Rabash, “Make Yourself a Rav and Buy Yourself a Friend-2”: After he has bonded with a group of people who wish to achieve the degree of love of the Creator, and he wishes to take from them the strength to work in order to bestow and be moved by their words about the necessity for obtaining the love of the Creator, he must regard each friend in the group as greater than himself. It was written in the book, Matan Torah (The Giving of the Torah, p 143), that one is not impressed by the society or takes their appreciation of something, unless he regards the society as greater than himself. This is the reason why each one must feel that he is the smallest of them all, since one who is great cannot receive from one who is smaller than himself, much less be impressed by his words. Rather, it is only the smaller one who is impressed through appreciating the greater one.

This is the major law and rule to opening the spiritual world. If we follow all the instructions that Rabash gives us, then there will be no obstacles along our way. We have to be ready to take these steps since the world needs it. The Creator not only gives us a chance to establish the spiritual group by ourselves and to bring Him contentment, but He also gives us a much greater mission.

He lets us understand that the only way to bring Him contentment is by correcting His world. Therefore, He brings this world to the verge of collapse so that we can prepare the world for the revelation of the Creator, and thus bring Him contentment.

So when we work in order to become more united, we must remember that eventually we have to draw the whole world into the group and thus bring about the complete revelation of the Creator to the created beings. As Baal HaSulam says, these are the “days of the Messiah,” the end of correction.

So we have to keep the laws of connections, self-annulment, and self-concession very seriously to mutually support and strengthen one another in order to attain the spirit of life and confidence, and to be filled with hope by the fact that everyone is impressed by others. In order to do that, everyone has to see the others as great, and being impressed by them, should give them the power to work on our connection and unity.

We have to ask for the force from above to connect us and we will make a covenant between us, mutual guarantee, mutual support, and the impression and being mutually incorporated in one another until we finally reach the collective power, the small spiritual force with which we turn to the great big world. Then we will see that when we have a collective spiritual power, even the slightest one, the world will be practically spread before us; it will be ready to receive from us, since the Light will pour through us unto the whole world. We will succeed wherever we go.

Question: When we are talking about integral learning, we get the impression that there is someone who already understands this method; it’s as if he controls the ordinary person and helps him pass to the next level. Who is organizing all of this for us?

Answer: In our world there are enough people that are not united but who already understand what needs to be done with humanity. Already ninety years ago the academic Vernadsky began to speak about the necessity for the integral unification of society. In his time, this gigantic “brain” had an enormous revelation; he saw the coming form of human development from the start. After that many of his followers appeared both in Russia and in other places. Today this is being discovered everywhere.

Question: All governmental and religious activists know that changing the consciousness of most humans changes society itself and the cooperation between its members, and as a result of this, the principles of managing the government are changed. What will happen to governments? After all, integrality is going to change and format the system.

Answer: On one hand, integrality will format the system, but I don’t think that this will remove the people who are in power. Those found at the peak of the government, the leadership, the economy, these are people who know and possess ability. Perhaps they don’t understand the future system, but they understand the egoistic system. They can organize the process in the right way even if this changes the entire egoistic society. This is to say, these are not ordinary people. They can help the new organization and can participate in it.

A person doesn’t enjoy the dollars that are lying in a safe, rather he enjoys the fulfillment, the feeling of importance, his superiority, that he is higher, stronger, and more important than others. The dollar bill is not fulfilling in itself but rather the spiritual equivalence in the value of this paper which gives security for today and tomorrow. Therefore all of the presently perceived constituents aren’t going anywhere. The power of money is simply going to be eliminated gradually, and in its place will come an absolutely different kind of government, a government of mutual integral cooperation: The more you invest in unity and connection, the more fulfillments you get.

Baal Hasulam, “The Peace”: These are the words of Rabbi Akiva: “The book is open and the hand writes.” Any state that the generation is in is like a book, and all the evildoers are as writing hands because each evil is carved and written in the book until they accumulate to an amount that the public can no longer bear. At that time, they ruin that evil state and rearrange into a more desirable state. Thus, each and every act is calculated and written in the book, meaning in the state.

