See The Torah In Its True Form

933Question: “Mountain” in Hebrew is “Har” from the word “Hirhurim”—doubt; “Sinai” is from the word “Sina”—hatred. Does the concept of Mount Sinai symbolize the state of a person who is in doubt?

Answer: Doubts and hatred precede the correct understanding of the Torah. Our generation is in this state.

Question: Does a huge hatred manifest in a person before he unites with other people?

Answer: Yes.

Question: But an ordinary person, reading the Torah, imagines Egypt, Mount Sinai, several hundred thousand people standing at its foot, while we are talking about some kind of internal states, hatred, love?

Answer: Yes, we are talking about the contradiction of a person with what surrounds him.

Comment: There is a lot of confusion.

My Response: You cannot do anything. We left this state three thousand years ago and long ago stopped understanding the Torah as it really is. Today we are studying it like children at school, like some kind of fairy tales. And that is why it happens.

In fact, the Torah is a coded instruction for connecting people. With the right unification between them, a higher power manifests itself, which absorbs and surrounds everyone. It becomes clear to everyone where they exist, to what extent, that this is an eternal, perfect existence, and not some unfortunate, base, earthly one.

Let us hope that we will reach the state when the holiday of receiving the Torah really comes and we will see it in it’s true form.

Once it was given to us, and now every generation and every person must decide for himself whether he is receiving it or not on the terms that were set.

Come, Feel, And Achieve

509Comment: In all Kabbalistic sources, two forces are always considered, for example, Haman and Mordecai, Moses and Pharaoh, etc.

My Response: There is nothing else in nature but plus and a minus.

Question: In principle, can we describe this simply in terms of the interaction of two forces?

Answer: No, you cannot describe it as two physical forces. Between them there are many possible actions, conditions that cannot be revealed, and therefore they cannot be described in any other way than allegorically, in the images of our world. You cannot take plus and a minus and say, “This is how they approach each other, this is how they move away…”

Therefore, Kabbalah uses the language of our world to explain all the problems of our correction to people. When a person begins to correct himself, he feels these qualities, but try to ask him: “What do you feel?”—he has nothing to say. It is because he feels the forces and can only explain them in their embodiment in our world. This is the problem.

The main thing is that we go through this, feel this, and achieve this.

Who Is Behind The Image Of The King?

632.1In the story of Purim, there is a character King Ahasuerus, who sometimes interacts with the positive force (Mordechai) and sometimes with the negative force (Aman). And it is not clear who he is with because the Creator, personified by the King, is represented in a double form.

On one hand, the entire creation is egoistic and whoever has more power rules the world. Therefore, we cannot say that the Creator is good and does good. In what way is He good? What good does He do? It would be better if He did not exist, then there would be no evil. This is Ahasuerus.

On the other hand, it is still the Creator, because He secretly, hiding behind the King’s image, pushes all of humanity toward a good goal.

The problem is that the Creator is the absolutely good and benevolent force that exists by itself. It does not need any other kind of force, any other foundation for its existence. And the creatures were created as negative, opposite to the Creator, in order to differ from Him and not to dissolve in Him, because then they would not have any identity.

It follows that it is impossible to create creations other than being different from the Creator. And if the Creator is absolutely good, then the creation must be different to the point of absolute evil.

Behind The Mask Of Concealment

284.05Question: Where did the custom of dressing up in carnival costumes for Purim come from?

Answer: In this world we do not see the truth because everything here is deliberately camouflaged. We do not know where the truth is, where the lie is, or what is happening to us at all. The whole world is a theater. Man always puts on some kind of a mask.

Purim is distinct because when we put on masks, we pretend to be someone else because all of creation is concealed under a mask. We do not see the Creator or each other, we do not understand what is what. And then, everything is revealed.

From concealment we come to revelation.

Question: Is this like a mask on the will to receive? Otherwise, if we were to contact each other purely egoistically, it would be difficult, right?

Answer: That would be impossible. It is precisely because we play in masks and the entire world is wearing masks (that is why the world is called Olam, from the word “Alama,” concealment) that we are getting closer to the revelation, to Purim.

The Final Correction Is The Integration Of All Humanity

115Question: The state of Purim symbolizes final correction. What does it mean?

Answer: First, we need to correct what the Creator has corrupted. He stated bluntly: “I created the evil inclination, and you must bring it to a good end.”

The evil inclination is our egoism, which is in different forms in each element of creation, and we, humanity, people, and, first of all, the people of Israel, must transform it into the opposite form: altruism, the property of bestowal and love, the property of connection, rapprochement, and unification.

Hence, it can be understood that the entire system of creation is moving from absolutely broken and destroyed to the direction of unification. Moreover, this unification takes place under the influence of a higher power, the Creator.

If we maintain the pace set by the Creator for drawing closer and improving our unification, then we feel good and comfortable. We can even increase this pace and run, as they say, in front of the cart.

If we cannot stand it and we lag behind, then the cart drags us along, and we just drag along behind it, a poor, unhappy, disfigured humanity.

