What Happens to the Soul When the Body Dies

571.04Question: What happens to a man, to his soul, when he dies?

Answer: When a man dies his body dies and he no longer perceives himself through his body. That is all.

But his Reshimot remain. A Reshimo is a record, an information chain about its further states. It is recorded from the beginning of creation to the end. And from the moment his body dies, he continues to realize this chain of Reshimot in other forms without being clothed in a corporeal body and without perceiving his existence through it.

Question: But is there any realization that this is my Reshimo?

Answer: Yes. But it is not like now.

Question: Better or worse?

Answer: It depends on his life.

Question: So there remains some awareness that I exist?

Answer: Of course. Nothing disappears.

Question: What happens to the soul then?

Answer: The soul is that part of the desire that has corrected itself and united with humanity in order to affect good on it. Thus the soul continues its existence in the total volume of the whole of the desire. This is a different realization, a higher one.

Rising Above Your “Beast”

560Comment: If I look at myself on the basis of my feelings, I begin to understand that some unpleasant transformations are taking place inside me. But if I look from some additional point, if earlier my “beast” was suffering, and I was ready to save it, now…

My Response: Now you understand that maybe this beast should be patient for a little while, and you will ride it. You are already beginning to study yourself from the outside!

Comment: But at the same time, there still is the association of myself with this beast and the attempt to find the strength to overcome this.

My Response: Yes, you still associate yourself with it and this state does not go away until the final correction.

The animate level that exists in us should be the basis for the spiritual degree. On it, I make my spiritual elevation. Until I have completely finished it, this level is underneath me.

Therefore, I must exist in the sensation of this body and this world until I fully come into contact with all people on the internal level to such an extent that I no longer need the level of today’s animalistic communication with them. Then this level will disappear.

It is depicted only in our feelings. The world is matter given to us in feelings. Therefore, this degree will disappear. We remain to exist only in the spiritual state and the corporeal states will catch up and enter spirituality as its components.

Literally from the very first degree of our spiritual ascent above corporeality, we will begin to understand that this world is imaginary. It does not exist, it is within us. It does not exist outside of our feelings.

I hope that humanity will quickly realize this. Science, philosophy, sociology, and psychology are already ready for this. I think that everyone will soon begin to understand this, and this will also help. The main thing is to start looking at yourself and at the world in this way, and this will come.

The Path We Must Walk

232.05In spirituality everything happens in our feelings, not in the mind, but in the sensory organ called desire.

In order to create created beings and give them the opportunity to reach attainment at the Creator’s level, it is necessary to create and bring the desire to such a condition that it will be able to feel the Creator, i.e., the entire universe. After all, by the Creator we mean the entire universe given to us to attain.

How is this done? The initially created desire gradually grows to resemble the Creator; it discovers the egoistic inclination in itself that is absolutely opposite to Him, it is shattered, and it must recreate itself from a state opposite to the Creator to a state similar to Him.

This, in principle, is the path we must walk. A part of this path happens during preparation when we do not yet feel ourselves. Just as the conception of a person occurs in our world when two forces, father and mother, by copulating, create all conditions for the development of a child (a new desire), which then comes from them and already develops independently.

This is how we must imagine ourselves as truly independent desires which, on one hand, are controlled by the Creator, and on the other hand are absolutely independent of Him. This means that we need to determine what our freedom is and what our direct dependence or lack of independence is.

These two opposing forces must work in us simultaneously. We must balance them, bind them together, and direct them so that they complement each other.

Thus, out of these two forces—the force of reception and the force of bestowal—something will grow that will be called “similar to the Creator.” To the extent that in this force we have oppositeness to the Creator, it will work for being similar to Him. Then the creature that is formed will be called Adam, meaning similar to the Creator.

Realizing Yourself Correctly

962.7Question: In our world we have two states. If I were able to reach awareness and sensory attainment of the common soul, of the common organism of the entire humanity, then I, in a way, would receive this feeling and continue to live in it.

If not, would I then feel only my Reshimot and also continue my existence in it until they give me a new body?

Answer: Let’s say yes.

Comment: It is hard to explain all this somehow.

My Response: No, it is not hard. You just need to realize yourself correctly in the right society. Then it will show you correctly everything that Kabbalah says.

Comment: But so many years have already passed, we have existed for thousands of years, and…

My Response: Who implements it? Very few individuals in every generation. Nowadays, however, there are more of them.

Comment: Still, there is no consensus on this issue.

My Response: Among whom should it be? It exists among the Kabbalists—those who attain this wisdom and change themselves. The rest of the people do not yet go beyond the limits of their animate, material body.

The Great Words of The Book of Zohar

933“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to also sit together.” These are the friends as they sit together, and are not separated from each other. At first, they seem like people at war, wishing to kill one another. Then they return to being in brotherly love.

The Creator says about them, “Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brothers to also sit together” The word, “also,” comes to include the Shechina with them. Moreover, the Creator listens to their words and He has contentment and delights with them (Zohar for All, Aharei Mot [After the Death], “Behold, How Good and How Pleasant,” Item 65.)

