Question: Do you think this request of the parents is legitimate?

Answer: This is a problem. On the one hand they are selfish. No one can oblige a couple to have children. I understand them. But in principle, there is no such law that a couple is obliged to give birth to children, and as if, by their parents’ request.

Comment: “Then return the money that was invested in you,” the parents say.

My Response: “Did you want me to get married in order to make you grandchildren?” It turns out that it is so. “I didn’t sign up for this.”

I’m just putting myself in the position of a victim. “I didn’t sign up for this.” But, on the other hand, the parents can also be understood.

I think there is a need for a society that should affect young people—to influence them in a way, so that they eventually have children for themselves. For themselves and for their parents. Especially in India.

Comment: You’ve been to India; you’ve seen it. There are a huge number of children and people, and still they give birth. One and a half billion!

My Response: It depends on the kind of society. If they are rich people with a good marital status, they give birth to two or three children, no more.

Question: So do you think that the parents’ request is egoistic, and their children are egoistic too?

Answer: The parents are not egoists. They really want grandchildren and they can be understood. But the children, of course, are egoists. They don’t want to do anything nice to their parents, they don’t want to burden themselves, and I also understand them in this, to burden themselves with raising children. But it is necessary to somehow come to an agreement after all. The case went to court. So it’s not easy. They need to come up with something.

Question: This is what is happening in the world right now. Many people don’t particularly want to give birth.

Answer: At least one or two children. Without this, a person is not considered a person. If he has no children, and he does not care about procreation, then this is an inferior person. It is considered so.

Question: But this does not apply if health does not allow and so on, right?

Answer: This is understandable.

Question: So a husband and wife who do not have children are not a family?

Answer: Firstly, such a family is not a family. There should definitely be both a boy and a girl in the family. Preferably both. But there are cases when having both doesn’t work out.

It is necessary to help raise the status of having children. We also have a problem with this, both in the state and in people; today people do not want to have children.

The Torah says, “Be fruitful and multiply.” But in fact, why breed, much less multiply?

Question: Why is all this happening right now? Why is there such a sudden desire not to give birth?

Answer: People want to take care of themselves. That’s all. On the other hand, children are also very egoistic. You invest in them for 20 or 30 years, and then they leave. Well, why then did I invest my capital, my labor, my funds, my nerves, and my strength? And where did it all go? It is an unprofitable business.

Question: And what to do in such cases?

Answer: Do nothing. Learn from mistakes. It all depends on the upbringing.

Medium published my new article “Facing a Collective Suicide”

UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said last week that humanity is facing a collective suicide. As The Guardian reported, “Guterres told ministers from 40 countries meeting to discuss the climate crisis on Monday: ‘Half of humanity is in the danger zone, from floods, droughts, extreme storms and wildfires. No nation is immune. Yet we continue to feed our fossil fuel addiction.’ He added: ‘We have a choice. Collective action or collective suicide. It is in our hands.’” Indeed, I would not be surprised if a cataclysmic fate were to find humanity. Our egos do not let us think about anyone else but ourselves. With this attitude of eating and drinking “for tomorrow we will die” (Isaiah 22:13), we are certain to bring death on ourselves.

But before we get there, there is plenty of upheaval on the way. Wildfires raged during the weekend across Europe, North America, and South America; record breaking heat swept the continent from Portugal to the UK; droughts in Africa, heatwaves in India and South Asia, and countless more simultaneous disasters that The Guardian did not mention are barely a prelude to what is coming. We are going to see the Earth turn inside out; people will look for shelters but there will be nowhere to run except into the Earth. Unless we pull together and rise above our egos, this is the certain fate of humanity.

Mr. Guterres also added that he believed that the solution lies in promoting renewable energies. He said, “As shareholders of multilateral development banks, developed countries must demand immediate delivery of the investments and assistance needed to expand renewable energy.” He demanded that banks “change their tired frameworks and policies to take more risk” and invest in renewable energies.

Here, we differ sharply. I have not seen one proof that renewable energy improves the climate. As I see it, the climate change agenda is intended to attract wealth from everyone else, and dole it out to its advocates. Other than transferring money to the champions of climate change, I do not see anything happening. What they are saying is basically, “Give us the money; we’ll know what to do with it.” It is a fixed game, a one lane road, and nothing good will come out of it.