And he says, “All who wish to borrow may come and borrow.” This means that he believes that this world is not like an open store without an owner, but that there is an owner present, a shopkeeper who stands in his store and demands of each customer the right price for the merchandise he is taking from the store, meaning toil in His work while he is nourished by that store, in a manner that is certain to bring him to the purpose of creation, as He pleases.

His goal is to attain bestowal. However, a person requires powers to realize this, and he doesn’t have these powers. He takes them on loan, even though he intends it all for bestowal. What is more, this is even if he wants to repay, that is, not to use anything for himself. He uses the entire world for bestowal.

According to the standards of our world, it is impossible to declare that a person like this is taking something on loan. You see that we get a loan for personal benefit. Here, everything is otherwise. Incidentally, the Torah’s prohibition against giving a loan with interest is derived from this. In the spiritual world, no loan must be paid back with more than what had been received.

So, the forces that I don’t have from the start I take on loan, but I am not taking for myself. They are not mine, I only add to them a desire for the sake of bestowal. Instead of the Creator, I bestow to everyone, and my entire goal is only to convey this bestowal skillfully, as if it were from His hands. I have nothing of my own besides my altruistic self that contracts the egoistic desire within it and acts above it. Therefore, essentially, I don’t have anything to return.

Question: In spite of all this, it is not clear: How can a person ask for a loan for himself in spirituality?

Answer: So, I said that this is another kind of loan. You see, I don’t have my own powers of bestowal. Additionally, I (specifically, I) want to give just as the Creator does. I have to transmit and give that which He wishes for the world.

This state is described allegorically with a metaphor that says that the Creator wanted to give the nations of the world the method of correction. However, they could not accept it. So, He used a transitional group called Israel, which means “straight to the Creator.” The people of Israel are like coordinators that connect the upper Light with the AHP. Thanks to this, Malchut can rise to Bina and be “sweetened” there so as to pass the Light from above downward.

So, this is called a loan only because a person doesn’t have the power of bestowal, and he receives this from the Creator. However, he doesn’t use it for himself, as it is customary in our egoistic world. In this world, a person seeks benefit for himself first of all, and afterward, he thinks about benefit for others, whether this is financial matters, well-being, or net pleasure. In spirituality, I ask not for myself. I want to participate in the life of the Creator. This participation is intended entirely for bestowal. For the sake of this, I activate all of my desire to the maximum possible level. Everything else I temporarily keep “locked up” under the restriction.

Question: So, how is it necessary to ask for a loan like this for the goal of bestowal?

Answer: This is called ascent, a request for correction (MAN). From the Creator, I request power to be able to examine, to correct, the deed itself. I want Him to do this, as it is written: “Be clothed in me and perform the deed of bestowal.” It is like an infant asks for help from his mother or simply cries, and the mother comes and helps. The entire problem is to turn into a “crying infant” internally. And it takes time to learn this….

“Richard Trumka, of the AFL-CIO union in the U.S., said austerity had ‘totally and utterly failed,’ destroying millions of jobs, driving economies into recession and choking recovery.

My Comment: No activities will help reduce unemployment. There is no need in factories that are being shut down now and in millions of similar businesses that will be closed in the near future. It is necessary to direct people into a different area of occupation: correction of our nature from egoism to correct mutual connection through the method of integral upbringing. This will create millions of jobs, will engage all layers of society, and will create a good atmosphere.

Question: Yesterday, you spoke about Abraham who discovered the wisdom of Kabbalah by introspection. What is that?

Answer: All of reality is in a person. What is more, reality doesn’t actually exist, there is a picture of it that I develop inside me. It is felt in the vessels, in my desires, by a certain sensor, by inner frames of a photographic film that reflect the reactions to the upper Light that depict my lack of equivalence of form with it.

A “flashlight” of the simple white Light is directed at me, but I am made of 613 different desires, different attributes that form a colorful, three dimensional picture of the world filled with sounds, scents and things I can touch on the background of the white Light. In other words, I actually “draw” or design the world in which I live.

However, according to my perception of reality, everything depends on my attributes and not on anyone else. It turns out that, if I change, the world will change. This is what we can do by introspection when I understand that I can change the world by the changes I make in me.

So, how can I change? I cannot do that by myself. I only have an unpleasant feeling in the current reality, and I cannot pull myself up by the hair out of the swamp. After all, even the thoughts about a change are part of this swamp.

