Question: We understand the unification at the level of inanimate elements. For example, we combine hydrogen with oxygen and we get something else—water. And what should happen when people unite sensorially?

Answer: They will complement each other until they are united into a single system called “one soul” or “Adam.” In this state, they will fully accommodate the properties of the Creator.

Answer: Corporeal changes can only be a consequence of the spiritual. Through the spiritual, I can influence our earthly life both negatively and positively.

Question: Fate is the totality of all events and circumstances that are predetermined and primarily affect either a person or the entire nation. Do you agree with this definition?

Answer: No, I do not agree because you cannot just talk about fate as a combination of some circumstances. Fate is what happens to us in our sensations, in our life, in our conditions, and is a consequence of the influence of nature or the Creator (which are the same thing) on us and our interaction with it.

Question: There are three main characteristics of fate according to something I found on the Internet: totality, unknowability and independence from human will. Do you think this is true?

Answer: No. With regard to totality, I can say that there are private destinies and common destinies, and total destinies too. As for unknowability and independence, on the contrary, we can learn our destiny and manage it if, of course, we wish to, and apply a certain quantity and quality of efforts to this. That is, both cognizability and control can be in our hands. It depends on us.

Comment: If you look at the history and culture of different peoples, then in most cases fate is defined as negative, gloomy, meaningless, blind, and ruthless.

My Response: So we speak because we do not understand the essence and purpose of what is happening.

Comment: By the way, nothing good is written in the Jewish religion, in the Prophets either.

My Response: It depends on how you look and with respect to whom it is said. In principle, the fate of humanity depends on itself. Nothing can be said here about some kind of fatal predestination.

Baal HaSulam, “Letter 21“: And the most important is to pray extensively and strengthen the confidence that the Creator will help you succeed in meriting complete repentance, and to know how to adhere to Him in one connection for eternity. This is the most important, and this is what distinguishes one who serves the Creator from one who does not serve Him. “Do not rest, and give Him no rest” until He forgives all your sins and crimes and brings you close to Him forever and for all eternity.

By sins and crimes we mean that we forget the Creator, we do not remember Him, and do not attribute every moment in life to Him. These are our crimes and nothing else. He manages everything else, and “There is none else besides Him.”

I exist under His complete control except for one thing. I have the ability to connect myself to Him in a reciprocal connection. This is the only thing that does not come from Him. This is the only freewill I have. We will gradually discover more and more how everything is determined only from above except for: “There is none else besides Him,” “The Good that does good.”

All our so-called sins result from the shattering of the connection between us, which we can restore. Here we need to help each other by showing each other what can be done by creating a certain brotherhood so that everyone can feel how the friend thinks and cares about the goal and never leaves it.

Our role is to return to the thought that I am connected to the Creator at any given moment and that He determines everything that I receive in my mind and feelings. Everything that happens to me and those I come in contact with is all the ways the Creator appears before me.

“There is none else besides Him.” This is not just a force, because all manifestations and appearances of the friends, the group, the world, nature, and even me regarding myself are all His manifestations and revelations. We need to know, to understand and determine this clearly, and constantly strengthen in it.

Other than that, we need to multiply the prayer and strengthen the confidence that the Creator will in return grant us complete repentance. We will return to Him again and again until we acquire total adhesion with Him, which means connection in which we will feel that everything that happens inside us stems directly from Him. Then this whole world, which in itself is a partition between us and the Creator, will disappear, and melt away. Each of us will totally feel that there is only me and the Creator. But I will no longer be alone, but will be a huge group, the whole general soul.

Comment: Numerous experiments show how much a person who looks after plants influences them with his thoughts.

My Response: A person influences not only plants and animals with his thoughts, but even stones. We just cannot examine it yet.

There is such absolute interconnection and such absolute interaction between all parts of creation that if we saw this network of forces, we would find that only we humans are a negative, harmful element in this system of forces.

Neither inanimate, vegetative, or animate forms of matter have freewill, there is no egoism in them. They exist according to the laws that nature has embedded in them. Humans, however, thanks to their freewill and their egoism, become the only harmful parts of nature.

Question: Where is the freedom of will of a person here? Animals act on the basis of instincts and people according to the will to receive, to use others.

Answer: Freewill begins today when we become convinced that our previous path was flawed. At the same time, the desire for something higher is revealed in us, the desire to go beyond this world, to rise above it. This “higher” should reveal itself to us.

Kabbalah helps in this. This is the only way we can correct ourselves.

Question: Kabbalists write that the hearts of ministers and kings are in the hand of the Creator. What does this statement indicate? Do they really have no freedom of choice?

Answer: Leaders have partial freedom of choice, not 100% because the Creator manages other people through them.

And even though they don’t understand this, the Creator operates on them in this way. We will further learn how the Creator manages us through certain people who, in principle, are not people in high positions, but are puppets.

This is a separate system.

In fact, the simplest person has freedom of will. The higher a person is on the hierarchical ladder in a society, the less and less freewill he has.

The general law of nature is summed up by this; all of us are obligated now or in one of our next reincarnations to reveal the Creator, to attain Him, to unite and fully merge with Him.

This is the general law of nature and there is not a single small element in nature on the levels of the still, vegetative, animate, and human that will not advance toward this goal either unconsciously, instinctively, or consciously, like the Kabbalists.

Particular—that even before the perfection of the whole of humanity, this rule is implemented in a chosen few individuals in every generation.

No one should doubt that we will attain the highest level of development, the Creator. The attainment of this goal by everyone in our generation depends on us. This is the law of the general and particular.

