Question: Why was The Book of Zohar needed? After all, there is the Torah, the first part of which is written by Moses. It is considered fundamental.

Answer: What is in the Torah? We do not understand anything about it. And if you open The Zohar, it says that it is a Kabbalistic commentary on the Torah.

What does a Kabbalistic commentary mean? Moses wrote a really fundamental book, but it is encrypted. There is a single but very deep code in it. It is written in the so-called language of branches.

Kabbalah explains what it is and helps us understand what exactly is implied in the book of Moses. After all, the Torah is perceived by everyone as a purely artistic creation that tells about the history of some ancient tribe. It is written in a narrative language.

And Kabbalah teaches us to see the upper roots through this—the forces that cause corresponding actions in our world, to rise to the level of these forces, to understand the system that governs our world, and to be included in this system so that we can actively manage our world through it and correct ourselves and the whole world.

The New Zohar, “Song of Songs,” Item 483: To know and to observe the secret of the soul. What is the soul within him? Where does it come from and why does it come into this body, which is a foul drop that is here today and in the grave tomorrow? To know the world one is in, and for what the world will be corrected, to gaze upon the sublime secrets of the Upper World, and to know one’s Master. And one observes all that from within the secrets of the Torah.

A person must know absolutely the entire universe from beginning to end in all its metamorphoses, consequences, causes, and currents of all actions. I must understand how this system works, and most importantly, what I can do.

If I can do nothing, what difference does it make to me whether I understand The Book of Zohar more or less, whether I am at the mercy of fate and destiny. Yet, if I can change something, then how can I do that? This is very important.

Question: It is written “To know and to observe the secret of the soul. What is the soul within him? Where does it come from?” What does it mean “Where does it come from?”

Answer: If I understand how the system of the universe was created, then I will know why and for what reason, what the means is for my correction, my influence on it, and the correct inclusion into this system. In fact, I need to know everything.

Only complete knowledge of both the general and the particular, both the analysis and the synthesis of this within me, will lead me to correct, rational actions because I am included in the eternal system.

In our world, we will somehow survive for as many years as we are supposed to, and then we will depart. And this is the entrance to the eternal system. Moreover, you become included in enormous forces, in the influence on yourself and on others.

Only to the extent that you understand the spiritual system, only to the extent the inclination toward the right actions exist in you and you do not make mistakes, you gain access to this system and can do something in it.

Question: It is said that Abraham began to gather people around him and teach them about unity. Tens of thousands of people followed him. And, what does a person begin to collect within himself? Does he look for some support or some desires?

Answer: A person must gather all of his desires, thoughts, and impulses inside, and direct them to the Creator, that is, to one power, one goal, and one property—the property of bestowal. He does not work inside of himself, but outside of himself.

Question: If he sees, behind all the objects and phenomena of our world, not one force, but different ones, then does this mean that he serves different gods?

Answer: Yes. Each one of us, in this world, strives for some private, little goal and tries to achieve it. Such human work in our world is egoistic, petty, and empty.

The idea of Kabbalah is to change one’s egocentric perception of the world when I see all the forces separately into a holistic perception.

Question: To the extent that the people of Israel strive for connection, they will inevitably serve as an example to the people of the world and will force them to strive for it too. If everyone strives to unite involuntarily, then why is it necessary at all?

Answer: Involuntarily because we are originally created as egoists.

We, as a proper sensor, should consist of two opposite parts. And then between these opposite qualities we will begin to capture some phenomenon. For example, there must be a contrast between darkness and light, according to which we can feel something.

So is our egoism. If it is properly attuned for us feeling the opposite altruistic quality to it, then between them we can determine where we are.

Therefore, we just need to develop altruistic qualities in ourselves and, in accordance with our egoism, use both qualities in order to correctly navigate the spiritual space.

Question: How does intercultural ideology help the personal spiritual development of each individual?

Answer: It helps us to rise above all differences. I held classes with students in Los Angeles and wondered how they communicate with each other. One of them is black, the other one is yellow, the third one is white, this one is wrapped in a Muslim headscarf, and that one walks with the Star of David. They answered my questions by saying, “You know, we do not notice this.”

Today, this may no longer be the case. But, in those years, they said, “We have become so accustomed to each other and we communicate so closely with each other that all those external attributes do not bother us.”

Comment: One of the advantages of that kind of society is that emigrants are a source of knowledge and a qualified labor force. They bring new tastes, styles, music, culture, as well as the opportunity to learn different languages and religions.

But all of these cultural and scientific interests within different nations disappear as soon as conflict arises. What interferes with them? It seems that there has been an upbringing in which billions are invested and, nevertheless, we can see what is happening now, for example, in America.

My Response: This upbringing is wrong. Nothing will help. The mistake is that they have not been taught how to get close to each other in the right way. Everyone is given freedom in all respects, and they believe that they have found the right way to get closer to each other this way. This is wrong.

Nature only has one way of getting closer, which is for a person to rise above his nature and prefer to be in connection with his neighbor, above his egoism. This should be taught. This should be introduced gradually.

Without changing human nature, it is impossible to solve anything. We are approaching this eventuality today. We must understand human nature, otherwise we will not survive.

Question: Can a Kabbalist raise himself above both the sensation of suffering and the sensation of pleasure?

Answer: Yes, this is the middle line, when he doesn’t depend on either one. We need to yearn for that.

Question: And what happens: am I enjoying or am I suffering?

Answer: For me, both pleasure and suffering are means for attaining adhesion with the Creator.

Question: I do not exist, there is only the Creator. On the other hand, do I exist only when I am different from Him or when I merge with Him? So, do I exist or not?

Answer: We exist. There is no doubt about that.

But in what way can we connect with the Creator? To do this, we must create a special organ of sensations in us that will be able to feel something outside of us. The Creator is outside of us, we do not feel Him now.

That is why I have to understand how to exit myself, that is, exit the egoistic quality in which I am now into the opposite, altruistic quality, which I develop inside me. If I possess those two qualities, I will be able to feel the Creator in me and become similar to Him without vanishing anywhere or disappearing. That is, I am an integral and eternal element of creation, we do not disappear anywhere.
