Medium published my new article “Armenia-Azerbaijan Flare-Up — Reminder of Precarious Times”

Two years after the latest ceasefire between Armenia and Azerbaijan in their decades long conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, intense clashes suddenly erupted. According to reports, dozens of people have been killed in the renewed shelling. There is no apparent reason for the sudden flareup, but it is indicative of the precarious times we are entering, where people are sensitive, intolerant, uncompromising, and worst of all, combative.

We are facing a long and cold winter. The Russia-Ukraine war is still raging, and there is a severe shortage of gas. Its skyrocketing price is fueling the rising inflation, and staple foods are becoming unaffordable or altogether absent.

Additionally, new viruses or new strains of existing viruses are likely to appear, exacerbating the already heightened tensions. These explosive conditions are bound to ignite conflicts, which could lead to violent clashes like the one in Nagorno-Karabakh, or worse.

To remedy the situation, we must understand, as well as explain to others, that the only way to defuse the situation and reduce the tensions is to vigorously create a positive atmosphere among everyone. We must intentionally cultivate positive connections, since the negative connections are already in place, and the only way to balance them is to establish what is currently missing: positive connections. And if it feels unnatural (and unpleasant) to do so, it is only a proof that the negative connections are already in place and dominate our feelings.

We must remember that we can only make peace with an enemy, and only with an enemy do we need to make peace. It has to feel awkward, since befriending an enemy is the least natural thing to do. The natural thing to do is to fight against one’s enemy. But we have already seen where the natural way leads. I think it is time for us to venture down the unnatural, but surely more constructive and safer way — the way of peace.

We should not expect to agree with one another. The disagreements that have set us against each other will probably remain. Therefore, we should not try to settle our differences. We should, however, agree to disagree, and that from this starting point, we are building a relationship, not a conflict, but a relationship.

This approach will awaken a positive force between us, which will balance the currently prevailing negative force. This will allow us to see new ways of connecting, to find new closeness with people who until now were enemies.

We have tried war, we have tried boycotts, we have tried just about every negative option. It is time we tried to connect without imposing our views and without encroaching, but simply to bond for the sake of bonding.

Question: A 1.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred recently in Berlin during a performance by a British rock band. There is speculation that the people jumping and dancing at the concert caused the earthquake.

Can people jumping, dancing, and clapping cause earthquakes?

Answer: Of course not. But if we all want it at the same time, then maybe we will cause it.

Question: Without even jumping?

Answer: Without even jumping. And what does jumping have to do with it? If even seven or eight billion people jumped on the surface of the Earth now, nothing would happen.

But if in our desire to connect, we just sit and think together that our globe will help us a little and support us somehow, then it will work. If we want to, our thoughts can definitely do it. Common thoughts can stop an earthquake. There is nothing stronger than people’s thoughts if they think together.

Question: Does this require all of humanity to think about it?

Answer: At least some part of it, a serious part.

Question: Suppose there is an earthquake somewhere (many already occur). It happens spontaneously; no one knows how to stop it. You say that thought is the most powerful thing in the world. If we start thinking how to stop this earthquake and we all think about it, will it stop?

Answer: I am sure the answer is yes.

Question: So what are we dealing with?

Answer: We are dealing with the forces of nature. If we launch a force against the one that is currently acting, but one level higher (one level higher is still a person, a person’s mind, a person’s desire, etc.) and if people unite mentally and remove their egoism—the main thing is to be together and to unite in internal common movement in order to save the planet—then naturally it will have an effect.

Question: And earthquakes stop?

Answer: Please, let’s check.

Comment: To check this would require a general agreement.

My Response: So why do we have the UN, UNESCO, and other organizations?

Comment: Everything would exist precisely for this purpose, in order to unite humanity in thoughts about something.

My Response: With this method we could balance absolutely everything.

Comment: You say that all means of communication and all these organizations were created only for one thing: to unite humanity and direct it to some problem in order to eliminate it.

My Response: Yes. And as a result, while we never expected, never thought, and never could guess, we will discover a special meaning in connection. And it is thanks to our egoistic revelations.

Question: That is, egoistically I need to stop the earthquake. And is this a discovery?

Answer: Yes.

Question: You say that we think about it together and it stops. And is it the same with all the problems of the world? Including wars?

Answer: Absolutely everything. Of course.

Comment: It is an invisible power. They don’t see it.

My Response: But all the forces, the most special and the highest—they are invisible.

