The Brain Sets A Taboo Against Temptations

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from ScienceDaily): “Neuroscientists at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) and the University of California, San Diego, have successfully demonstrated a technique to enhance a form of self-control through a novel form of brain stimulation. …

“Study participants were asked to perform a simple behavioral task that required the braking/slowing of action — inhibition — in the brain. In each participant, the researchers first identified the specific location for this brake in the prefrontal region of the brain. Next, they increased activity in this brain region using stimulation with brief and imperceptible electrical charges. This led to increased braking — a form of enhanced self-control. …

“’There is a circuit in the brain for inhibiting or braking responses,’ said Nitin Tandon, M.D., the study’s senior author and associate professor in The Vivian L. Smith Department of Neurosurgery at the UTHealth Medical School. ‘We believe we are the first to show that we can enhance this braking system with brain stimulation.’

“A computer stimulated the prefrontal cortex exactly when braking was needed. This was done using electrodes implanted directly on the brain surface.

“When the test was repeated with stimulation of a brain region outside the prefrontal cortex, there was no effect on behavior, showing the effect to be specific to the prefrontal braking system.

“The method of electrical stimulation was novel in that it apparently enhanced prefrontal function, whereas other human brain stimulation studies mostly disrupt normal brain activity. This is the first published human study to enhance prefrontal lobe function using direct electrical stimulation, the researchers report.”

My Comment: Undoubtedly, we will find a number of negative consequences of such interference in freedom of choice. Although this may work at the level of selfish preferences, choices, but with respect to love and bestowal on others, instead of selfish gain, the brain will not work because it calculates the profit of desires. If they are egoistic (the heart), then the mind calculates what it is better for egoism. Thus, until a person transforms his desires from “to receive” into “to give” with the help of Surrounding Light, the brain will not be able to calculate anti-egoistic actions. That is, without Kabbalah, to turn egoism into altruism, we will not be able to obtain freedom of will, but will remain slaves of egoism, only within it, programming ourselves in preference to enjoying a meal or being slim.

The Whole Is Greater Than The Sum Of Its Parts

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from Wired): “Now, thanks to new observation technologies, powerful software, and statistical methods, the mechanics of collectives are being revealed. Indeed, enough physicists, biologists, and engineers have gotten involved that the science itself seems to be hitting a density-dependent shift. Without obvious leaders or an overarching plan, this collective of the collective-obsessed is finding that the rules that produce majestic cohesion out of local jostling turn up in everything from neurons to human beings. Behavior that seems impossibly complex can have disarmingly simple foundations. And the rules may explain everything from how cancer spreads to how the brain works and how armadas of robot-driven cars might someday navigate highways. The way individuals work together may actually be more important than the way they work alone. Aristotle first posited that the whole could be more than the sum of its parts.”

My Comment: The concept of the universality of any unity in which each ceases to feel himself but feels the collective whole is not new. Only it slips away from us who look at everything through our narrow egoism. Today, nature tells us the way to integrality because it is manifested so before us.

“The unification of pieces into a coherent whole creates a special power and property that does not exist in a simple sum of them because they are united above and overcoming their egoism.

What’s The Point …?

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from PressTV): “The childlessness rate among women nearing the end of their childbearing years in the United States is among the highest in the world, according to the latest World Fertility Report by the United Nations, which also shows that 41 percent of all US births occurred to unmarried women.

“Among 118 places for which comparable data is available, only six have rates of childlessness higher than the US rate of 19 percent, Pew Research Center noted Friday in its analysis of the World Fertility Report 2012.

“Women between the ages of 40 and 44 in the US have, on average, about 1.9 children in their lifetimes, which is one of the lowest levels of 171 countries analyzed, with just 19 places having an equal or lower lifetime fertility levels.

“However, US women fall squarely in the middle range when it comes to the age at which they first become mothers, which according to the UN is 25 years for US women.

“In the area of non-marital births, the US ranks 49th among 91 places with comparable data. The UN report shows that 41 percent of all US births occurred to unmarried women.

“Fertility has declined worldwide to unprecedented levels since the 1970s, the report noted. ‘Total fertility fell in all but six of the 186 countries or areas for which data are available for all three periods considered in the analysis. In the most recent period covered, 80 countries or areas had a total fertility below 2.1 children per woman, the level required to ensure the replacement of generations in low mortality populations.’ The Christian Post.”

My Comment: The problem is not in this crisis, but in the loss of orientation in life; it is not clear: “What do I live for?” And hence the question, “Why give birth, grow, work, and …?” As a consequence, and with the lack of an answer to these questions, consumption of antidepressants, drugs, and alcohol is continuously growing.

Thus, the low birth rate is just one of the consequences of the general crisis—the lack of understanding of the meaning of life. This question subconsciously sits in everyone’s mind, even if we do not feel or automatically cover it with various activities.

Dementia – Is The Plague Of The 21st Century

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from France24): “G8 health ministers met in London on Wednesday to tackle what experts warn is a dementia time-bomb, with cases set to soar as the world’s population ages.

“Ministers from the Group of Eight wealthy nations gathered for their first-ever conference on the incurable condition, which afflicts some 44 million people worldwide — most of them elderly.

