Question: What is the difference between religious people’s fear of the Creator and the Kabbalists’ fear of Him ?

Answer: The fear that religious people experience stems from the fear of punishment. On the other hand, Kabbalists do not have this type of fear. Instead, their fear is focused on the concern that they might not fulfill the will of the Creator.

A serious prayer is required to transition from the one type of fear to the other.

Question: From time to time, we feel fear of the Creator. How can we maintain this state consistently?

Answer: It depends on your environment, on your friends. If you all think about this together, it is as if you are keeping a ball in the air. Just as a team can keep a ball in the air when playing together, it is the same here.

Question: What do we need to do together so that we can build the Third Temple beyond what reality shows us?

Answer: We must regret that we are shattered, that there is no connection between us in our hearts and minds, and that we do not feel like one whole. Therefore, our condition is still far from being corrected.

But despite this, we must still move forward and hope that the Creator will gather us together and shine upon us, and then we will be corrected.

Question: On what basis does the holy community unite in order to become one whole and raise a perfect prayer?

Answer: On the basis that it desires to reach the Creator, to be close to Him, to influence Him, to receive from Him, and thus move forward toward the purpose of creation.

First, there must be a small establishment whose majority are altruists (Baal HaSulam, “The Last Generation”).

That is, these are not just natural altruists, but people who were egoists and corrected themselves.

Question: What does a small group mean? Is it enough to have a hundred people, or should it be several tens of thousands?

Answer: This is not a matter of chance. There should be a serious group of people who have the right to apply their knowledge, powers, and laws to other people.

I think several hundred to several thousand people are enough to begin implementing altruistic principles.

Question: They will probably act as an ideological group. Should the entire nation be involved in the implementation and then the entire world?

Answer: The implementation should occur gradually throughout the entire country. Everyone should be involved in it to the best of their ability.

When a person is rewarded with a temporary illumination of Kedusha [holiness], it is considered that he has entered the Temple.

The ruin of the Temple is when the illumination is taken away from him. (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 566, “Cast Their Seed Among the Nations”).

Correctly using the glow of holiness means thinking only about the correction of the common Kli, the common soul, which is called Beit HaMikdash (Temple).

This is not a building that can be built in Jerusalem, but our common soul, which we create from all individual souls through unification, and inside it, in every heart, we prepare a place for the Creator.

You can sustain the glow with the help of prayer for correction, for merging of the hearts. We must unite all our individual desires into one desire, and the Creator will fill it.

Question: What role do children play in the relationship between spouses?

Answer: Children should see that everything is fine in your family, that you understand each other, and live in harmony.

Question: We often have different views on how to raise children. But you say that our life together serves as an example for the children.

Answer: Of course. For example, if you are at home and your wife is at work, the children should see that you clean the house, wash the dishes, or do something else before she comes home.

In other words, each person should understand that they can do something nice for their spouse without being prompted or reminded.

Question: According to The Zohar, I must constantly strive to earn my wife’s favor. On the other hand, it says that the husband (baal) is the master (another meaning of “baal“). So in what sense is he the master? This is a very interesting system.

Answer: This system dates back to ancient times, has gone through all stages of human development, and still, our nature somehow breaks through.

Question: Help me understand from the perspective of Kabbalah: in what way is a man truly the master, and in what way is he not?

Answer: If a man properly fulfills his functions, the wife, no matter how you look at it, depends on him. If he thinks about how to do something pleasant for her, something she needs, and cares for her, she will feel that she cannot do without him. In this way, she becomes dependent on her husband.

Question: What other pleasant things can a man do for his wife besides lifting her spirits, giving gifts, or flowers?

Answer: Women do not need much. The man needs to do just the minimum, but in a way that shows he is putting his feelings into it.

Question: Can you describe the specific functions of a man? What do they entail?

Answer: I do not think this requires much definition or explanation. If you focus on making your wife feel good, especially by uplifting her mood, you will notice how your life changes.

The Creator is a good screenwriter, in the drama genre. Can we know the ending of the story in advance and influence the course of events?

Answer: We know the ending of the story. It is the complete correction of human nature.

Question: Can we influence the course of these events?

Answer: No, we do not know how we should change or in what order we should correct ourselves. But in general, the path is clear.

Question: Then why is this being done? For example, the way is clear to us—rise above egoism, above our nature, but how to do this is not very clear. Why is all this being done? Point the way, tell us how to get there, and humanity will go accordingly.

Answer: The way is very simple: love your neighbor as yourself and be like the Creator, and so advance.

Question: But this is very difficult. Is it possible? Is a person capable of doing this?

Answer: Yes, we have the strength to ask for it.

Question: So it is on me to exert effort and raise a request, an effort and a request? Only this way?

Answer: Yes.

Question: Do all spiritual practices and all religions come from this phrase? Can I say this or not?

Answer: A person does whatever comes to his mind. But in the end, rising above our ego to love everyone is what is required of us.

Comment: There is this call, by and large, which resonates all the time. And a person, passing it through himself, makes all sorts of angles, spiritual practices, and religions and builds everything.

My Response: He dodges it.

Question: Can I tackle it directly? Is there a straight path to loving your neighbor as yourself?

Answer: No. One would not agree to accept such a commitment directly. A person cannot exist in this. But little by little, I think we will come to this.

Question: Come to live this way?

Answer: Yes.

Question: “Us and the Creator”—such a direct connection?

Answer: Yes.

“Fear of sin” means that he is observing everything only for his own sake, that the reason is for himself. “Fear of heaven” means that the reason is the Creator, that he observes Torah and Mitzvot because this is the Creator’s will (Rabash, Assorted Notes, 250, “Anyone in Whom There Is Fear of Heaven – 1”).

We must reach a state where all our organs, desires, and intentions agree with what we do. Then, we will come to the correct fear of heaven.

The root of genuine awe and fear of the Creator is the desire of a person to bestow to Him. They fear they might be unable to give themselves entirely to the Creator.

We must strive for our reverence and fear before the Creator to assist us in our spiritual work so that we can direct ourselves to Him.

The fear before our friends lies in wanting to see the same feelings in their attitude toward us as we express toward them.

Yet, this fear of heaven is akin to the fear of flesh and blood (Rabash, Notes, 250 “Anyone in Whom There Is Fear of Heaven – 1”).

Question: What does it mean that fear of the Creator is akin to the fear of people?

Answer: This is a complex degree. In our world, a person instinctively fears the authority and power of those around him. Therefore, one must strive to reach a state where he fears the Creator at least as much.

Question: What does it mean to fear the Creator? Regarding people it is clear: you see them, they affect you, and they can limit you in some way or punish you. But with the Creator, there must be some sort of connection?

Answer: Of course. Without a connection with the Creator, you cannot feel how He relates to you or what He does for you. Therefore, you will not be able to match Him in the relationship, “I am to the Creator, and He is to me.”

Question: For example, what does a thief fear? That he will be punished. But what is the correct fear concerning the Creator? Is it the fear that He will punish me, or is it the fear that I will fail to do something for Him, to show love?

Answer: Yes, all types of egoistic fear. Then ask for your fear to be above this, and when you receive it, you will understand that you have ascended.

Above egoistic fear is fear before the greatness of the Creator who rules everything and holds everything in His hands. All our states depend solely on Him.
