, they changed them to bestowal, connection and love. That is what the conquest of the land of Israel is—gradual and very difficult.

They worked on themselves for a prolonged period of time, and to the extent everyone changed and everyone united with each other, the people of Israel emerged as one common mass with one desire, with one intention.

All their desires under the influence of the upper light, which is called the help of the Almighty, gradually transformed from the desire to receive to the desire to bestow. This is what reclamation of the land of Israel consists of.

What To Swear To The Creator On?

509Prophets, Yehoshua, 23:7: Nor shall you make mention of the name of their deities, nor exact oaths [by their name] and you shall not serve them, nor bow to them.

Question: What does it mean not to exact oaths (by their name)?

Answer: Actually, it is prohibited to swear altogether. One must not be sure of anything in advance except for one thing: that only the Creator’s help and His actions from above will correct, determine, and put everything in place.

That is the only thing I am counting on, hoping for, and acting on. Therefore, I must bring all earthly affairs to such a state, that is, make every effort to the very last and, as if, bring it before the Creator for Him to complete it. This is called “The Creator will complete instead of me.”

I can only swear to the Creator that I will do everything in my power. When I make an effort, I must be sure that it is me doing it, but the Creator will complete it. The action depends on us, but its completion depends on the Creator.

Where There Is No Crime Scene

543.02Prophets, Joshua 20:5: And if the avenger of blood pursue him, then they shall not deliver the slayer into his hand, because he smote his neighbor unwittingly, and did not hate him from before.

A neighbor for you is the one with whom you can create a connection. But instead of connecting with him to achieve an even greater common desire, and raising it to the level of appealing to the Creator, you did the opposite. You did not use this desire, you neglected it, killed your part, and the part of the other, that of your friend. By doing this, you seemed to harm the Creator.

Question: But this is done without intent, right?

Answer: There is no such thing without intent. Everything is judged by intention only.

It is said: “I had no hatred for him either yesterday or the third day.” That is, it really was not planned in advance, but in the end egoism still worked.

Question: If the murder is unintentional, then there is no place for revenge. What is revenge?

Answer: In spirituality, it is a correction and not revenge like in our earthly understanding. Everything comes from the Creator. He framed the person in such a state that he made a mistake, and having made this mistake, he got to know himself even more deeply, so that he understands what to do to correct himself.

Question: Does he thank the Creator for this? It is a crime after all.

Answer: In fact, the Torah does not talk about crimes, although it is described with such words. But these are not crimes since everything comes from above. A person should only learn from this, realize that everything comes from the Creator, and make maximum efforts to correct it.

Question: If I understand that everything comes from the Creator and I live this way, then, in principle, I have no one to be offended by and no one to turn to, right?

Answer: You just must study. Therefore, the Torah is called “Torah,” from the word “teaching,” “textbook,” “methodology.” This is a teaching methodology that explains what kind of world we live in, what we should do with ourselves, and how to move on.
