Question: Jerusalem is a special city, revered throughout the world. How did it happen that it is considered holy by all the three major religions: Judaism, Islam, and Christianity?

Answer: Kabbalah is not related to religion. For thousands of years it was hidden, but once it lived among the people of Israel, instead of today’s Judaism, as the method of revealing the Creator in this world. Kabbalah allows a person to reveal the Creator, not just to believe in what he had been taught since childhood, not knowing what the upper force is.

Everyone imagines the Creator to the best of his imagination, but the wisdom of Kabbalah does not speak about this blind faith. Kabbalah is the method of revealing the upper force in this world.

This revelation is called “faith” in Kabbalah because faith is bestowal and love of others as of oneself. Due to the human aspiration to get out of oneself and bestow instead of receiving egoistically, one comes closer to the upper force that is good and does good. Then this force is revealed to him.

Everyone should come to this revelation—as it is written, “All shall know Me from the smallest to the greatest among them”—the followers of the three religions and the whole of humanity. This is the program of creation, which we will realize, whether we want to or not.

Meanwhile, we are developing by the path of evolution, and as the wisdom of Kabbalah is hidden, the three religions are preparing humanity to the revelation of the Creator. This preparation happens in the negative form because it reveals the emptiness and helplessness of ordinary faith, lies and lack of understanding, and lack of fulfillment.

In today’s world, religions are mainly used for the separation and division of people. Every religion has many trends within that do not accept each other. The wisdom of Kabbalah is waiting when we discover the emptiness of religion.

Therefore, today’s Jerusalem, which is a holy city for the three world religions, is not a real Jerusalem. Jerusalem (Yerushalayim) represents the “perfect city” (Ira Slemah), in which we all achieve perfection in the relationships between us, complementary to each other.

Connecting with each other, we fulfill the condition under which the Creator is revealed between us according to the law of equivalence of form. If despite all the differences in our religions, faiths, beliefs, and human qualities, we, nevertheless achieve equality and unity, agreeing to ascend above all the differences and cover them all with love, by this we fulfill the condition of the revelation of the Creator within us.

This will be the true Jerusalem.

Question: This life of survival, where one eats the other, apparently pleases us. Is it possible to correct this situation? After all it only continues to become worse all the time.

Answer: The situation is truly becoming worse and worse because we are advancing. All of humanity is developing within its ego that burns more and more in the next moment. So we are locked around the Earth, completely linked with each other, but on the other hand we are divided by our great egoism.

We see how distant we are from each other. People are no longer able to get along and live in the same home. Children run away from home and couples divorce. We are not able  to talk directly with each other anymore, only through the mobile telephone or emails. It is good that we still have these means of communication; otherwise we would not communicate with each other at all.

Kabbalah explains how it is up to us to correct our nature if we want to continue our existence. Otherwise, we will become completely separated. Correction is possible only through the force of the Light that Reforms, the positive force of nature. The problem is that we live in the world and discover only the negative force of egoism. This egoistic force operates everywhere.

Even if I do something good for others, it is only on condition that I will also get some kind of benefit myself. Otherwise I cannot do any good selfless deed . This means that in every case my intention is to profit at the expense of others.

We are able to make any truly good deeds without self-interest. Such a good force without self-interest exists in nature, but it is concealed from us. We need to awaken it, and then we can balance these two forces: the force of egoism and the force of good. The Book of Zohar and the entire Torah speak only about this: how it is up to us to balance our nature and attain harmony. And then between us we reveal the higher power of nature called the Creator.

Firstly, when Jacob’s family first went to live in Egypt, his was a family of 70 people. Everything the Torah tells us about takes place only on the spiritual levels, and all the calculations are realized in the intensity of the bestowal that is felt among people who yearn for connection. This is their only yearning, desire, and action.

Abraham took thousands of his followers from Babylon in his time, but 70 or tens of thousands are different levels of measuring. Tens of thousands refers to the number of people, while 70 refers to their spiritual intensity. Israel is a big system (Partzuf), while Jacob is a small structure that contains seven Sefirot from Malchut to Hesed. Seven Sefirot that are multiplied by ten levels in each Sefira add up to 70 parts.

Secondly, according to the Torah, 600,000 men left Egypt. These numbers indicate that the Israeli nation naturally multiplied, and Jacob’s small family became a nation of millions of souls. There is nothing unnatural about this since Egypt is the egoism. When I am in huge egoism, all the desires in me naturally grow and swell and expand as a result of the environment I am in.

When the nation of Israel first entered Egypt, it was small, but full of Light. The attribute of love and bestowal was among them, and a person was among them despite his will. During the first seven years of satiety, it was normal, but, during the seven years of hunger that followed, the Egyptians enter me and begin to trouble me internally, forcing me to yearn for their ideals. I look at them and see how attractive they are, how they begin to live inside me, how I absorb them and cannot get rid of them.

