Question: Let us consider the action of unification in both the corporeal and spiritual context. Suppose, on the corporeal level, people do some kind of a common action but at the same time they do not feel any deep connection. And what happens in parallel in the next segment even if they may not feel something?

Answer: The fact is that there is a volume when I include a person, there is a volume inside when he includes me, and there is a common volume between us, a third one! For example: there were two circles and now they overlap forming a common segment between them.

This common segment is a spiritual Kli, a spiritual volume, because each of us has annulled himself in it in relation to the other and feels the other instead of himself or above himself. By suppressing their desires, each one gives the other a place in himself.

This mutual common area is our component, our offspring, our spiritual child. This is called a spiritual vessel! In it, we begin to reveal the upper force, the Creator, because it is in this volume that we are similar to Him.

Question: Sometimes it happens that people play the game of acting as if for the sake of bestowal and they kind of fulfill each other’s wishes. Is it really so?

Answer: I do not know if this is true or not, but it is useful too. Any game in which you take the side of another person—no matter what it is and how you do it—brings life. Like a mother who takes care of a child, and that is why she gives birth and raises him.

Answer: Yes, in principle, everyone has such an opportunity. Yet very few people catch it and notice it. But in every person’s life there is at least one second, if I may say, when he is suddenly stabbed in the heart and reminded that there is spiritual development: “What’s with you and it?”

Answer: In order to reveal the Creator, to feel the Creator, to grasp Him, we need to grasp each other. To the extent that we will see the Creator in everyone. No matter how impossible it may seem to us, how fantastic, and generally repulsive, we need to make sure that every person in the world begins to appear to me as a manifestation of the Creator.

I have to reach a state where I love everyone, I want to be in connection, merge, and unite with everyone. Then I will feel the Creator in this attitude toward them, not in them, but in myself.

Question: That is why you keep saying: “Good connections, search for love.” Is it really searching for the Creator all the time?

Answer: The Creator lives in man. Do you want to reveal the Creator? You have to love someone else, and then you will feel how the Creator awakens in you.

Question: The formula sounds very simple, but it is so complex. It is amazing, of course. But there is no getting away from it?

Answer: There is no need to get away from anything. It is absolute, it is true, it is short, simple in implementation, only difficult.

Question: It is written in Torah that Moses’ father in law gave him the structure of the “ten” to organize the people. He said “But you shall choose out of the entire nation men of substance, God fearers, men of truth, who hate monetary gain, and you shall appoint over them leaders over thousands, leaders over hundreds, leaders over fifties, and leaders over tens.”

Is this only the inner hierarchy of our desires or was the nation was indeed divided this way in the corporeal world?

Answer: Sometimes it used to be this way.

If we desire to become similar to the Creator, come closer to Him in our properties, we have to build ourselves, our society, the state, even the world and all of humanity according to the same principle as  described in Torah, meaning we have to divide all into tens, fifties, hundreds, etc. Everyone!

This is because when we unite this way we can reach the property of mutual bestowal, interconnection, mutual guarantee (Arvut). With the help of this relation among us we will be able to relate the same way to the Creator.

Question: But why exactly is there such a division into ten, fifty, one hundred, one thousand?

Answer: It comes from the same ten Sefirot. If we have the upper one, bestowing, His bestowal spreads down the ten rungs until it reaches the last Sefira Malchut, which receives everything.

The distance of ten rungs from the bestowing state Keter (crown) until the receiving state Malchut (kingdom of receiving) fully reflects the development of the Creator’s desire to bestow into the creation’s desire to receive.

If the creation from its side desires to become similar to the Creator, it has to make a restriction upon itself: not to receive the way the Creator made it, but the opposite, to act in similarity to the Creator, meaning from the bottom up, back from Malchut to Keter realizing itself in the property of bestowal.

In fact the restriction was not for the action itself, but rather for the intention. However, when we restrict the intention, the action simultaneously is restricted as well. After that the action can develop in the opposite way, toward receiving. The main thing is the intention.

Question: But where did fifty, one hundred, and one thousand come from?

Answer: It does not matter. Actions in the fifty, hundred, a thousand etc. fall under the same conditions, the same laws as in the ten.

Question: Is there such a thing as deserved and undeserved reward and punishment?

Answer: It all depends on how we explore it. There can be no such thing on the part of the Creator, the universal absolute control. It only seems that way to us. And if it seems so to us, what should we think?!

From the human perspective, it is necessary to accept that everything that happens does so according to the absolute will, power, authority, and system of the Creator; therefore, there can be no problems or mistakes. We must accept this as the absolute truth, fact, and good.