We can switch to electric cars and oust gasoline, turn to solar panels for electricity and ban coal, but these will not reverse the climate change. The UN is a stage for words, but that is all that it is. It is a gathering place for secret agents from around the world, but it is not a place for positive actions that will help the world. So if anyone hangs his or her hopes on the UN or any of its proxies, they should not count on it; it will not do any good.

If we do not want to return to the stone-age, our only hope is to help each other rise above our egos. We cannot restrain ourselves by ourselves, but we can help each other do so.

The ego is the basis of human nature; nothing within us is more powerful. This is why people will prefer to die than to concede defeat. In the process, they will inflict on us a collective suicide.

However, if we manage to turn our anger not at each other, but at our own egos, which incite us against each other, then we stand a chance. We need to paint a clear picture of our future, without any filters, and realize what we are preparing for ourselves and for our children. Perhaps if we look at our future with sober eyes, we will have the determination to rise above, avoid the looming apocalypse, and turn toward a more sane, considerate, and therefore sustainable human society.

Question: It is no secret that all social formations were either replaced, have disappeared or collapsed. How will the new form of the future society preserve itself and develop further?

Answer: I think this will happen on the basis of a complete renunciation of past states with the help of the so-called recognition of evil, when people begin to understand that it is impossible to continue existing as before. They will be on the verge between either disappearing or changing themselves. And then they will experience transformation.

The recognition of evil is a force that preserves and protects itself. The whole of society will recognize evil, learn to understand it, and pass on this understanding to each other.

Question: Can the recognition of evil be learned and passed on?

Answer: Of course. We have just to teach, show, and explain what evil is and to what extent it exists in each object.

When a person begins to feel where evil comes from, then to this extent he begins to hate it. The recognition of evil preserves the society and does not allow it to move back.

Question: What is the energy that pushes a person forward toward his development? After all, what does not move forward goes backward.

Answer: The fact is that a person cannot stay in the same place, he must develop. Society develops, people develop, children are born, everything flows. Therefore, a person and society itself will strive to constantly develop.

But the main thing is the recognition of the evil in egoism and the fact that it is impossible to continue to exist like this. This feeling of impossibility will protect against regression and push forward.

Question: There is a category of people who are ready to help others, the sick and disadvantaged ones for example. But they are mainly driven by the fear that this could happen to them. Does it mean that altruism does not work in this case?

Answer: It does not matter. A person understands that if he does altruistic actions, then he will be fine. This is still a more developed form of egoism.

Question: So it isn’t bad when a person tries to help someone?

Answer: Of course it is not bad. It is better if we offer something to each other—even though everyone is offering something that is more pleasant, more profitable, and safer for him—it is still better than standing with bayonets all the time and bristling against each other. What is good about that?

It is better to come to some kind of mutual agreement even if it is an egoistic one and cooperate rather than pointing bayonets at each other.

If we follow the news today, we see a world about to collapse, as if we were experiencing the worst time ever. Therefore, we are able to believe that our grandparents were right, longing for “the good old days.”

Grim indicators abound–extreme heat waves and raging fires in Europe and the United States, America bleeding between one mass shooting and the next, inflation reaching historic highs to the point that recession seems likely, the unending Russian war in Ukraine continuing to cause shockwaves across the globe.

Britain and Italy face political instability. Sri Lanka sank in front of people’s eyes while its leaders fled the country. The quiet country of Japan saw the assassination of its former prime minister in the daylight.

As shocking as everything looks, nothing has changed that much in the world. The main change has been in the accumulation of information and people’s connections in the world. In past times we set out on walking tours to hear what was going on in the neighboring town and rocked inside a ship for two months to get to know a distant country.

In later periods, we bought a ticket for a high-speed train or took planes to land on a distant continent to know other realities and people. Now without getting up from the chair and with the press of a key we are there, in the heart of the world. In less than a second, the entire colorful, noisy and bustling reality unfolds before us, stunning us with its growing influence.

We hear and see, feel, admire and respond to everything that happens to everyone in every corner in real time. Communication between us requires us to absorb an intensive flow of information which we consume like addicts.

How often does someone read a book and go to a friend to share, “Listen, what a good book I read!” We are in a world that is all news that we are not built to absorb, engagements that we are unable to tolerate. As a consequence, people are getting sicker physically and mentally.

The endless bonds formed between us are cold, flat and alienated. They have no depth, warmth or identification. They lack sympathy and willingness to approach, and do not take into account that we are one. If the world seems full of crises, it is the ties between us that are broken.

