Russians Do Not Want To Be Independent

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from the Higher School of Economics, Moscow): “Analysis showed that the average Russian, in comparison with people of other countries, demonstrates more pronounced values of safety and self-affirmation and less pronounced values of openness, innovation, creativity, freedom and independence, risk, fun and pleasure.

“The worse are the values of caring about people and nature. Russians are not able to combine care and equality, care and openness. Concern for others, openness and independence occupies last place.

“Russians tend to be conservative, dreaming of power and wealth; the rules of life are unimportant for them. They are not ready for socio-positive conformism and independent activity. The most common type of Russians are those who have not expressed a certain value; they prefer the value of preservation.

“The values of openness, independence and caring for others in Russia are 1%.

“Russians are leaders in adherence to the egoistic, individualistic values, which contradict the stereotype that Russians have a strong sense of collectivism. Paternalism is expressed in high-value of security and low value of independence. The values show high stability and do not change much over the years. Commitment to the values does not mean adherence to them in practice.

“Thirty percent show a tendency to punish the generous! If in other countries 20% of people punish more greedy ones, in Russia 15% punish the more generous. The reason is competitiveness, the desire to win, beat, be first. Society in Russia tends to consume, but it is not development, but an adaptation method that does not require efforts.”

My Comment: The study is relevant only at this stage of the “development” of civilization, and the crisis will further “equalize” everyone. Now the winner is the one who will base the correction of society on the method of Integral Education and the wisdom of connection.

“Neuroscientists Confirm That Our Loved Ones Become Ourselves”

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from Psychology Today): “A new study has confirmed that humankind’s capacity for love and friendship sets us apart from all other species. Researchers at University of Virginia have found that humans are hardwired to empathize with those close to them at a neural level.

“Interestingly, the ability to put yourselves in another person’s shoes depends drastically on whether the person is a stranger or someone you know. … Humans have evolved to have our self-identity become woven into a neural tapestry with our loved ones.”

My Comment: We are actually connected by much closer ties, so much that our thoughts, feelings, actions, all of us and in everything, we are one body—and only our egoism falsely shows us division into parts.

On The Approach To The Second Enlightenment

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Yuri M. Kagramanov, publicist, culturologist): “Is there a means to prevent the decline of European civilization? Since the beginning of the 21st century, at Western academic crossroads, there were talks about the need for the Second Enlightenment, which would give a new impetus to European civilization – just as the classical Enlightenment did.

“The cultural elite falls into the mass like in the quagmire, and humanity not only became mature, about what the intellectuals of the Enlightenment were dreaming, but fell back into childhood: it is interested only in the body, comfort, well-being, the power of material things … the infantile humanity of the 21st century demonstrates the flaws inherent in children: gullibility, immorality, cowardice, ignorance, propensity for violence, the spirit of a herd.

“The confidence of Enlightenment that the human being is able to take the world’s fate in his hands is completely lost. We need not ideology but worldview – it is a much broader concept, and it has been always determined by geniuses.”

My Comment: There will be no Second Enlightenment as the masters of academic Europe envision. Egoism bloomed only once and gave its fruit, and today we are reaping it! The Second Enlightenment should be altruistic, and it will be given to the world not by egoists but by those who have mastered the way out of it, that is, Kabbalists. The Second Enlightenment is called “Integral Education of the World” or the “wisdom of connection.”

“Independence Day”: ARI Institute’s Article Featured In Aliya Magazine

ARI Insitute‘s article on Israeli Independence Day was published by Aliya Magazine. Below is the article.

“As another Israeli Day of Independence has been celebrated, the all too familiar chants (not to say rants) about Israel’s need to be strong and self-reliant fill the media. Perhaps the chanters know something most of us do not; otherwise, how can you explain their insistence that independence is possible? This is true for all countries, not just for Israel; independence is a myth; interdependence is the reality of our lives.

Today, a country that wishes to be independent must focus its attention on the society rather than on the economy. The only way a country can be independent is if the people within it feel solidarity and mutual responsibility toward each other. And here lies our strength as the Jewish nation. We are the unproud proprietors of the motto, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

It is a shame we take no pride in it. If we recognized its value, we would embrace it as our social code and our troubles would end. It may sound like a simplistic, perhaps naïve statement, but it works. Today’s reality is one of connectedness and mutual dependence, yet we fail to accept it as a way of life, and instead try to step over one another on our way to the top of the heap. But even once we get there, if we ever do, it only lasts a minute before someone else becomes the short-lived king of the hill.

No other creature behaves this way but us, humans. And no other nation is as zealous about this game as us Jews, and especially the Jews in Israel. And since Israel is always at the center of attention, much to our dismay, we should at least embrace the opportunity to steer things in a positive direction. As proprietors of the abovementioned motto, it is our prerogative to employ it.

