Everything happens for the creatures’ benefit. Growing egoism, Pharaoh, does not allow us to do anything for the Creator’s sake. One is compelled to ask the Creator for forces to bestow. Thus a person enters a war with the ego.
In response to his efforts to ask the Creator, he receives forces of bestowal, the Soul. Thus the Creator burdens one’s heart so one will wish for the Soul.
Man has no desire to bestow. For he exists in animate egoism. But the Creator gives the desire and the fulfillment. This happens in exile. There we receive egoism and desire to climb out of it. But only the Creator can liberate them. Hence they will have to ask Him.
That is how they will rise out of egoism.
If a person feels the need to please the Creator, he understands that the Creator’s only desire is for the creatures to receive pleasure from Him. He then asks the Creator to give him pleasure. For the Creator enjoys only when the creatures feel pleasure.
Growth of egoism and difficulties is to create a need to receive help in the form of upper light, to fight greater egoism. It turns out that precisely the realization of slavery in egoism elicits the need to acquire upper light.
Hence it is written that Pharaoh brings us closer to the Creator!
At first we are in egoism, Pharaoh’s rule, but we do not feel that we are enslaved. Then the Creator brings us closer to Him, and we feel our difference from Him, we feel that we are in egoism’s rule. For there must be realization of egoism’s evil, and then its correction.
Like the serpent who convinced Eve to switch the intention to give for intention to receive, so in Egypt—work in exile is in overcoming egoism, sweetly coaxing one: “do, but for yourself, not for the sake of bestowal, the Creator, above knowledge”—and then everything will be clear and easy for you!
Work in “Egypt” is called PAREH or PE-RAH – sweet mouth. Thus egoists persuade Israe-El, those who aspire to the Creator, that it’s possible to be only in actions of bestowal without intentions of bestowal.
Hence the work of Isra-El in intention is difficult, against egoism, and seems to be regression.
Egoism resists movement toward bestowal, leaving no energy for acts for the sake of bestowal. When man sees the extent to which he is immersed in egoism, evil, and he has no force to resist egoism, all he can do is cry out to the Creator.
In response to this cry, he receives the soul—the quality of bestowal.
The Egyptians persuaded them that the intention of bestowal is not necessary. Since efforts in egoism bring joy of the forthcoming reward. Due to this it is difficult to be in the intention “for the Creator’s sake,” with no reward. This brought problems to Isra-El, those who aspire to the Creator rather than to reward.
And they cried out from work in slavery, from work of attaining the quality of bestowal, since egoism (Egyptians and Pharaoh) awakened thoughts against bestowal, for reward. For them to work in egoism.
And it was difficult for them to object because that is how our entire world is built—the religious and the secular.
“Matsa” is from the words “Mar” and “Meriva,” quarrel. Man’s quarrel with the Creator. Man’s complaints to the Creator: why is it so difficult to attain the quality of bestowal?
Moreover: the more efforts he makes to attain the quality of bestowal, the further he moves away from it.
Hence he feels bitterness (Mar) in his efforts.
If it was easy for man to attain the quality of bestowal, he would not wish to advance further, feeling that he is in bestowal, in adhesion. But the Creator wishes to reveal the entire system of His relationship with us. Hence egoism can only be defeated with the Creator’s help.
The Egyptians, while developing egoism in man, did not allow him to perform acts of bestowal, leading to adhesion with the Creator. By that they demonstratively enslaved him, letting him feel exile in egoism, the impossibility of resisting the rule of the Egyptians, of coming out of slavery, exile.
Spiritual work (Avodat HaShem) is work, efforts, for the Creator’s sake. The result of this work is adhesion of the person performing this work with the Creator. In the process of bestowal, we receive the correcting light into the will to bestow, and then—the fulfilling light.
If no questions arise in a person about his intentions, for whose sake does he act, then he exists like everyone.
But if questions arise, “What for,” from his ego, by that egoism itself compels him to go against it—and thus brings on its own demise.
This is “help against oneself.”
To the question of the evil son (the quality of egoism in a person), he replies that he wishes to be in the quality of bestowal above calculations about himself—in faith above reason.
But thanks to your questions, I reveal the understanding that the Creator’s path is in faith (bestowal) above knowledge (egoistic calculation).
Moses is the quality of faith, bestowal, in man, OH. This is the quality of a leader, shepherd, the intention to bestow over all of man’s actions. This is the only quality we need to be in spirituality, in equivalence with the Creator.
The degree of Moses, faith, bestowal in man determines his degree.
The main part of the entire correction is exodus from egoism, Egypt, into the quality of bestowal. Other degrees are just advancements. On each degree we must awaken the joy of redemption from egoistic desires. To this extent we reveal joy and gratitude
Egoism cannot bear the suffering of being belittled, for it is founded on pride. Hence, when it sees that the friends in the group are more successful than it, this elicits forces of growth and ascent in it. This egoistic nature must be utilized intelligently!
Egoism is inherently proud and envious. It wishes not for its necessities, but for what it sees that others have. Hence it can develop infinitely. Everything depends only on the use of the qualities that the Creator has given us, precisely for His revelation.
The condition of redemption from egoism is that all the nations will know Kabbalah, “And the earth will be filled with knowledge of the Creator.” This was the condition for exodus from Egypt, when Pharaoh attained the Creator and permitted the exodus, He called Moses and ordered him to leave to work for the Creator.
(Torah, Shmot 12:31, Baal HaSulam, “The Messiah’s Horn”)
Since there must be realization of the necessity, and then attainment of the desired.
We must attain a state where we will discover that the ego itself drives us out of itself since it has realized that we are loyal to our goal. It calls Moses and Aaron at night and accompanies them out of Egypt. Hence there is an entire Torah portion, “Vaishlah” about this, that “The Pharaoh sent them.”
#Zohar for the People, Shmot 129
Two paths lead to the goal: a forced, long one or a short, preferred one with our participation. The choice is ours. The goal is achieved by a full request (in quality and quantity) for freedom from egoism. Therefore, the quality of connection in the group determines salvation.
All work in Egypt is in a group!
Freedom is possible only when one feels in slavery, exile. In inability to free oneself.
In crying for help in complete despair to free oneself.
Then the help of the Creator comes to him.
Check: what state are you in?
Egoism does not let you do anything without self-benefit and there is a feeling of exile from bestowal and suffering in the measure of desire to work for the Creator.
With increasing efforts, one starts screaming about salvation from egoism.
For liberation is against nature and thus only the Creator frees.
Malchut (point) is the 4th stage of the 4th stage of Direct Light, agrees with what is happening and wants to use the preceding qualities received from the Creator so that by analyzing all the states, even opposite to the Creator, to confirm that there is nothing better than being similar to Him.
A breakage means that every quality that the Creator relates to the creation (nine Sefirot – nine qualities) changes to its opposite in the creation, becomes negative, as if proceeding not from the Creator but from the opposite of the Creator.
A person must constantly explain to himself that there are no other changes beside the internal, there is no different world but only a new perception within himself, according to the new qualities he has acquired.