This is exactly where the force of the shattering helps me. In my fictitious reality, there are people around me who tell me, “You know, we also think about that.” I see that the other parts of the still, vegetative, animate, and speaking nature are managed by one general mechanism, but my imagination draws people who have the exact same vector as I do, and this enables me to practice and to exercise. Now, I can see myself from the side. I can work with them just as I work with myself, like with an external reflection of myself.

When I work with them, I discover that this game is very creative. The relationship with the images of the friends helps me advance by acquiring a new perception, a new feeling. They don’t develop my old attributes and don’t add to the previous mind and previous feelings, but rather develop new qualitative attributes in me, attributes that I didn’t have before.

For example, a multi-dimensional perception or rising above the concept of time: Before, I could see the past, present, and the future, and now I stop feeling time. The external movements disappear and I perceive everything internally and connect it with the inner movements. I change, and as a result I feel changes on the background of the white Light.

If I work with the images of the friends that I see this way, I understand that it is true that they are depicted by my imagination, but the right attitude toward them allows me to acquire a special means for inner changes. Through the mutual efforts with these images, I attribute a certain independence to them—to the extent that I want to be independent. Eventually, when I play with them this way, I acquire the perception that takes me out of the current picture that is drawn on the screen of my consciousness to a new reality.

Question: I met with a group of the representatives of medium and large businesses who read your blog. They became interested in the integral methodology and began to show this literature to their employees. The result was a radical change in people’s life values.

They really begin to appreciate life, nature, and health more. However, at the same time, their motivation not only to make money, but even to work at all, disappeared. For example, an accountant quit his job and began drawing, and a businessman could not find the motivation to do business, so his company went down. What could be their motivation that they are driven to move on?

Answer: The problem is that you need to be involved in integral education, rather than self-learning. This is wrong because on one hand, they seem to be convinced that there is nothing in their relationships and activities today that could be worth giving strength and attention, but at the same time, they do not see another goal before them. That is why it is necessary to restructure the entire system and not just to exclude oneself from it as an active element. This is incorrect.

All the books on the subject of integral education are intended to acquaint oneself with it, and then there must be a specialist constantly tied to the groups of people. It is impossible otherwise.

In the integral system there is motivation to improve productivity, to ensure that people in the company think about how they work, how to save, make more economically, and how to relate to each other better. Here, to the contrary, a person leaves somewhere, loses any motivation and the desire to work. This is the wrong use of the method.

Question: Can the entrepreneurs who have completed the school of integral education retain the desire to earn money, and for what purpose?

Answer: It is to correct the world, to match it with the new system. Give me billions, and I will know what to do with it. They need to expand dissemination, to go further into the world! Then, their eyes will light up.

That is, the purpose of business is to further dissemination, to reveal the inner integral system because you disclose nature to all of humanity. You are the most important one here. You feel how you do this every day and all the rest find themselves in the system that you present to them. You feel like a god!

You can invest not only in dissemination but also in competition only on the new basis of building an enterprise where people will work according to this new system. It will be more efficient in terms of labor productivity.

Observe how much productivity will increase if people would desire to work, receive, earn, and simultaneously evolve, and further develop the integral system. For them, work will not be just a way of making a living but a means of expansion, a sensation of ascent.

Question: When we are working to create an integral society (community), we need to play with this. Together with this, must all of our mutual activities be carried out at the level of thought?

Answer: Absolutely! Nothing more is required of us. We are entering a system where only one thought operates: the beginning of the action, the action itself, and its result. This is all thought.

Question: It is like an assembly line of thought where a lot of people each are carrying out a simple action for a total common result.

Answer: This is not an assembly line of thought. It is, rather, a closed chain of thought, let’s say, like a group composed of ten people where all are linked integrally. This is to say, they all organize a space between them like this where all of their thoughts, desires, and intentions become a shared integral space. Their different thoughts become one thought because a positive influence will be derived from each in regard to all and the goal is their shared state on an integral level.

