21. What is “unique and unified” (Part 1, Inner Observation, 1)
Unique indicates the upper light that shines and rules over all the many degrees, which are different from each other, to the point of inverting them and equalizing them with His unique form. “Unified” indicates the end of that rule, meaning after He had already equalized and returned their form to the state of “unique,” as He is (Baal HaSulam, The Study of the Ten Sefirot).

Our entire path is the attainment of greater and greater unity until we reach complete unity.
And when we merge into one, we reveal within us the “unified.”

This very state is called “unified,” and it includes all the previous forms within itself.

We see the degrees as completely different, even opposed and contradictory to one another, but the One who arranges all of this for us is called the “Unique.” And in relation to Him, all this appears in a completely different way. He has only a single action, yet it seems to us as though entirely different actions are taking place.

We are unable to unite all this together, yet we call Him “Unified” because in passing through all the many and opposite states, we reveal that in all of them acts one single form and one single purpose.

In this lies the whole root of our work. On our part, we discover within ourselves all kinds of actions, qualities, and states, different, alien, and opposite. But we must strive to unite them together, to bring them to unity, to the root.

From the root emanates unity; yet in our sensations, it divides into a very large number of various manifestations and actions in order to show us our separation, our lack of unity.

If we unite all this together and bring it to one root, since within all these forms there exists one thought and one relation, then we will attain this unique and unified root.

All these forms that appear to us as different are testimony to our own flaws and corruptions. And precisely because of this, we must ascribe and bring them to the unique and unified form.

Answer: Yes, although the Creator’s answer is not His final decision regarding us, but, in any case, it fits together into a puzzle where we can express all the previous actions of the Creator in one action regarding Him.

Only in this way can we rise to the next degree.

Question: The desire to receive is a feeling of lack in us. But the Creator has no lack. Is the desire to bestow also a feeling of lack in us?

Answer: The desire to receive the Creator’s light, being connected with Him, is our need (lack) for now. Feeling this leads us to a state when we seek how we should act in order to begin to receive the Creator’s light.

Question: We, as creation, begin to feel some form of manifestation of the light in us. What should we desire at that point: to study the Creator or to join the next state?

Answer: What should we desire? To attain the Creator. For this we came to Kabbalah.

Nothing matters for me except one thing: to attain my root. If I attain it, understand it, somehow connect with it, even if only in some mechanical form or from within myself, then in accordance with this I will draw closer to it.

Then the mutual feeling of one another will constantly reveal the Creator to me as even greater, more unique, all-powerful, and I will want to acquire His desires and forms until I reach the state in which He and I will become similar to each other.

Question: What changes does the Creator want from us now?

Answer: That we recognize His authority over all of creation, over all the worlds, and agree to any changes in ourselves for the sake of revealing Him to ourselves.

Comment: When a person gets into a certain society, he is influenced by that environment. Suppose he got into the society of “Brahma Kumaris” or somewhere else, and began to truly perceive: “Yes, there is God there.” When people come to study Kabbalah, you also present certain information, and this brainwashes a person.

My Response: No! Because Kabbalah is against his egoism, against one’s nature! With it, I do not subordinate a person to myself. I place him against me.

Pay attention, although you respect me and consider me a smart person, you do not agree with me, you are not under me, because I am giving you information that is against you.

You can agree with me only if you annul yourself, if you acknowledge that you are nothing and nobody. This is your inner struggle.

That is why Kabbalah is the only method that does not subjugate a person. It is not a religion, and it is not some other methods.

I only teach and give information, but how to realize it in you, that is your problem, and a very difficult one, because you can resolve it only by fighting with yourself. Therefore, you will never obey me. You will always be against me, and if you will be able to agree with me, it will be only above your reason.

Answer: The fact is that the creation feels the need to strive for the properties of the light. Therefore, it develops this system from within itself and begins to strive for the light from Malchut to Keter.

Question: How is the Partzuf of Adam HaRishon, a part of the upper spiritual worlds studied in The Study of the Ten Sefirot, related to the first man (Adam HaRishon) who revealed the Creator, who was also called Adam?

Answer: Adam, the first one to reveal the Creator, was a man like us. He was born from his father and mother, lived in this world, and one day reached a state where he began to reveal the upper force, the Creator.

