Why Do We Like Movies?

laitman_922Question: Why do people love to watch movies and TV shows and to get caught up in the feelings of complete strangers? Is it because of a lack of feelings and experiences of their own?

Answer: No. These are not someone else’s feelings. I feel the same emotions myself, and then identify with the heroes of the movie. People pay a lot of money to experience feelings that make them cry. For example, people fly to Germany to see an opera, etc. There is a Rabash article where he wrote that feelings a person isn’t currently experiencing, but has either experienced in the past, or they come to him in a state called “empathy” from the compassion that he feels for others, and although bitter feelings may be aroused in you, it is a pleasant bitterness that only enhances the sweetness. That is why we like to cry a little and dwell in sorrow a little because this further emphasizes the possibility of enjoyment and happiness.

Question: In the past, you said that movies were invented as an art of empathy. What about horror movies? Why should a person watch them?

Answer: These films nevertheless expand the limits of a person’s imagination and shake him a little. We have very few emotions in life. In our daily lives we are “frozen.”

Remark: There is a theory that if a little child watches action and horror movies, these experiences and impressions will be enough for him and he will not actualize them in life. There is another opinion that claims that this will influence children negatively and they will become violent.

My Comment: Certainly, they will get used to cruelty. Likewise, a bad example is contagious. I believe that this should not be allowed at all.

If the Creator wouldn’t replace the good Pharaoh with the evil one i.e. change our awareness to see futility in a life of plenty, we would never leave Egypt, this world. But egoism develops & sets new values, “meaning of life”, causing “famine in Egypt”#Spiritualwork ML #Passover

#Hawking: There is no God. All processes happening in nature can be explained scientifically. God is the sum total of the laws of nature.
#Kabbalah: God in Kabbalah is the general force of nature and nothing exists except that force.

#Hawking: Everything that exists is what our mind can grasp, and if man cannot grasp the notion of God, there is no God.
#Kabbalah: God is an abstract notion. Man must research any phenomenon in line with the principle, “A judge has no more than what his eyes see”

#StephenHawking: Only a world government can save humanity.
#Kabbalah: A world government must be united, educating and uniting by definition, educating humanity toward unity above its egoistic nature.

#StephenHawking: Mankind needs an activity, a higher meaning, so it won’t be left to its own devices #Kabbalah: Salvation lies in Man’s upbringing, creating a society in which we value and enrich one another, in which differences and opposite qualities blossom while serving unity

#Passover
Spiritual famine in the midst of total material plenty.
The desire grew qualitatively and demands upper world fulfillments instead of “pots of meat”. The Creator spoils life.
One who studies #Kabbalah accelerates the descent and leaves if he doesn’t rely on friends!

#Spiritualwork_ML “You are few among the nations”, meaning few people in the world have a point in the heart, an aspiration to reveal the Creator. “Thousands enter, but a handful reveal the Light”. Offended? Take it up with the Creator! People leave because the desire is small…

It says: “Man’s heart will be proud on the Creator’s path” – against one’s pride, greatness of #spiritual work versus this #life, spiritual pride above material pride. One must constantly strive to raise the importance of the goal – reveal the Creator in unity.#Freewill_ML

The condition “Man’s heart will be proud on the Creator’s path” prevents one from overcoming his ego and he leaves #Kabbalah. He can’t lower his ego, rise in bestowal above reception (faith above reason), set an example of unity and bestowal to friends, and he leaves.#Freewill_ML

#Europe “center of the world” is over. Interdependence and weakness of Euro-states. TNCs are dividing the #world. #Politics relies on force. Digitization of life leads to change in #consciousness. A united world is founded on unity above egoism. Only Kabbalah is capable of that.

In man’s mind, there is knowledge of the current degree. But at the same time, he has to anticipate the next degree, imagine it as standing above his present knowledge, as “faith above reason”, the next degree of his knowledge. He must tread from faith to knowledge! #development

#Spiritualwork_ML
The main law of nature is #universal balance. Everything in #nature is interconnected and balanced. We must recognize this law and our incongruence to it, and reach its observance. This will equal observance of the commandment, “Love your neighbor as yourself”.

#Spiritualwork_ML #Passover
Working egotistically to unite in the group at the start of the path (Egypt), we flourish – the desire enjoys it! But work in the group and study draws OM. We then reveal disunity, the work’s goal, reward, a worldview – people grow weaker and leave…

Growth of egoism (Egypt), its approval and rejection – stage 1 of developing towards equivalence with the Creator – happens unwillingly: Jacob’s sons do not wish to unite, the Creator compels them by famine (crisis). We enter #Egypt in order to succeed in #egoism by uniting.

