What We Spend Our Lives On

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from Pro100News): “If a person is 70 years old and he sleeps 8 hours a day, then he has slept for 22 years. We spend 15 percent of our lives at work – 12 years. A resident of a city spends from 5 to 8 years on the road. Everyday cooking takes 7 years of life; single people spend 2 years less.

“We spend 4 years eating cooked food. A housewife spends 9 years of her life doing housework, a working woman – 4 years. 4 years are spent watching TV, 2 years are spent talking on the phone, 4 years shopping, etc. Life is short, and we should not waste it on silly things!”

My Comment: The main thing is not what we are doing physically, but what occupies our thoughts. It is possible and necessary to do all this, but the question is: “Why do you live the given 70 years of your life?” If you are engaged in reaching the meaning of life, i.e., rising to the next degree of human development, ascending to the upper world, then you do not live in vain… although externally you do the same things as others. The main thing is your intentions in every, the most ordinary action!

The Structure Of Chaos

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Max Schupbach, PhD, co-founder of the first Process Work Center in Switzerland, and Process Work training programs worldwide): “What at the moment seems as chaos has a clear structure. The events that seem strange, in fact, make a difference, and they are the driving force of change. That what is marginalized today hides future organizations and the future of community.

“There is hidden meaning behind frictions, problems. If we had revealed all the details: measurable and immeasurable, rational and irrational, logical and emotional – we would have discovered unique solutions that were originally inherent in the situation and how it is possible to become creative, reaching the goal.

“A leader is not who knows everything, but who can establish sincere relationships, resolve conflicts. His main skill is an understanding of the processes that take place, love for changes, working with himself.

“A master is not a status, but the path, on which those methods that you study will become your way of life. You should realize that you will study throughout lifetime. A master understands that his destiny, his path on this planet has a definite direction, and his task is to go through it and make this path useful to others.

“In an attempt to achieve this, you will be constantly stumbling, learning new things. But over time, you will learn to accept both success and failure as positive. You will cease to enjoy when you complete a task as intended or to become upset if something does not happen because you will understand that both success and defeat are just parts of something larger.”

My Comment: It’s nice to see how psychological conclusions approach Kabbalistic ones.

“Marx Was Right: Five Surprising Ways Karl Marx Predicted 2014”

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from RollingStone): “There’s a lot of talk of Karl Marx in the air these days … But few people actually understand Marx’s trenchant critique of capitalism. Most people are vaguely aware of the radical economist’s prediction that capitalism would inevitably be replaced by communism, but they often misunderstand why he believed this to be true. …

“Here are five facts of life in 2014 that Marx’s analysis of capitalism correctly predicted more than a century ago:

1. The Great Recession (Capitalism’s Chaotic Nature)

The inherently chaotic, crisis-prone nature of capitalism was a key part of Marx’s writings. He argued that the relentless drive for profits would lead companies to mechanize their workplaces, producing more and more goods while squeezing workers’ wages until they could no longer purchase the products they created. Sure enough, modern historical events from the Great Depression to the dot-com bubble can be traced back to what Marx termed ‘fictitious capital’ – financial instruments like stocks and credit-default swaps. We produce and produce until there is simply no one left to purchase our goods, no new markets, no new debts. The cycle is still playing out before our eyes: Broadly speaking, it’s what made the housing market crash in 2008. Decades of deepening inequality reduced incomes, which led more and more Americans to take on debt. When there were no subprime borrows left to scheme, the whole façade fell apart, just as Marx knew it would.

2. The iPhone 5S (Imaginary Appetites). Marx warned that capitalism’s tendency to concentrate high value on essentially arbitrary products would, over time, lead to what he called ‘a contriving and ever-calculating subservience to inhuman, sophisticated, unnatural and imaginary appetites.’ It’s a harsh but accurate way of describing contemporary America, where we enjoy incredible luxury and yet are driven by a constant need for more and more stuff to buy… While Chinese families fall sick with cancer from our e-waste, megacorporations are creating entire advertising campaigns around the idea that we should destroy perfectly good products for no reason.