We may be a fractured and disjointed society, but these are mere facades to our common origin. In the eyes of the world, we are Jews regardless of attire and demeanor. Let us show that we can therefore rise above the superficial, and display unity above all differences, without eliminating them. We can, and perhaps should, remain who we are—religious, secular, or completely non-denominated. But above all that disparity, we should embrace the motto of unity. If we only dare, we will achieve not only independence, but will eliminate the anti from anti-Semitism and from anti-Israelism.”

Less And Less Freedom

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from Freedom House): “The 2014 World Press Freedom Index spotlights the negative impact of conflicts on freedom of information and its protagonists. The ranking of some countries has also been affected by a tendency to interpret national security needs in an overly broad and abusive manner to the detriment of the right to inform and be informed. This trend constitutes a growing threat worldwide and is even endangering freedom of information in countries regarded as democracies. … This year’s index covers 180 countries, one more than last year.

“Russia (148th) might have been lower in the index had it not been for the stubbornness and resistance shown by its civil society. But the authorities keep on intensifying the crackdown begun when Vladimir Putin returned to the Kremlin in 2012 and are exporting their model throughout the former Soviet Union. From Ukraine (127th, unchanged) and Azerbaijan (160th, -3) to Central Asia, Russia’s repressive legislation and communications surveillance methods are happily copied.”

My Comment: The media has compromised itself with its openness to bribery, so that no one believes in what it conveys. Everyone knows who is behind (pays for) each edition, channel, etc. Therefore, there is no freedom of speech, as there is no truth in what they want to convey. What is sold and conveyed is what is beneficial for their buyers.

In addition, the level of education and erudition of the majority of journalists is far from the level required for the presentation of current information. As a result, no one will suffer from greater restrictions of such media.

The Ukrainian Crisis Will Produce Tectonic Shifts

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Sergei A. Karaganov, Dean of the School of World Economics and International Affairs at Russia’s National Research University Higher School of Economics): “It is quite obvious that the economic consequences of the current crisis will be much more profound than they now seem – even for Europeans. But what is happening now, it’s not just the collapse of the geopolitical system but much deeper.

“Disabling Visa services, banking instruments, is actually an undermining of the whole economic system that was created by the West, but enjoyed by the whole world, which is now economically greater than the West. Apparently, we’ll have huge tectonic shifts for decades.”

My Comment: The collapse of this system occurs at all levels, otherwise it can not be replaced by the next system. And the next system is integral, fully interconnected, and completely opposite to the existing system. Thus, the collapse of the existing system is gradual, but global.

We will be able to replace the old egoistic system with the new altruistic system only by re-educating humanity. Kabbalah is revealed in our time just for this operation.

A Nation Needing Wisdom

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: How would a nation that lives according to the laws of mutual guarantee look?

Answer: The future form of humanity will be such that we will stop creating more products than we need in order to exist.

The form of existence will be determined by the spiritual values becoming more important than material ones. If a person is wholeheartedly involved in spiritual advancement, he doesn’t need much for his physical existence: only a normal standard level so as not to limit himself.

He needs to exercise a little, to get nourishment, sleep, and have a family; everything necessary should be available to him. It could be that he needs some special clothing to go out to people and carry out his work, but personally he won’t need this. He could give everything up, but because the physical body exists, he has to provide for himself.

And everything beyond what is required will be felt by him as a burden, as pressure. Humanity will gradually come closer to such form of existence. Soon we will reach a situation where we will still produce a great number of needless products, but gradually we will stop buying them.

And people will buy less not because they will have less money, meaning not because of external causes, but because of internal causes; they simply won’t have the desire. The attitude to this will suddenly change, we will lose interest: “Well, I will buy and what will this give me?”

The desire will lessen and disappear completely. One desire will replace another. A spiritual desire has to become revealed in humanity, and although we we are a long way from this, the spiritual desire is already gradually beginning to neutralize the material one.

People buy less and less. We will see in the coming years how people will become more and more indifferent to material acquisition. Not because someone limits them, but simply because they will not feel a need for this.

The Dismantling Of Capitalism

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Andrey Fursov, historian, Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences): “The current crisis is a purposeful dismantling of capitalism, which is carried out by the Western elite to maintain control over the world. Over the past decades, all the supporting structures of capitalism: political democracy, civil society, the nation-state, rational knowledge and the middle class are being destroyed.

“Democracy has turned into show business; society is becoming atomized; the nation-state is collapsing under the pressure of transnational corporations and crime syndicates; universities are transformed into vocational schools that teach not to answer the question why, but how; the middle class is thinning out, turning into the same source for the accumulation of capital, which until now the peasantry and the proletariat used to be.

“The analogue of what is happening should be sought in the 19th century, when having exhausted itself, feudalism was receding in the past. The feudal elite managed to take control of this process and retain power. Nowadays, we are witnessing an attempt to carry out the same transition project. This project is being developed in a closed network structures that have been created by the Western elite still in the pre-industrial era and which today are the main subject of history.”