The physical bonds between us have become tight and fast, and so it should be, but we need to adjust ourselves internally and emotionally to it. We need to insert warmth within these bonds that will strengthen and connect us instead of breaking us apart. You can turn off the news a bit, open a purposeful book, talk to each other, and feel each other.

Instead of running around with eyes on the monitor and absorbing fragmented pieces of information, we can get a real picture of reality when we look at creation as integral, knowing that it has direction and purpose. All of reality, past or present has a single purpose: to make us perceive that we are one, like nature, and to understand that only through our mutual guarantee and interdependence will we be able to overcome any hardship. When we achieve this perspective, the perception of the world that we see will finally come into a beautiful balance called peace.

Today we live in a world of global interconnections. The war in Ukraine resonates all over the world and in all that we do from buying bread, lighting gas on the stove, or starting the car. This conflict affects everyone personally even if you are physically very far away from it. We are given a real sense of the meaning of global peace and mutual dependence.

In what way do we depend on each other? We can say in everything! Almost every country depends on others in the fields of food and industry. Over the past decade this dependence has already become total. If we haven’t realized it yet, then we will have to experience it in the most practical ways in the coming years.

Therefore, we should seriously think about what we are doing. After all, anyone who ignores his connection with others, even if imperceptible at first glance, seems to be shooting himself in the foot.

We don’t realize yet that we are in a completely closed system. As soon as a chain breaks, it hits the countries that depend on it, then the other countries that depended on them, and then other countries; so this problem spreads until it covers all of humanity around the globe.

But the fact is that we do not want to recognize this mutual dependence. I am willing to recognize dependence on my family and, well, maybe to some extent on my country. But why should I take into account the interests of other states and foreign, sometimes even hostile, peoples?

I don’t want that! But there is no other way. We see that everything is arranged on Earth in such a way as to reveal our mutual dependence to us and our obligation to be connected with one another. After all, no one is able to provide even the most vital essentials for themselves without proper and kind communication with all the peoples of the world, with all countries. It’s a miracle how we suddenly found ourselves in a round, integral world.

In this situation, we learn how dependent we are on each other; no one can consider himself free, since he depends on everyone. One country cuts off supplies, which causes a chain reaction and disruption of supplies in one country after another, and as a result, everyone would die of cold and hunger, without coal, steel, rare metals, oil, gas, medicines—the most vital things. Humanity simply will not be able to exist if it continues in the same spirit.

Mutual dependence has become total and we have to admit it. This is the main characteristic of the modern world and of our generation. If we want to suffer less, we need to talk about it more and clarify it. In this way we will come to peace, to advancement, and to mutual support. All of humanity around the globe will become one community, one people, so it will be impossible to start a war anywhere, with anyone.

We must finally end wars, conflicts, and hostile attitudes, and acknowledge that everyone has an obligation to ensure peace for one another.

Question: In the past when there were no video cameras, everything was just recorded. For example, the recordings you made while listening to Rabash still play their part. And no matter the time, they are still part of the human experience. To what extent did the recordings you made with Rabash play their part?

Answer: In general I made the most of them a long time ago. I have written them many times in books, in various writings posts, and have recounted them in lessons. They have already been everywhere.

In principle there is nothing more to lower from above. There is an infinite amount of sensory and mental information up there, but you cannot bring it down; you have to rise to it. I hope that it will happen this way.

Comment: You have written a lot of materials. Everything that you have given out and still give out, in principle, is also being recorded. It does not matter if it is used or not, but it is recorded.

My Response: It is recorded and gets into the system. I see the consequences of this. What I may say today will pop up somewhere in a few months. And if not in months, then in a few years.

You probably remember how many different interviews I have had with great people, both in America and in Israel, where I tried to convince them that there is a crisis in the world. Two or three years before it happened, I spoke with Nobel laureates in economics and told them a crisis would soon break out. They were surprised: “No crisis. Nothing will happen.” And look what we have now.

Time goes by very quickly. What we are saying today is already entering this network. The network of communication between everyone becomes more alive. Therefore, I think there is great hope that the world will achieve its correction through peaceful means and not by atomic war.

Question: How do you like this idea?

Answer: In principle, of course, controlling a person with pain is a thing as old as the world.

Question: But to create reality, meta reality, as if taking a person away from this pain into another pain? In pain again?

Answer: Naturally. We can’t do without it. Otherwise, we cannot define ourselves —where we are, who I am, and whether I exist at all. If you remove sensations of pain from a person, everything will disappear.

