Liberation

Dr. Michael LaitmanThere are two approaches to life. The first approach is to devote most of our attention to this world, getting as much pleasure out of it as possible. This is why humanity conquers space and explores the depths of an atom. All this is work with the matter.

But the wisdom of Kabbalah says that instead of flying to distant stars we need to delve into the depth of a human being. The world is uncovered within us, we see the world within ourselves. A person perceives the reality with his consciousness and therefore, by changing it he changes the reality.

Reality is a reflection of our inner qualities. By correcting our inner qualities, we begin to see the spiritual world. And by returning to our original egoistic characteristics, we see this world.

That is why even in relation to the Torah there are two approaches. There are those who observe the commandments of the Torah only in their actions, thinking that the Torah describes external observance. And that is why such Torah is called external, because it is observed only through physical actions and words. But there are people called Kabbalists who believe that following the Torah is an internal action, carried out by changing human nature.

By working in the group according to the method of Kabbalah and attracting the Light that Reforms, a person begins to fulfill the Torah and the commandments not only with hands, legs, and words, but through the desire that is corrected with the help of the Light and divided into 613 parts. And this why it is said, “the opinion of the Torah is opposite to the opinion of the masses.”

The external approach is also associated with the study of nature by regular sciences, the aspiration to explore the depths of the inanimate, vegetative, and animate levels, and to transform the world by changing nature and governments externally.

In contrast, the wisdom of Kabbalah says that if the world is the result of our perception, then it is necessary to correct only our perception, our inner qualities. Only in this manner can we change the world, humanity, man, and all of reality to such an extent that we will begin to experience the world as eternal, perfect, and limitless.

For this reason the opinion of the masses differs from that of the Torah, and there is nothing that can be done about this, it is not possible to bring them together. Little by little the upper Light operates on humanity, advancing it toward the need to acknowledge the truth and realize that all of reality exists within. There is nothing outside of us, everything is perceived within our awareness.

The passage from the general world-view, accepted by all humanity that perceives the world as external to them, to the world as a product of perception within human awareness, is called liberation. The eyes of the masses will open and they will begin to approach the truth.

Then the wisdom of Kabbalah will be revealed not only to specific individuals, but to all, and it will explain to all of humanity its mission and the purpose of man in this reality.

Everyone will realize that our world is not this planet Earth, where we are destined to be born and die, but that it is a small stop-over station, a starting point, from which we have to begin to develop further.

The Code Of The Torah

Laitman_137Question: If the code of the Torah is similar to a computer code, shouldn’t there be some device where it could be compiled and run? How do we activate this code?

Answer: We don’t activate it. This code is already operating. It has its own internal mechanism, the Light, that drives it. The question is how can we adapt to this action so that it will manage us. To do this, we must become Kabbalists.

The wisdom of Kabbalah explains that there is a code before us, a flowing river of information. If a person wants to enter it and swim along with it, he must prepare himself, enter it carefully, and then gradually swim to the center of the river and find himself within the eternal flow.

New Life 819 – Jewish Culture: The Mezuzah

New Life 819 – Jewish Culture: The Mezuzah
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Yael Leshed-Harel

Why are we commanded to put a Mezuzah on our doorpost? What is the special protection that it provides and what is the purpose of keeping Mitzvot (the commandments) in our life?

Jewish customs, the Mitzvot, are in a structure of a branch and root. They are only the signs of the upper spiritual roots. Abraham broke the statues of the idols in order to show the Babylonians that there are no corporeal means that can protect a person. All the Jewish customs are meant to remind us to be in contact with the upper force through love of others.

The Spiritual Roots Of Planets

laitman_746_02Question: What are the spiritual roots of the sun, moon, and Earth?

Answer: The moon is part of the Earth that must be outside of it to balance it. The wisdom of Kabbalah describes the nature of the planets and how the phases of the moon and the sun are related to us.

The Earth is between the moon and the sun, and if there were no moon, life on Earth would be impossible. We need this satellite, even science says so. From a Kabbalistic point of view, the sun corresponds to the Sefira of Keter, the moon corresponds to the Sefira of Bina, and the Earth corresponds to the Sefira of Malchut. The result is a triad: Keter, Bina, and Malchut.

Question: Is it possible to say that its own spiritual force operates on each planet and that it is specifically the spiritual root and not the astronomical body that influences people?

Answer: That is without a doubt! That is absolutely right!

The Path Of The Soul And Corporeal Life

Laitman_725.jpgQuestion: The path of the soul is the opposite of what we do in our world. A problem arises: the values of our world seem to be depreciating, but we must live and we must solve problems precisely according to the principles of our world. It is very difficult to switch. What would you suggest?

Answer: As you study Kabbalah, you will see that everything that exists in our world helps us and directs us toward attainment of the higher spiritual goal, so that you, while still in this world, will discover the upper world, the soul, and will begin to feel you exist in an eternal and perfect space.

