Pornography On The Children’s Channel

laitman_600_02Question: A court accepted the petition about prohibiting the screening of the series, “Youth” during prime-time on the Israeli Children’s Channel because of its pornographic content.

The court determined that it would be permissible to screen the series beginning at 10 pm only, for children above the age of 14. How do you relate to the fact that children above the age of 14 will have contact with such content?

Answer: It is necessary to give children an education, but correctly, because even from the age of 10 they begin to have interest in the opposite sex. And if there is a need for this in a child and sex education is truly necessary at a particular age, then it is necessary to educate them not at 10 pm, but at a time when they have the possibility of viewing these programs.

I remember that I began to be interested in this question when I was 12-13 years old. My mother worked as a gynecologist, so in our home library there were also books about gynecology.

They were placed on the upper shelves, but I would climb up there, take these books and look at them. Of course, I still didn’t understand anything in them, but my mother, incidentally, explained a few things on the subject to me herself. So I knew something.

But without a doubt, there is a need for this! Only this must be offered to a child correctly, not excessively, not obscenely, but kindly like human beings with a humane approach.

It is necessary to explain to children how this happens with animals and with people, why, what for, and how we can use it to enjoy life. Basically, sex attracts a person because it is the highest source of pleasure in our world. That means it is necessary to bring them to it correctly.

The Best Profession

laitman_254_02Comment: Scientists have studied which profession most reduces human lives. For 17 years during 140,000 people were studied.

According to their findings, the groups most at risk included engineers, workers who provide services, clerks, copywriters, and teachers. On the other hand, professions most favorable to people’s health included street cleaners and miners.

Answer: The work of a street cleaner is clear. They are outside everyday breathing fresh air sweeping the streets, and so they are close to nature although they live in the city. Mining is a risky profession, but on the other hand it is below the surface of the earth, away from people and in a different ecological area, so although it is hard work, it is in a different atmosphere, in the virgin atmosphere of the earth. Forest keepers and gardeners are also favorable professions.

Question: Do you believe that the best professions are those that allow people to keep away from other people?

Answer: Yes, of course! But if we begin to correct our mutual relations it will be totally different. If we don’t correct them, you should really keep away from this pack. After all, what makes up human society is incredible.

Question: What do you think is the best and healthiest profession?

Answer: I don’t want to use high language, but my profession as a teacher and an educator is very important. It is a noble profession, although thankless profession.

But I am still very hopeful. I love people even though I am a loner by nature and I cannot establish close relations with people. I have changed a little lately and I think it isn’t only because I have grown older but because I engage in my science.

Today I understand people’s weaknesses and love them with all their weaknesses. I hope I will be able to bring them something good and that they will be able to hear and understand the profound wisdom that is 6,000 years old, and which is the basis of all the corporeal sciences, religions, and philosophies.

I have not lost hope that I will be able to help humanity in some way, to ease the changes that it is about to undergo: climatic and social changes. This is the reason I regard the work of an educator as a very healthy profession. I urge all those who cherish the wisdom of Kabbalah to try and acquire this profession because it is important and special since those who engage in it leave people something.

Life And Pleasure, Part 2

laitman_547_02

Spiritual Anti-Matter

Question: What is so bad about everyone yearning to get the greatest pleasure, and why are there so many problems and so much suffering in our world?

Answer: The problem is that each of us receives pleasure at the expense of someone else. By enjoying myself, I take pleasure away from others. I steal from them. I limit them somehow. This is what arouses war between people. Besides this, we were created with an evil, egoistic nature, and we want more pleasure specifically from having more than others. Enjoyment at the expense of others is a much greater pleasure. It is enough to see how we behave on the highway, cutting each other off and not giving each other the right of way. Is there really anyone for whom another minute would determine his life? Not at all, we simply get pleasure from moving ahead of everyone. This is our evil inclination. There is nothing bad about yearning to enjoy oneself. It is typical of any animal. However, a person specifically wants to have pleasure at the expense of others, rising above them and trampling them, and this is what is destroying our society. So the world has come to such a crisis.

Question: But there are many people who sacrifice themselves for the good of society.

Answer: They also are acting from their desire to enjoy. In fact, no one thinks about others. They themselves simply don’t understand the true motivation of their actions. If we were to take away the pleasure that humane people get from helping others, they couldn’t even make the smallest movement. If a mother were suddenly to stop feeling pleasure from her baby, he would die of starvation.

All matter works only according to this single principle. However, there is more matter, which is called “spiritual,” that is not felt by us and that acts according to another principle, bestowal, not reception. Spirituality is based upon this, giving pleasure and not receiving pleasure. This is antimatter, an upside-down world.