I’m sitting in an armchair right now. The armchair presses on me, I feel pain, pressure. And the pressure feels good to me. But this is, in principle, a small pain.

And if I pass a certain pain threshold, then I begin to feel that it is unpleasant for me. Then I have to move away from this object, from this source.

And so I am controlled everywhere and in everything: from cold and hunger, heat, pressure, everything! That’s how I’ve been led primitively from pain to non-pain in every dimension, in every relationship.

Question: So you think what they are doing is right? Is it necessary to introduce pain even into virtual reality?

Answer: Otherwise it will not be a reality, even virtual.

Question: You are always talking about the passage of a person into the spiritual spheres, into the spiritual world. Is there pain there?

Answer: Yes, of course. If there is a feeling of “plus and minus,” then there is pain and pleasure. The pain of being far from the Creator and the pleasure of being closer to Him. It’s very simple. But, in principle, the parameters are the same.

Question: Can we say that this is the root of all the pains in our world: my remoteness from the Creator or my closeness?

Answer: Yes, of course.

Question: And what we are going through here in this world is our withdrawal from the Creator?

Answer: Yes, it teaches us how we can approach Him.

Question: And all these crazy wars, are they all from the same sphere?

Answer: Yes, of course. Inevitably. This is the only way to teach a person.

Question: How can we make all this turn into different pain in our world?

Answer: In our world, we can do it very simply. Each of us has to put ourselves in a very clear direction. If I get closer to others, and through them to the Creator, then I have to imagine it as pleasure. If I move away from the connection with others and thus from the Creator, I feel pain. That’s the state I need to come to. This will be called the revelation of the spiritual relationship.

Question: In principle, is this a way of revealing the Creator, which means the gradual disappearance of wars, suffering, tragedies, so to say, from me, from this world?

Answer: I don’t even think about it. I think about how I can get closer to others and through them to the Creator, so that it will be my pleasure.

Question: Then reveal the secret, please, how to get pleasure from connection with others?

Answer: Ask the Creator, there is nothing else. There is no other action that will help you.

Question: There is only prayer in this world so that I can get closer to others and so get closer to the Creator. Maybe there is another way?

Answer: No, you can’t. It won’t do much here. You’ll be turning as if you’re in a frying pan but not going anywhere.

Comment: Supervised drug injection sites have opened in New York City. Here drug addicts can legally inject drugs and seek help from a doctor.

Basically, their model is that if you are still going to use drugs, let us teach you how to do it safely. This is what the organizers say.

We are talking about intravenous administration of serious drugs. People do not have to hide, they will not be arrested. You can take a shower, wash your clothes. And everything is free. How do you like this solution of not banning, not putting in jail, and not catching them?

My Response: Prohibitions have no effect. All sorts of punishments have no effect. Only love.

Question: Does it mean that by allowing them to do all this, we can slowly explain something to them, talk about something?

Answer: They will even quit these drugs for you, from the fact that you provide them with these conditions. They will feel your attitude toward them. This removes half, even more, of the reasons to have an injection.

Question: Can it be that this is how we can solve the world drug problem?

Answer: No, you cannot solve it that easily. For this we need to rebuild society. But as society becomes more and more gentle, understanding, and accepting all people correctly, all negative problems will be disappearing.

Love is a powerful thing, you just need to awaken it correctly. And the body will give us a reaction. Not immediately, but if there are large groups of people with this common approach, then you will see what happens. People will fight with their hands and teeth for such a government that treats them in this way—with love.

Question: How can we grow such a government that will treat people with love?

Answer: This is only through Kabbalah. So that a person will understand nature, study it on himself, how impossible and difficult this is, how much he can influence himself through others. This is a process.

Question: Do you think that the path to the love that you radiate for the other is only through the wisdom of Kabbalah? Why is Kabbalah engaged in radiating love?

Answer: Because Kabbalah itself is the science of love, the science of the Creator, of His influence, attitude to creation, to a person. So far it is being studied by small groups here and there, the masses still do not understand anything. But when this enters into the mass, into the stream, it will blast everything with love! The way a mudslide descends from the mountains.

It will be an enormous force. There is nothing higher, bigger, or stronger than such love.

Answer: This is an enormous task. This is the only thing we lack in our life. Everyone needs to work on this. The most important task is for people to start approaching each other with a smile, with love. It is very difficult.
