Question: Why haven’t Kabbalists written a manual for life so that every person will be able to use it?

Answer: If this book were about how to make a profit and to gain something, people would read it, but the book would be about how to give up, to bestow. So whom would you offer it to? If I had something to interest ordinary people with, I would have done it a long time ago. All the leading TV channels would have invited me for interviews, “He has a recipe for comprehensive infinite pleasure!” But here, on the contrary, there is a psychological barrier: We have to transcend our nature and move on to the next level, and then we will receive pleasure.

So how can I raise myself above the “threshold of the strangulation” of death? People think that they reach the next world, which means the spiritual world after the body dies. I really don’t understand why the body stands in their way, but this is how they see things: that the body is buried in the ground and the soul rises “upwards.” How can I imagine a state that I kill my ego? It says, “He who wants to live should kill himself.” Only then can I really start living. But how can I fulfill that? How can I explain this to people?

Here we offer the remedy before the illness. First we inform people that they are ill, which means that we act like the Creator who reveals the crisis in humanity. Today everyone feels troubles to a certain extent, so what is the diagnosis? Our ego is ill.

But this is not enough, a specialist has to come and speak to the patient so that he will listen, because if people don’t listen, then the illness will keep on developing until the pain will sharpen their hearing.

On the whole, humanity has to hear what’s important: The whole problem is the wrong mutual connection among people. It’s for this reason that they don’t know how to live correctly in the integral world, how to educate their kids, and how to establish the right relations. They have to realize that the whole problem is our ego. Later we will be able to carry on this conversation and explain how people should connect by integral education.

Then people will finally understand what’s going on; they will understand why they are being driven “crazy” by every possible means, why they are required to work 14 hours a day so that they have no time to think about anything. Children are intentionally educated the way they are at school, the TV channels broadcast series of murder and rape and this is all in order to turn a person into a zero, to turn him into an “animal” so that he will not be able to find a solution for his life.

Question: Why don’t Kabbalists have a campaign against the ego, just like the campaign against smoking? Why don’t they write a book about how to prevent the “egoistic fever”?

Answer: Kabbalists don’t have the same authority and the same power that doctors have; Baal HaSulam already tried to warn people but no one listened. As for “effective campaigns,” they also have an egoistic motive. The cigarette manufacturers may be losing money but another group is making a profit from that, for example, food manufacturers who produce unhealthy food. They profit when people don’t smoke and don’t die early from cancer so that they buy their products for many more years. These products make people ill, and at the same time make the medicine companies richer. The main thing is to keep people in a “corral” like animals, in the framework of modern life that doesn’t allow them to think too much about what’s important.

Everything comes down to the profit that someone makes from the consumerist society. Thus all this could go on infinitely if it weren’t for nature’s plan. We would remain slaves who consume what they are being “fed” by supermarkets and the media, without choice. But the Creator has other plans, so we are approaching the collapse of the current capitalistic trend.

Baal HaSulam, “Speech for the Completion of The Zohar“: Thus, even though the Creator has delivered the land from the hands of the nations and has given it to us, we have not yet received it. We are not enjoying it. But with this giving, the Creator has given us an opportunity for redemption, to be purified and sanctified and assume the work of God in Torah and Mitzvot Lishma.

Question: Humanity is entering a new era of evolution when the desires are changing and people are beginning to look for meaning in life, does that happen in Israel too?

Answer: It is hard to say. In the Torah it says that the Jews are a “stubborn nation.” This nation does not develop like the other nations. Today according to external factors, you cannot say that it is bothered by the lack of meaning in life. But it is actually the other way around: It is indifferent to current problems that relate to our security, health, and the economic situation. There is a lot of talking but no real involvement. As long as this continues, so will the indifference and the imperviousness grow. If two years ago we could bring hundreds of thousands of people out to the streets to demonstrate during the social protest events, we cannot do that today, not even if things get worse.

Question: So why did Baal HaSulam say that the current era is our chance for redemption?