“They hope that by forming a common front, the summit will prove the turning point in tackling the disease.

“Sufferers of dementia, of which Alzheimer’s disease is the most common form, often end up needing full-time care as it attacks their memory, reasoning and other brain functions.

“Alzheimer’s Disease International warned in a report last week that the number of sufferers is set to surge, trebling to 135 million by 2050, as life expectancy rises around the globe.

“Dealing with dementia cost the world an estimated $604 billion (440 billion Euros) in 2010, according to the World Health Organization.

“The European Union’s health commissioner Tonio Borg announced a 1.2 billion euro budget for health research in 2014-2015, including dementia and neurodegenerative diseases.

“Dementia causes mood changes and problems with reasoning and communication as well as memory loss.

“Most types grow progressively worse and cannot be cured. Medication and therapy are used to alleviate the symptoms. …

“’As life expectancy goes up, our generation has a unique challenge: will those extra years at the end of our lives be ones we can look forward to with anticipation — or will they be ones we end up dreading?’ British health minister Jeremy Hunt said.

“One in three of us will get dementia. And if we don’t do better, for one in three those later years could be years of agony, heartbreak and despair — not just for those of us with the condition, but for our families, friends and loved ones too.”

My Comment: Nature is a global, integrated, closed system, and if we wish to receive from it more than we are supposed for rational existence, we pay for it with something else. Only bringing ourselves to the integral form—with rational instead of greedy consumption and with good connections between each other—will bring the entire system of creation into balance and will eradicate the problem of all diseases.

How To Get Rid Of Unwanted People …

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from The Independent): Ireland is asking its citizens to leave the country if they can’t find a job in a desperate bid to slash welfare costs.

“The Irish government has sent letters to approximately 6,000 unemployed people suggesting they should take jobs in other European countries in an effort to reduce unemployment benefits, the Financial Times has reported. …

“Unemployment has eased in recent months, falling to its lowest level in four years in November at 12.5 per cent, but youth unemployment remains a problem.

“Overall, one in four Irish under 25 is still unemployed.

My Comment: Would the head of governments not consider destroying the population unnecessary for them?  And here is message about the vaccine to reduce the population of the Third World.

In the News (from Geopolitics and Geo-economics): Microsoft founder and one of the world’s wealthiest men Bill Gates projects an image of a benign philanthropist using his billions via his (tax exempt) Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to tackle diseases, solve food shortages in Africa and alleviate poverty. In a recent conference in California, Gates reveals a less public agenda of his philanthropy―population reduction, otherwise known as eugenics.

“Gates made his remarks to the invitation-only Long Beach, California TED2010 Conference, in a speech titled, “Innovating to Zero!.” Along with the scientifically absurd proposition of reducing manmade CO2 emissions worldwide to zero by 2050, approximately four and a half minutes into the talk, Gates declares, ‘First we got population. The world today has 6.8 billion people. That’s headed up to about 9 billion. Now if we do a really great job on new vaccines, health care, reproductive health services, we lower that by perhaps 10 or 15 percent.’

“In plain English, one of the most powerful men in the world states clearly that he expects vaccines to be used to reduce population growth. When Bill Gates speaks about vaccines, he speaks with authority. In January 2010 at the elite Davos World Economic Forum, Gates announced his foundation would give $10 billion (circa €7.5 billion) over the next decade to develop and deliver new vaccines to children in the developing world. …

“The pharmaceutical vaccine makers do not speak about the enormous health damage from infant vaccination including autism and numerous neuro-muscular deformities that have been traced back to the toxic adjuvants and preservatives used in most vaccines. …

“Monsanto, DuPont, Dow, Syngenta and other major GMO agribusiness giants are reported at the heart of AGRA, using it as a back-door to spread their patented GMO seeds across Africa under the deceptive label, ‘bio-technology,’ a euphemism for genetically engineered patented seeds. The person from the Gates Foundation responsible for its work with AGRA is Dr. Robert Horsch, a 25-year Monsanto GMO veteran who was on the team that developed Monsanto’s RoundUp Ready GMO technologies.  His job is reportedly to use Gates’ money to introduce GMO into Africa.”

My Comment: But it is possible to use a similar vaccination for the fellow citizens!

A New Type Of Boredom

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from The Independent): “There’s a lot more to being bored than you might think, if new research is to be believed.

“Science has known about four types of boredom for a while now, but a team of international scientists have now built on their research and discovered a fifth, “especially unpleasant” form of tedium.

“Dubbed ‘apathetic boredom,’ it elicits a feeling of learned helplessness similar to depression.

“According to the scientists, led by Dr Thomas Goetz of the University of Konstanz in Germany, boredom can be categorised by levels of arousal (ranging from ‘calm’ to ‘fidgety’), and how positive or negative boredom is experienced – its ‘valence.’

“Previously, it was thought that people could suffer from ‘indifferent boredom,’ in which people felt withdrawn but relaxed; ‘calibrating boredom,’ a feeling of uncertainty in which people are receptive to but do not seek out change; ‘searching boredom,’ which is restless and pursues distraction; and ‘reactant boredom,’ wherein people are motivated to leave their situation for a specific change.

