The Land of Israel and Its Similarity to the Structure of the Upper World

746.01The geographic area of Israel corresponds to the structure of the upper world, the world of Atzilut. Mount Hermon in the north of the country is Keter (the crown), from where all the upper light descends and spreads downward. Similarly, streams of water descend from Hermon and the Golan Heights, which revive and nourish the land of Israel.

These streams pass through Galilee, which is a purely Kabbalistic part of the country where Kabbalists lived and The Book of Zohar was written. The cave where The Book of Zohar was written, special places, graves, Mount Meron, and the ancient Kabbalistic city of Safed are also there. These places are very strong in their influence on man.

If Hermon is Keter, then Galilee, from where the waters descend into the Sea of Galilee, is Hochma descending to Bina. The entire area extending to the Kinneret personifies Hochma, which in Hebrew means “wisdom.” Indeed, it was there that Kabbalistic wisdom was being revealed for hundreds of years.

And Lake Kinneret [the Sea of Galilee] is Bina—the property of mercy, the property of water, the property that brings life to everything, and therefore, this lake is special. There is Miriam’s well in it. Miriam is a great prophetess, the sister of Moses.

As Chaim Vital writes, one day his teacher, the great Kabbalist, the Ari, took him to Lake Kinneret. When their boat sailed up to the well gushing from inside the lake, the Ari gave him a drink of this water, and Chaim Vital suddenly began to understand everything—the upper world opened up to him.

It is interesting that when you look at the water of the lake from above, you see how the Jordan River flows in the middle of it. Moreover, the water of the river flows in its own channel, not at all mixing with the water of the lake. The water of the Kinneret and the water of the Jordan River symbolize two different qualities. Indeed, the Jordan River descends from the upper mountains, passes through Bina, and flows further, just as the light of Hochma passes through Bina and descends.

Inside a Black Hole

260.01Question: Black holes are known to absorb everything within their gravitational field. Using the most powerful Hubble telescope, astronomers discovered a black hole that has become a mother and given birth to several stars. They describe how black holes give birth to stars. A black hole sucks gas clouds into itself, gas clouds heat up to certain temperatures, connect with plasma streams, and become nurseries for future stars.

In which case does a black hole give birth to a star?

Answer: When there is a clear transition from darkness to light. That is, when it can no longer pull in, but must push out. There must be some pulsation law at work here.

Question: Can this be applied to our world, which everyone seems to compare to a black hole? They say that our world is like a black hole. We live by consuming, exclusively by consuming.

Answer: We ourselves are inside a black hole.

Question: We are inside a black hole ourselves. In what case can we give birth to something like light or stars?

Answer: It is only possible with different qualities, not the ones we have now.

Question: Meaning, there are properties of a black hole in us? We resemble it, right?

Answer: Yes, we resemble a black hole. We absorb everything into ourselves.

Question: In what case can we not absorb, but give?

Answer: To do this, we must change our nature from taking to giving.

Question: That is, like a star born out of a black hole, can we give birth to something like light if we transform ourselves? How do we transform and give birth?

Answer: First, we need to realize that black holes are the basis of all nature. This is a massive force of ego, which pulls everything into itself, sucks it in. And then? We need to understand how we can break out of this black hole.

Question: Would it be painful to realize we are a black hole? Will it be bad for us? Why would we want to break out of this?

Answer: Yes, because the black hole only consumes it therefore cannot develop. It only pulls everything into itself; it has no future.

Question: So it turns out black holes are inside us?

Answer: Black holes are inside us. These are huge egoistic voids that we would like to fill, but we cannot and will not be able to.

Question: And that is what we have to come to?

Answer: When we discover these black holes, that our egoism is a pure black hole, the source and origin of all other black holes at all levels of the world, nature, then we may ask the question: “How can we correct it, complement it, and turn it around somehow?”

Question: Will this mean we are getting ready to give birth?

Answer: Yes, this is the act of birth.

Question: So humanity will conceive in order to give birth?

Answer: It is already happening gradually.

Question: What will we give birth to? In terms of relationships or states, what will we give birth to? What do you call birth?

Answer: I call birth an inverse change from wanting to receive to wanting to give. I realize this way is flawed, so I try to change myself.

Question: And this very attempt is what brings results?

Answer: Of course. Nothing in nature is above human reason, above human desire.

Question: So, we have to want it, is this the point?

Answer: Yes, this is sufficient.

Based on Harmony with Nature

715Coming closer to each other and the property of our commonality will give us the opportunity to connect with nature and see that we can use its laws in a completely different way. This will be a completely new discovery for us.

The sciences will be based not on man’s opposition to nature, but on the interaction with it, on harmony. This is a different mind, different desires, different thoughts, and completely different discoveries.

Modern science and current technology will completely step aside. They are in crisis because they are a manifestation of our egoism. We treat nature egoistically and from this, we create our sciences.

When we are in harmony with it, we will reveal it completely differently. We will not have physics, chemistry, geology, and astrology separately, but there will be one science about nature, which is called Kabbalah. Then we will be able to do great things, something that our ancestors, who were not yet so far removed from nature, partially were able to do.