Question: When you say Creator, do you mean nature and the entire evolutionary process?

Answer: Of course. These are not old folks tales. Constant integration of all mankind, rapprochement between people, this is what nature requires of us.

Therefore, the holiday of Purim symbolizes the final correction of all that egoism, that fragmentation that was created by the Creator.

Megillat Esther—Revelation Of Concealment

534Question: The story of Purim is told in the Megillat Esther (The Scroll of Esther). What does this name mean?

Answer: “Scroll,” “Megillah” from the word “Gilui” means revelation. Esther means concealment. That is, Megillat Esther is the revelation of concealment.

The fact is that the entire creation is concealed from us: why, for what, and how, what forces act in it. Why do we have to go through the states from one absolutely shattered end to the other end, which is assembled and perfect? What is it for? What forces can we use?

We do not know anything! We do not understand anything! All this is “Hastara,” meaning concealment.

However, gradually we will be able to reveal this. After all, from a certain stage of human development we are given the wisdom of Kabbalah. “Kabbalah” is from the word “receive,” meaning to receive the upper knowledge, the forces of our development, where we can already begin to advance consciously.

The Condition For Receiving The Torah

931.01Question: There is a condition for receiving the Torah. If you do not unite, meaning, if you do not become responsible for one another, then here will be the place of your burial. What is this law?

Answer: Either you receive this knowledge, implement it, cross the barrier between our world and the spiritual world and enter into the perception of the upper world, reach the state of adhesion with the Creator, or you remain here in this world like an animal, practically on an inanimate degree.

Question: Why is it all so rigid?

Answer: Because this is the condition to exist in the upper world where you are above your egoism.

Question: Does it mean that there was a historical fact when a large number of people were able to comply with this rule?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Were there any other such facts in history?

Answer: No. The Torah was only given once.

Jerusalem—The Perfect City

421.01Jerusalem, proclaimed as the capital of Judea by King David and the modern capital of the State of Israel, is a city with rich history. It is revered by all three major world religions and has therefore been a constant site of controversy. Several times it was destroyed and occupied by invaders, and yet it survived and prevailed through centuries.

What is the essence of Jerusalem from the point of view of the science of Kabbalah? Jerusalem is a holy place and of all the other places on earth it is the closest to the spiritual world. And in Jerusalem, there is the Temple Mount on which the Temple stood, a special place where there is a connection between the material and the spiritual world.

And therefore, Jerusalem and the Temple Mount are attractive for all three of the world’s monotheistic religions, and people are eager to get to this place and somehow touch it. Therefore, in the millennia that have passed since the time of King David, there have been many attempts to capture Jerusalem. What hasn’t it experienced in its history? And this is not surprising because it is truly a unique place, the most spiritual place in this entire material world.

Jerusalem (Yerushalayim) means perfect city (Ira Shlemah) and also absolute awe (Ira Shlema). Interestingly, a city already existed on this site before the people of Israel entered the land of Israel, which was then called the land of Canaan. Later, this city was named Jerusalem.

Jerusalem also means the city of peace (Ir Shalom), but nevertheless, this city has never lived in peace and tranquility. It was always the center of disputes, all sorts of problems, and strife. But if we talk about the future, about the state to which this city should lead people, then Jerusalem is meant to become the central capital of the world. This will be felt and understood by everyone, and Jerusalem will receive a special status, which it partially already possesses today.

Even today, Jerusalem is considered the heart of the world, the center of the three main world religions. But for the time being, it is the center of discord and all kinds of problems that are revealed in the world between nations. And therefore, it is not obvious that this city unites people around it. On the contrary, disputes and conflicts constantly flare up there.

However, in the future, when the people of Israel fulfill their mission to lead humanity to peace, tranquility, unity, and love, then love for one’s neighbor as for oneself will spread and unfold throughout the world, and Jerusalem will receive the status of the city of peace.

In the meantime, the opposite is true as long as the people of Israel do not correct themselves. Jerusalem will remain a city of war, religious disputes, and division.

The people of Israel must behave in such a way that the dome of peace descends on this city: love, unity, mutual understanding between all currents and religions. Unfortunately, today it is quite the opposite. And it depends on the people of Israel, on how they fulfill their duty to be the light for all nations, that is, to show everyone what love and unity are. Only in this way will Jerusalem become a perfect city.

The Long Road To Jerusalem

919Kabbalah says that every object down here in this world corresponds to the upper root in the spiritual world. Spiritual Jerusalem is the point of connection between the egoistic desire of a person in need of correction and the desire to bestow of the upper force, the Creator. Therefore, it is called the perfect city, the city of peace.

Just as a person who goes to Jerusalem cannot be considered to be in this city, even if he has already traveled 80% of the way, so a person who wants to achieve correction, revelation of the Creator, a sense of the spiritual world, goes through many different states, until finally he reaches the last state, the state of entering Jerusalem, to a place near the Temple Mount. Then he can say that he is in the heart of Jerusalem.

