Faith Is A Natural Human Need

294.1Question: A person has an inherent need to believe in something, to have idols, to look up to something, to worship something. Is faith inherent in our nature or is it a result of the development of society?

Answer: Faith is a characteristic of a highly developed organism. We cannot say that some primitive creatures or animals have faith. Faith is a natural need of a person since it comes from his insecurities.

Faith is an internal movement of a person who wants to put himself on some kind of pedestal, on some essential natural or scientific basis, where he can rely on something.

Question: As a Kabbalist, what do you believe in, what do you worship?

Answer: In general, I do not believe in anything and I do not worship anyone or anything. But, on the other hand, there are things that I elevate, respect, and try to reach the level of. You can say that I kind of worship them, but this worship is more like respect.

Feeling The Creator Is Called Faith

Passover—A Step Beyond Egoism

934How to feel the Creator? If I want to feel any kind of force that exists in nature, then I have to match it, just as in receiving a radio wave it is necessary to tune the radio receiver to it. Only then will I hear that there is a broadcast on this wave. Which means, it all depends on the receiver.

The Creator fills the entire universe on infinite number of waves, on all ranges, and in all forms. It is one general, all-encompassing wave that creates and supports the whole reality. And how do we catch it?

Kabbalists say that we only need a receiver to catch and detect this wave. And then we will see how many possibilities this receiver gives, like a radio that can be tuned to any wave and we can accordingly hear everything that exists outside the receiver. This is how we will be able to perceive the Creator in all kinds and forms.

There are 125 degrees of attainment of the Creator, and at each degree there are ten Sefirot of direct and reflected light and many more manifestations of the upper force. In this way, we gradually reveal the Creator by changing our own qualities. After all, it is man who must make himself a receiver for the upper force. And the method for creating such a receiver is called the science of Kabbalah, the method of attaining the Creator and revealing Him inside a person.

The Creator will not reveal himself anywhere else; only inside the receiver that each person builds inside himself by joining ten friends and acquiring their qualities, absorbing them inside himself. It turns out that the whole ten is inside me, and this is how I reveal the inner force that connects all these ten parts, which is called the Creator, meaning “come and see” (Bo-Re).

The beginning of the construction of such a receiver within which the Creator is revealed is called the exodus from Egypt. I begin to build a connection between different and alien egoistic desires by faith above reason, by the power of Bina, the power of bestowal and connection. And when I create such a network of connections above egoistic forces, I reveal the Creator within it, and this is called the revelation of the Creator to the creations.

We come to this revelation after leaving Egypt, in a state called the Passover (Pesach) celebration—from the word “transition” (Pasach), which means a step forward beyond our desire to receive.

The Arbiter I Summon

742.03Question: Today we are in a state where a person is given to understand that he does not decide anything, he is nobody and nothing, and it is useless to try to change something within the framework of this world.

What is the program for the realization of freedom in equivalence with the Creator?

Answer: The realization of freedom in the likeness with the Creator is when I do not want to, but I must call upon the Creator as an arbiter because I am between two states and do not know what to prefer.

I decide what He decides because this is the only upper force from which two opposite states derive. They converge in me, but I cannot solve my conflict, i.e., combine the plus with the minus so that this system, these two universes, spiritual and corporeal, start working for me.

Therefore, I must call upon a third force that connects them correctly and creates a certain resistance between them. Then it will be like a motor that runs on two wires connected to it.

In this case, I will start working and will find myself in the same state as the Creator. From Him, two forces descend and unite in me.

By invoking Him, I give birth to the same quality as His, the same state as His, and at the same time, I become a man, Adam, from the word “Domeh,” similar to the Creator.

Therefore, I really call upon Him; I do not transfer freedom to Him, but I summon Him, I include His quality in myself. The Creator is a quality of bestowal, love, and the attraction of everything for common bestowal, a common system, and I become just like Him.