Answer: It says in Jeremiah 12, “It is a time of trouble for Jacob and from it he will be redeemed.” Even in the worst situation, when the door is totally sealed, it suddenly opens. But for that to happen there has to be enough pressure, which for the time being does not exist. It is a sign that the fruit is not ripe yet and still needs time to ripen.

Here everything depends on us. On the whole, the nation is never ready for an ascent until Moses, who will pull (from the same root in Hebrew) the nation upwards, is ready. Even the troubles and the blows called the “plagues of Egypt” are not felt by the Israeli nation, but those who feel them are Pharaoh and the Egyptian people. It isn’t by chance that it says that the Creator has passed over the doors of Israel. The plague of the death of the firstborn came upon Egypt but did not touch them.

This was all meant so that hearts of Israel will grow even tougher. As a result a person doesn’t feel any troubles although things are not going so well, but it is much more difficult for others.

It is a very big problem, and we mustn’t wait until things in the world and in Israel get worse. It doesn’t go along with nature’s plan at all and doesn’t stem from love of others. We need to do our best, using all the means we have to publicize the method of correction and at least the message that it is now time for the correction of the world. If people don’t feel any need for that, then they should at least know about it, like students who graduate from school and only have a general idea of what they have learned. Later, this idea will become an essential foundation for them.

Baal HaSulam, “The Peace”: Anyone can see how a large society such as the state of Russia… second to none in wealth in raw materials…and practically abolished private property altogether, where each worries only about the wellbeing of society…instead of rising and exceeding the achievements of the capitalist countries, they have sunk even lower… that all this precious and exalted work, namely bestowal upon others, which they have begun to perform, needs to be for the Creator and not for humanity…

Question: What is the addition of “for the Creator” that they were lacking?

Answer: It is not enough to work for the sake of the society so that it will be rich, beautiful, and good. It is not enough to evoke people to be beautiful and strong so that they can take pride in their achievements before the whole world. Even that didn’t help, although it is very important for the Russians, and they have an innate need to prove to everyone that they are the best. On the whole it exists in every nation, but especially in the Russian nation.

Oppression didn’t help either: hunger, terror, and murders designed to force the people to work for the society where a person didn’t see any profit in his pocket and that he didn’t bring home more than others. One worked hard and exerted himself and another didn’t work so hard, but they both received the same wages. So where can a person get the “fuel” to work harder? No means of oppression will help and not even national pride. What haven’t they tried during the decades of the Soviet Union? It all led to nothing in the end.

If I don’t focus my efforts on bestowal upon the Creator, and get the “fuel” to work against the ego, I have no other sources. Even if I fear that I may be killed, I cannot work without reason. I am basically a “machine” that needs fuel, a filling. Let me be paid for my exertion, or at least given food and a place to sleep, like a salve. But to give up my ego of my own free will? A creature like me cannot do that “by definition.”

But the Soviet leaders believed that it was possible, they didn’t understand Marx who put things simply: In order to achieve such an ascent, there has to be an advanced developed society that has reached technological progress in other fields. If such a society practices what we call “integral education,” then a few people who are connected to the initial idea by their point in the heart can lead everyone else. There is no other way but that. At least some of the people have to aim at “for the Creator.”

But the communists had nothing in common and nothing to do with this, and so they couldn’t hold on to the direction they decided on, despite all their natural treasures…

Today the trend that has accompanied us throughout the ages of our development is coming to an end. The ego forced us to climb down from the trees and to start human evolution. We have been through many phases and many forms of life: slavery, fictitious freedom, the Middle Ages, and capitalism. We have constantly worked in order to make a profit, to succeed, and to advance. But today our “partnership” with the ego is coming to an end.

There are several reasons for that and one of them is that the ego itself doesn’t feel satisfied any more. We receive all the goodness, but it doesn’t fulfill us. Even the wealthy increasingly feel they are as if left with nothing, since filling without the deficiency for it brings no pleasure.

On the whole, the elite treat the world as their own property and build a “whole world” for themselves. Through the media, they confuse us, convincing us we should work from morning to night, follow new fashion trends, buy products and services, and then work again. There is constant confusion, wars, and riots like the “Arab spring.” Why? So they can quietly dominate the world and make billions in profits for themselves. This is a never-ending job of governments and other channels controlled by a small handful of people.

