The wisdom of Kabbalah allows us to discover what existed before the creation of our world up to the Big Bang to find out when the worlds were created. It allows us to see from the point we are now all the phases of the future development, “to the end of all the generations.”

The wisdom of Kabbalah tells us what modern physics cannot explain. Paleontologists’ excavations provide us with some information about the previous generations and about the evolutionary phases we have been through. But ordinary science cannot tell us anything about what was created before our world and what is beyond its limits, that is, what is not accessible to our corporeal senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch.

Astrophysics studies the development of the universe starting from the Big Bang and the creation of space where all the galaxies, our solar system, and our planet appeared. We do have some information about this, but before the Big Bang there were not even concepts such as “place” and “time,” and therefore it cannot be perceived by our research. We cannot study what happened before the creation of place and time by ordinary methods.

Kabbalah can help us because it gives us new tools and sense organs and expands our senses and mind. Thus, we can explore a reality that is not perceived by our ordinary sensors.

Question: How can we study something that happened before the Big Bang, before the creation of our universe, if there was nothing then? Isn’t the Big Bang the starting point?

Answer: The Big Bang is the starting point of our corporeal world, which was created by a spark of upper energy that exploded. Astrophysics cannot explain how it happened. How could such great energy be concentrated in one tiny point in which the explosion occurred?

Physics now is nearing the point at which spiritual energy transformed into corporeal energy. From the spiritual world, it was microscopic energy. This spiritual energy went from the world of Ein Sof (Infinity) through five spiritual worlds: Adam Kadmon, Atzilut, Beria, Yetzira, and Assiya.

And on the boundary of the last world, when the world of Assiya weakens to a minimum, as if a tiny drop in the sea, this spiritual spark exploded and turned into corporeal energy from which the entire universe was created.

This is the point of the Big Bang that was the starting point of our world. Everything that preceded it applies only to the spiritual world, that is, the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Whatever we do in our world, we discover that everything is motivated by our internal egoistic forces, and there is no way that we can rise above this.

All development, even though it may seem romantic, moral, and nice, always leads to collapse, to death, to our inventing all kinds of instruments and mechanisms that create situations that inevitably lead to oppression and death.

On one hand, science interests us; we love knowledge. We have a great need to expose the secrets of nature. But on the other hand, we must clearly understand that this aspiration leads us to suffering, which ultimately will bring us to the conclusion that we need ethical education. Then we will begin to discover nature in an absolutely different way as we aspire to find the characteristic of mutual connection in it.

This will be a totally different science, a science that is not like the science of our world that only comes from an egoistic understanding of nature. After all, when we have an altruistic view of the world, we begin to see its mutual relationships and reciprocal support.

We will see absolutely different laws prevail in the world at different levels and will penetrate the deep ties that connect all parts of nature together. We won’t begin by going from separation to some small connection; rather, we will discover a picture of total mutual connection. And this will be the science of our world, called the science of Kabbalah.

On every level: mechanical, physical, zoological, biological, etc., only Kabbalah reveals the single common bond of all of creation and the Creator that exists within this connection. The most real human need is to attain harmony with the entire creation. It will engulf and fulfill us so much that it will become our reward. Nothing can be better than this.

Right now, this is concealed from people, but it will be revealed gradually, and we will see that all forces blend together harmoniously. It is specifically the harmony of mutual acceptance that fulfills the soul.

Question: In his article “The Last Generation,” Baal HaSulam tries to lead a person through the process of thinking about what we are living for, why things are the way they are, and why the whole human system is reaching a dead end.

He says: “I take all that so close to my heart that I cannot restrain myself anymore, and I have reached the decision to discover the way of our predetermined future correction from my perspective and from what I have found in these books. I will go out to people and I will blow the Shofar.”

On the one hand, he appears to us as a dispassionate scientist exploring the nature of things, but on the other hand, he appears as a man full of love for mankind.

Answer: I wouldn’t call a Kabbalist a levelheaded scientist. He does express himself in the dry scientific language of physics that is very similar to the language of programming, but what is concealed under this language? Feelings!

Therefore, although he tells us how the Reshimot (reminiscences) rise in us, how we gradually begin to mutually cooperate with the upper level, and how the force descends from there to the lower level, his heart and his desires are behind all these mechanical actions because he feels all that on himself.