The Cosmos Is a Brain!

746.01Astronomy and astrology are sciences that reflect the inner forces of nature. I take these sciences seriously, even astrology, but only if it is real and not an amateur one. In ancient times, very smart people were engaged in it. Back then a person was closer to nature, he relied on it.

Today we have simply distanced ourselves from nature, we do not feel its inner forces, yet for our ancestors, these were very significant signs through which they felt various forces. After all, when you work with some material, you start to feel it.

Talk today with a scientist-astronomer who lives, as they say, among the stars.

He will tell you that they are thoughts, they are desires, they are some kind of internal actions, and each star has its own character. He will talk about them and about the entire universe as something alive, claiming: “The cosmos is just a brain!”

Question: Do astronomy and astrology have some kind of spiritual root?

Answer: Of course! They are a reflection of upper forces at our level.

We live in one single dimension. All the worlds are in it, but we feel only the smallest part of them, the vaguest manifestation of them, which we call our world. That is why Kabbalists call our world Olam HaMedume—the world that we imagine, because we feel it, being as if in an unconscious state, in oblivion.

We Don’t Need Sorcerers Anymore

531.03In the News (Smithsonian Magazine): Officials have moved one step closer to pardoning the nearly 4,000 people accused of witchcraft in Scotland between the 16th and 18th centuries …

“Witch hunts swept across much of Europe between roughly 1450 and 1750. Fear of the devil, social unrest and mass hysteria contributed to the frenzy of accusations and trials, which often arose from local disputes and typically targeted unmarried or widowed women, per the National Galleries of Scotland. …

“Scottish officials regularly used such torture methods as sleep deprivation, physical punishment and public humiliation to extract confessions.

“Overall, researchers estimate that two-thirds of individuals charged with witchcraft in Scotland were executed for their so-called crimes. The majority of the condemned were strangled before being burned at the stake; some victims were hanged, beheaded or burned alive.”

Question: Is all this necessary?

Answer: There is no need for this, not in any way. Today this will only cause an even bigger surge in the search for witches.

Question: What is the correct attitude to all this?

Answer: It would be to open people’s eyes to what it was and to the fact that it cannot happen again, now. We had to go through all this.

Question: And the attitude to today’s witchcraft, twisting sticks, and so on, what should it be?

Answer: There is no right attitude to anything at all in the world! Not to religions, these wands, or spells, or the search for something with twigs. There are thousands of everything.

Question: What is the right attitude to this? Practically the world stands on these superstitions and rumors.

Answer: Yes, the world is always looking, seeking. Because the world is based on the fact that it knows nothing about itself. What is it for, why, where to? How are we managed? Who is in charge, what forces? Nobody knows.

Question: Is it poking back and forth because it is in the dark?

Answer: Yes, it is trying to find support, but there is none.

The world must reveal the purpose, the methodology, and the system of our existence. In fact, why are we? What is happening to us? How can we lift ourselves above this everyday philistinism? Still, to look at this world from above, somehow to orient yourself in it after all. Not to run after some superstitions and, in general, the antics of all sorts of crooks and witches.

Question: What exactly should it reveal?

Answer: The methodology of managing our world. Our world is governed by absolute goodness. We are in a quality opposite to this good. Therefore, we must somehow correct ourselves in order to see this good, to see this goal. And then we can transform our world correctly.

Question: What is good?

Answer: Good is the absolute mutual assistance of everyone to everyone.

Light Changes Human Nature

237Question: When studying Kabbalah, a person’s outlook changes. Maybe for someone it looks like pure psychology that a person adjusts himself to the influence of some force that changes him, but in fact he becomes completely different. Is that how his psychology works or, as you say, does the light change him?

Answer: It is the light! Only light!

Psychology works in our world when a person replaces one desire with another, one object of pleasure with another, and makes selfish calculations: what is better, what is worse, where will he be beaten less, where can he snatch more, and so on.

Thinking about how to get out of depression and rising above your mood, how to realize your inner natural data, how to behave with other people in order to make it better—these are purely egoistic tricks.

And light changes the very nature of man. Therefore, psychology cannot help here. It brings a person to this, helps him realize all his problems, and then he must work in a group, with light, in order to change himself.

Question: But how does it happen? What mechanism changes in a person? Where does that portion of light drip that either changes the soul or something else?

Answer: Light affects egoistic intentions that are built on the same principle as altruistic, spiritual ones, only in reverse order.

After all, before there was only a system of bestowal, and then its shattering created the opposite system—receiving. Both systems are opposite to each other, and a person must choose under which one to be influenced.

Dead Sea—Absence of Life

703.04The Dead Sea represents the absence of life, because Malchut, unfortunately, is still dead and cannot do anything. But when we really reach the connection of Malchut and Bina, then the earth will be filled with the upper moisture.

Question: Will the sick have nowhere to be treated and have mud baths?

Answer: Why? The Qumran heights and everything that is around the Dead Sea have always existed, it is just that the sea was 10-15 meters higher. But still it was always salty.

It almost never had life, although there is life there. We simply do not distinguish it and do not see it. It is yet to be discovered.