However, they already are beginning to feel that they are losing control. According to the laws of egoistic evolution, the world in its current form is coming to an end, facing a global crisis. No one wanted this including the elites who are interested in maintaining and indefinitely continuing the consumerist society. But this doesn’t work.

Now we have to decide where we are headed. So on the one hand, Marx’s books are being reopened, and on the other hand, the wisdom of Kabbalah is revealed.

Today there are talks about a different use of the desire to receive. The next phase is building a united society in which people work about an hour a week because we don’t need everything that we are currently producing. Today unity is the essential model for human society. Without it we will not even be able to receive our daily bread. If we don’t connect, we will not have the basic necessities. But humanity doesn’t know how to connect, although this is what it is required to do. As a result, when faced with a seemingly impossible task, it is going toward annihilation, seeing no way out.

This is exactly where we take the wisdom of Kabbalah out of its hiding place and “wave” it on the background of Marx’s Das Kapital, hoping that we will be heard.

Question: What proof can we bring?

Answer: We have two ways to prove this:

• There is rational proof, as it says, “It is the wise who sees the future.” We can convince people that our approach is true and efficient basing it on examples, without waiting for greater trouble.
• Or, instead, the proof can come in the form of disasters.

On our part, we try to reach people before the blows do, but it isn’t easy. We don’t control the media. The elite have built an army of economists and financial experts and other experts whose goal is to confuse people and to cultivate the great lie. This is all so that the people who are at the top of the pyramid will be able to rule. Rule what? Today, even they don’t know exactly. It is not under their control at all…

Question: Our main instrument is our inner changes that we go through and our desire to reveal the Creator to others. How can we convey this from our Kabbalistic group into the integral education we conduct for the masses?

Answer: By no means can we do this since the masses don’t have an internal desire for the Creator, they don’t need it. For example, at the Arava Convention, we saw antelopes. If you had a desire to talk about them, I would gladly discuss their beauty and grace with you. However, you don’t have this desire, so I don’t work on it.

If you have no desire that stems from within, from your genes, hormones, and Reshimot, if you don’t have even the slightest aspiration for the upper, spiritual world, I shouldn’t be talking with you about it because I will never get any response from you.

Question: But don’t we go to the 99% wishing to reveal the Creator to them instead of just improving their material life?

Answer: This is wrong! A person is a set of desires. If one lacks the spiritual level of desire, meaning this kind of desire still sits very deep inside and is not yet revealed, then I shouldn’t try to wake it up. I won’t talk with this person about the Creator at all. All I want is to make him connect with others.

Being inside of this material egoistic union, he will eventually sense that it works well: “It’s good that we are together!” Then, he will start sensing that being “together” is great in general, irrespective of the material profit he gets out of it. It will become clear to him that this “togetherness” has a certain flavor, which all of a sudden starts fulfilling him.

You should constantly send a message to the masses about connection and unity; they will get it through you. Without you, they won’t be able to do a thing. You should work as transmitters of the Light from the Creator through the group to the masses. You are valuable to them since you have the group, and inside it, you can receive power and channel it to AHP, meaning to this mass.

Baal HaSulam, “A Speech for the Completion of the Zohar”: Moreover, there is no redemption of the body without redemption of the soul. And as long as the majority of the people are captive in the foreign cultures of the nations and are incapable of Israel’s religion and culture, the bodies, too, will be captive under the alien forces. In this respect, the land is still in the hands of foreigners.

Unless we all, meaning the Jewish nation, correct ourselves, which is only possible by the wisdom of Kabbalah, our existence in this land will only be temporary and unsafe. Besides, we will not be able to influence and to help the rest of the world from here and bring the clear and correct message about the desirable correction of the world.

We shouldn’t expect any changes for the better in the economy, politics, in the relations between people, in the family, in culture, in education, in anything if we don’t fulfill the correction that we have to bring about and do not raise the souls. First we have to correct the souls and this will lead to the correction of the body. This list of priorities should be clear to us.