This common general state doesn’t have to be physical at all. We already have spoken about this state that we create within us, that we describe to ourselves. Suddenly, we begin to understand that we already can realize it and that this state is completely mental. This is a system of thought that is created in which we can exist. Along with this, our physical world even can depart from our feelings and we can get rid of it. We simply pass to another state, the next level of existence, for we exist in the physical world thanks to our bodies only. After all, they belong to the level of the “beast,” whereas the integral level is truly human. The Adam is a closed system of thought and desire mutuality found on the next level, beyond our bodies.

Therefore, the still, vegetative, and animate nature that exists in our world becomes only a basis, a foundation, for us to develop our next level of existence. This is the level of a mutual connection between us, not on the corporeal level, rather on the level of thoughts and desires.

Question: How can we explain to humanity the reason for all existing contradictions? People aren’t even interested in the research of “Higgs’ boson”—the “God particle”—held in CERN on the Large Hadron Collider. The latest discovery states that any instability can make the entire world and all mass disappear at any moment. How can you explain this to your students?

Answer: There is nothing ambiguous about it since I regard the world as two forces: positive and negative, bestowal and receiving. It doesn’t matter how we name them. These two forces build the entire universe, not merely this world, but even the realms that are much higher than ours and that we don’t sense through our five material, animate sensors.

In order to develop this standard of perception and observe the world through receiving and bestowal, we have to rise to this level. We are still at the elementary egoistic stage of receiving, meaning that all we do is consume everything around us. The Torah tells us that we have to bestow: “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” If we manage to balance receiving and bestowal and reach equilibrium, we would realize that our world disappears between these two states and the higher dimension (the world of forces) appears to us.

There are laws of nature which we learn about in the form in which we exist. We are egoists, our “material” is the desire for pleasure, and we search for opportunities to enjoy life with all our senses. This is our entire goal; all our life and effort is to feel maximum enjoyment with minimum effort at every moment.

That is how we exist. All of the still, vegetative, and animate nature, as well as humans, are instinctively attracted to pleasure. This was the tendency of our development throughout all generations; all of our science is based upon this. We examine nature with a similar intention, the search for maximal pleasure. Our view of the world and the laws which we investigate, the nature discovered through comprehension of ourselves and the environment, all this passes to our emotion and understanding through that “filter” according to an established formula, demanding the exploitation of reality for our own benefit.

Therefore, our outlook is always the most narrow and selective, devoid of any complexity. We don’t truly know what is to be found around us. We comprehend and understand things only to the degree that they fit into our basic mechanism, how much it approaches our principle to enjoy life.

This internal characteristic limits us very much. We don’t see a true picture; there are still many things that are hidden from our comprehension in this world. We are not objective.

There exists around us a multitude of phenomena of which we are unaware, and yet they are directly relevant to our life and our fate. So, the wisdom of Kabbalah comes to help us, making it possible for us to “open our eyes” and look objectively at the wide world spread beyond our five senses, which are limited by the “filter” of our selfishness.

To do this we must rise above our “filters.” Only then will we feel the world as it is. This is why we need the wisdom of Kabbalah, which is most important, and at the end of the matter, the most practical thing we can do. Besides investigating our nature, we must carry out particular actions to get used to looking at the world without inner disturbances, to rise above our ego to a comprehension of true reality.

For example, suppose that I am talking with someone and I feel that I don’t understand him because of previous opinions about him that I acquired from my education, the details that I see in him are very disturbing to me and limit my ability to understand him. Only if I rise above my habits, above my nature, above the education that I received, above my narrow view, can I truly understand him.

It happens to all of us that someone may claim that we don’t understand him, don’t want to understand; only after a number of years do we understand that due to our limitations that we truly didn’t understand him. Logically, our relationship was narrow and indifferent. If we were able to rise above our “personal views,” we would see the person as he is. Though this is very difficult, it is possible.

This touches upon our general comprehension of Nature. There is a very difficult problem here. In relationships with other people we can use psychological exercises, external influences, listen to explanations, and ultimately see our mistakes, deviations in our comprehension. But how do we build the right attitude towards the entirety of nature? How is it possible to see it without our habits? This is much more difficult.

Who will explain to me how to look at the world with different eyes as if it is not me who I am seeing but someone who has no form of his own? To do this, I must become completely independent of myself….Therefore, we use the advice of Kabbalists who already went above their nature, above the ego, which limits and distorts one’s perspective. If we do precisely what they say, ultimately we will succeed.