#StephenHawking: Only a world government can save humanity.
#Kabbalah: A world government must be united, educating and uniting by definition, educating humanity toward unity above its egoistic nature.

To Rise Above The Ego

Laitman_165Question: What does it mean to rise above egoism in my answers during workshops? To play with words, to agree with the others and continue their thought even though I feel and think the opposite?

Answer: To rise above egoism means to try to make connections with others that are most kind and altruistic so that the Creator can enter into your relationship with a friend, appear in it, and be in it. This is the way you discover Him.

You play in it, clearly knowing that it is not you. But your efforts are gradually arousing the impact of the surrounding Light and it builds new properties in you.

Question: But this often provokes a negative reaction in people. They say: “Why should I pretend? Where is the truth coming from the heart?”

Answer: Your truth is only your egoism, nothing more.

Question: What is the benefit of artificially presenting myself, let’s say, as the last of the participants?

Answer: You are created an egoist, you despise everyone and everything. The most important thing for you is only yourself, and you understand this perfectly. Therefore, you must act out completely different properties that you allegedly possess.

Why should you do that? It is so that the upper world reacts to your game. This happens in a very simple way. The Light knows everything that it has created in you and it evaluates your efforts. You strive to be great, good, to unite with others, to reach the Creator.

However, in principle, based on the properties that the Light created in you, you cannot desire it, but you try to play, and this is counted as your efforts. According to them, the upper Light changes you. This is your payment for changing.

What Is The Secret Of Kabbalah?

laitman_216.03Question: If today Kabbalah is open for everyone, then what is its secret?

Answer: There are no secrets in Kabbalah and never have been. The entire problem is only in society’s  possibility of correctly accepting it, adapting to it, tasting it, and using it correctly for its development. There is nothing else.

For example, it is written in The Book of Zohar that of the great Kabbalist Rabbi Shimon’s ten disciples, only Rabbi Aba could correctly expound upon it so that it would be accessible, smooth, correct, and at the same time hidden.

And the measure of concealment must be so special that when you read the Kabbalistic text, it reveals itself to you, and maybe not to your neighbor.

New Life 950 – Being A Celebrity

New Life 950 – Being A Celebrity
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

Why does it seem to us that being a “celebrity” means being happy; how is publicity about a person influential, and how do we direct the natural desire for publicity to a positive place?

The desire to be respected and well-known is inherent in a person and today when this is possible, everyone wants to be a celebrity.

The stars of the future will teach others to be happy by attaining the essence of life. They will be people who succeeded in rising above their own egoistic calculations.

“Stephen Hawking”

Dr. Michael LaitmanFrom My Facebook Page Michael Laitman 3/15/18

An interviewer once asked the late astrophysicist Stephen Hawking, who died yesterday, how come he uses “God” as a metaphor although he is not religious in any way?

“If you believe in science, like I do, you believe that there are certain laws that are always obeyed. If you like, you can say the laws are the work of God, but that is more a definition of God than a proof of his existence,” Hawking replied.

Interestingly, Kabbalist Yehuda Ashlag, wrote that “Nature (Hebrew: HaTeva) has the same numerical value (in Hebrew) as God (Hebrew: Elokim)—eighty-six,” and therefore we can “call the laws of God “Nature’s laws” or vice-versa, for they are one and the same.” (“The Peace”)

The wisdom of Kabbalah, similar to ordinary science, asserts that man is meant to investigate and attain a clear sense of reality, and not be caught up in delusions. Man must apply the proverb: “A judge has only what his eyes see.” Meaning, he must trust only what he is capable of grasping in his actual senses.

However, if the concept of “God” is undefined and amorphous, declaring “there is no God” is just like declaring “there is a God.” In order to declare the existence of something or lack thereof, you first have to define what that something is. Perhaps Hawking knew what he meant when he said “God,” but in science, you cannot refer to something if there’s no consensus on its definition.

Hawking’s decisive approach to the non-existence of something, is somewhat reminiscent of the certainty that previous generations had that the earth was flat or that the sun revolves around it. Also, a statement about the existence of God, or vice versa, is sometimes connected to one’s expression of the righteousness of his view and the triumph of his belief.

A person who researches reality using the method of Kabbalah accepts that what he cannot perceive simply doesn’t exist for him. In other words, let’s say I am told: “Jump a meter high, and you will see a completely different world.” Now, I simply train myself to jump a meter high. I do not believe what I’m told, I want to see for myself. Therefore, I focus only on the jump itself.

The wisdom of Kabbalah explains to us how to use the laws of nature so as to expand our grasp of reality. Ultimately, to reach a state where I am included with all of nature, referred to as “attaining adhesion with the Creator,” or in Stephen Hawking’s words, “to know the mind of God.”