Therefore, I advise you to continue, despite any problems. And most importantly, if you want to advance, you should be with us in our daily Kabbalah lessons at least one of the three hours of the lesson. It doesn’t necessarily have to be in real time; you can study the lessons from the recordings. These lessons give a person the same amount of higher energy that is necessary for the development of the soul from that point of asking about the meaning of life.

Life In A Hologram

laitman_739In the News (Phys.org): “A UK, Canadian and Italian study has provided what researchers believe is the first observational evidence that our universe could be a vast and complex hologram. …

“The researchers, from the University of Southampton (UK), University of Waterloo (Canada), Perimeter Institute (Canada), INFN, Lecce (Italy) and the University of Salento (Italy), have published findings in the journal Physical Review Letters.

“A holographic universe, an idea first suggested in the 1990s, is one where all the information that makes up our 3-D ‘reality’ (plus time) is contained in a 2-D surface on its boundaries. …

“Professor Skenderis comments: “Holography is a huge leap forward in the way we think about the structure and creation of the universe. Einstein’s theory of general relativity explains almost everything large scale in the universe very well, but starts to unravel when examining its origins and mechanisms at quantum level. Scientists have been working for decades to combine Einstein’s theory of gravity and quantum theory. Some believe the concept of a holographic universe has the potential to reconcile the two. I hope our research takes us another step towards this.”

“The scientists now hope their study will open the door to further our understanding of the early universe and explain how space and time emerged.”

My Comment: The wisdom of Kabbalah speaks a lot about this, but it suggests that one should be involved with the study of man, not the study of nature, to expand the possibilities of our perception, our inner characteristics, so then we will see that the picture of the world that appears before us depends completely on our inner characteristics.

As we shape the world ourselves, we limit it, and as such we also see the world. If we expand this picture by changing our characteristics, we will see the world differently, in other dimensions.

Question: Which is to say, to do this, people must change? And scientists believe it is necessary to explore nature.

Answer: The examination of nature is a very limited approach to the subject. It doesn’t yield anything. We have no benefit from this except satisfying our curiosity.

A person needs to develop and change himself. He can and must expand his internal sensory perception, emotions, desires, and thoughts so much so that he will see worlds that exist outside of him, but he will discover them when he discovers himself.

For example, a little child differs from an adult in that he perceives a small, narrow part of the world, even though he basically sees exactly what the adult sees. The question is what does it mean to “see”? The entire difference lies in this. We don’t see the inner connections of nature, we don’t see the true world but only our lowest level.

It is only when person opens the next levels of absorption, knowledge, emotion, and impressions within himself that the next level of creation that exists around us will be revealed to him.

At present, we are in a period and state in which we can understand that our movement in the direction proposed by scientists is erroneous.

We must turn inward, into ourselves, and expand our senses. But because this is connected to the ego, against our nature, we don’t want this. We sell our perceptive abilities in exchange for petty egoism.

Prophets – Spiritual Futurists

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Who were the prophets?

Answer: A prophet is a spiritual seer of the future (a futurist). People who discovered the steps for elevating a person from his beastly state to the most divine state and described how one must rise in the spiritual levels were called prophets.

They never predicted what would happen in matter. For example, The Book of Zohar was written in a cave 2,000 years ago. But it has nothing to do with the cave or that time.

What is written in it is that in our time we must attain a state of spiritual ascent; it doesn’t speak about what will happen on the face of the Earth. That did not interest the prophets because from the point of view of the wisdom of Kabbalah, matter does not exist. This is essentially something that is given to us only in our subjective feelings.

Comment: In his book, “The Last Generation,” Baal HaSulam wrote about the possibility of third and fourth world wars.

My Response: He didn’t talk about the soul in the book, but about how humanity will get a push for correcting the soul through all kinds of potential problems in our world if people don’t begin to advance correctly. But this is not a prediction!

What he talks about is that there are two scientific ways for the development of nature. This was said even 6,000 years ago. In principle, all of the developmental phases have been described in the wisdom of Kabbalah from the days of Adam, and then later by Abraham in his Book of Creation (Sefer Yetzira). Since then, everything is happening. There is nothing new here because the laws of nature are constant and are being realized before our eyes.

Politics, Economics, And Kabbalah

laitman_265Question from Facebook: You talk a lot about politics and economics, how is this relevant to the study of the wisdom of Kabbalah?

Answer: Kabbalah doesn’t investigate or teach politics or economics. It studies the inner essence of man—his egoism. And all that is derived from it, everything that we do with the help of egoism, that is, our entire world, is its consequence.

Therefore, the wisdom of Kabbalah has something to say about it. It understands the origin of human development in economics, politics, his mutual relationships, in the family, in the nation, in society, and in every situation because they are based on egoism.

If you want to know the truth about economics and politics, study Kabbalah!
