Shame—The First Restriction

628.1Question: Our desires are the creation. The last phase of creation, Malchut, is a conscious desire to receive pleasure from the status of the Creator, that is, to connect with Him and use Him for one’s own sake.

As soon as Malchut begins to use this connection for its own sake, a sense of shame arises in it, and it performs the next action called the first restriction.

What is this feeling of shame?

Answer: Shame is the feeling of not being similar to the Creator in desires, plans, and actions. From this, a person feels the disparity between oneself and the Creator, called shame.

Shame is a new feeling in creation, in the desire to enjoy, to receive, because there was no such feeling before. It arises when the desire feels that it does not correspond to the Creator.

Question: Is it something created by the Creator, by the upper force? Or is it a reaction of creation, i.e., something new?

Answer: No, this is not a reaction of the creation, but it is what the Creator created and what the creation feels as a fundamental difference from the Creator. The creation understands that it is receiving, but there is someone giving, and this causes shame in it.

Getting Out into Real Life

963.4Kabbalah primarily shares to create the right environment for yourself and everything will be fine. Nothing else is needed, no other effort!

Enter this environment. Be only among such people! Do not listen to others! They do not understand anything anyway. Why listen to them? Is it in order to allegedly object to them, to argue? There is no need! You will not convince them of anything! They have a thousand different issues.

Question: Suppose a person begins to study Kabbalah. At first he is delighted with everything and everyone, and then it begins: “This one is not quite right, and this is not the way it should be,” that is, he is no longer ready to exalt the environment. So, what is next?

Answer: Then he must understand what he really needs, what goal he is pursuing; is it to say that everyone is a fool and to feel good, or is it to really get out into real life, to attain something new through his own change. Then you have to put pressure on yourself and obey this environment.

Comment: The fact is that in ordinary life a person immediately isolates himself from this environment. And here, a person understands his inner rejection from the others, but at the same time he holds on with all his might. However, this process occurs naturally in him. He cannot bring himself to treat everyone the way he did before.

My Response: But we must try to quickly go through these states; otherwise, it is a pity; time goes by and life passes.

Like in a Family

275Question: How, by changing oneself, can a person studying Kabbalah change his attitude toward others or toward the events that happen to him?

Answer: Only by learning integrality and complete interconnection above all contradictions. Leave all the contradictions below and try to connect above them. Drop everything else! Otherwise, we become more and more opposed to nature, and nature will rain blows on us. That is all. This is the easiest solution. Nothing else.

Therefore, it is our common global integral connection, that we need to discuss and implement. Above everything! We should solve our problems at a round table, like in a family, figuring out how to unite in the most kind way, mutually participating in everything.

At the same time, each of us has a huge number of claims against everyone, and we leave them all below, as in a family, and solve our common problem above them, otherwise, we will not survive.

The laws of nature are immutable. There is nothing in them to make nature take pity on us. This is a rigid law. If you are similar to it—good, if not—you receive negative effects. That is, you set yourself up with respect to this system, which is clearly determined and goes forward in this way.

How to Accelerate Movement toward the Creator

631.1Question: We feel a great need for connection and a great desire to ask with all our might for our common correction and for freedom from egoism. How can we accelerate this movement?

Answer: Imagine that now we have the opportunity to get closer to each other more than usual and to attract the Creator. Ask and beg Him to join in our connection too.

We would like to make our connection absolutely good, mutual in form and content so that the Creator can fully be revealed in it and enjoy what we offer to Him.

And we would perceive His revelation in us as the Shechina, as an absolute, comfortable, pleasant revelation of Himself to His creations. That is why He created us.

Help from Above

549.02Comment: A person seems to become callous after studying Kabbalah.

My Response: This is a natural process. A person must become stronger and stronger. You are not going anywhere! That is who we are. And we have to go against it with the help of the right environment that will affect us.

And it affects you, along with the others, when you constantly read the primary sources and sometimes try to distance yourself as much as you can from your thoughts and desires, to look at yourself from the outside, and not be at the mercy of your egoism, but to somehow get out of it a little.

This happens at the most difficult, inopportune moments: when you are studying, when you feel bad, when you see how it all works on you, and when you are forced to submit to some other person’s will. This is help from above.

Questions about Spiritual Work—7

963.4Question: If I carry a state of rejection to the ten, how do we work within the ten without falling into the left line and making it worse if the friends have a similar state?

Answer: Add up your states with the rest and achieve a positive effect.

Question: Why is it important to state the intention before the lesson? When I hear my friends, my heart opens. What happens when everyone says the intention and comes to the lesson with it?

Answer: You get a common intention. You connect with each other, and it means a lot. You open a common Kli, vessel.

Question: When we meet with other tens, we interconnect, open up to each other, unite, and feel great inspiration as if the Creator is between us. At our ten meetings, it all goes away and is erased as if we are shy and do not appreciate each other. How do we work with it?

Answer: The Creator shows you that you are not trying to keep yourself in a state of unity with each other all of the time. It is bad. There must be the importance of friends.

Question: It happens that during the lesson the head is empty and does not want to think, and the heart is full of love for friends, for the world Kli, for you, and for the Creator. Is this a normal state?

Answer: The normal state is when both are included in the work and you feel very close to each other.

Truth Is Relative

507.03Comment: You once mentioned that truth is what is supported by a large number of people.

My Response: Any lie that is supported by a multitude of people becomes the truth for them even though it has no real connection to the actual truth or what may be factual. Humanity has many such misconceptions.