So we have to leave all the fictitious dealings and deal only in the dissemination of the wisdom of Kabbalah. Without it we will not succeed in anything.

Today everyone fears the economic threat, but there will also be a security threat and other threats. In any case, only the dissemination of the wisdom of Kabbalah can help us since the soul is corrected by it and this leads to the correction of the body.

People don’t understand and don’t perceive this by themselves, but we have to know this. So there is nothing more important than the dissemination of the wisdom of Kabbalah in ways that are acceptable and are suitable for the different sectors in the nation. It can be the wisdom of Kabbalah itself or its “applications” in education, economics, perhaps politics, and of course socially.

There is nothing else we can deal with but the dissemination of the method of the correction of man. In fact there is no need to correct the external expressions like society, the economy, and not even the education system but namely man. This is the message; this is the internality of our approach.

No one thinks about this; no one wants it or understands it, but we have to insist and to explain this principle in every way possible. We have to bring it to people’s knowledge that without man’s inner correction we will not be able to correct anything since all the other systems can function correctly only if a “corrected man” operates them. How can I operate a new economy or a new education system, if not by a new man?

Baal HaSulam, “A Speech for the Completion of The Zohar”: But in our generation we have been rewarded with the Sulam (Ladder) commentary, which is a complete interpretation of all the words of The Zohar. Moreover, not only does it not leave an unclear matter in the whole of The Zohar without interpreting it, but the clarifications are based on a straightforward analysis, which any student can understand.

Of course, this is not referring to the “man on the street” opening The Book of Zohar and the Sulam Commentary and immediately understanding them. The Book of Zohar is written from a level of the final correction; this happened only once in history, in Rashbi’s group. Other Kabbalists did not have the opportunity to attain this level of revelation, and only about ten percent of them could somewhat understand what is said in the book.

The dissimilarity between the steps of attainment is comparable to the disparity between the vegetative and animate levels of nature, or between a dog and a human being, or between the “linear” or “round” world; in other words, it’s a difference between the prior world that lives in compliance with simple egoistic laws and a new world that currently starts to emerge and acts in accordance with the laws of unity. Previously, individualists succeeded, and now only those who are able to unite will prosper.

And yet, even though the world has already started to self-correct and aspire to the end of correction, it still happens in a linear manner; it doesn’t’ matter that the “line” includes various steps, screens, and levels of unity of its own, it isn’t yet the unity, the integral system, that will be achieved at the final correction. At that stage, the picture will be quite different and I cannot imagine it.

Today, we think about the relationship and mutual interests of “one man with one heart,” meaning about the unity of Israel, the Torah and the Creator, but what will result there, I don’t know. As we are approaching a truly integrated system of the end of correction, which differs from what Kabbalists attained throughout the past millenniums by our uniting with each other, we are beginning to understand that there are laws that are beyond the spiritual laws.

It’s not simply a channel of connection, not a “line” or a “width” of a desire that is covered by a screen and shielded by the reflected light, nor is it the lights of NRNHY or Sefirot KHBZON. At that stage, new forms of connection will emerge. Possibly, for example everybody would be able to use the screens of others.

One way or the other, we are talking about a qualitative leap that is yet totally unclear to us. So, we should at least be aware of this gap, this difference.

In this world, everybody is an egoist, but at this stage of our development we are all facing the condition of global unity. If we could see the real picture in which we are inseparably interconnected and linked together, it would be very clear that each of us is unable to do anything at all until we establish correct relationships with others. But who has the appropriate intellect and feeling? Who has the nerves to handle it? Who is able to grasp all the details and tolerate inevitable tension?

Eventually, each of us stays in his own “corner” without having any energy to act. If I depend on thousands of other people, my current world outlook would simply deprive me of any hope; I would remain motionless. The world would stop moving, freezing in immobility. This explains why each new state shows up in us progressively and gradually forces us to self-correct, so that we avoid hitting a deadlock.