The spiritual world exists, and even ordinary science is discovering some borderline phenomena, but we are not ready to catch them with the help of our instruments. However, a person can attain a feeling of the upper world, of antimatter, and it is specifically with this that the wisdom of Kabbalah is involved.

Through special exercises, we can transform our matter into new matter, a desire to bestow, instead of a desire to receive. Then, we can enjoy bestowal, instead of reception.

Infinite Pleasure Instead Of Black Friday

laitman_276_01Question: I waited so long for Black Friday to buy bicycles for myself. I finally bought them, and all of the desire for them disappeared for me. Why does this happen?

Answer: That is the way it always happens. If you are attracted to something that you don’t have, you have a desire for it and a desire to enjoy it. So you imagine your pleasure according to the lack and the unsatisfied desire, and therefore feel tit doubly.

When you get what you were seeking, the pleasure enters, it fills the desire, and you no longer want it, so that with the passing of the day or in a few hours the desire completely disappears. It is just like when you begin to eat some wonderfully delicious special dish that you really wanted to enjoy, but all of the pleasure ends.

The problem in our world is that when we begin to receive pleasure within the desire and the desire is fulfilled, just like when food fills up the stomach, we suddenly discover that the pleasure comes to an end. That is how everything ends, even life.

The question can be asked: Is it possible to get pleasure that will be endless and constantly increase instead of diminishing? Is it possible to do this so that the more that I receive, the more I enjoy, with no end? Then our lives would become unlimited, infinite, and eternal. Basically, this is the secret of eternal life. It depends only on how we use our desire.

The only question is how to make sure that the more I receive, the more I will want, and that this will never end. Is this possible?

The wisdom of Kabbalah is called “Kabbalah” (Reception) because this is a wisdom of how to receive; it talks about how to receive, how to fill myself in an unlimited and infinite manner.

If we connect among us—if the pleasure passes through me, and I transmit it to you, and you to another, and he to someone else and so on, and this flow constantly happens between us—then the pleasure never stops, and no one becomes full.

On the contrary, the pleasures that pass through everyone are constantly renewed, and each one of us begins to feel the pleasure that comes back to him from everyone, thus he gets pleasure from everyone. It follows that we have an infinite growth of pleasure that is infinite in time, which is called our attainment of the world to come, an eternal and perfect life.

That is what happens if we know how to us the reception of pleasure correctly, and this wisdom is called Kabbalah.

Question: Who begins to give first? Do I, or should I wait until they give to me, and then I give?

Answer: No, you come to a small group where, with you, they learn how you can connect so that the pleasure will pass from one to another, and we create a circular stream of energy between us that feels like we are rising in a flying saucer, above our substance, above all of this that is temporary, limited in movement, space, and enjoyment. And then you go into another dimension, away from all of the limitations of this world.
Come and try it!

laitman_629_1Question: Why do we want to exploit each other and are willing to trample on others just so it will be better for us?

Answer: Because otherwise we don’t feel that we use the world. Only through exploiting others can we succeed; this is our egoistic nature.

To succeed otherwise, where we help others, is the nature of the upper world, a higher level, the upper dimension. We are not able to do this because we act only within our evil nature, from egoistic desire. As it is written: “I created the Evil Inclination”; this is what is in us.

Question: All my life I was taught that we all use each other, and so it is worthwhile to learn to behave like this. And now you ask me to completely over turn all my prior education. How can I manage to do this if this is completely illogical?

Answer: It is not illogical, but try to learn without changing anything in your life. Just study! And suddenly you will discover that you open a door to a whole new world that doesn’t work according to the principle of reception, but according to the law of bestowal.

Then you suddenly reveal unlimited power and possibilities. After all, by exploiting others a person is always limited because each wants to exploit the others. But when we work with everyone in mutual bestowal, we are unlimited.

And then we go out into space called Olam Ein Sof, the world of infinity, a perfect and eternal world, because nobody steals and nobody takes from the other, but on the contrary, complements the deficiencies of others.

This is an absolutely different form than material existence; it is spiritual material. This is called spiritual, but in fact this is our substance and we can attain this, then life is revealed in front of us in its perfection.

About Raising Children

laitman_547_05Question: My husband and I began studying the wisdom of Kabbalah a while ago. With tiny steps, we began to set foot on this path. Already in the beginning of the way, we started getting answers to some of the questions that we have been asking throughout our lives.

We have three small children, and as a mother, the question that concerns me is whether I will be able to convey to them some real principles about life.

You say that only personal experience is the way to teach children. How does one do this?

Answer: Free your children from your plans, and don’t force anything on them. When they grow up, they will see what you are involved with and will choose for themselves whether or not this is for them.