Comment: One should somehow believe in it. That’s the whole point.

My Response: We must not believe, but rather proceed toward it, and by gradually organizing ourselves and coming closer to making an impact on such a force, we will find that it really exists, and that connection works.

Question: Where is the line between destruction and education? Let’s say a person has some qualities that he uses to the detriment of others.

Answer: As long as people have all kinds of egoistic problems, they act in this way. What can we do?! People are like people. Do you think they have been changing for millennia? A person remains the same, only his egoism is slightly modified. Do they not want bread and circuses in our time as in ancient Rome? Nobody changes! Nobody.

Let’s say today we live in peace and friendship with everyone, everything is blooming; tomorrow the whole world will turn into a pack of dogs fighting with each other. In an instant there will be Mussolinis and Hitlers!

It will be natural, they will be supported by millions, if not billions. All this does not disappear anywhere in a person.

Sometimes the waves overlap one another, nothing more.

Now we are approaching the state when for the first time we will begin to seriously change and an inverse change of the world will begin, as it is said: “I saw the opposite world.”

Medium published my new article “Rising above the Differences”

Every international conflict that is currently unfolding proves the same point: Aggression does not pay. We have become so dependent on each other that there is simply no way to tip the balance in one place without tipping it throughout the system, namely worldwide. The coming years will prove two facts: 1) We cannot stand each other and do not care one bit for one another. 2) We cannot live without each other’s help. The collision between these contradictory facts will make us realize that we are like wheels in a machine. Each wheel turns in a different direction, but only when all the wheels turn in the direction they are supposed to turn, the machine works properly. If even one wheel changes its direction, the machine stops working.

When we realize this, we will understand that we have no choice but to turn the fight inwards. We will have to fight against our hatred of others, rather than fight against each other because of our mutual hatred.

We will have to realize that it is precisely the differences between us that enable us to get what we need from others rather than having to make them by ourselves. Progress, rising standard of living, improved health, nutrition, education, transportation, communication, professional opportunities, and every other benefit that modern civilization offers is built on different people with different skills and different fields of interest contributing their part to the global system that our world has become.

The difference between modern civilization and the ancient cavemen is rooted in increased cooperation and collaboration. If we were all the same and did the same thing, we would be more backward than our most ancient ancestors who had just come down from the trees and found a mate to live with in a cave and protect each other from predators.

We couldn’t stop the direction of evolution toward increasing cooperation even if we tried. Just as organisms evolve by increasing their dependence on each other and the complexity of their connections, humanity evolves through increasing connection, communication, and the complexity of our systems. The only reason that natural organisms are succeeding and human society is failing is that we resist the diversity and its benefits while nature embraces it.

If we were aware that only our excessive individualism and narcissism prevent us from reaping the benefits of diversity, perhaps we would stop fighting against other people, and began to fight against the element that pits us against each other: our own ego. I am convinced that simply realizing that our real enemy is not outside of us but within us will improve the world dramatically, and we will reap benefits that today, we cannot even imagine.

“Nearing the end, however, he began to stumble in 34C (93F) heat and was overtaken by an opponent.

“Seeing her son struggling, his mother ran out onto the track and helped him get over the finish line.

“But it was ruled that the interference would cost Burtsev a silver medal.”

Question: Maybe we should do the opposite? Maybe we should promote an athlete helping an athlete or a mom coming to her child’s aid, rather than who wins first place. What do you think?

Answer: Of course. In fact, sports have become unpleasant. There is no joy or lightness from it; there is no pleasure in it. It’s like war.

Question: Is this the feeling you get when you watch it?

Answer: I do not watch it.

Question: Is this the reason you don’t watch it?

Answer: Yes.

My Response No, a medal is something you can wear, some kind of insignia. It’s for yourself and others. But I wouldn’t distinguish it by ranking. The main thing is participation!

Question: Participation alone? You think this will be enough for people?

Answer: If they love sports, then yes.

Question: So tell me, when an athlete helps an athlete, when it gets tough, when a mother comes to help, what pedestal do you put it on? What place do you give it?

Answer: This is the most important thing! This is what you can award a medal for—for helping. The fundamental rule of sports should be camaraderie and mutual help! To show everyone and ourselves the potential that lies within us. That’s all.

Question: What about the soccer players? They play in teams, what kind of friendship is there? I have to win, to score in the other’s goal.

Answer: They should feel good about it. It depends on the upbringing.

Comment: I feel good about scoring a goal and that our team is winning.