A Kabbalist is not a physicist nor a chemist who looks at a certain instrument he has invented, confirms and records the physical or chemical processes that take place in the still matter, the vegetative (biology) or the animate (zoology). A Kabbalist is not a person who studies what goes on in a living organism like a vet or a doctor, but the intrinsic properties, the internal processes taking place in our desires and our thoughts. He studies the mutual connection, the mutual cooperation, and the mutual influence of the thought on the desire and of the desire on the thought. The heart is the desire and the mind is the thoughts.

What is more, he doesn’t study it in the conventional frameworks of our world where we see certain outcomes and try to influence them. A Kabbalist studies everything on himself! He is his own lab! He is driven by the attainment of the world, “I attain the world through me,” and it isn’t an unproven axiom like scientists in our world use. For a Kabbalist it is a field of discovery, and he immediately begins to understand the world he is observing, he sees it inside himself.

If I read the newspaper or watch a movie on the computer screen, for example, it doesn’t mean that the paper is posted on a newsstand or that the movie is projected in a cinema somewhere. I see it on my own computer and not beyond its boundaries.

Its the same with a Kabbalist. Whatever he feels he feels on himself, so he cannot express his feelings of self-rejection in a dry manner. At the same time he expresses himself in a very dry language. It is because the wisdom of Kabbalah is the only wisdom that compares our feelings with the very rigid and precise laws and responses of nature that invoke the feelings, responses, and the discovery of consciousness in us.

We are part of nature that is made of vectors of different forces that cooperate mutually, including our feelings and our thoughts. But it is impossible to study them on the earthly level because these thoughts and feelings are above us! A Kabbalist, through spiritual methodology, rises to the level where the interaction of these forces and the birth of the desire, feelings, and our thoughts, man’s inner world, take place, and it is from this level that he begins to influence them.

He studies on himself by which mutual cooperation he can invoke his responses, and why certain responses are specifically the way they are—whether they can be identical to the mutual cooperation of others, in what way people differ from one another, and although they are different, what can they aspire for despite the differences. A Kabbalist studies how nature influences us and what it leads us to, why it manages us the way it does, and how we will perceive the influence of nature if we change by ourselves, whether it changes at all or whether it influences us in the same way all the time, and whether we can change and perceive its influence differently.

This means that a Kabbalist enters such a lab where he is his own subject.

Comment: Many scientists have engaged in such studies: doctors, physicist who studied radiation on themselves.

Answer: No. it isn’t the same thing because they studied physical laws of the world of the still, vegetative, and animate nature on themselves, while here we speak about the laws of the upper world. The ultimate goal of such research is very simple: to understand what we exist for. After all, there are many galaxies around us and no one knows what is in them, while I want to discover and to know what I live for, who I was before I came into this world, and who I will be when I leave it; do I have to feel myself as living in a body that is totally connected to it in every possible way or can I somehow detach myself from it? It is going to die soon and I may transcend to another state, etc.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is a wisdom that allows a person to start answering questions about the meaning of his life. Animals don’t ask such questions. Those in whom such thoughts, desires, and yearnings are invoked are called human. Such people already ask human questions and the wisdom of Kabbalah provides the answers to them.

The wisdom of Kabbalah was concealed for two thousand years from the moment of the writing of The Book of Zohar. The people of Israel went into exile after falling from the spiritual height of love of others to unfounded hatred in what is called the destruction of the Beit HaMikdash (Temple).

Thus, the wisdom of Kabbalah was concealed and only traditional Judaism remained, known to everyone until today.

The wisdom of Kabbalah needed to be concealed from then until our time. And in the 20^th century, the giant Kabbalist Rav Yehudah Ashlag came and wrote Kabbalistic books through which we can awaken ourselves to learn, begin to study, to know, to understand, to feel, and to discover the real world we live in. In principle, our world is only a minute sphere within a vast world that we don’t feel. Modern physics explains that there is a reality beyond our world, but it is incapable of finding it.

After all, in order to reveal the spiritual world that manages our lives, we need different instruments that we acquire only through studying the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Rav Yehudah Ashlag wrote books with whose help we can begin to learn and discover what world we are in, what we are living for, and what the purpose of our lives is. He wrote a commentary on The Book of Zohar, thanks to which we can understand this book; he wrote many articles and the six volumes of the Study of the Ten Sefirot, the greatest textbook on the wisdom of Kabbalah that exists as of today.

By studying these source books, we can understand what the meaning of our lives is, what kind of reality we are living in, what kind of a process of development we are in, who manages us, and how we can become free people so that we can attain freedom of choice. The wisdom of Kabbalah makes it possible to rise above death and above this worldly life. All of this is in our hands.