However, the struggle between the Egyptians and the Israelis in me invoke the feeling of the slavery in Egypt. Up until now, I haven’t defined my state in Egypt as slavery because I wasn’t under the spiritual domination of the Egyptians and everything was normal. Now, however, I begin to discover to what extent they affect me, and therefore I must do something about it. I reach a state in which it is better to die in the Red Sea or in the desert than to live in Egypt. Spiritual death is better than living in complete rejection of the Creator.

Question: But why do I enter Egypt with a force of 70 people and come out of there with a force of 600,000 men with 3 million women, elderly, and children behind them?

Answer: This is what I could egoistically absorb from the Egyptians. Although I resisted them, they still entered me, and I absorbed different desires, yearnings, attributes, and goals from them. Then I corrected them inside me, which means that I grew in a spiritual sense and saw that I cannot remain among the Egyptians anymore otherwise I would be buried under them. These desires want me to remain in them, so I can thus influence the world.

It is the work in Egypt that the Jews gave the world in the last two thousand years. Basically, we shouldn’t have engaged in it, and this is the reason that these actions are called exile. This isn’t the reason that we were given such talents, and no one is benefitting from them. Therefore, humanity doesn’t take our corporeal contribution to the development of the world into account. They are expecting something else from us. We must come out of Egypt, which is the embodiment of the entire world, and isolate ourselves spiritually, attain an inner unity among us, and then correct Egypt and the entire world.

Question: How could it have been that precisely in Israel, which was to become a home for all the Jews of the world, that such a despicable attitude has emerged about the Ethiopian emigrants only because of the black color of their skin? What must be done to become a united people?

Answer: Israel is divided today into factions that oppose each other: The left and the right, Ashkenazi and Sephardic, Ethiopians and Russians, and more and more. A small people, constantly forced to defend itself against external enemies surrounding it from all sides cannot even establish peace for itself.

We cannot succeed in attaining unity if we don’t call for help from the force that can unite us. Each successive government has committed to strengthen the unity of the people and establish peace and consent in our society. However, it is not in the power of anyone to keep his promise, and this is not at all the role of the government.

For unity, we need to know how to awaken the unique force, the Light that Reforms, so that it will correct the relationships between us, the evil in us. Only then can we connect and become one united people. But if we don’t do this, we can expect very difficult times ahead.

So, we are conducting discussion-circles throughout the country: in recreational areas, in promenades, and in parks. During the process of such discussions, a feeling of special unity appears. That is how we show an example of how to awaken the higher power that is concealed in nature and oblige it to influence us.

Already in the first circle, people gathered who met by chance, and relationships appeared among them where they began to rise above their problems and integrate together in a common unified field. Totally different people can sit in a circle: Ashkenazi, Sephardic, Ethiopians, Arabs, and foreign tourists. It doesn’t matter. This method works and influences everyone.

The entire world is in terrible need of unity, for without it, everything falls apart. So throughout the world, anti-Semitism is growing, and the nations of the world blame the Jews for harming the world. This will continue to grow from day to day. Actually we are not the cause of evil, but the blame is ours because we are not bringing the good force to the world which will balance all of the evil.

Victory over the fascists was a great victory in a great war that many nations were dragged into. It must be said that, for the Jews, the day of victory is a special date because on that date a period of annihilation, torture, and oppression of our people ended.

With victory in the Second World War, a new stage of changes in the world opened in which the victorious nations annexed areas for themselves in accordance with the laws of our world.

At the same time, a special event occurred. Everyone understood that it was also necessary to note the Jewish people as the ones most harmed by genocide. This was used as a reason for the creation of the state of Israel. Certainly, further internal conditions that were created here contributed: political systems that were prepared from the start, massive immigration of Jews, war over territory, and so forth.

Through a United Nations (at that time League of Nations) resolution, the State of Israel was established as a result of the recognition of the suffering of the Jewish people by the world. So the holiday of May 9^th is a kind of prelude to the birth of the state of Israel.

We must pay due respect to Russia, which helped save part of the Jewish people, for, in spite of the appearance of anti-Semitism in it before the war, during the war and after it ended, this was the place to which a large number of Jews fled from fascism and western Europe.

Today many perceive the date May 9^th as a political holiday. However, if we move ourselves away from politics, it is worthwhile to recognize that this is truly a unique holiday. We hope that we will remember this date only as the end of a terrible war and that we will try to make sure that this will not be repeated. It is in our power.