My Comment: History does not repeat itself! Because we have to ascend to its next level, to get out of the egoistic nature, and gradually enter and master the altruistic nature. Moreover, it is not altruism built on egoism, which we sometimes witness, but absolute altruism, which we have never observed, i.e., complete bestowal for the sake of the other.

Nature will begin to “invert” in us, replacing one property with the other. If we cooperate with it, if we will perceive these changes with our participation, we will enjoy them. But if we remain in our egoistic properties, we will nonetheless change, but under the harsh driving force.

The Disastrous Trajectory Of Civilization

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (David Dubrovsky, Ph.D., Chief scientist at the Cognition Theory Department of the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Institute of Philosophy, co-chairman of the Russian Academy of Science Scientific Council for the Methodology of Artificial Intelligence): “The constant worsening of the ecological crisis and other global problems shows that our consumer society is approaching a dead end. Many people are talking and writing about this. But no decisive actions can be seen.

“In order to change the perilous trajectory of the development of the world’s civilization, we must change mainstream consciousness.

“The concept of human nature expresses a complex of stable qualities of the social individual, which are reproduced in all eras and among all peoples, which shows that they are conditioned by our biological nature.

“The main issue is how to change the negative qualities of human nature: unbridled consumerism, aggression towards one’s fellow human beings, excessive egotistical strivings. The source of our global problems reside in these things.

“We do not have a definite answer. There are probably only two possible options:

  • We must either change man’s biological nature by reconstructing the genome, to change the human psyche and vital functions;
  • or take the path of transferring the mind and personality of an individual to a non-biological cybernetic system, i.e., by anthropo-technological transformations, which is the path of evolutionary transhumanism.”

My Comment: The scientist thinks correctly in his own right. After all, a human cannot change his nature himself; this is possible only by attracting the same force that created him. But this power is not found in our genome. We can reprogram human actions not for oneself but for others, to consider others rather than oneself in all occasions. But it would be a robot (angel). Now, we are these robots (angels) acting in everything only for ourselves.

But the goal of our development is to bring us to a state where we become the masters of the two forces, bestowal and reception, and using them for the benefit of society, we become like the Creator. This change can be made only by attracting to ourselves the concealed (non-existent in us) the force of the Upper Light, the properties of complete bestowal. This is the essence of the wisdom of Kabbalah, its method.

The Slow Death Of The Old Global Order

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Robert W. Merry, political editor of The National Interest and author of books on American history and foreign policy): “In the spring of 2012, The National Interest produced a special issue under the rubric of ‘The Crisis of the Old Order: The Crumbling Status Quo at Home and Abroad.’ The thesis was that the old era of relative global stability, forged through the crucibles of the Great Depression and World War II, was coming unglued. In introducing the broad topic to readers, TNI editors wrote, ‘Only through a historical perspective can we fully understand the profound developments of our time and glean, perhaps only dimly, where they are taking us. One thing is clear: they are taking us into a new era. The only question is how much disruption, chaos and bloodshed will attend the transition from the Old Order to whatever emerges to replace it.’

“What’s most troubling about all this is that today’s national leaders seem utterly lacking in any serious consciousness of just how dangerous the global situation is. … Pfaff [William Pfaff, the longtime geopolitical analyst for the International Herald Tribune] notes with a small measure of relief that the world isn’t beset these days by ideological dictatorships on the march or any new waves of totalitarianism. Today’s problems, he says, are merely ‘confusion, incompetence, and intellectual and moral disorder.’ He adds: ‘But these are bad enough, in an over-armed world.’

“For historical perspective, it’s worth noting that we look back now with a certain disdain upon the heads of state grappling with events leading to World War I. Those events ended a century of relative stability and peace in Europe, and the men who let that grand epoch pass are seen in history as hapless, out of touch, even stupid. In fact, they weren’t stupid, but they were out of touch and that rendered them hapless in the face of events they didn’t understand.

“President Obama and those around him aren’t stupid either, but they don’t seem to understand the nature of our time and the challenges posed by a fading era. They seem incapable of grappling with the kinds of broad historical questions posed by William Pfaff.

“But the problem doesn’t reside only with the current administration. There seems to be a zeitgeist in play that retards the ability of our leaders and intellectuals to grasp the transformative nature of our time and hence the havoc besetting the globe. …

“Seriousness is what the times call for. We are living through a crisis of the old order, and it demands new thinking, new cautions, new understandings of the profound challenges of this pregnant historical interregnum.”

My Comment: The problem is that everyone writes correctly about the modern state of confusion because they feel and understand it, but no one talks about the opportunities to exit it because no one has the knowledge, method, or vision of how to do that.

Only after the leaders become aware of their complete lack of understanding and inability to orient themselves in a given situation will they be able to enter integral re-education. It will expand their perception of reality and they will see the causes of what is happening and will then be able to participate in decision making.