Rabbi Yehudah Ashlag defined the Wisdom of Kabbalah in the article, “The Teaching of the Kabbalah and Its Essence” like this: “What is the wisdom of Kabbalah? As a whole, the wisdom of Kabbalah concerns the revelation of Godliness, arranged on its path in all its aspects—those that have emerged in the worlds and those that are destined to be revealed, and in all the manners that can ever appear in the worlds, to the end of time.”

This means that the wisdom of Kabbalah is a method of discovery. It reveals all of creation and the stages of development from this moment until the end of all generations. We can discover what was in the past and what will happen in the future, moving freely above time in every direction from that point we are in now.

External scientific development caused and continues to cause harm to humanity, poisoning us with medicines, producing food that is harmful to our health, and through the media. Science began to work against people. But it is unclear why there is a ban on studying the wisdom of Kabbalah?

The fact is that after the destruction of the temple, the nation of Israel went into exile in order to integrate with the rest of the nations and “to connect the souls of the gentiles to them.” And the feeling of the exile had to be real. This means that the problem wasn’t the revelation of the wisdom of Kabbalah to the nations of the world, but that it not be revealed to the nation of Israel. It was specifically towards the nation of Israel that there was concealment of the wisdom of Kabbalah.

If Kabbalah had been revealed, then Israel wouldn’t have felt itself in exile. They would have understood that the exile was essential and they had to go through it and to suffer. They wouldn’t have felt helpless. The concealment had to be so great that people forgot everything.

It’s interesting that when the King of Spain issued an order to expel the Jews, they arrived at the palace of the king with the request to leave and offered generous payment for it. But the chief inquisitor, who was a Jew himself, got involved and didn’t allow the King to accept the ransom. Then Queen Isabella, who was present, told the Jews, “Don’t you understand that the hearts of kings are in the hands of the Lord! It is not we who are deporting you, but it comes from above, from the Creator.“

She had to explain it to them because they didn’t understand. This is called “exile,” when such darkness comes that a person loses all spiritual feeling and sinks within total darkness. It is said that Baal Shem Tov would go through such huge descents that he would even not recognize letters.

We had to go through all the stages of exile and separation from spirituality, and thus the Kabbalists concealed the internal Torah and left only the external. The external corporeal tradition have been preserved and passed on from generation to generation. The descent of the generations was only in internality and gradually they reached the state that the inner Torah was almost forgotten by the people of Israel, that is, the descent reached a complete zero. Baal HaSulam writes that in our generation there are Kabbalists. Where do we see them? We are left only with the external tradition, and the attainment of the internality has disappeared. This means that we have reached the end of the generations.

Comment: In an article by Andrei Koroptov, “Meaningful Herpes,” the author shares his point of view about the meaning of life: “It is not as I thought about the meaning of life, that there is some kind of sacred intimacy, which is forbidden to mention in vain. No, it is precisely the opposite: I am absolutely sure that there is no meaning to life.”

Answer: It seems that the author of the article is trying to evade the question about the meaning of life and therefore rejects it. He apparently calls upon us simply to live in security and comfort in a “special state of a proteinaceous material” called “life,” and that’s it. The longer that this protein lives, we exist, and nothing more. This is an absolutely realistic view of our world. But the idea that I disagree with is not only the inner feeling of a person, his need for awareness and attainment of the meaning of life, but also the general concept of material existence itself. For it is precisely in these protein states that the question about the meaning of life appears.

Why is there such a question? We exist with desires that are above the beastly states, and specifically in these more sublime desires, we see our essential existence. This is so much so that a person is ready to be separated from his bestial existence if he is somehow convinced that there is nothing outside of it. So even the meaning of the beastly life is lost for him. Second, without a doubt there is meaning in nature. We cannot deny this since we are part of nature, and even though we are not aware of ourselves and nature at all, still our observations tell us that all of evolution has a strong internal logical basis that drives everything.

Today both physicists and chemists agree with this. And religion has nothing to do with it. I am talking from the point of view of pure science: We cannot deny that there is a plan of development to nature according to which we exist within a particular process. This process gradually brings us to the appearance of questions about the next state. And this is gradually revealed.

So, on one hand, it is possible to say that there is no meaning to life. But then it is necessary to point out this conclusion is based on our current state. It is impossible to say that there is absolutely no meaning in nature, it is just that now it is understood like this by us. What will happen to each one of us in another few minutes or with humanity in another few generations, we don’t know. So I would not claim without any basis that there is no meaning to life. You just need to understand it better.