Question: If I feel that now an upper force is punishing me, can I not say that it is undeserved? Is it for something?

Answer: Even if you don’t know, as it is said, still a person is obliged to bless the Creator for everything bad as for everything good.

Question: Can I fill my desires and inner voids not in the way I am accustomed, by absorbing everything into myself like a black hole, but the other way around?

Answer: Yes. In order to pass over to the spiritual world, we need to exit our world, begin to attract new desires that are uncharacteristic of us, and absorb them in ourselves. All earth dwellers must unite together into one common desire, and then we will rise to the next level.

This is the essence of the biblical commandment “Love your neighbor as yourself.” It was given to us not for the purpose of making life pleasant and safe here on Earth but only to rise higher.

A person needs to see everyone that exists outside of him as his personal integral parts, as his desire, that is, as his “I.”

The inner “I” of everyone who lives on Earth, in principle, represents one single whole. It only seems to us that we are separated from each other, hate each other, and repel each other, and that we are immersed in all sorts of bad qualities like envy, jealousy, pride, and so on.

Actually, this envy, jealousy, and pride should encourage us to connect with each other so that I am the very first in this. And I strive to be the very best in unification with others, to reveal this strength in myself, and to encourage others to do the same.

What can you do if you understand with your mind how important it is to feel the greatness of the Creator, but it does not penetrate into your heart? Imagine that you go into the future world and see that there is only the Creator in it, “none else besides Him,” and that everything is full of His glory. This is the true form of reality that is revealed before us.

We need to feel this form now in our state, in this world, so that this whole world of deception and concealment does not obscure the Creator from us. Try to do it! Try to build through your ten such attitudes to everything that happens in the world as if there is no concealment, but only the revelation of the Creator, “none else besides Him.”

This is what our prayer should be about. There is no other prayer other than for the Creator to be revealed as the only force in the world.

Egoism does not let us escape its slavery and it forces us to think about ourselves all the time and does not allow us to see anything else. All the degrees of the spiritual ladder that we have to climb lie in the fact that in every state we annul our egoism, which conceals the Creator’s actions from us and we instead reveal that He alone does all the actions. It was the Creator himself who arranged such a concealment in order to teach us how to rise above concealment and reveal Him.

After all, through our fight against concealment we acquire Kelim, which we do not have now, for revealing the Creator: restriction on our will to receive, the screen, and reflected light, or in other words, faith above reason, love for one’s neighbor, which leads to love for the Creator. That is, we come to annulment of our egoism above which we establish the force of bestowal.

We give the Creator the place to rule over us and He is fighting this war with our egoism. We just need to make room for the Creator in our hearts.

We all have made quite significant progress toward this state. It does not matter that the blitzkrieg does not work, but this is the demand of our time, which obliges us to pull the entire world after us.

Question: There are a huge number of interesting things in the world. How do you filter them so that some things do not lead you sideways?

Answer: I always look at them through the goal to see how these things fit into it: me, the goal, and how the entire universe is between me and the goal. After all, it is not somewhere else on the side, but only between me and the goal. In order to feel the universe correctly, I need to see what I am observing now and the goal.

Wherever I am, in La Scala or at the Paris Opera, in some museum or at the Greek Meteora (rock monasteries), I enjoy watching everything, taking it in, and for me it all fits into one mosaic between the upper world, our world, and the flow of humanity toward its final purpose.

It is very interesting to me, I have been collecting this mosaic all my life. I do not have anything that would be just a separate fragment—it happened and is gone. I sort of collect my life, I have such a need for a sense of wholeness.

Comment: If we look at the way the media distort events and how they present them…

My Response: Now we are talking about culture, about history, although I am fitting it into my history—culture, science, and history.

From the media comments, I extract what I need. Let’s say there are 20 commentators in front of me. It does not matter to me whether they say correct things or not or whether they lie or not, I do not even look at that.

I check to which comment I can give my methodology, and I take this comment. I am not interested whether it is right or not. Someone said it, and it is good enough. At least I can express something of my own in a remark to this, for example, in a blog.

The main thing is that I took it as a kind of precondition, whether it is right or not does not matter, and I expressed my point of view. This is what is important!

Question: What is reward and punishment from the point of view of the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: From the point of view of the program of creation the yearning of a person to be similar to the Creator is a reward. And in the place where he is unable to mobilize himself for this, he should see punishment.

In other words, if a person is given the opportunity to become similar to the Creator, and he uses it, then the work itself becomes a reward for him. And vice versa.