3. The IMF (The Globalization of Capitalism). Marx’s ideas about overproduction led him to predict what is now called globalization – the spread of capitalism across the planet in search of new markets. ‘The need of a constantly expanding market for its products chases the bourgeoisie over the entire surface of the globe,’ he wrote. ‘It must nestle everywhere, settle everywhere, establish connections everywhere.’ While this may seem like an obvious point now, Marx wrote those words in 1848, when globalization was over a century away. And he wasn’t just right about what ended up happening in the late 20th century – he was right about why it happened: The relentless search for new markets and cheap labor, as well as the incessant demand for more natural resources, are beasts that demand constant feeding.

4. Walmart (Monopoly). The classical theory of economics assumed that competition was natural and therefore self-sustaining. Marx, however, argued that market power would actually be centralized in large monopoly firms as businesses increasingly preyed upon each other… Politicians give lip service to what minimal small-business lobby remains and prosecute the most violent of antitrust abuses – but for the most part, we know big business is here to stay.

5. Low Wages, Big Profits (The Reserve Army of Industrial Labor). Marx believed that wages would be held down by a ‘reserve army of labor,’ which he explained simply using classical economic techniques: Capitalists wish to pay as little as possible for labor, and this is easiest to do when there are too many workers floating around. Thus, after a recession, using a Marxist analysis, we would predict that high unemployment would keep wages stagnant as profits soared, because workers are too scared of unemployment to quit their terrible, exploitative jobs.

In Conclusion: Marx was wrong about many things. Most of his writing focuses on a critique of capitalism rather than a proposal of what to replace it with. But his work still shapes our world in a positive way as well. When he argued for a progressive income tax in the Communist Manifesto, no country had one. Now, there is scarcely a country without a progressive income tax, and it’s one small way that the U.S. tries to fight income inequality. Marx’s moral critique of capitalism and his keen insights into its inner workings and historical context are still worth paying attention to. As Robert L. Heilbroner writes, ‘We turn to Marx, therefore, not because he is infallible, but because he is inescapable.’”

My Comment: Baal HaSulam’s opinion is that, tracing the mechanism of natural development, Marx noted only the results of the positive and negative forces, i.e., creation and destruction that are produced in society.

Accordingly, he planned his tactics and did not pay attention to the causal factors that lead to such consequences. It’s like a doctor who does not pay attention to the root of the disease and treats the patient based just on its external manifestations (modern medicine operates on the same principle).

Friendly Fascism

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Leonid Savin, Chief Editor of the magazine and portal Geopolitics): “Many political analysts talk about the threat of fascism in the world. This is a new totalitarian ideology, but with softer methods of influence on their own citizens of people of foreign countries.

“Modern society has come to a state when little depends on the will of ordinary voters; they have become cogs in the machine of technocratic suppression of their viewing and listening. This friendly fascism operates more subtly than the usual one.

“It justifies suppression by the need to protect human rights and civil liberties, while destroying traditional values of society (the legalization of gay marriage and distortions). There are seven categories in the new form of fascism.

  1. “The type of power structure. At the confluence of big capital and the state apparatus, there is a new ideology of the art of governing and duping people – of managing political processes in the form of the society of the spectacle, where attractive imposed images hide real meanings.
  2. The method of suppressing opposition is through covert subversion.
  3. The method of destruction of the unwanted is inciting ethnic conflicts, by seeking “external threats,” by organizing riots.
  4. The methods of persuasion are the media, information warfare, which purpose is to subordinate the consciousness of the elite and paralyze the masses.
  5. The methods of encouraging “good” behavior are measured awards in the form of ranks.
  6. The distractions are the media, comfort, sex, psychoactive substances, religious sects, alcoholism, drug addiction, gambling, sports, scenes of extreme violence.
  7. The type of survivability of the system is inner vitality.

“The new fascism is fascism with a smile – pretty to look at and to hear. The project of “Eastern Partnership,” which became the cause of the current political crisis in Ukraine is also one of such tools, initiated by Washington, but promoted by the EU under the guise of common values and using the “soft power” of Brussels.

My Comment: In any case, the current type of manipulation of the population will result in failure for its managers. The dissemination of the method of integral education will help accelerate the realization of what is happening and the smooth transition to a new integral community.

Science Confirms Kabbalah

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Sergey V. Kovalyov, PhD, psychologist, Head of the Institute of Innovative Psychotechnologies and Centre for Practical Psychotherapy): “We can survive only if we radically change our outlook. Certain hubs of force should develop within us, the mental force that will set a different picture of the world: optimistic, joyful, unselfish, moral, and spiritual. …

“When Harvard researchers conducted a study about why we have such a low life expectancy, they were surprised to discover that we are dying not because we drink and smoke. It turned out that we are dying of boredom and lack of meaning in life.”