Sometimes we draw closer to a true picture, sometimes we fall back, and vice versa. We discover our extreme limitations, discover our very “narrow” and even bleak egoistic relationship regarding various phenomena. We call these states “ascents” and “descents.” They help us understand how much we are trapped within our ego and how difficult it is to rise above it.

The Kabbalists say that in order to go out of captivity, it’s up to us to build connection with other people, and working together we try to see them more objectively. According to the formula, “each person will help his friend,” we can inspire ourselves to ascend, to want to ascend above our nature that limits us. And if we try to do this, we awaken a unique power in nature called the “Light that Reforms.” This force helps us to develop ourselves to be freed from a limited, narrow, and egotistical perspective of the world, stripping ourselves of our limitations.

And then we see a good, perfect, and eternal world without any restrictions attributed to our bodies. So we begin to feel different special senses: not sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touching, rather, Keter, Hochma, Bina, Zeir Anpin and Malchut. Through them we comprehend reality without limitations, and then we feel our lives as independent of the body.

We feel ourselves as perfected, eternal creatures existing within an eternal, perfect world, and relate to the body as we would to an animal, like a dog lying next to his master, each having his own life. There is a connection between them, but the person doesn’t depend on the dog at all. The living body could live and it could die while the person in us continues to exist in a higher world without limitations in an eternal reality. It’s there that he feels and discovers himself.

We feel this upper world as a unique system; we call it a “psychological” system. It becomes the “body” but it is no longer a physical body, rather what we would call the “soul.” And our entire goal is to discover our true selves that no longer exist within the material body, unlimited by its concerns and usefulness, rather rising above it to eternity and perfection.

And then we essentially discover that all of our life was meant only for this. Our body gradually grows old and dies, meaning that it stops existing as an animate form and returns to the still, yet we continue to live since within we have received true existence. This is the goal that we want to attain through learning the wisdom of Kabbalah.

The main thing here is not the learning itself, rather the actions that we must carry out among us so that with their help we can in fact develop a new sense without limitations.

Therefore, we gather in groups. This began with the first Kabbalists thousands of years ago. They also organized themselves into groups and already understood in accordance with a higher nature what kind of arrangement there must be within them, what kind of relationships there must be between friends.

You see, in a group there specifically must be friends who are connected, are concerned for each other, feel and support each other. The group needs to be whole, this is to say, to be a single whole where they complete each other and create something unified.

While building this unity, we acquire a system ready to comprehend, to feel, the upper world. This is because we have exited ourselves and exist outside of our ego. We build the group for this according to the advice of the Kabbalists. They are our teachers, and we act like them.

This is speaking of a practical science in which everything is done according to accumulated experience. Over thousands of years, people who broke through to the upper world tried various means on themselves to advance and they described this for us. So, today we are using tried and true prescriptions.

Beyond this, today, we ourselves are developing additional means to help us to advance. The conditions of life are different in every generation because our ego is growing all the time.

And today it not only grows, but it also “closes in on itself,” which has become an additional problem. We are no longer just egoists. Because of the increased strength of our ego, we want to get away from each other. We see this in statistics about divorces, and in general in the general trend: Everyone requires his own apartment, his own car, his own “place.” We prefer to connect through cell phones, through the Internet, in social networks, not face to face, not one to one. It seems to us that mutual connection has grown, yet the reality is the opposite: The world is becoming more and more divided, fragmented, dispersed.

Simultaneously, though we aspire to get away from each other, in spite of all this, we feel connected. Therefore, we build artificial systems for making connection possible, while preserving the independence of the ego. Everyone sits in his own cell, in his corner with his smart phone, with his computer, with his email. And we call this a “connection”; the main thing being not truly to touch each other.

These new phenomena in our world require new methods from us, making it possible for us to rise above the ego, to go out and feel the real world, with real feeling that hasn’t passed through the “filters” of our ego. And therefore besides the usual forms, we also use workshops. I see already that in the future we will have other similar means, in a few more months or years depending upon the advancement of the world and our advancement within it. But one way or another, all these means are designed solely for us to rise above ourselves, above our nature, and not remain trapped within the prison of our body.