We are like small insects on a tiny planet in a small galaxy somewhere on the outskirts of the universe. We know nothing about anyone or anything. We just tamper with nature a little bit, and we have already ruined it. We have dug ourselves into a hole where we no longer desire anything. So there is no point in talking about any truths. What truths are there? Everything is relative to a person, as he imagines it.

If you talk to astrophysicists or specialists in quantum physics, i.e., people who deeply study matter, they will say things that the average person would not agree with. They are already considering that there is no time, no space, no movement, and that our universe is not what it seems, that it is folded, holographic, and that man is not how he feels and perceives himself at all.

In principle, we currently have a completely distorted transitional picture. We are in a phase transition, at a point of bifurcation where all sorts of inexplicable phenomena are happening to us, and we do not know what to do with them.

And what is the truth here? Every time we make mistakes, and again search for the truth, and again accept something as truth only to find that it is not accurate. Everything is relative, and it should be that way!

The main thing is for a person never to be deceived by the belief that they have caught the truth by the tail and now it is absolute. Nothing is absolute in the world because our understanding, our perception, is just a reflection of our internal changes: we feel ourselves and not the universe, not the cosmos.

By feeling ourselves, we constantly see a variety of completely different pictures because we ourselves are changing and are in the process of some kind of evolution that we do not understand.

Now we are also going through a very serious stage of evolution. How we will perceive ourselves after passing through this state is unknown, but it will be completely different. Many scientists are already talking about this. We will perceive the world not individually, but through a collective lens, in general. And it will feel completely different.

People Are Prone to Making Mistakes

549.02Question: When you say something, do you generally say it from the point of view of truth?

Answer: Relatively concerning the person who receives it and no more than that. There is nothing absolute in our world nor in attainment of the upper world. But there it is clear.

Question: Let’s say you explain something to the students, and with regard to one this is the truth, but with regard to the other two, in their perception, this is nonsense. Where is the common ground for these three people?

Answer: The common ground is that each of them understands that what the other feels is true with regard to him, but maybe not with regard to me.

Comment: There are people who take it as a truth that they can cure all diseases by vegetarianism, others by raw food, and others by yoga. And this does not change at all throughout life.

My Response: It does not change the same way it does in animals. The more often a person’s opinions change, the better because it means that he himself changes, which means that he is human. The one who does not change is an animal, a petrified frozen individual.

When he has many opinions and is constantly in doubt, does not know with what to agree and with what not to agree, and is in some special state, then he is human.

Truth is born from doubts and then is refuted in doubts, and the next one is born. This is how we grow: day and night and day and night, in our sensations, conclusions, analyses, synthesis, and decisions.

Therefore, one who does not make mistakes is not human.

It is humans who make mistakes. Animals do not make mistakes. If an animal makes a mistake, then it is sick. In a person, this is his normal state because he is constantly developing. His evolution takes place throughout his entire life, whereas for animals this is not the case.

Questions about Spiritual Work—6

219.01Question: We want to bestow, but how can we avoid egoistic intentions in the group since they prevent us from revealing the glory of the Creator?

Answer: Just continue. Forcibly continue to move toward the connection between each other and demand that the Creator reveals Himself between you.

Question: How does a person feel the governance of the Creator in oneself? Where is the person in this action?

Answer: He feels it as a meeting with the most needed, kindest, desired friend. And you will feel that now the Creator is controlling you.

Question: Did the Creator create the evil inclination so that a person would manage it? How does this affect all worlds?

Answer: To the extent that you evoke the manifestation of the Creator, you fill all the worlds with it.

For the Glory of the Kingdom of the Creator

239It is as we say (In the Eighteen in the Supplementary Prayer of Rosh Hashanah), “Our Father, our King, reveal the glory of Your kingdom upon us,” namely that the kingdom of heaven will not be to us as dust, but rather glorified.

It follows that what this kind of people demands of the Creator is that He will reveal to them the glory of His kingship, and have nothing with the Creator since they do not require any reward from the Creator. Rather, all they want is to serve the King and please Him. They ask that the Creator will show them the glory of the kingdom of heaven (Rabash, Article No. 34 (1985), “And I Pleaded with the Lord”).

Question: If people want only to serve the Creator, why do they demand that He reveal the glory of His kingdom to them?

Answer: It is exactly so that they could serve Him. If the Creator is concealed, we will not be able either come closer to Him or serve Him in any way. He will look small or non-existant in our eyes.

Therefore, we need Him to reveal Himself at least a little. To this extent, we will be able to serve Him.
This is why we say, “Reveal the glory of Your kingdom upon us so that we can honor You and serve You.”

Question: How can He reveal His glory?

Answer: It is His business how to do it. We ask because we cannot do it without it. If He does not reveal Himself, we will not have the strength either to bestow to Him or to receive from Him.

Receiving from Him is even more difficult than bestowing because when I receive, I use my egoistic desires. I have to correct them and use them only for bestowal. Then my reception will be for the sake of bestowal, and this is very hard work. We are always tempted to fall into receiving for ourselves.

Question: If we do not want to receive from the Creator and make the restriction on reception, then what are we holding on to? What is the criterion of the connection with Him?

Answer: We hold on to the fact that we want to give Him contentment. At the same time, we enjoy His greatness and not the actual fulfillment from Him.

Question: What is the difference?

Answer: Our egoistic desires to receive seek to enjoy the fulfillment. But to enjoy His greatness is when we feel His greatness in all the worlds, in the whole world, and enjoy it; that is, we enjoy the fact that we belong to Him.