My Response: Others do too, based on the beauty of their play!

Question: So beautiful soccer is showcased for spectators’ enjoyment? And everyone is happy!

Answer: Sure. Let the soccer be artistic: keeping the ball in the air, passing it skillfully. Not pushing or tripping each other.

Question: So the main concern of athletes should be giving pleasure to the viewers?

Answer: Not only to the viewers but to themselves too.

Question: How should the audience perceive it? I’m still a fan of this club. How should I take it all?

Answer: You will root for this club. You will be sad or happy as a result. So what?

Question: And if others win, what should I do as a spectator?

Answer: You’re going to root; it’s a sport after all.

Question: What about martial arts? When it’s not a team fight but wrestlers or boxers, how should we feel about that?

Answer: It’s quite simple here. Everything is on display. You’re fighting and you’re not giving in to him. You fight, and the opponent fights.

Question: But what should we wish for? What should we desire?

Answer: To show the beauty of it.

Question: What is the beauty that should be shown?

Answer: They must find a way to demonstrate the positive force.

Question: The positive force is still a force. How can it be good?

Answer: Yes, there is a good force and an evil one.

The good force is when we demonstrate together our good attitude toward each other. As in “friendship has won.”

Without this, nothing good will happen. There will be drugs, drinking, anything. The devil knows what goes on in sports.

Question: That is, if you don’t put “friendship won” at the forefront?

Answer: That’s right.

Question: I remember in my early childhood when I was told: “Friendship won.” I was five or six years old and was being comforted, they raised my hand and another child’s hand. Do you think it should be this way in major league sports?

Answer: Yes. As a spectator sport, I would not allow sports to be shown unless kindness and rapprochement between people is manifested in it, such that the struggle they wage between them demonstrates their struggle over egoism—that they showcase the struggle over their egoism.

In the News (NPR): “China’s government banned effeminate men on TV and told broadcasters Thursday to promote ‘revolutionary culture,’ broadening a campaign to tighten control over business and society and enforce official morality.

“President Xi Jinping has called for a ‘national rejuvenation,’ with tighter Communist Party control of business, education, culture and religion. Companies and the public are under increasing pressure to align with its vision for a more powerful China and healthier society. …

“Broadcasters should avoid promoting ‘vulgar internet celebrities’ and admiration of wealth and celebrity, the regulator said. Instead, programs should ‘vigorously promote excellent Chinese traditional culture, revolutionary culture and advanced socialist culture.’”

My Response: I agree with them. We suddenly began to believe that everything was possible for a person, that he or she is at such a spiritual level that he can perceive everything about himself correctly, that he knows what is good and what is bad. And it is good that they show me the bad so that I can move away from it even further.

This is all wrong! A person will perceive and absorb everything! And, of course, he will perceive the bad more than the good. Therefore, the Chinese are right, nothing good will come of this. Ban it! It is like with children. We give the child only what can benefit his development and not everything we want.

Comment: In principle, this philosophy is peculiar to people of art. I know directors who say: “I show bad things so that a person is horrified and does not go there. I want to show bad, scary things!”

My Response: I would have sent this director somewhere for correction.

We need to show to a person something that can be absolutely precisely used by him for his spiritual elevation so that an Adam (Human) would grow within him and not an animal.

Our time is an amazing time! This is a completely different stage in human development. We are explaining to people that we have nowhere to go. We are all against a single nature that affects us.

Imagine that some evil spaceship, a huge flying saucer, came to Earth, like in Hollywood movies, and is hovering over and covering it. Right now we are under just such a saucer.

So what can you do about it? We live in a world where all of nature seriously pressures us and is forcing us to become mutually connected like itself. That is all we are talking about.

To the extent we are heard, we see progress in education, in the upbringing of not only children but also adults, in all kinds of corrections, in changing views on the world, in the mitigation of all kinds of problems. We see it all!

And to the extent that it is not so easy for people to agree with this, to accept it, and to start thinking about it, problems arise between them, clashes of rigidity, which also reveal all this.

Time is working for us. We see how gradually the realization comes that we must unite after all.

In the News (Barking Up the Wrong Tree): “A survey of 75,000 college students showed that, on average, if you want to know how often a student drinks, just ask them how often they think their peers are drinking. (Oh, and be careful about correcting their beliefs with data because this will cause the ones who drink less than average to start drinking more, as researchers trying to reduce student drinking sadly found out.) What is the single best predictor of whether teens will like a song? Whether or not it’s already popular – even if that perception of popularity was totally rigged by the experimenters.