My Comment: Thus, scientists’ opinions gradually approach the opinion of Kabbalah. Yet we should not wait for when they open their eyes themselves, but we need to implement the method of integral education and work with scientists as well.

Innovative Project “The Future Of Humanity”

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from GlobalScience.ru): Humanity is a living mechanism. Its regulation is based on the principle of output signals, meaning on the results of human activity. The regulator role belongs to criminal law. But criminal law is belated regulation; the work has already been done, a mistake has been made, an offense has been committed.

The essence of the innovative project “The Future of Humanity” is to change the model of the mechanism. The regulator is integral morality. This regulation is based not on the result, the output, but on the principle of social input. In this case, errors and crimes are eliminated.

My Comment: It’s all correct, but we will not manage without integral education for the general population in order to achieve integral morality.

Euromaidan: America Vs. Europe – To Wreak Havoc In The State

The Ukraine today is a link, a bridge between Europe and Russia. But the US does not like the unification between Europe and Russia, and it does everything so that it does not happen …

Excerpts from Open TV journalist Anton Baranov ‘s interview with Dr. Michael Laitman, head of the International Kabbalah Academy:

The Ukrainian process will not stop, and it is very similar to the “Arab Spring.” We are talking about a managed, prearranged process that fits into the overall trend of human egoistic development.

In general, there are two forces: one is aimed at unification, and another at division. The first force includes the attempts to create a common zone of Europe, Russia, and China as well as Japan. But in some ways it is contrary to the wishes and aspirations of the US government. It is against that. In the worst-case scenario, this confrontation could lead to global wars.

The current trends will yield nothing good. In any country is doesn’t lead to any good. Ordinary citizens are slaves. And the force that controls them leads them, first of all, to chaos. The same thing was arranged in the Middle East.

Nothing happens by itself. The US acts against Europe. After all, Europe has united to oppose the US, though not to full independence, but to a certain self-determination.

Today, there is a need for the unification of Europe through the Ukraine with Russia. Thus, the Ukraine has become a hot spot; there will be no unification without it. Composed of two parts, the pro-Western and pro-Russian, it may become the “bridge.”

– The Americans are very afraid of this. Because then a unified geopolitical space will emerge; it also includes the Arab countries, and the US will lose the whole world. Therefore, it is most important not to let the Ukraine become a link between Europe and Russia.

If the forces that govern the process have raised the people, the Ukraine will aim at separation. It is no coincidence that today large historical contradictions, which have not been corrected and lay dormant inside until the “abscess” did not burst, are exposed …

As a result, we must realize that egoism is our main enemy. Because of if, we cannot come to any agreements; we cannot get rid of crises. Egoism is our nature, and it “destroys” us.

Today, the world does not find connection points, though seemingly it has learned from the bitter experience of the wars of the last century. The “Golden Age” is over, and there is no solution. Everyone knows that one has to be integral, like nature, that salvation is only in unity, in addressing problems together, but in fact even Europe is incapable of this, despite the fact that it seemingly created a common space.

We must rise above our egoistic nature, and in fact we have the appropriate tools. Only then we will we be able to solve global, integral problems in the proper, integral manner, in mutual connection. Anyway, our future is in this.

Well, today our opposition to the unified force of nature is manifested in the decline of the family, in various conflicts. The problem is that we let our egoism rule us.

And therein lies the historical necessity – we have to recognize the evil of egoism. Only then will we come to the conclusion that we have to change ourselves, that the problem is in the human being, in each of us, in all seven billion, and not in anything else.

Therefore, only rising above the challenges of our common trouble, a declaration of war against egoism as the worst enemy, will allow us to unite and create a completely new world.

The correct method of finding the future shape of the state, of the people, of the world, is a mutual discussion, without old grievances and complaints, without returning to the past. Any militants will be powerless against this general ascent to an understanding. Indeed, real unity gives us the strength that lies above the level of usual egoism.

This is the way we operated in Israel in 2011, when the Americans tried to initiate a similar process here, involving the masses.

The good anti-egoistic army that frees people resorts not to arms, but to roundtables at which all the parties without exception sit and solve problems according to the anti-egoistic method.

