Please tell me what you put into this book. What is the secret?

Answer: It seems to me that I simply tried to express my impressions of my encounter with Kabbalah there. Maybe it is because this book is so direct that people respond to it so much.

Comment: You also said that you wrote it in just about two weeks.

My Response: Correct.

Question: At what point does it happen that a person delivers it in such a way?

Answer: When it accumulates and pressures him from within, then that person just pours it all on paper.

Question: Did you feel like you were obligated to pour it out?

Answer: Yes; otherwise, it would weigh on me. It is like giving birth.

Question: Does this book sound like a child?

Answer: Yes.

Question: The audio version of this book is coming out now. People will listen. How is listening different from reading? What works more or less here?

Answer: Reading is still more intimate, and listening to someone is no substitute for reading.

Comment: Recently humanity has been listening to audiobooks more and more. But you still encourage reading in the old-fashioned way.

My Response: I am for reading. It is very intimate. I would not replace one with the other.

Comment: But you can combine it somehow. Listen while driving when there is no opportunity to read. And then come home and read it.

My Response: If I listen to something like that internally, I cannot drive a car and listen. I am in it with all my senses.

Question: In Rabash’s articles, it says that on one hand friends should be equal to me, then I can unite with them. On the other hand I must see the same friend as equal to myself, and another time higher than myself. When and how is this regulated?

Answer: To the extent a person can combine these two approaches within himself, he does that. It all balances out mutually. A friend relates to me as I relate to him, and we unite and move toward the Creator.

Comment: It is not clear where to find the energy for this. Your teacher Rabash writes that although we have no commandment to love our children, from nature there is a natural love for them; otherwise, there would be no continuation of the species. But here, it turns out that we must perform some unnatural actions.

My Response: Yes, these actions are not natural, and few people have the ability, impulse, and understanding to carry them out.

Question: So where do we get the energy to perform them?

Answer: From friends who initially have some inclination toward this. These are individuals who have this inclination. If they gather together under the guidance of an instructor or teacher who correctly directs them toward unity, they connect into one group and move forward in this way.

Answer: It depends on the person. Either you are glad that the Creator has answered you or you see Him as bad.

In this case, everyone must weigh their condition.

If you were truly allowed to see the evil in you or the misuse of a desire, then you should thank the Creator for this.

If your friend reveals evil in himself, then you must help him by joining him and working with him to transform this evil into good.

Implementing unity to the extent desired by the Creator means achieving unity without any limitations.

And in order to feel what He wants from us, we must ask Him, bother Him, and request from Him. And then we will understand the connection with Him and will develop in this connection.

Question: Since we are constantly striving to unite and our external actions always seem the same, how can we check our intention to bestow?

Answer: Look not at the actions, but at the intention. That is all you need to check: for what, for whom, in the name of what?

A sign of a correct intention is that it is directed toward the Creator.

Question: Light and Darkness met. “What do people find in you?”—exclaimed Darkness in surprise. “Neither beauty nor mystery—you just hurt one’s eyes!”

Light did not answer. It just politely stepped aside and silently illuminated the road because Darkness was heading toward an abyss without even seeing it.

Today everyone has the feeling that we are approaching an abyss and there is no one to light the way. What can light the way?

Answer: Mutual assistance and compassion. Only that.

Question: So if we manage to approach each other, we will be able to see that we are approaching the abyss?

Answer: Yes.

Question: In this parable, Light did not say anything to Darkness, it simply stepped aside and illuminated the path. It illuminated the path anyway. Why does light shines on everyone: criminals, haters, simply everyone!

Answer: This is its property, to shine on everyone.

Question: It seems to say: “Move away, you are interfering with me.” And Light moved aside and continued to shine. This is some kind of annulment. That is, someone sees this light, and someone does not. How can one see it? How can one feel that it is light?

Answer: This is the light of bestowal, the light of compassion, the light of rapprochement. This is the meaning of light.

Question: That is, light as such, as something extraneous, does not exist?

Answer: No, these are not photons that illuminate our retina.

Question: And not the light that is spoken about in spiritual practices, but namely the rapprochement between us?

Answer: Yes, it provides the condition where light spreads from itself and further on in all directions. And if this connection does not exist, then light cannot unite and conduct itself through all the matter.

Question: Suppose, people connect, do they begin to shine for everyone?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Or is this abyss visible only to them now?

Answer: No, this cannot happen. It shines for all.

Comment: That is, connection of even a handful of people brings light for everyone.

My Response: Yes. Initially they should realize what they connect for if they get connected. There must be an intention in advance to achieve light for everyone.

Question: Why should people connect?

Answer: To shine for everyone.

Our sages said: Open for me one cleft in repentance, as the tip of a needle, and I will open for you gates for wagons and carts to enter. (Writings of Rabash, Letter No. 48).

That means that the Creator expands our vessel, i.e., expands our desires and gives us additional ones. These are the actions of the Creator, and we should only ask Him for them.

A desire the size of the tip of a needle is a small initial desire with which a person can turn to the Creator. That is sufficient. The Creator does everything else.

Question: We realize the greatness of the Creator. How can one evoke love for Him?

Answer: This is a gift from the Creator. But we still need to invest more to show the Creator how much we desire a connection with Him. So we just need to keep going.

You must talk about this and ask that all your work will be spiritual, that is, for His sake. Desiring this, turn to Him so that He will help you rise above egoism so that you can think and ask for spiritual insight only for the sake of His contentment.