“If you want to increase a student’s grades, just give them a roommate with a higher GPA. And for similar reasons, ‘Scared Straight’ doesn’t work. Programs for at-risk teens fail miserably, averaging a 13% increase in crimes committed. Why? You just took a group of teens who break the law and put them together where they can more effectively influence one another. …

“We’re all influenced by others, that’s obvious. But the degree to which others affect our behavior can be hard to accept – especially in very serious areas where we’d like to think we’re in charge. …

“As Eric Hoffer once said, “When people are free to do as they please, they usually imitate each other.” Sometimes it’s quite deliberate but more often it’s unconscious. We’re just wired for it. This is what it means when we say humans are a social species.”

Question: Why don’t we use this colossal discovery instead of doing things as usual? A child is held back for a second year instead of being advanced to the best class. A criminal is thrown into the most terrible jail instead of being transferred to a model enterprise.

Scientists have come to this. Why aren’t we doing this?

Answer: We don’t care about making them better. We are not thinking about correcting a person but about punishing him.

Question: Do we think that this will re-educate him, that he will become better?

Answer: Not at all! No one has ever been re-educated after being in a prison or a penal colony. Nobody!

Question: And bad students who were held back for a second year did not get better either?

Answer: Nothing like that. Our method is to rot a person to the end. This is the easiest. Look what is being done in every correctional institution, moreover, all over the world. This is a global trend.

Question: Why? What is there in a person that he wants so much to simply let another rot instead of making him better?

Answer: It’s hard.

Question: Hard work to really educate?

Answer: Of course. It is best to put him somewhere with criminals where he will be the same as them. Together they will all serve time, get out, and start committing crimes again, and then we will put them back in prison. And for all this we get money.

Question: So we just limit them? Do we want to keep them from ourselves?

Answer: Only this.

Question: Does it turn out that we only think about ourselves and we don’t think about others at all?

Answer: What’s there to think about? All the ministries of education and upbringing work the other way around, not to correct a person, but to somehow distance him and not put him in the right environment.

This is generally a big problem. After all, it is a great danger if you place a criminal among good children. A smart loner will make these pretty kids into someone who will do anything.

Question: Then is it right that we restrict all these children and criminals?

Answer: It’s not that we restrict them. The fact is that we are not engaged in their education. If you have restricted them, and these institutions are called correctional, where is the correction? What is it?

Question: Then what should be the correction if we don’t put them in a good environment, but just somewhere in a correction colony or hold them for a second year?

Answer: There is no correction. If you want there to be a correction, then they really need to be surrounded by a new society.

And the new society is lessons, books, movies, in general, everything that is only possible, and under great, great pressure. The pressure should be such that they will not have a minute of time, that they will study all the time.

Question: What kind of environment should they have? Can’t I get good people hooked up to them, kind, warm, warm-hearted people?

Answer: This is very difficult because today’s criminals are smart, quirky, and very, very cunning. And I do not know who will win here.

Question: Then who do you lay all your hopes on? The teachers?

Answer: On special teachers whom we have to educate for such institutions.

Question: This is for criminals, what about the bad students, the bad kids who behave badly? What should we do with them? Should we restrict them and also introduce them into some classes with special teachers?

Answer: This requires a huge amount of money and effort. We need to understand what a corrected person is, who an uncorrected person is, and where the bad students, lazy people, all kinds of “clowns” and so on come from. They should be divided into categories and a methodology prescribed specifically for each case. There is no such thing at all!

Question: Who will do such a job?!

Answer: Who will do it? And how many billions are spent to somehow contain crime, in Russia somewhere in medium-sized cities, in America in black communities, and so on? This is a huge problem in all countries!

This is a problem that must be solved together. Where is the UN and UNESCO? Where are all these organizations? They only sit on money and do nothing else. The main thing is that they are silent.

Comment: I do not know what conclusion to draw from this, except that it is almost impossible.

My Response: No, it’s all possible, but only when we really decide with the whole world that we need to raise a healthy generation.

Question: And if we really came to this with the whole world and also felt how hard it is, but we would really like it, would we get help from above?

Answer: We would definitely get help from above. The thing is, we don’t want to. We ourselves don’t want to!

Question: If we feel that it is very difficult, almost impossible, but if we decide that we will attempt it together with the whole world, we will take the best people and say “We will start this very difficult process of re-education with the whole world.” Then if we are stubborn and persistent, would we get help?