We are totally interconnected in a single world. No matter how many times we “play” in political strategies and other games, our connection only grows, showing greater interdependence of people, nations, countries, as well as our dependence on the environment.

In fact, we are in a closed sphere, which affects us all around through the principle of unity. However, our egoism is opposed to this; on the contrary, it divides us, literally tears us apart. Thus, today the antagonism between nature and our nature is manifested.

That is why nature leads us to integration by harsh methods. The whole history of the 20th century proves this.

Today, whether we like it or not, it is already impossible to play protectionism. A good connection is not a nice slogan, but an urgent necessity, stemming from all the studies, the facts. The world is integral; we are not. So, we need to change.

The Angry America

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from abovetopsecret): “There is a growing discontent in the nation. And it’s getting worse. The shootings, the bombings, they are not independent random events. They are a symptom of a much larger epidemic that is at play.

“We are a nation where many of our citizens are overworked, exhausted, financially strapped, alienated, and disconnected. We clock in day in and day out, and very often are left feeling unappreciated and uninspired. Of course we would be upset, agitated, and angry.

“Some are describing this as ‘America’s anger epidemic.’ And there are a few reasons: uncertainty in the job market and the economy, working long hours — on average about one month more now than they did in the 1970s and with less vacation.

“A recent study from the USA Today found 60 percent of Americans report feeling angry or irritable. That is up from 50 percent when a similar poll was taken in 2011.”

My Comment: They are not aware of the need to change the human being (in fact, there is nothing else to change) in the evil, stupid way or good, smart way.

“The Unruled World”

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Stewart Patrick, Senior Fellow and Director of the International Institutions and Global Governance Program at the Council on Foreign Relations): “The demand for international cooperation has not diminished. In fact, it is greater than ever, thanks to deepening economic interdependence, worsening environmental degradation, proliferating transnational threats, and accelerating technological change. …

“Global governance” is a slippery term. It refers not to world government (which nobody expects or wants anymore) but to something more practical: the collective effort by sovereign states, international organizations, and other nonstate actors to address common challenges and seize opportunities that transcend national frontiers.

“Cooperation under such anarchy is certainly possible. National governments often work together to establish common standards of behavior in spheres such as trade or security, embedding norms and rules in international institutions charged with providing global goods or mitigating global bads. But most cooperative multilateral bodies, even those binding under international law, lack real power to enforce compliance with collective decisions. What passes for governance is thus an ungainly patchwork of formal and informal institutions.

“Alongside long-standing universal membership bodies, there are various regional institutions, multilateral alliances and security groups, standing consultative mechanisms, self-selecting clubs, ad hoc coalitions, issue-specific arrangements, transnational professional networks, technical standard-setting bodies, global action networks, and more. States are still the dominant actors, but nonstate actors increasingly help shape the global agenda, define new rules, and monitor compliance with international obligations.

“The clutter is unsightly and unwieldy, but it has some advantages, as well. No single multilateral body could handle all the world’s complex transnational problems, let alone do so effectively or nimbly. And the plurality of institutions and forums is not always dysfunctional, because it can offer states the chance to act relatively deftly and flexibly in responding to new challenges. But regardless of what one thinks of the current global disorder, it is clearly here to stay, and so the challenge is to make it work as well as possible.”

My Comment: There is no doubt that the world will come to the conclusion that a single global government is the only solution to the world’s problems. The international community can be managed only if the masses have the same education and understanding of the closed integral world. Thus the need for integral education in countering chaos arises even now.

Earth Is Being Plunged Into Darkness

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from YouTube): “Global warming takes our planet into darkness, American scientists believe. The scientists analyzed satellite images that showed how the Earth was changing over time. Having compared the data, the scientists discovered a frightening trend. With every year, the globe loses the ability to reflect light.

“The melting of ice in the Arctic reveals dark surface – water and soil. The dark surface reflects light a lot worse, but the heat absorption is larger.

“There is another unpleasant moment. Arctic air is incapable of transmitting surface heat to the upper atmosphere. This is what differs the Arctic from tropical areas, where air masses are distributed more evenly.”

My Comment: None of our efforts will lead to bringing the climate to equilibrium and cannot establish comfortable conditions for humankind. Only the inclusion of humanity itself in the general integral system of nature will lead the entire system to equilibrium. Otherwise, nature “will beat us until we become smarter.”