What I mean is that it is specifically the power of the Jewish people and the power of the Russian speakers in Israel. If we succeed in understanding how to act among us, without connection to external forces, nations and governments, then we will neutralize all the terrible forces in the world. We won’t require arms if we arrange for the right communications with each other and come closer between us. Then, all of the peoples and nations will relate to us favorably.

We must attain unity, and then we will bring peace to all of humanity.

In the News (from mnenia.zahav.ru): “After hearing this advice on a television program on the first Russian channel, the writer Yuri Mowaor-Muradov responded: ‘When I heard this call 25 years ago, I did that and emigrated to my Israel….’

“I relate with understanding to the Jews who have remained there for all kinds of considerations, because of an emotional attachment to the state, because of a cultural affinity with it, for economic and ideological reasons…I have a completely different complaint against them.

“For decades we have heard this sanctified phrase, ‘Go back to Israel!’ from the mouths of the ‘native’ residents of greater Russia, incorrigible drunks and the educated, externally normative people, the poor and the rich, dandies from the capital city and the residents of remote places. And I want to tell the Jews who are living in Russia that after all they must have a response to this call. This should be a normative answer and not just a fist in the face of the anti-Semites, which is also a legitimate response to this situation.

“I am talking about an appropriate response on the verbal level. This is because going out of the studio and slamming the door hard is not an answer. This is more acceptable as a powerless response for someone who has no answer to the ‘hot’ advice that hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of Russians are ready to subscribe.

“Even I, from my wonderful distance, see that the Jewish question appears as a background in every argument in Russia, political or economic, in the subject of social order, when talking about democracy, ethics, ecology, and, as we see now, even in a discussion about a seemingly completely cosmopolitan subject like the protection of our little brothers.

“Why have the Jews come to such unexpected public opposition like this? I don’t know what his answer or that of other Jews in Russia could have been. But I know that if they still remain in a country where such a great mass of people are wondering why they don’t move on and leave for ‘their Israel,’ then they should have come up with a response for a long time already. And ultimately recall that generations of our ancestors are buried in the soil of that nation. I don’t know, I am now writing all of this impromptu, yet it is possible to prepare our thoroughly thought out and considered speech for the next time.

“It is up to you to make this speech at least once, don’t slam the door, don’t make yourselves wretched and insulted; this is forgivable in someone else, but for you, writers, journalists, actors and scientists, this is unforgivable. Give an overwhelming response without entering into a verbal conflict with an idiot. Use a microphone and camera that broadcasts throughout the country, and finally give a prepared and convincing speech that will later be quoted for decades in reaction to situations like these.

“But now, the statement, ‘Yarmolnik, go back to Israel’ was said, and indeed what did he do, he got up and left, and this is encompassing and extends throughout the entire Russian-speaking world.”

My Comment: In spite of all it all, I see the advice to go back to Israel as completely correct, legitimate, and natural from a Russian regarding a Jew. We can look for excuses in a modern world where everyone is mixed up and lost…but this isn’t so. In any place that there is a massive relocation from one place to another, conflicts are created, sometimes decades or even hundreds of years later!

There is a special bond among all people within themselves and a special rejection between people. As much as it may seem that in our time everything is ready for complete mixing, the differences between peoples still manifest and require correction.

Kabbalah says there are 70 nations in the world and the people of Israel. As much as they are becoming mixed together artificially, this mixture is external, and there will be a need to correct it with an inner unity. It will appear in our world as a single, integral and global world, which is what we are seeing in our day. And therefore we, the Jews, have received the opportunity to reveal the method of unification, the wisdom of Kabbalah, through our return to Israel, later bringing that to the nations of the world. So I see that the advice to go back to Israel has its place and time.

Question: Why did such a progressive country like Germany, where Jews lived, begin to destroy them?

Answer: Germany was the National Socialist state, and, as a rule, the formation, which was based on socialist principles, was replaced by fascism. Today, the same thing can be said of northern Europe.

In the Nordic countries, the socialist principle of distribution of the national product dominates, and therefore they now are attracted to Nazism. In general, there is nothing surprising in this. It is a natural path of development.

Germany came to fascism naturally. Hitler was elected by a majority of the people. This is the way history leads us.

Today, we are in a crucial point of our development. Either we will go again on the same path and repeat the same mistakes, or we will understand that we must achieve unification in our integral world.

That is why we are given the method of Kabbalah. We must make the date May 9^th the last in the history of war, so that it never happens again.

Question: Do the portions of the Light that come each day of the Omer Count correct each person or only those who study Kabbalah?

Answer: The Light corrects anyone who wants to come from hatred to love. People think that Kabbalah deals with some spirits or mystical powers.

Indeed, Kabbalah studies the hidden forces of nature, but the point is to correct the human being from hatred of others to love of others, which is the purpose of our life.

Such a correction is possible only by the power of the Torah, as it is said: “I created the evil inclination and the Torah for its correction, because the Light in it Reforms.”