Answer: Absolutely!

Question: The whole task is to want it?

Answer: Yes, for the adults to want it, for the corrected ones to want it. Then yes, then it will work.

A corrected adult is one who takes care of the right environment so that everyone around is correctly oriented to the right values of the world. First of all, it is a connection for the sake of elevating a person to spiritual priorities over everything material.

Question: And what are the spiritual priorities?

Answer: For you to feel that there are good people around you who think about making everyone feel good. That’s all.

Question: But will it happen at all?

Answer: In the end, of course it will, but there is still a very long way of revelation of evil.

This is the task of the world; this is the program of the world, and of course, it will be translated into reality. But I personally can’t believe that it will be fast. Or it will be fast, but very hard. Either one or the other.

Question: So there will be people who will burn with passion to make this happen?

Answer: They will be made from above.

There will be people who will not be able to live differently and they will make this revolution.

Question: It is believed that all revolutions in the world proceed according to a certain plan. Special services under the guise of terrorists attack somebody. Is there any limit to this technique?

Answer: What difference does it make in what form this is determined in our world? Hot spots are everywhere. So many weapons have  amassed that we do not know what to do. A man can make anything at home.

The point is not in the instruments of murder and not in the reason but in the fact that it is necessary in order to further implement the program of creation in a bad or good way. Which way exactly? It is only about that.

The world is following the path of unification anyway. You cannot get away from it. The problem is only in the extent to which it understands that it must reach this and contribute to this, to this extent the path becomes better. If the world does not understand, then it is punished, like a child, until it understands.

We are in a state where we can already explain this idea to the world, and we are explaining it. I think that we do it more or less successfully and at a good pace. At least we see how it works. The world is beginning to understand that it has nowhere to go; it is beginning to feel that new, completely unusual changes are taking place in people, that their egoism has stopped growing.

For the first time in the entire history of not only mankind but the existence of the universe, which developed from a small egoistic nucleus to the planets of the solar system (and this was constantly accompanied by the development of our ego), egoism has suddenly stopped growing by itself.

It began to become round and to connect, and to demand from people that they become the same as the rest of nature, all parts of which are in harmony with each other. And man is not in this state, not among themselves or with nature.

Therefore, all of the inanimate, vegetative, and animate nature that surrounds us is driving us to do this now. For the first time in the universe, in the entire world, egoism, which has lately been constantly growing exponentially, has reached some gently sloping line and has begun to become round. It is no longer growing, but it obliges us to become integrally interconnected in mutual guarantee.

Comment: Until a person overcomes financial dependence on material work, it is very difficult for him to adjust to spiritual work. He can agree with you from afar: “Yes, you are saying an interesting thing, but I have a salary and I feel very good.”

My Response: I do not think that the financial channel should be closed. A person will have everything. Why not? I see that these guys who run around and break windows in the suburbs of London, Madrid, and Paris. They do not look like they are weakened from lack of food. All of them have mobile phones sticking out of their pockets.

Where do you see that this person is suffering from hunger? This is a hunger of a completely different type, an informational one. A person is lost. He does not know why he exists. He wants to know the meaning of life!

When he had a job, he had everything: a family, a house, a car, a vacation. He lived like an animal in a stall. He led a normal existence and looked at the world and saw I am like everyone else. In accordance with this, there was the appropriate culture, propaganda, brainwashing, and everything else.

And suddenly everything turned around with no school, lack of clarity as to what kind of work there is, no one getting married or starting a family. That is, everything turned toward an unclear direction.

Past motives: study, work, career achievement, money, home, family, children, car, retirement, health care—everything stopped working. The inner desires of a person have changed: “Now you will not buy me with this.” The desire disappears. “I will work, do something, out of necessity. I do not want to rush somewhere, fight to be an assistant professor or a successful person.”

These ideals are slowly fading away.

This is on the one hand. On the other hand, you cannot give people jobs anyway! You cannot think of anything for them!

Suppose, with the help of the media, you will specifically incite a movement in them toward universities, knowledge, specialization, and so on! And then what?

They will demand: “Give me a job!” So, it is better to calm them down somehow. Therefore, everything is lost. We are moving toward the fact that people will be unemployed, but they will not be considered as such since this will become a normal state.

A person moves into another area of work, the spiritual one. This work is in connection with each other, constant learning, communication, creation of a single human mass, a single community, and mutual guarantee. A person will be engaged in this.
