We Need Everyone

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: I feel that everyone is already united and connected; whereas, I have not succeeded in attaining this in any way. How is it possible from that emptiness that I can ask for the friends and what exactly do I need to request?

Answer: Without your active participation we don’t attain anything. You need to ask in all kinds of words, to be included together with us in the collective system. And we need to show that without you we don’t attain that harmony that is imperative for us to discover the Creator. If the Creator chooses a particular amount of people to participate in the collective vessel within which He wants to be discovered, then we need to do this.

The spiritual system is built according to the principle of mutual acceptance and balance flowing to the end of correction. There are all kinds of components in it that complete the system. But in spite of it all, if the person is linked to us in some form, then we must show him that without active participation on his part we cannot attain anything, we need him.

Mission Possible

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: How can I help the group to become a raspberry ball?

Answer: You need to be concerned about this as a person upon whom everything depends. And this is indeed the case. Our problem is that we think: “I am one among many thousands!” This is not true, each one is unique! These are not just words but the property of the integral system.

Therefore we cannot force a person to remain in the group and also cannot expel him from it. Each one chooses this through his actions, through his relationship to the group, for he becomes a foundation for human advancement.

Everyone must have a feeling of responsibility, a feeling of personal destiny; not only does the fate of the world depend on me, but that of the whole creation, of all advancement towards the Creator. And this is truly so. When we attain spirituality, we begin to understand that everyone except for me is in a completely corrected state, and I am the only one who wasn’t corrected, and everything acts in such a manner as to show me this in their reflection.

What we see in the world is our reflection: Someone kills someone, someone steals, abuses someone, this is all our ego that is demonstrating itself to us. How can I be relaxed and remove myself from this state?

To feel responsibility for the whole world, this is our obligation. Each one of us, this is the universe! Today the physicists already speak about multiple universes, and this is truly so: Many universes are included one within the other.

Therefore feeling our task is something very important for we are the main participants in creation. On the other hand, we must not panic. Our work is realized correctly only through the group, and nobody is exempt from this. It’s interesting that even those that we attract among the masses will feel this activity as their great mission.

Five Months Of Pregnancy Instead of Nine

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Can the spiritual embryo hasten its own birth even though it is under the domination of the upper force?

Answer: Of course, the embryo can hasten its own birth. This is actually what we speak about all the time. The end of correction is bound to come, but all our work is in hastening it.

If we hasten our birth, will the embryo be born prematurely? No, because we hasten time and not the birth. If the embryo doesn’t develop and is born before it matures, after six months instead of nine, that is a problem. But if the development of nine months takes place in five months, that’s fine. This is called sanctifying time or shortening time, hastening it. This is obvious and typical in spirituality because time changes like in Einstein’s theory of relativity. There is no constant time axis.

A Flood Of Light On The Potential Difference Of Desire

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Do all my clarifications relate only to my attitude towards the group?

Answer: There is no other way we can see the truth except through the environment. We only feel the difference between the desires, but we don’t feel the Light itself, just as we don’t feel or know what electricity is, but can only measure the effect of some phenomena that goes through the wires. In fact, nothing goes through the wires, but we simply imagine it this way. It is all our subjective perception and therefore we can only distinguish the relative changes.

We see these two states: state one and state two, but the reason for the changes between these two states is a force that is concealed from us. However, by studying these states, we learn about their concealed cause. This is called “from Your actions, we will know You.” Creator operates on us, His actions are fulfilled in us, and according to these actions we get to know Him.

This means that we always feel and measure our only vessels. Even the Light of NRNHY is called by names that we give the changes in our desires.

Question: How can I be sure that I have reached the end of the clarification and that it is right?

Answer: We can measure whether it is right only with regard to others: Does my attitude towards others and my attitude towards myself change in favor of the others? The attitude towards others is a very versatile discernment because we learn about our attitude towards the Creator from our attitude towards others, since it includes everyone. By correcting our 613 desires and performing 613 Mitzvot (commandments), we attain a vessel that is totally corrected in order to bestow and we reach the end of correction. But these 613 desires are always external to us and operate with regard to others.

Now we cannot measure the level and the intensity of the correction that we perform, but later it will become increasingly clearer. The whole correction is in order to bestow outside myself, with regard to vessels, desires, outside myself that seem foreign to me. By changing my attitude towards them, I acquire the attribute of bestowal and discover it as a partial perception of the Creator.

Only my desires and the desires of the other participate in this: one of them less and the other more, and the Upper Light is in a state of absolute rest and fills all of creation. I place my vessel above and the other’s vessels below, and the Light flows from one to the other. I feel which Light fills me and which stream goes through us according to the gap between our levels, the gap between the potential of our desires: Nefesh, Ruach, Neshama, Chaya, and Yechida.

Touching Bestowal

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: What does a person feel when the attribute of bestowal is clothed in him instead of the attribute of reception? Does he go out to the streets filled with love for those who pass by, as if he enjoys the view of mountains and lakes while driving? Is it a permanent feeling, or does it pass immediately just like the pleasure I feel from the beautiful view?