Question: How do we grow a new Einstein?

Answer: It does not depend on us, and it is unlikely that we need it. Mr. Einstein didn’t do anything good for us; moreover, he helped build the atomic bomb and told us that there are properties in our world that we cannot understand.

It would have been better if he and the rest of the nuclear physicists had done nothing. We would survive well without nuclear power and certainly without the atomic bomb. Therefore, we do not need an Einstein or a generation of spiritual leaders.

I believe that the science of the 20^th century did not benefit mankind, but not to deny its achievements, science did quite a lot. However, in fact, almost all of it has turned against us. Of course, we aren’t working as hard as before. We have washing machines to replace the hard work of washerwomen. Huge companies manufacture semi-finished products, and we are ready to buy food that only needs to be heated up in the microwave.

This is all clear, but what does this give us? What do we do with the remaining time that we have? We fill ourselves with even more worries, and as a result we are depleting the earth of its natural resources.

I don’t see that people have become happier in our century. People used to listen to music, went to the theater, were interested in literature and read thick novels. Today, a person can read only two lines and can’t read more. If the first few minutes of a film doesn’t catch his interest, he turns the television off.

How did it come to this? In what way is a person happier today than he was a century ago? In the fact that now he doesn’t work so hard? But what is it that relieved him from work?

It turns out that the “Einsteins” brought us nothing but harm, although they were good people.

Despite the fact that I love science and strongly welcome it, I cannot say that science mixes with the selfishness of man. Einstein turning out an evil bomb is not good. Therefore, we must correct man first, and then develop science. Otherwise, we will develop it to our own detriment.

I would gladly go back one hundred years and instead of science, introduce compulsory integral education for everyone. Only to the extent that it could help mankind would I allow people to develop science. Then science would benefit humanity. As a result of integral education, a person must come to feel the whole world and that it is one single unit. Then his research would never have resulted in the creation of the bomb. He simply could not do anything harmful to us, the same way as any man who aspires to do what is useful.

My Comment: Man is a desire to receive and to have pleasure. When we play with this desire, leaving him the possibility of filling himself with pride, and in the case of loss, we can change his opinions and views. We only need to direct him towards fulfillment of pride about himself, elevating his self-esteem, and he will move on to this option, and it will no longer make a difference what other facts I have.

My Comment: Baal HaSulam’s pyramid is a pyramid of corporeal desire— food, sex, family— bodily desires, and the needs for wealth, honor, knowledge—social desires—next, above these desires is the desire to attain the meaning of life, the source of life, that appears in a person from Above in the form of a Reshimo, an informational gene of his previous spiritual state. The Reshimo leads a person to a teacher, a Kabbalist, and under his guidance and instruction one discovers the 125 levels of the spiritual attainment, until he reaches the top of the ladder, the state of the complete correction of the ego and the resemblance to the upper force.

Opinion (David Chalmers, Australian Philosopher and Cognitive Scientist): “Consciousness is the most mysterious phenomenon in nature. Why do we have consciousness? The answer is unknown. Physics explains chemistry, chemistry explains biology and psychology. But consciousness is beyond the normal definition of our world.

“Consciousness is fundamental. Physicists accept particular aspects of nature as basic: space, time, and mass. They deduce and derive the basic laws that govern nature. These characteristics and laws are not explained in any other form, and upon them a model of the entire world is built. If it is impossible to explain consciousness by means of the basic existing elements (space, time, and mass), then that must also be included in this list, accepting consciousness as a basic element of nature.

“Consciousness is universal. Every system has consciousness to a particular degree: Not only people, flies, and bacteria, but also the elementary particles. Even a photon has consciousness. Does a photon have understanding or thought; is it tormented by worry about where it is being carried with the speed of light? No, but there are possibilities that photons have some kind of subjective feeling, something that precedes consciousness.

“It could be that the connection of consciousness to physical processes is a connection of consciousness with information. There, where information is being processed, is where consciousness is also found. The integrated processing of information, as with humans, is integrated consciousness. My Comment: The wisdom of Kabbalah maintains that everything is only in the human. And everything that seems to us as outside of the human only seems that way to us, but essentially everything is found within us, and outside of us there are no other creatures. Consciousness is connected with information, which depends only on connections with the Upper Light, the characteristic of bestowal.

Only the Ohr Makif (Surrounding Light) and the Ohr Pnimi (Inner Light), in all the forms that are created (still, vegetative, animate, including humans) maintain consciousness, to the degree of the development of the ego within them and the ascent above it.