Question: Could you please tell me how to deal with, teach and direct my twelve-year old nephew? His mother passed away and his father doesn’t provide for him. He lives with his uncle and grandfather. I really want him to study and understand Kabbalah, but I have no idea how to turn him in this direction.

Answer: Take care of his material needs and gently give him something easy to read from our materials.

Depression—An Illness Of Lack Of Meaning In Life

Dr. Michael LaitmanComment: One of our listeners wrote that his child has no interest in life and says that he wants to die.

Answer: An aspiration for something else that is beyond this life is already appearing in the world and is especially apparent among children. Previously there was never such a problem as childhood depression. But today it is appearing at a very young age.

Depression among adults didn’t exist 100 years ago either. It appeared as minor sadness or melancholy because of boredom, especially among the nobility. But it has manifested intensively only in our time. And this disease is a lack of meaning in life, and many people suffer from it.

However, this is also progress since nature intentionally arouses such sensations in us.

Question: How long does it take a person to reach a state in which he can look at his body as if it were a foreign object, as if it were a little puppy by his side?

Answer: This is independent of time, since the wisdom of Kabbalah has become part of our lives in the 20th century, people are continuously developing internally. So it is impossible to say now how long it will take every individual to reach that state.

A person who reaches it now may have tried to attain it for years, while it may take someone who comes five or ten years from now only a couple of months. People are born today with a different potential of spiritual power, and in a couple of months, they perceive what took us years.

Program Of Life, Part 1

laitman_760_2What Direction Do We Advance in?

Question: Why do we live and what is the purpose of our development?

Answer: First of all, it’s not up to us; as it is written, “One is born, lives and dies not out of one’s own choice.”

We don’t know what will happen to us the next moment and this is a blessing. Human beings are born and live not of their choice. Each moment we struggle to survive in this world in the circumstances that life presents to us. And it is good. Otherwise, we would be completely confused.

Life puts a person in a framework he did not choose. We don’t know what destiny is prepared for us, who we shall meet today, what will happen to us on our way to work or back home, what to expect for our children and relatives.

We have no knowledge of what will happen to us; if we live a day without too much suffering, we are lucky: “Thank G-d! The day went well!”

Who are we compared to the universe with its endless stars and planets? Tiny bugs crawling on the surface of the Earth whose whole lives are devoted to the struggle for survival.

And yet, we ask what the purpose of our lives is and are concerned about the purpose of our existence, the possibility of determining our future, managing the destiny of our families, people, countries, and the entire world. Everything depends on our ability to question ourselves about the ultimate goal of our development. We depend on the level from which we ask this questions and the accuracy of our search for the answer to it.

There is a general developmental program that works in the world. If we look closer at our lives, we’ll see that it is not us who make decisions; we are inside a matrix program. This program works on us constantly, inputting new parameters in our existence and places us in different external and internal conditions.

Our cognition is made up of our inner experiences in our minds and hearts, bodily sensations, and things we perceive around us. As a result, we constantly advance and process internal and external data in accordance with programs that we don’t know about.

The program is installed in us at the time of birth; it continues with our upbringing. We are not the ones who define it. In other words, we don’t have any decision making power in life. We see that a guy and a girl meet “accidentally,” then marry and live many years together. Why does it happen? We are incapable of answering even this one simple question.

When we strive to understand our life path, the general program of nature that moves us ahead to a special goal, if we learn what goal we aspire to, we need the wisdom of Kabbalah. Of all earthly sciences, there is only one that tells us about human development that is beyond the material limitations and above our universe.

The wisdom of Kabbalah talks about the governing and controlling vectors that begin outside our Universe and impact our tiny globe and the people who live on this planet.

The wisdom of Kabbalah talks about a special purpose of human beings that we have to pursue. Our advancement is unconscious; it happens under the influence of a power that forces us to progress.

However, as a result of the evolution, humanity will reach a state when people have to choose whether they want to continue their advancement consciously, willfully, and knowingly or not.

Unity increases our desire, thus empowering us to reach the goal that is set for us by nature.

Another Tower Of Babel

Dr. Michael LaitmanOpinion (Andrei Miroshnichenko): “The real shock to civilization will be the introduction of a browser with the ability to translate from one language to another seamlessly, without effort on your part. Imagine you open a Chinese website and you understand everything on it. Or’re far away in Suriname also understands all instantly without any problems.

“This multilingual browser would be a disaster for this civilizational unit. …

“And we get another Tower of Babel. …

“If the printing press, according to McLuhan, established a national state, the multilingual browser, on the contrary, destroys the very principle of the national state, which built the modern world order.