This shows us that we need to put a lot of effort into our lives to achieve the revelation of the Shechina, the Creator, the upper spiritual force, and only at the last state do we finally come to this. This is symbolized by the road to Jerusalem, which can be very long, thousands of years, many kilometers, but in the end we will come to the goal.

Baal HaSulam disliked modern Jerusalem and called it a place of Klipot, evil forces. But in the future, Jerusalem must become a holy city.

Rabash was also critical of Jerusalem as a place where all the world’s religions, all kinds of currents, riots, and hatred for each other collided. Let us hope that this temporary face of Jerusalem will soon change.

Therefore, the attitude to Jerusalem depends on which city we are talking about: the material Jerusalem or the spiritual one, today’s or the one that should rise in the future.

I was born far from Jerusalem. My grandfather, who was a very religious man, told me a lot about this city with great trepidation. I was only six or seven years old, but I felt how eager he was to get here and connect with this place. Even just talking about it was a huge pleasure for him. But he was born in exile and died in exile, never having seen Jerusalem.

When I was immigrated to Israel and went to Jerusalem for the first time, I entered through the gate to the old city, I felt as if he were accompanying me, and I was realizing my grandfather’s dream. It was very exciting.

Let us hope that Jerusalem will regain its title as the “Perfect City,” and we will reveal the Creator to the creatures in it so that “everyone will know Him from young to old” since “My house will be called the house of prayer for all nations.” I think that time is near.

The Book of Zohar says that Jerusalem is like a heart in a common organism, and therefore the world cannot exist without it, just as it is impossible to live without a heart. Jerusalem is the center of all material and spiritual reality, the foundation of all creation.

I very much hope that we will see how the ten spiritual qualities will be combined with the material desire in this place. When this connection takes place, that is, they reach equivalence at the point of connection, then our world will receive nutrition, nourishment with forces and filling from the upper world. This will affect all religions and beliefs, and all will come to the state of which it is said: “My house will be called the house of prayer for all nations.”

Shavuot – A Day-Long Eternity

293.1The holiday of Shavuot does not require one to keep any special traditions and lasts for only one day, and therefore passes almost unnoticed. But in fact, this is a very important holiday because it is the basis on which humanity received the method of correction, the way to achieve eternal and perfect life for all mankind.

Therefore, Kabbalists greatly honor the holiday of Shavuot, which symbolizes the reception of the upper force, the method of correcting the world, called “Torah.”

The name “Shavuot” is due to the fact that this holiday comes seven weeks (Shavuot) after Passover, that is, the liberation of a person from his egoism, which is called the exodus from Egypt. After leaving Egypt, he goes through correction for 49 days and on the 50th day, reaches a special degree in his corrections, and becomes worthy to receive the Torah, to reveal the upper light that purifies and fills him.

Shavuot is also called the festival of first fruits because it is celebrated at a time when field work ends and you can already enjoy the harvest.

This means that we have achieved the correction of our desires, and after the holiday of Shavuot we can use them to receive the upper light, to reveal the Creator within them for the sake of bestowal. The revelation of the Creator in the desires of creation and the equivalence to Him in quality—all this symbolizes the holiday of Shavuot.

When celebrating Shavuot, the gift of the Torah, it is customary to eat dairy food, because the Torah symbolizes the bestowal of the upper power to humanity. Milk is a symbol of giving one to another, like a mother feeding a baby with milk. There is no more vivid and natural manifestation of bestowal than mother’s milk.

Shavuot symbolizes the Creator’s bestowal to His creations, revealing His feeling, understanding, attitude, and love to us as if through the mother’s milk. In honor of this, we eat only dairy food on this holiday.

Receiving the Torah means that the Creator gives us a method of correction so that we can change from a state that is opposite to the Creator and become like Him in qualities. In this way, we approach the Creator and can receive from Him the inner fulfillment, the upper light, which is a very joyful event, which is called the holiday of the gift of the Torah.

Every person on earth is able to use the Torah to correct himself and achieve love for his neighbor and love for the Creator, to open his spiritual vision and feel himself inside the eternal flow of life along the infinite axis of time.

To do this, we only need to learn from the science of Kabbalah how we can get closer to each other and through this rapprochement form a place for the revelation of the positive force between us, mutual bestowal, love, and unity. And so we will come to the correction of the world, so that it does not look, unfortunately, as it appears to us today.

Every person who wants to achieve a happy, eternal life must use the inner, practical part of the Torah, which is called the science of Kabbalah. With it, he will be able to correct himself so that he can see himself living in a perfect and eternal world and find eternal life for himself. If he uses the Torah correctly, it will raise him to the level of eternity.

I greet you all on the holiday of Shavuot and wish everyone to get at least a little from the science of Kabbalah in order to see that the upper force this way wants to give us its “milk,” a sense of maternal warmth and eternity. We will feel that the Creator cares for us as a loving mother cares for her infant.

I wish everyone success in this!