This is the freedom to become like the Creator, like this integral nature, to rise above all that He has done, just as He is, above all that has been created. This is prepared for all of us. This is the purpose of man.

Zero Corridor

938.05There is no need to be afraid that all our attempts to bestow will eventually turn into an egoistic action for our own sake. We still need to continue. If I give a friend a gift, then of course, this is also an egoistic action, but it is pleasant to me and pleasant to the one to whom I do it.

It turns out that we get closer and thus provide the Creator with a place where He can enter between us. The closer we are to each other, the more opportunities the Creator has to be included in this gap.

The Creator does not need a wide gap; on the contrary, He needs there to be a difference between one and the other, but it should be zero. If there is a difference, but this difference is zero, then the Creator is there.

We want to bring our qualities, intentions, thoughts, and desires so closely together that they all act in the same direction and so there is almost no difference between them. The difference between us comes from the side of nature, from the side of the Creator, but we want to merge with each other above these differences.

It turns out that the gap between us in our connection is zero, and then we reveal the Creator in it one hundred percent. After all, the Creator does not need a place; if there is a place, these are already impure forces.

If we would wish to get so close that there will be zero gap between us, then the Creator will do it.

The Spiritual Significance Of The Three Temples

448.9The First Temple was built in 950 B.C. by King Solomon. The Temple is a symbol of the corrected Kli, the human soul, which is completely directed toward the Creator and is in full contact with Him.

Question: What is the difference between Jerusalem and the Temple?

Answer: A temple is already a more embodied striving toward the Creator because it is located in the city and on the mountain and it means the place of contact between the physical and the spiritual.

The construction of the First Temple represented the unification of the 12 tribes. Then this structure was destroyed and the Second Temple became a symbol of the unity of only two of the tribes.

The Third Temple, as stated in Kabbalistic sources, is the unification of all mankind when all the properties of a person will be striving toward the work of bestowal.

Jerusalem Is A Single Spiritual Property

200.02Question: Various primary sources say that in the future, Jerusalem will become a beacon for the peoples of the world, and they will rush to its light, as it is written: “And nations shall go by your light” (Isaiah 60:3). Why is everything so encoded? What is this about?

Answer: The point is that the idea of the rapprochement of peoples is originally in the universe itself, in its very structure. But this will manifest itself only after the correction of all its parts when everyone strives for unification and sees that this is precisely the center, symbol, and goal of creating the whole world.

Then we will know what the great city of Jerusalem truly represents.

There is such a concept of rebuilding Jerusalem within yourself. We must create within ourselves such a property, such a movement toward, connection between ourselves, so that there is no difference between people, so that we can feel each other through movement and turn into one single whole.

Then this single property, into which all our private qualities and hearts will unite, will be called “Jerusalem.” And the first step toward this should be the abolition of selfishness.

Empathy Helps In Correction

560Question: Anyone in the world sitting at home can see on their TV or computer screen how the war is going on. Is it good from the point of view of spiritual development?

Answer: I think this is good because it helps a person to be a direct participant in all events and, as a result, to seek to make his influence on the course of events and their outcome.

In general, empathy helps in correction.

The Creator Is Not Revealed In Egoism

207According to the extent of the Panim of the degree, so is the extent of its Achoraim. The instilling of the Achoraim is a calling and an invitation to instill the Panim. This is why by the measure of the concealment of the Achoraim that they attained, they knew the measure of disclosure that they were about to attain (Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, Zohar for All).

We are talking about the concealment that we have to make on our egoism in order to correct it. Revelation above concealment is how the spiritual Kli or spiritual vessel works. Only in this case will we be able to receive the revelation of the Creator into it.

Question: What is concealed from us?

Answer: Everything is concealed from us! Yet, we were given a very interesting state, which if we gradually attain it, we will reveal everything. However, we will reveal this state not in our receiving, but in the bestowing desires. Therefore, there is revelation in concealment. These two opposite forces, two opposite states, confuse people.

Question: Does a person, nevertheless, reveal the governance of the Creator?