“Strictly speaking, this browser is the full realization of the idea of the Internet. …

“In Western Europe, each wave of the media was accompanied by a certain adjustment period. For example, the first newspaper, in fact intended for the elites, emerged in the early XVII century. In the middle of the XIX century were invented the printing press and cheaper steam driven paper making, reducing the cost of production of the press, there were mass newspapers – the penny press, and there contemporary journalism emerged. That is, the distribution of newspapers from the elite to the masses took just about two centuries and formed a political system that came in the form of the general qualifying the same general reader for voting.

“In the first third of the XX century there was already a radio, even for the mass media, which did not require literacy. It played a crucial role in the formation of fascist, communist and commercial empires, that is, in the formation of modern advertising and promotion. Then came television and the Internet. Each wave of media has created new social relations. …

“… these processes are related to the ‘colorful revolutions,’ religious extremism, international tensions, all this is the ‘new Middle Ages’ – a reaction to the too rapid evolution of the media in recent years. Traditionalist consciousness, which is still at the stage of information broadcast from the ‘top-down’ is in conflict with the open architecture of the network, with its freed authorship.

“… the Gutenberg printing press led to religious wars, revolutionary and reactionary terror, redrew the map of Europe, the continent settled by three types of refugees: political, economic and religious.

“I believe that we are waiting for disasters, comparable in scale.

“More curious is how widespread computerization and speeding the flow of information is combined with counter-tendencies. …

“Imagine from two-dimensional space, we jumped to twelve. Of course, this is a shock. Inevitably, there are reverse reactions.

“The fact that changes are taking place in the media are not limited to changes in personal or social habits. …

“In the transition from book to media, restructuring occurs physiological brain.

“Reading involves language centers, and Internet surfing is a task. …the ability to skillfully use the information on the Internet is developing at the expense of the ability to read length. Internet surfing, incidentally, is very useful for the elderly. After all, the brain has to deal with many small unnoticed tasks: to click – not to click on a particular link. They say this almost invisible training helps Parkinson’s disease . But the brain of a young person in the transition to society from an online book loses the ability to concentrate.

“In fact, long-term focus on an abstract subject initially was not peculiar to man, and in the wild, even dangerous.. . Prior to the book, only priests and hunters were able to concentrate for a long time on one object.

“Thanks to Gutenberg, the ability to focus on abstract thoughts physiologically altered the brain of millions of people, which led to the explosive development of science, the discovery of vaccines, flight into space.

“Today multimedia effects on the brain leads us to the next round of the spiral. The older generation may still have some immunity, some reflection on the transition from the book to online. But the biggest problem here – the education of children. They have no experience of socialization offline, they think the Internet – is something that has always been. And they did not have experience of reading anything of length.

“There is a rhetorical question. For example, Nicholas Carr’s famous question about the Internet, does it make us dumber or smarter, I answer – ‘yes.’

“Immediately after it are seen new horizons – dimensional media, immersive media, induced reality, implantation device, finally connecting to the network of nerve endings.”

My Comment: Everything is evolving only to realize the program of nature, the unification of all of humanity into the image and system of an Adam (Man), a single man. The introduction of all kinds of media will need to complete the unification of everyone into a single organism, into one heart, desire, and mind. This will no longer expressed through technological attainments, but through voluntary ascent above our egoism according to the method of the wisdom of Kabbalah.

The Role Of Instructors

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Towards what should an instructor direct his students?

Answer: An instructor has to demonstrate a developmental vector to his students. Evolution made us human and brought us to the level of preoccupation with a question about the purpose of life. But on top of this general philosophical quest, we have to explain to our children why they live in this world and belong to the generation into which they are born. Each generation has their unique mission, potential, possibilities, and goals. All these things have to be explained to teenagers and youngsters as a part their preparation for life so that they can correctly implement them.

Question:  Toward what achievements should the instructor direct his students?

Answer: It so happens today that at best they teach a child how to earn as much money as possible and disregard all others. This is called “succeeding in life.”

In order to orient the young generation to a higher achievement, we have to learn what nature expects from us. We all live in the system of nature, and it is impossible to teach young people things that are completely irrelevant to the laws of nature. If we understand the evolutionary vector, we see where to direct a young person to avoid obstacles and hindrances that might spoil or ruin their lives. Youngsters have to understand how normal society should appear, thus, they won’t make mistakes that originate from a totally useless opposition to nature.

If instructors aim their students in the right direction, they can be called “teachers.” To a certain degree, this responsibility has to be divided among teachers of all subjects taught at school.

Question: How is school education different from parental education?

Answer: Parents and teachers have to stick to the same concepts and direct children toward one goal. In essence, there should not be much of a difference between teachers and parents, and children should not see parents and teachers in opposition. Schools, classrooms, and teachers should be as close as possible to what children experience at home.