Such a desire suddenly awakened in him, and he began to think: “What am I living for, where did I come from, why, and who controls me?” This is like each of us. This is how he revealed the spiritual world.

He was distinguished by the fact that he had a very sensitive soul, which was not as coarse as with a developed egoism like ours. Therefore, it was easier for him to make this revelation himself. It was the very first spiritual gene (Reshimo) to be revealed in this whole system of broken souls, at the beginning of its ascent from the bottom up; this was Adam, the first person to reveal the Creator.

The Partzuf of Adam HaRishon is a spiritual object created from above, by Zeir Anpin (ZA) and Nukva of the world of Atzilut, when the worlds spread from top to bottom. ZA and Nukva raise him to their level, and then even to the level of Aba ve Ima, where he couples (Zivug) his two parts, male and female: Adam and Eve (Hava), thinking he can already be like Aba ve Ima and act in everything for the sake of bestowal.

But when he makes this coupling, he reveals he is not capable of it for the sake of bestowal, and shatters. This is the Partzuf of Adam HaRishon, the common soul, which is studied in the science of Kabbalah.

Its parts fall after shattering, going lower and lower until they reach the very “bottom,” and from there they begin their scrutinies and clarifications. First, there are numerous clarifications on the inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels, which do not have any freewill, and only the light acts, clarifying them and connecting them, not requiring any request from them.

But after these clarifications accumulate and the queue reaches the desires of the next level, the informational gene of the human level from all the broken Reshimot is revealed for the first time. This new Reshimo, revealed for the first time on the human speaking degree, was called “Adam,” and belonged to a man of our world who lived 5,771 years ago.

He was the first person to attain the Creator “from the bottom up,” that is, from our world. He was just like us, only the first one to reveal such a Reshimo.

He did not have a Kabbalistic group or an environment because he was the first. But correction begins with the lightest Reshimo so it was enough to give him a spiritual awakening from above, and then he himself sought revelation and achieved it. The Reshimot that are revealed after him get rougher and rougher.

We celebrate this day, the first revelation of the spiritual world, the Creator, by a man of our world, as the beginning of the New Year, Rosh HaShanah.

And the world was created “five days before that”; that is, Adam has already begun to somehow feel the upper worlds, the Sefirot, the Partzufim inside him, and during this first week, revelation came to him.

Question: God spoiled everything; He created evil, egoism, and we will correct everything and come to altruistic consciousness?

Answer: That is absolutely right. As it is said: “I created evil and gave the instruction for its correction.” The upper force created nothing but evil. And we must correct it.

But this does not mean that we should turn poverty into wealth or illness into health. Correction consists of bringing people to the attainment of the meaning of life, that is, to connection with the Creator. From there, they will receive what will fulfill them, heal them, and elevate them to the highest level.

Question: When studying Kabbalah is it better to agree with you or to resist and find out?

Answer: To resist and find out, of course! That is what I want from my students! This is called a Kabbalah teacher.

Question: And faith above reason, where should I be annulled?

Answer: Faith is above reason, that is your work if you are able to carry it out. But at the same time, you are not destroying knowledge, you are not destroying your egoism. You rise above it. It is like a pillow for you on which you build faith, the quality of bestowal above your egoism. Egoism gives you the possibility to build faith.

If egoism disappears, then the quality of bestowal will disappear, since it is built on the opposite of egoism, which works as a counterforce. Therefore, there is absolutely no subordination here!

I know from my own experience how difficult it was for me with my teacher. The more you move forward, the more you begin to hate him. You always feel insignificance in him, emptiness, you cannot agree with him!

I know all this, and that is why I see right through my students. This does not concern me and in no way dictates my attitude toward them. By no means! Not at all! I understand their hatred toward me, because I am presenting them with a method that is against their nature. How can they love me?!

Question: Then why are they with you nonetheless?

Answer: Because they have nowhere to go. That is it!

Question: The second and the fourth stages of the spreading of the light are stages in action. And the third stage, as it is said in TES (The Study of the Ten Sefirot), is a kind of sample that a person receives from the Creator. What does it mean to receive a sample of bestowal?

Answer: It means to learn from the first stage how it transforms into the second, into the third, into the fourth stages, and in what way from the fourth stage we can connect with all the other stages and abide within them.