The Dead Sea is in the desert. The desert is not just a place where, as it seems to us, there is nothing but sand and small dunes. The desert can have vegetation, wildlife, rocks, mountains, and springs.

Exactly such a desert surrounds the Dead Sea. Previously, there were tigers, lions, leopards, and now there are only a few of them left, but they still live there. In this desert there are springs of water and very interesting caves.

Thousands of years ago, for many years, the oppositionists of the Jerusalem authorities fled there. There, in the fortress of Mossad, the Jews hid from the Romans.

Many great Kabbalists who were looking for how the correction would continue after the destruction of the Temple lived in those places.

Perhaps this place is “dead” because it was least affected by the shattering, which was mainly concentrated in Jerusalem and passed over the rest of Israel.

Where there was no life, there can be practically no destruction. Therefore, although a special force is felt here, this force is dead.

Periods of Development of the Earth and Humanity

712.03Question: What is the meaning of the period of our existence on Earth as if being in a dream?

Answer: This stage is similar to those periods that nature has gone through in the development of the Earth. It all began with periods of geological development when there were no plants or animals and only inanimate matter was developing. For millions of years, the Earth gradually exploded and cooled, exploded and cooled.

Baal HaSulam writes that such periods alternated every 30 million years, when the Earth ignited like a fireball and then cooled, and again ignited for 30 million years—lava and hot streams rose from below, the earth’s crust exploded again and cooled again.

This continued until the conditions for the development of life appeared. This stage lasted several billion years.

And then, for millions of years, vegetative life was born. Then for hundreds of thousands of years animal life, and then man.

Naturally, all these periods successively shortened, as they passed along the axis of the natural logarithm. From about the period of 2.67 such a reduction in time began to occur.

The same correspondence between the first (inanimate), the second (vegetative), the third (animate), and the fourth (human) development exists in any segment. If we take any of them, it will be similar to the general one, as in a holographic picture.

Now we are at the stage of only preliminary awareness of the evil of our nature. But we see to what extent time becomes more compressed, how it is being more and more compressed from year to year.

I think that over the next few years we will come close to the need for a singular transition—a leap in our understanding, awareness, sensation, and in the internal restructuring of each of us and all of us together, in the need to make an internal revolution and feel, see, and realize where we really are.

Then we will reveal a different world, which will be revealed to us as eternal, perfect, and infinite. After all, when a new vision of the world is revealed to you, everything is rebuilt in you.

Imagine that from this moment onward you begin to feel that you exist eternally, endlessly and to what extent your attitude toward yourself, toward the world, toward life, toward people, toward everything would change. We cannot not imagine it, but such a restructuring of consciousness will take place and change everyone.

The Force that Determines the Form of the World

509Spiritual movement means a new change of form. We should still explain the meaning of time and movement that we come across in almost every word in this wisdom.

Indeed, you should know that spiritual movement is not like tangible movement from place to place. Rather, it refers to a new form. We denominate every new form by the title “movement.” exactly like a corporeal being that some part departed from it and moves about from place to place. Hence, the new form is called “movement” (Baal HaSulam, The Study of the Ten Sefirot, “Inner Observation,” Chapter 9, Item 33).

We are talking about the force that determines the form of the existing world. It changes all the time, and therefore, the world is changing and so are we in this world. But it is almost impossible to explain how this happens since the very essence of the existing matter is changing, not physically but spiritually.

In spiritual matter, desires change as the basis of its existence. The meaning and the purpose of the matter is changing, and thus we feel only the consequence of this.

Kabbalistic Geography

746.02Question: There is an area in Kabbalah called Kabbalistic geography. What is it?

Answer: Kabbalistic geography is not only the geo-science of the Earth and the consequences that the upper forces cause on Earth. It includes the study of our world, our universe, as a mold from the next, upper world. After all, from that degree, forces descend into our world that determine all corporeal parts: inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human levels and their interaction with each other.

Moreover, a huge number of forces are occupied by inanimate nature: an infinite number of stars, galaxies, planets, nebulae, and other celestial bodies. But, despite the quantity of these forces, their quality is scanty in comparison with the vegetative and animate nature that exists on Earth, and even more so with the level of “Human.”

That is, as more qualitative forces appear in our world from the spiritual world, their quantity in our world decreases accordingly, but their quality increases.

If we go further in this quantitative and qualitative influence and the similarity of the upper world to our world, then we can say that all the countries of the world, all the imprints on the surface of the Earth, are Kabbalistic geography, that is, they are the result of the influence of upper forces on our Earth, on its surface.

Everything that determines ecology, geography, topography on the Earth, and not only on it, but also underground to its center, everything that surrounds our Earth, all this is a consequence of these upper forces.

But the most interesting thing is that it relates to a person. Therefore, in Kabbalah, we study more about the connection between the Earth, its geography (climate and all kinds of geographical features) and those peoples who live on it, and from generation to generation moved by various means: either wars, or the discovery of lands, and so on.

As a result, the most interesting thing is, of course, the development of the people of Israel, since this ancient Babylonian group, practically a part of all humanity, carries the method of correcting it, raising it back to the upper level, from where all the forces that form our universe descend.