Answer: Yes, but he does not reveal it in his egoistic desires, which are inherent in him, but in the altruistic ones that he creates above the egoistic desires. Therefore, the initial state is called concealment, and then it becomes revelation in concealment.

There is a big difference between these states because you do not reveal the Creator in egoism, but in the fact that thanks to your special work with the ego, you build a system above it in which you reveal the Creator, the quality of bestowal.

From The Ground Up

610.2Question: If Kabbalah is a science, why does it operate with such a concept as the Creator? How is it compatible?

Answer: The Creator is a general force of nature. This is what Einstein wanted to reveal as a physicist. Many scientists understand that there is one single force in nature that manifests itself relative to us as many different physical, chemical, and cosmic phenomena and forces, including those that we do not yet know about.

In principle, behind all these particular phenomena and laws that we reveal in relation to our senses, there is one single force, one single source. Gradually, as we study nature, we come to this conclusion.

This one force in Kabbalah is called the Creator because it created us. We are a creation of nature. The Gematria of the word “Teva – nature” is identical to the word “Elokim – the name of the Creator.” This indicates that the Creator or nature is one and the same.

The theory of a single field that Einstein was looking for is absolutely clearly presented in Kabbalah to anyone who wants to understand it, and based on this, determines their movements in this field, just as an electric charge moves in an electromagnetic field to its source in order to enter into harmony with itself.

Let’s say an electric charge has mass and there is some kind of gravitational field in which it finds a state of equilibrium. The mass and the gravitational field pull it, like egoism, down to our world, and the electric potential in it and the source of the electromagnetic field are from above, and depending on the difference of these forces, it resides, as they say, between heaven and earth.

So, we too, must develop ourselves so that our spiritual potential pulls us up higher and higher from the ground. Therefore, the whole methodology of our ascent, our development, can be described in clear physical formulas.

Kabbalah operates with absolutely real terms: thickness, attraction, screen, rigidity of the screen, force of reflection, light coming from a certain angle, interference, etc.

Along with this, certain sensations arise in a person, because by using these phenomena, he applies them in himself, in his own forces. And then, through his forces, he feels everything that surrounds him, which is called the upper world.

Question: How is it possible that through these seemingly dry terms, a person all of a sudden comes to sensations?

Answer: It is possible! For example, when you look at the notes, it seems to you that some squiggles are drawn on the paper. And the musician looks at it, cries, laughs, and sings. For him, this is a record of information.

The Kabbalist sees this language! For him, this language is alive! Feelings and forces begin to play in it.

Stick To The Creator

594Question: Question about the truth. Where is it?

Answer: Truth is the best state of creation because, with regards to creation, we can speak. The perfect state of creation can only be in full equivalence with the Creator.

If we take, for example, a foil and begin to apply it to some statue, then the full equivalence, the full form, the absolute form that the foil will take when it is completely dressed on the statue will be the truth, the verity. Such is its state.

Question: Does it mean that we, dressed on the Creator are the truth? Then, do I need to know what the Creator is?

Answer: Of course! What the Creator is. You do need to attain some element of the truth to measure everything relative to it.

Question: But what is it? What does it mean that I dress on Him?

Answer: To be dressed on the Creator means complete equivalence to the Creator. Relative to us, we cannot give this any other practical definition.

Question: What is the Creator?

Answer: The quality of bestowal and love emanating from my absolute egoism. It is when our complete egoism, precisely created by the Creator, is totally, to the full extent like the Creator.

Question: Does our egoism become material?

Answer: Yes, it becomes a foil dressed on the image of the Creator.

Question: Do I take my egoism and start sticking it on the Creator to become like Him?

Answer: Yes, part by part. In this way, you conclude that, in principle, this is the only thing you need.

Question: What does my egoism turn into? What does the foil turn into if it is stuck in such a way?

Answer: Into the form of the Creator. That is why you are called Adam—like the Creator. That is, this material from which you are created, you must put it on the Creator.