So it is in spirituality, we advance in the spiritual world through screens and collaboration, like the Kabbalists of the past. However, at the end of correction, a totally different state will be awaiting us. On the way, we expand the integrated system we gradually gain, but today, it still does not commit us to a complete interdependence, which will arise as a result.. This is the level, from which The Book of Zohar was written, from the level of the end of correction.

Therefore, if Baal HaSulam was given a chance to create commentaries on this book, it means that he reached the same level as Rashbi. Moreover, I would say even more than that, because he was able to adapt the commentary to those who are beginning the path from the level of this world, not yet embarking on the spiritual ladder, not even close to the end of correction. Nevertheless, these people are still sensitive to the impact of a “round” system, even though it’s presented to them in its material form.

Baal HaSulam speaks of the necessity to disseminate the wisdom of Kabbalah to all. It means that our connection with this world has already created a connection with the “circles” through the material “circles” of the global world and through the higher spiritual circles that are a part to our path to correction. This is why we are allowed to reveal the Kabbalistic method to everybody, and the works that were written from the highest level.

Thus, except for the books of Baal HaSulam, we don’t have anything to disseminate. There are no other materials that are suitable for our generation, which is on the beginning of the road that leads to the final correction. “The circles” that belong to that level are already active and shine on all of us and onto the entire world.

Baal HaSulam says that, in fact, the Jewish people have not received the land of Israel even though they live in it. The problem is that the Israeli nation is not fulfilling its designation. By having returned to our homeland and having gathered here again, the nation has to adjust itself to a new era, to the vessels that are revealed today, but it isn’t doing this.

On the whole, the state of Israel was founded on a miserable ideal, as the “refuge” for Jews all over the world. But do we feel good when we run to a shelter as we are under missile attack?

Of course, I am not against the state of Israel. When there are missiles outside, the shelter saves us. But the Israeli nation has to live here in order to fulfill its mission, and instead it wants the unattainable: to be like everyone else, not to “aspire” for anything, but simply be a “normal country.”

Question: So how can we explain all this to people?

Answer: One thing is clear: You can’t dictate the meaning of life to them, shame them, or “teach them the right way.” It won’t work. No one can bear such a heavy load being dumped on him. After all, a person needs a clear benefit. Where is the carrot the donkey can follow? Moreover, it needs to be such a carrot that there will be no need for the stick from behind.

When troubles are on our doorstep, it’s enough to entice a person a little and he immediately begins to move from his place. In the darkness of suffering, everyone will run to the light that filtering through a small window. But how can we lead the people forward without troubles and sufferings? Now they are sitting at their homes, strolling in the street, and everything is just fine. This means that we can only speak about the laws of nature with them, about being balanced with nature, and not more than that. But these explanations also seem abstract, since people don’t feel the crisis yet and so they are not ready to listen.

Question: What is the best way to present the material on integral education: connecting it with Kabbalah or not?

Answer: It is better to disseminate integral education and upbringing without Kabbalah.

To date, we have enough material on Kabbalah in the general global virtual network in all languages. And if a person develops a point in the heart, he will always find this place. An external field will bring him, and he will “bite” this hook.

If a person does not have a point in the heart, then we literally need to “feed him with a spoon” to convey what integral education is and what it gives to humanity. Here, we give him what interests him, not about the soul, but because he feels bad in life: failures, crises. It is another treatment, another message.

Thus, we should be more concerned about those people who are in crisis, not those who are looking for Kabbalah. They will find it themselves.

Question: How do you help a friend for whom dissemination has become more important than work in the group and this state has a negative impact on the group?

Answer: First of all he needs to understand that his connection with his friends is what leads him into the upper world. If he cannot be tied to them, then he is simply avoiding the spiritual work of spiritual connection.

I understand that you always want to get away from it and just disseminate because there you feel like you are big and great, etc. But you cannot escape the connection in the group and you need to try with all your might to be with your friends, even if they really seem to be the wrong kind of friends!

The thing is that you see them to the degree of your uncorrected state, so quit justifying both yourself and them, and don’t do anything; just work for the connection. Don’t pay attention to their faults, as if this were one sided, as if you don’t see them; you need to work for the connection!