These are the great words from The Book of Zohar. This is what happens when people go through enormous obstacles and discover how much they hate and dislike each other, to what extent they are lying to each other, and how much they deceive themselves. They like to say beautiful words and then realize that all this is meaningless because after a second, as soon as they say something, they already completely disagree with it, and so on.

When they come close to the right correction and it is revealed to them how much they were at war with each other and how they deceived each other, then from this they return to brotherly love. This is when they say, “How good it is for brothers to sit together.” After all, they feel the manifestation of the Creator between them. Precisely between them. This is the occurrence of the Shechina, the manifestation of the Creator.

They feel how much they bring contentment to the Creator and how He rejoices together with them. By merging with each other and with the Creator, they become one single whole when both the desire and the light that fills them are one.

The Difference Between Direct and Surrounding Light

507.05Question: What are the types of lights?

Answer: The Creator influences creation in many ways. There is direct light, reflected light, and surrounding light; there is light that comes from above downward and from below upward that disintegrates into many different kinds of lights.

Question: What is the difference between direct and surrounding light?

Answer: The creation feels the direct light as coming directly from the Creator and the surrounding light as the Creator’s action on it by extraneous methods, through some phenomena or persons.

Men Have a Lot to Learn From Women

507.03Comment: We received a letter from women who gathered in Latvia to support our congress. They write that they also have a strong congress in Latvia, Moscow, and virtually as well, absolutely identical to the male one.

In parallel with our meetings, they have regular gatherings of friends, which are held by women’s groups from different countries. They use them to clarify the prayer and the role of women. They realize that women cannot live and unite for their own sake, but they live and unite for the sake of men, the future generation, and the world.

My Response: I absolutely agree with them. Indeed, we men need to learn this from women. They initially have a more “outside of themselves” nature. And we will try to be similar and correct ourselves.

Complete Update

627.2Question: Is there a connection between spiritual genes and the corporeal states of my physiological body?

Answer: Naturally, there is. Both of these factors are active within the same person.

There are things that we receive through the corporeal world and there are things that we receive through the spiritual world. Some are perceived by us through study and others are perceived through the surrounding society, relatives, and so on.

Question: So is it possible to change the corporeal states as well?

Answer: Everything can be changed. A person can change himself completely.

Becoming Adam

742.03Comment: We have an instinctive program for the development of the physiological body. And we see how it develops.

My Response: This happens at the inanimate, vegetative and animate levels of nature. At the human level, however, we must educate a person and raise him, otherwise a Man will not grow out of him.

In other words, there is one program that is not related to my awareness of it—this is “animal.” And there is a program called “man within a human” in order to grow a Man out of this animal.

Question: What do you mean by “Man”?

Answer: The animal in which love for others is consciously developing is called “Man.” After all, by cultivating love for others, one becomes like the Creator. “Similar to the Creator” and is called “Adam“—from the word “Domeh.” Therefore, such a man is called “Adam.”

Love for my neighbor is a manifestation of my correct connection with him and the restoration of one common system, which is referred to in Kabbalah.

Feel the Connection to Each Other

937Comment: When I hear the melody that the friends sing together, I catch some kind of vibration. And if I enter with my minimal vibration, then a feeling of some kind of volume, a kind of stereo, is formed.

My Response: Thanks to your voice, you begin to hear everyone else and perceive the whole range of sounds through it. And if you listen from the outside, then you perceive others not through your voice, not through your participation, but one-sidedly, not as from within.

By participating in a common action, you connect with everyone, and through this connection you feel the inner strength, the inner meaning of “vocal singing,” a chorus, or some kind of common action.

This is the difference between attempts to overcome individualism in our world, that is, to supposedly connect with each other, but at the same time everyone is watching from the outside, from what Kabbalah offers, helping a person to go inside, free from himself, and feel exactly the commonality, a “not himself.” Here a person has to go into annulment of himself, into the restriction of “I” (Tzimtzum Aleph).

Comment: But he feels it all through himself. This is very clearly felt when everyone is singing.

My Response: The fact is that such ranges suddenly open up in you, such sensations, such possibilities of subtle perception and all kinds of internal switching, as if you suddenly enter through a small door into a huge hall, and such divine music sounds in it, such perfection, that you begin to try to gradually find yourself in it through start-stop actions. This is the first acquaintance. Naturally, this pulls a person and pushes him, like a child.

Comment: At the same time, each voice individually can be absolutely terrible and imperfect.

My Response: Of course! It really is so.

Question: If you record this singing does any energy remain in it or is it felt only at the moment of singing?

Answer: It remains, nothing is lost. But you can never return to the old; you are always directed only toward new attainment. Here, it’s not like Baron Munchausen’s “the sounds froze and then thawed.” You have to try to do things in a new way and even think less about the old.

Question: But if someone else hears this singing, will he receive some kind of energy from it, from within?

Answer: How will he hear? From the fact that we sing, let’s say, together? Physically sing? After all, we can sit and not sing, but simply enter a state where we feel each other’s commonality.

A person should be ready to hear. Nothing will work without preparation.