The Torah is not a book but the general Light, a special force, which corrects our nature and transforms it from evil to good. We are still in the period of exile, that is, apart from the Torah. We do not have the Torah and the correct approach to this correcting force because we do not use that power and do not correct ourselves.

Therefore, the wisdom of Kabbalah is being revealed, which explains that we must eventually take the force hidden in the Torah and use it to transform us into one unified nation.

Question: Does this only apply only to religious people?

Answer: This applies not to religious or secular people but to one nation! We should become cleared of all previous definitions, which are far from the truth. If we want to be the people of Israel in the land of Israel, we must accept the Torah of the land of Israel, that is, the method of our unity.

We can become a people only if we correct hatred of others to love, within ourselves.

The Torah, “Numbers” 1:1 – 1:3: “The Lord spoke to Moses in the Sinai Desert, in the Tent of Meeting on the first day of the second month, in the second year after the exodus from the land of Egypt, saying: “Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by families following their fathers’ houses; a head count of every male according to the number of their names. From twenty years old and upwards, all who are fit to go out to the army in Israel, you shall count them by their legions you and Aaron.”

“The Lord spoke to Moses in the Sinai Desert,” means that we are starting to look at everything that happens through the state of Moses in us.

Question: What is the meaning of: “Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, by families following their fathers’ houses?”

Answer: It refers to the complete attainment of the structure of the soul on the current level. On the whole we are rebuilding the general soul that has been revealed to man and then was shattered. Its rebuilding has to be fulfilled according to certain phases. Every unit must have a concrete role and precise connections with the others.

How do we do that? The general soul is made of five parts: Keter, and four other parts which we mark by the letters “Yod-Hey-Vav-Hey.” The zero part (Keter) cannot be divided. It is like a point that everything stems from. Each of the following parts is divided into three lines: the right line, the left line, and the middle line. The three lines are multiplied by four thus creating the twelve tribes.

This is how the calculation of each tribe is done: Have we all reached the state of wandering in the desert? This means that we have done everything in our power, that we have assembled everything above the attribute of absolute bestowal, and therefore we have nothing. Each of us is no one and nothing; we are in the desert. It is actually on top of this assembly that we can examine the building of the general soul, which means the intensity of each part of the twelve. This is called “take the sum of all the congregation” (the calculation) and this stems from the twelve sons of Jacob.

We examine the general structure of the whole soul and especially the general assembly of people (which are actually not people but their yearning to the Creator), and to what extent each of them annuls his self, to what extent he is connected to others and how together they all create one unique and unified system.

But what is the intensity of this system? To what extent are the parts of Hochma, Bina, Hesed, Gevura, Tifferet, Netzach, Hod, Yesod, and Malchut properly connected and act in mutual harmony? This is how we examine the state of the general soul.

Each of the five parts of the Torah represents a totally new level in a person’s development or in the development of a group of people who want to fulfill the conditions of the Torah in order to rise to the level of the Creator.

The Torah is like a spiritual elevator that raises our properties to a new level. Those who enter it and shut the doors are ready to work on themselves against their ego. They go through five egoistic phases, which are increasingly greater in their intensity and Aviut (thickness) because egoism is crafty.

While studying each of the five parts of the Torah, the ego grows not only in quantity, but also in quality. This is a very difficult and complicated process. But at the same time, a person grows wiser and begins to understand his egoistic nature. Moreover, it penetrates the connections between all parts of nature, just as one enters a certain organization and discovers how people are connected to one another, the organization’s policies, and the ties of mutual connections between different departments etc.

In spiritual work, however, a person clarifies human nature and the nature of the soul. His advancement is on a higher level, gives greater penetration into the individual and the general connection of all the parts of the soul and all of the creation.

At the beginning, he perceives the general creation in a simple manner, like a small child. Then he is split, upgraded, and separated into parts so that by their connections and their division, a person penetrates more deeply into this system. He discovers new obstacles, new mutual connections, individual laws, etc., and so he studies and examines it from the beginning (Genesis) to the end.

He grows in the transition from one part of the Torah to another and can be told about the laws of creation and be held responsible for keeping them. There is an egoistic desire in a person to discover the Creator that occurs despite the unity with others. A certain formula has to work in it: I connect and unite with the others in order to discover the Creator in the connection between us because this is how I can fill Him with joy, just as He wants to fill me. It is in this state that I unite with Him.

When we begin to relate to our conditions correctly, different forces of help, support, and resistance appear in us. They are gradually revealed: first on the zero level of desire and then on levels one, two, three, and four, a total of five levels. There are the five books of the Torah. In these phases we move from the first word in Genesis “Bereshit” – “In the beginning” to the last word “Israel.”
