My Future Depends On My Friend

laitman_934Rabash, “Concerning the Importance of Friends”: It follows that in the matter of love of friends, they help each other, meaning it is enough for everyone to regard his friend as being of the same degree as his own. But because everyone should learn from his friends, there is the issue of Rav and disciple. For this reason, he should consider the friend as greater than himself.

Question: On one hand, a friend is like a teacher to me; I am small compared to him. On the other hand, I seem to be his teacher. How do these degrees alternate?

Answer: They work simultaneously, like a mother with a baby. On one hand, the child is most important to her, and on the other, she takes care of him all the time and he seems to be in her power. It follows that he commands her, and she, taking care of him, as if commands him.

If my future depends on a friend, then he is the most important to me. If everything that I can do in spirituality is only possible through him, then it means I am obliged not to receive from him, but to give to him. Our interaction must be absolutely open and complete. Then we come to a third state, when the two open relationships with each other become a single one.

Question: It turns out that we become equal?

Answer: We are so equivalent in regard to our goal that our “we” disappears, and a common field appears, a common life, a common space in which the Creator is revealed.

Question: Where is faith above reason here?

Answer: Faith above reason appears only when the Light comes down and gives us strength and we begin to feel the need to bestow. This need to isolate from oneself, to bestow, to radiate is the realization of faith above reason.

laitman_282.02Question: Why does the good higher force need a system of negative forces in order to govern?

Answer: It is in order to give a person the freedom of choice.

Question: Is it possible to say that every act of plunder, theft, violence, and murder have their origin in the system of negative forces?

Answer: The fact is that as long as we are in egoism, the system of positive forces will seem negative to us. Therefore, it is problematic to talk about the meaning of good and evil in our corrupt state.

Question: When I hear that someone creates my living conditions, it seems to me like there is some kind of screenwriter who has a personal relationship with me and is leading me toward him. Is this the right way to perceive the higher system?

Answer: Right. But the “screenwriter” sometimes attracts you with His left hand, sometimes with His right hand, and sometimes trips you up. He is leading you in such a way that you will understand the way and will begin to participate in it on your own.

Question: In which world does the division of the system into good and evil begin?

Answer: It begins from the world of Atzilut. The world of Atzilut is a world of goodness. The evil is found in the worlds of Beria, Yetzira and Assiya. But even in them, there is a good part and a bad part.

Question: In my mind there is no question or objection to Kabbalah. This is the absolute truth. But what astounds me is the lack of feeling. I have never been so far from feeling the Creator as I am now. What is the matter?

Answer: Very good. This is the discovery of the truth. You really are very far from the Creator. The fact that you feel this is already an approximation, some kind of truth, movement forward.

Question: Did the Creator create two forces: a desire to receive and a desire to bestow so that we will ultimately come to complete awareness that they do not exist, but that there is one truth: “There is none else besides Him” (Deuteronomy 4:35)?

Answer: To attain this higher truth, we must gather all the negative and positive sensations, thoughts, and actions, and begin to combine and match them in order to create a system that will show us the highest thought of creation. There is nothing more, just a point in Keter, the beginning of creation.

Question: Does a Kabbalist get more information because of the greater sensitivity of his soul?

Answer: A soul is the property of bestowal that a person acquires. If a person does not have the property of bestowal, then he does not have a soul. It is only through the property of bestowal that a person can understand what level he is at.

Question: Where do all the negative properties come from if they are absent in our root, since everything that exists was created by the Creator? Or are these negative properties simply the opposite side of the root, and our task is to connect everything within us?

Answer: The fact is that when there is one thing, then its opposite property must absolutely clearly manifest against it. One cannot exist without the other, only the Creator can. If a system of positive forces exists, it means that a system of negative forces also exists.

Question: Was the evil inclination that was created by the Creator immediately equal to him in magnitude, or has it evolved for thousands of years and become as it is?

Answer: Good and evil were created one against the other by a single higher power, which is, in fact, free of both good and evil.

Good and evil are always in balance, not in our world, but in the spiritual levels.

New Life 1059 – Sensitivity To Others

New Life 1059 – Sensitivity To Others
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

Nature is pushing us to become more sensitive to others and to develop our capacity to communicate as one person with one heart according to the principle, “And you shall love your friend as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18). In order to achieve this goal, we must become clothed within others and perceive good and bad or pleasure and pain from this new perspective. This is worthwhile because we depend on one another, even on a personal level. We are connected within a single, eternal system and need the right type of environment and education in order to discover the true reality.

One On One

laitman_258The whole creation is one soul, one spiritual vessel (Kli), HaVaYaH, which does not change. It does take on all kinds of forms only in the perception of a person who comprehends it. Therefore in spiritual work, it is necessary to strive to see the whole world as a single whole in which the general and the particular are equal and everything is connected and clear within one system.

Therefore, each of us has to feel like a messenger of society, as responsible for everyone. Each includes the whole ten, the world, and in general, all the worlds. In essence, each of us is one person, and if he imagines and sees some external world around him, it is only because he has not yet achieved perfect perception in order to understand that he is the only creation, except for whom there is no one else, no one opposite the Creator—one on one.

Thus, we do exercises to feel like a steward, or a messenger of society, as the one responsible for everyone, or everyone is responsible for me, and so on. Everyone saves me, and I take care of everyone. And all this so that in my perception, understanding, and most importantly feeling, the difference between me, the society, and the ten disappears. All the distinctions made to my perception as a result of the shattering arranged above must disappear so that I would see the whole world as one system in ten Sefirot.

This is the goal, so all the scrutinies, analysis, and synthesis are aimed at combining all the details into one. First one needs to dismantle everything into small pieces to analyze what a “steward,” a “messenger of society,” and other roles and forms of the work are. In this way we figure out each role and then find out how to put everything together so that they complement each other in one system.

That is, every detail needs to be studied in terms of how to put everything together. Although we single out each role, program, quality, action, and supposedly investigate them separately, we must constantly check how to return them to the whole Kli from the ten Sefirot created by the Creator, into one HaVaYaH within the four stages of direct Light.1
