How Do We Engage with a Friend’s Question?

231.01Question: How do we engage with a friend’s question? And how do you work with these questions?

Answer: I try to feel every question within myself as if I am asking it. I must feel each question on your level, the way you present it, and feel it on my level, the way I would ask it.

I must feel the difference between these levels and figure out how I can understand your question at my level and answer it at your level. Try to do the same with each friend’s question. You cannot imagine how much you will enrich yourselves, each of you! Therefore, you need to try to enter into your friend.

Children usually ask the most challenging questions. A child’s question may seem naive, but it is very complex. We are not used to such questions.

Additionally, the questions you ask help me create a connection with the person asking. How else can I enter these questions and they, me? In the lessons with you, I gain much more than each of you.

929Consequently, as long as the individual is troubled with concerns for himself, he is unfit to begin observing the Mitzva “Love your friend as yourself.”

The spiritual structure is perfect. It cannot be that one part of it works and another does not because the integral inclusion of everyone in everyone determines the conditions that are both necessary and sufficient for everyone to be completely corrected. That means that each person must feel their inclusion in absolutely everyone and everyone in them.

Apart from the small particle Malchut, which is within me, everything else is from everyone else. Only one point of Malchut within me is mine. Therefore, it can only work to unite everyone within me. Your point of Malchut is intended only to unite everyone within you. And so on.

The integral system presupposes a simple combination of its parts where each part consists of only one point, which annuls itself and works entirely for the sake of bestowal. And what does it give? That which it receives from the Creator. And to whom does it give it? It gives it to all those points within it from all the other parts. It is all simple.

In principle, no person has anything except what they receive from the Creator and what they give to others. And who are they? Nobody, a zero. But they make themselves this way; they receive everything from the Creator on one side and give it all to others on the other while themselves are a conduit from the Creator to the others. That is the work of each element of the integral system. That is what we must achieve.

And then there is nothing to fear, think about, or discuss. One must simply be a transitional element from one to the others—from the Creator to the creations and from the creations to the Creator. That is the best state where everyone is free and perfect!

In this state, there is everything from all creation—one attains a complete sense of the Creator, the entire world, and all souls within themselves. On one hand they are equal to Adam, the collective soul; on the other hand they are within the filling of this soul. Thus, everyone includes both creation and the Creator within ourselves, even though we are merely one point.

Kabbalistic Vocabulary

137Question: When you explain Kabbalistic material, you use a limited number of phrases and words, but simultaneously, you convey a whole bouquet of your feelings in different combinations. How is that possible?

Answer: In principle, as soon as you start reducing everything to ten parts of the soul, or the five worlds, or the inanimate, vegetative, animate, and human nature, then everything becomes very concrete, very compact. Therefore, the explanation can be through a manageable number of words.

You reduce it all to some definitions, like, in chemistry to atoms, molecules, and valences. It is the same with us. It is the coarseness of the screen, the magnitude of desire and its thickness, the magnitude of light and its various states, that is five lights, five screens, five types of egoism thickness over it, the combination between them. All this is a small, specific vocabulary.

All the enormous impression and all the richness of conveying feelings and thoughts is in the combination of these few parameters.

But they evoke various opposite sensations in us. And therefore, by going through just a hundred words, you express absolutely everything you can in human existence, not only in our world, but all worlds. The main thing is for a person to feel what you are talking about. And then there will be a very concrete language between you.

In Kabbalah, the vocabulary is minimal, just like for chemists and physicists. They do not have many words and phrases either. The most important is the combination of parameters in all possible combinations and connections. They give the entire palette of sensations and thoughts.

We Have Something to Return To

942Once, we were all together in one desire, in what is known as ‘Adam’s soul,’ filled with light. Then that state fragmented and in each of us remained a spark of that light, which used to fill us with the qualities of bestowal, love, and mutual connection.

Now, it is just a spark without a course, without any direction. Therefore, we can say that there is something in us, but we do not know what.

The questions arise: what can we ask from our friends, and what can we absorb from them to fuel this spark and turn it into a light that fills my great desire, which will help us return to that same soul to immense desire and fulfillment?

From our past state, we retain Reshimot (spiritual informational records) that we have something to return to and something to start with.

So we must urge and prod each other to truly desire to find ourselves in that state again.

Work with Thoughts

198Question: How can we work with thoughts that hit us?

Answer: First we need to consider where these thoughts come from. Of course, from the Creator.

What does He want from us? Should we receive or give? We must collect all these thoughts that collect in us and find out what is ultimately required of us and what we can do.

This analysis will lead us to correct actions, and we will receive the upper light for the sake of the Creator and pass it through us to Him.

Question: How can we learn to do this kind of work quickly so that these thoughts do not get stuck in us?

Answer: It depends on how much we work with them.

Understand the Creator’s Capabilities

530Question: Some principles make it apparent to a person what he is annulling before the ten.

What should be considered a foundation in the ten if everyone follows his heart? After all, this irritates us: one heard the teacher one way and the other heard him differently.

Answer: It will continue for a long time until your impressions of the group and what we are going through begin to coincide. Therefore, the contradictions that arise regarding your friends are very useful.

After all, everything in each of us comes from the Creator. And everything that contradicts our friends in each of us also comes from Him.

See how the Creator stirs up all kinds of contradictions with one movement. And all this so that we can better understand His capabilities. So let’s move on and see what happens to us.

A Way to Connect to the Creator

938.03Question: Now all the friends from my ten have been distributed between different tens. What should I focus on: my ten or the one I am placed in?

Answer: It does not matter. You do not have to stay in your ten. Instead, try connecting with strangers.

They are all similar to you. They have the same states, goals, and understanding that they must nullify themselves and be connected with others in agreement and mutual guarantee.

Therefore it makes no sense for you to be associated with those you know in this world purely physically, externally, or psychologically. You should enter into the same spiritual contact with strangers.

Let’s say I am sitting at the end of the table with five to six people around me. I will discuss some issues and have a workshop with them; that is a ten for me. If I connect with it now, I can already reach the Creator.

In the next lesson, I will be with another ten, a third, and a fourth. Thus, I always look for ways to connect to the Creator.

On the contrary, it is terrific if you act this way. It will teach you how to grasp any state to cling to the Creator through it.

The Creator in Man

963.5Question: According to Kabbalah, the Creator clothes Himself in every person, in each of us. For example, when you talk to someone, do you perceive that person as the Creator speaking through them?

Answer: It depends on my focus and what I need from the interaction.
If I need to respond to someone on their level so that they understand me, I engage with them on that level rather than connecting with the Creator within them.

In this case, I view the person not as an individual, but as nature. They appear to me not as a personality but as a part of nature through which the Creator manifests in relation to me. So, I do not see the person before me. I see a mass of nature, of humanity, through which I observe the Creator, His actions, and His attitude toward me.

However, when I wish to see the person and his individuality, I need to perceive the Creator as He descends to the level of that person, wants to elevate and shape him, and He addresses me.

Then I address that person directly, while considering the Creator’s influence on him and my own influence on that person so that our influences—mine and the Creator’s—align within him and enable him to rise.

Question: Is this such a complex scheme? Do you separate people into two streams?

Answer: Of course! If it is a person with a point in the heart who needs to move forward, if it is my student with whom I must interact this way, I relate to them as the Creator does—as a unique, distinct spiritual individual and not just a mass.

This approach applies only to people with a point in the heart who work on themselves and reach a level where they represent a spiritual individuality. There are not many such people. But there are not supposed to be many of them.