Answer: The filling you get from bestowal passes and then comes back again as the states constantly change. Why do you think that this state, this feeling should remain? The pleasure you feel from the beauty of nature is much longer than the spiritual feeling. Every spiritual state ends the moment you feel it. This means that you have already touched it. You don’t need to feel it more than a moment in order to respond, and that’s it.

If I receive a chance to relate to others with greater concern than for myself, it doesn’t mean that I have to hug and kiss them. I can even shout at a person if he doesn’t work correctly; it makes no difference. The inner attitude belongs only to the connection of our souls. It is like your attitude towards your own child, who you love inside, while on the outside you do whatever it takes in order to educate him, until the internality and the externality become one.

Love always lifts a person above others since it prepares him for bestowal, and bestowal is only possible from the big to the small. It is a feeling of belonging, but not an egoistic feeling like with regard to your own child. It is impossible to describe. It is said: “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” There is nothing we can compare this feeling to in the corporeal world.

The Wholeness Of Sabbath

Dr. Michael Laitman

How thy restfulness, thou Shabbat – the Queen
So we will run towards, come veiled bride!
Dressed in lovely clothes to light a candle in blessing
And all work completed, you shall not labor
From the evening, inviting a variety of delicacies (still from darkness)
The day before the fattened roosters are ready
And set several varieties, and drink fragrant wines
And delightful delicacies in all three times
(From the Shabbat Song: How Friendly Thy Restfulness)

Sabbath is the highest state and there is no higher state. Sabbath stands for the end of correction, the full adhesion of a person with the Creator in all his desires and his intentions. What can be greater than that? Adhesion is the goal of creation.

Three meals and three references correspond with the three lines. Sabbath is the middle line, wholeness that was created from the darkness and the Light by their completion of one another, and not by the annulment of one another. This is actually how the wholeness is attained. This means that we shouldn’t annul the evil, but rather add it to the good so that “the darkness shall illuminate like the Light.”

Israel is called the chosen people only because it has the middle line, because it’s the only way we reach the solution to all the questions. And even the evil inclination becomes the good inclination.

A special Light comes to the Sabbath, which completes the whole work. All our preparations are necessary only for the correction that will take place on the Sabbath. Everything is done by the Upper Light and not by us. We only prepare the vessels, our desires, during the six thousand years of the week days. Then comes the Light and corrects them. So we mustn’t perform any corrections during Sabbath, since it’s the state of my recognition that only the Creator can correct everything and not I. I make all the preparations and let the Creator perform the correction since I am certainly unable to do so.

Birth, Feeding, And School Years

Dr. Michael LaitmanRabash, Article “The Cup of Blessing Must Be Complete”: In the state of Ibur (gestation), the upper level corrects a person. One is like a fetus in its mother’s womb, who completely annuls himself before its mother, doesn’t have an opinion of its own, and “consumes what its mother eats.”

Continuous self-annulment before the upper one, constantly advancing, overcoming internal resistance, allowing the upper one to act as it wants is extremely hard work.

It is really hard to constantly self-annul before the upper one in everything we go through, in any situation we experience. Actually, it is next to impossible. However, one applies tremendous exertions, pushes the limits, breaks down, and nevertheless tries again and again. One ties maximally strengthen oneself by replenishing energy from one’s environment, and thanks to this in particular breaks his heart and screams for help from Above. Then, the upper one helps him to annul himself and enter the state of a fetus.

A fetus state lasts for nine months. Each time greater egoism, the desire to receive, is revealed within a person, which he has to overcome again and again, until this period is over, one is born, and enters the state of Yenika (feeding, drawing of sustenance).

In the feeding state, one is already acquainted with the upper one, but that doesn’t mean that one’s state becomes easier. At this point, a greater egoism is revealed. One has to accept the power of the Creator, His greatness, the upper governance, and the supremacy of the force of bestowal over his even stronger egoistic desires.

All one was expected to do as a fetus was to self-annul. It doesn’t mean that one acts mindlessly or feels nothing. At this stage, one still acknowledges the tastes and thoughts relative to which one is self-annulling. At the stage of feeding, one has to partake in one’s own advancement and growth by making decisions whether or not to accept the sustenance. One has to voluntarily agree that one’s entire life is in “milk” (the Light of Hassadim) and that one doesn’t need anything besides it, thus rejecting the state of Gadlut (greatness). This is what our spiritual advancement is about.

The evolution of a spiritual fetus and later on a newborn child are very intense periods of time. As in this world, a person rapidly grows by transforming from a “zero” into a small baby. Then, during the first two years of breast feeding, one transforms from a newborn baby who knows nothing about spirituality into a two-year-old toddler, who walks, thinks, talks, and interacts with the upper one.

After the feeding period is over, a child continues growing in a form similar to the upper mone. When a child stops self-annulling before the upper one, the school years begin. These are stages of human spiritual growth that all of us are facing without exceptions.