Question: How is revelation of the Creator inevitable among the creatures if we talk about the existence of freedom of choice?

Answer: It is specifically freedom of choice that brings the creature to inevitably reveal the Creator. By using it correctly, a person begins to understand that his freedom lies in reaching the level of the Creator. Then he will be absolutely free. That is the entire paradox.

Question: There are great villains in the world like Hitler and Stalin. There is a feeling that there is an invincible force behind them as if it were the Creator, and then they lose this power. Why do things happen this way?

Answer: If a person is not led to connection with the Creator, he is simply managed by the upper force, especially such great negative people like Hitler and Stalin, or great positive people.

A person has no control over this. From the perspective of the wisdom of Kabbalah, all of humanity is enslaved, they are operated by animal egoism, except for those who reach contact with the Creator or who want to be aimed at this contact. So, we cannot demand anything from them. After all, they do not know how to act, how upper providence manages them, and why they are forced to do things one way or another.

Of course the evil they can inflict on the world must be limited, but we cannot condemn them for that. We need to show and explain to them how to correctly reveal the true force of nature that manages us so that we will reveal it.

We cannot relate to them differently. I understand that on the corporeal level you may hate them and might be ready to destroy them and cannot wish them anything good. But on the other hand, we need to understand that a person is enslaved and controlled by the forces that the Creator inserts into a person that operate in him. A person is the creation of the Creator.

Only if, in addition to the terrible attributes the Creator has given a person, one acquires the method of correcting these attributes, which means the ability to correct them, is it possible to ask and to demand from such a person: “What have you done with what you have received? Do you implement the method of correction? Do you use it correctly under the conditions you were given?”

But if a person has not been given the conditions to correct himself, how can you demand anything from him?

If we look at the world from the perspective of the wisdom of Kabbalah, we need to relate to this person differently. We need to see such people as the creation of the Creator. We all have the basic attributes that we did not choose. We did not choose where to be born, how to be brought up, etc. Perhaps I also would like to have been born and raised in a different family, in a different society, in a different country, at a different time.

No one can choose that, so why should anyone come to me with a complaint: “Why do you do things one way and not another?” I do it because this is how I was brought up and this is how the attributes that the Creator has given me developed, that is all.

This is the reason that the wisdom of Kabbalah guides us to a totally different perception of reality so that we will not have any complaints to anyone but to ourselves. Do you want to correct the world? Aim at the Creator and try, demand, ask, and act through Him to correct the world.

It turns out that there are two authorities here acting in the above-mentioned conduct of development: One is the authority of heaven, which is sure to turn anything harmful and evil to good and useful, but it will come in its time, in its own way, heavily, and after a long time. Then there is the authority of the earth. When the “evolving object” is a living, feeling being, it suffers horrendous torments and pains while under the “press of development” which carves its way ruthlessly.

The “authority of the earth,” however, consists of people who have taken this above-mentioned law of development under their own government and can free themselves entirely from the chains of time, and who greatly accelerate time, namely the completion of the ripeness and correction of the object, which is the end of its development. We have a starting Point A, from which humanity begins its way and moves in it toward the ultimate goal, Point B. The ultimate goal is the next situation, the upper world, the completion of correction.

If we take the power of development into our own hands and begin to act, this way will be much more pleasant.

As a rule we begin from a particular moment in our lives. We encounter the wisdom of Kabbalah, see how worthless our lives are, and begin to use this wisdom to reach the ultimate point of our development rapidly, which is absolutely identical for all of us, the difference is in how we reach it—either by the way of suffering or by the way of light.

In the way of suffering, terrible events are waiting for us, even a World War III really. In contrast, the path of light is the way of attainment, when from the start I begin to act to attain my future state, approach it, and eventually attain it.

Question: If I am going in the way of suffering, will I be able to reach point B? In any case at some stage I will need to reach the way of light, simply much later and still go through the same thing. Which is to say, is entry into the ultimate point possible only by the way of light?

Answer: You are right in general. The way of suffering elevates you in any case; you will go through a particular section of the way, after which you could fall again, rise again, and fall again, and so on until you reach the same ultimate point. There could be entries and exits. In principle it is not just dependent on you, but on the time in which we are living, the general condition of humanity and other circumstances.

Baal HaSulam, “Peace in the World”: Reality shows us that an individual cannot exist in isolation without a sufficient number of people around him to serve him and help him provide for his needs. Hence, man is inherently born to lead a social life. Each and every individual in society is like a wheel that is linked to several other wheels placed in a machine. This single wheel has no freedom of movement in and of itself but continues with the motion of the rest of the wheels in a certain direction to qualify the machine to perform its general function.

A huge, absolutely interconnected world was created around us. Nothing is free in it. Therefore, a person can never be free even if he suddenly finds himself at the end of the world with no one by his side. He will still be totally connected to other people.

He must understand that even in this state when he is seemingly physically disconnected from everyone, he is still connected to billions of people in the world through his inner wheels. We will soon discover that.

Wherever we are, it is desirable that we always feel or try to feel how absolutely connected we are to the whole of humanity.

There is no such thing as feeling totally free in the world. I think that if I lie on the sofa and turn on the TV or sit in front of my computer, I am by myself, I am free. I am not free! I am like a tiny particle that is connected to all of humanity no matter what.

If a person feels that at any given moment, he begins to receive certain signals. On one hand, it seems that by living this way, constantly thinking about everyone, we are overloading ourselves. Yet if I do that, I soon begin to feel how I mutually interact with them, how they affect me. And through them, I quickly find the connection with the Creator.