“Goetz, his colleague Anne Frenzel, and a team of fellow researchers conducted two studies among 63 German university students and 80 German high school learners. …

“Apathetic boredom was reported in slightly more than a third of the high school students – a fact the researchers found ‘alarming.’”

My Comment: This is a transition period from the egoistic lifestyle, with its natural energy, search, and competition aimed at obtaining at the expense of others, to the altruistic lifestyle of society, with its energy, exploration, and competition aimed at bestowal unto society and getting the fulfillment of the whole society.

Antibiotics No Longer Work

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from Finmarket): “Alexander Fleming, the creator of penicillin, warned still in 1940 that the effect of his discovery would not last forever, that microbes would adapt to medications. The more available medications became, the faster microbes developed the ways to protect against them.

“Antibiotics are losing their properties so quickly that it becomes unprofitable for companies to develop them. Making one drug cost about a billion dollars, and these costs do not have time to pay off before the microbes adapt to them. Soon, minor infections will become fatal again.

“Without antibiotics people would not be able to treat cancer and to transplant organs because these procedures are not possible without suppressing the immune system. Any treatment which requires injecting drugs in the human body, for example, kidney dialysis, will become impossible.

“We will have to forget about implants. This also applies to cosmetic surgery and heart valve surgery. Childbirth will become as dangerous, as a hundred years ago, when five of a thousand pregnant women died.”

My Comment: The problem is food: the development of new varieties, processing plants, and raising meat with antibiotics. We get a huge amount of food with harmful substances together. Objections are usually limited to the notion that this is better than starvation. But if we had changed ourselves to a mutual caring attitude, then we would have distributed good correctly, and we would not have to grow plant and animal food with pesticides, antibiotics, etc.

“Children Of Rich Parents Suffering Increased Mental Health Problems”

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from The Telegraph): “The children of rich parents are put under so much pressure to succeed they are at an increased risk of suffering of mental illness, a study has claimed.

“Scientists found that children from homes with an annual income of more than £100,000 ($160,000 US) a year were suffering anxiety and depression at twice the normal rate of their less well-off peers.

“Researchers found issues such as eating disorders, drug abuse, neuroses and self harming were soaring among wealthy teenagers.

“It is thought the relentless pressure being piled on youngsters both at school and in extra-curricular activities is leading to increased feelings of vulnerability.”

My Comment: The reason for this is that they are being pressured by parents and competition among peers; they continue to live in full capitalism, while their poorer peers are in a more sociable environment.

The Problem Of Obesity In The US

Dr. Michael LaitmanIn the News (from RT): “By 2030, more than half of Americans could be obese, taxing the nation’s health while costing the country $500 billion in lost economic productivity. The food industry, however, is doing its best to keep the public hooked – no matter what the price.

“With one out of three adults clinically obese and 40 percent of children officially overweight, the US is the fattest country in the developed world. The burgeoning public health crisis will see instances of diabetes, heart disease, stroke and cancer skyrocket over the next two decades, taking an already strained healthcare system to breaking point.

“But with food manufacturers keen on keeping customers loyal while maximizing their profits, public health concerns are likely to be dwarfed by the bottom line.

“’What these food scientists have done is that they’ve gone to a lab and they’ve created these chemical concoctions that are very sweet, very fatty and very salty. And they call that the bliss point. Meaning they’ve created addictive foods that are going to get consumers hooked and they’re going to keep wanting to come back for more and more foods,’ Elizabeth Kucinich, of Physicians Committee For Responsible Medicine, told RT. …

“Kendrik said the reason why food in the US is both addictive and laden with fat, sugar and salt is simple.

“’In one word, I would say: greed. We obviously are putting money above public health,’ he said. ‘Just like with cigarettes, we want to keep people addicted. I equate it to what the cigarette industry did. They deliberately wanted to put things in that were addictive because that drives sales and will continue to drive generations of sales.’”

My Comment: All this is based on the usual egoism that turns everything into “help against you,” and any mechanisms, systems, and companies, created by man, turn against him, profiting from him, not by curing diseases, not by providing him with useful things, not by teaching him what is necessary, but on the contrary, by confusing him and profiting at his expense. But there is the end of egoistic development: It, like cancer, kills the body and itself dies with it.

So The Body And Soul Will Be Young

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What is the meaning of the “sensation of balance” between a person and society that comes as a result of integral education?

Answer: A person feels kindness, openness, support from everyone, inclusion into others, and feels everyone together rather than himself. He “comes out of himself,” from his problems, from his illnesses, and from his thoughts. This is most important especially in the elderly. He begins to feel like a child who becomes included in the surrounding environment as though he is floating in it. It is very important for him to be with others, to play with them, and to sense them.

If we bring people to such a state, then they will really not feel their age. They will be ready to literally give everything for this. After all, a person feels amazing lightness; he doesn’t feel the weight of his age. This makes him healthier and rejuvenates him.

Rejuvenation takes place when a person rises above his state so much that he becomes included in the collective. He no longer feels himself, but rather the commonality: all as one.
