The Tendency Of Nature

610.2Question: From the point of view of Kabbalah God or nature are the same thing. The purpose of nature, as written in the sources, is unity of all opposites. Therefore, they say so much about the need to unite, love your neighbor, etc.

But what is the purpose or tendency of nature?

Answer: The purpose of nature is to bring man and all who represent the concept of man to equivalence of form to the Creator. Then it will be called Adam (Adomeh—similar to the Creator).

The Creator is the quality of bestowal and love. And man in his original state is the opposite of this quality. Therefore, his correction consists of distancing himself from his original egoistic quality—for his own sake—and inversely changing himself so as to do everything for the benefit of others. This is the tendency of nature.

“Remember That You Were A Slave In The Land Of Egypt”

560Question: Your teacher Rabash, commented on a passage from the Torah, in his notes: “Remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt.” Why should a person remember this?

Answer: Remember means that you must constantly awaken the state in yourself when you were a slave of egoism. Now you are not in egoism, but you incite it in order to work with it even more deeply, even more, and rise even higher above it.

Let us say you jumped out of Egypt, you are in faith above reason. And then what? You need to constantly incite the Egyptian states in order to always rise above them higher and higher, up to complete correction.

Question: But we said that, on the contrary, it is necessary to cultivate the greatness of the Creator’s quality of bestowal, this upper force of nature, and not to remember how bad it was in egoism. Or do we need both?

Answer: No, you are not remembering these qualities, but you incite them within yourself because you still have them in you. But anyway, they are already above your transition from egoism to altruism. Then, once you are already in altruism, you incite them for further work.

Question: Does it mean that when we left Egypt we had not yet reached the final correction, and this is just the beginning?

Answer: There are 125 degrees ahead of us!

The Spiritual World Is The World Of Intentions

961.2Comment: In the legislative law of any country, punishment is determined not by the action itself, but by the intention that preceded it. It is clear that the most serious crimes are those that a person commits intentionally. A crime is considered intentional if a person consciously accepted the possibility of criminal consequences.

According to the main law of Kabbalah, a person is also defined not by his action but by his intention.

My Response: Yes, but in Kabbalah, intention 100% determines the consequence, and in our world, it makes up some percentage of everything that happens.

Our world is a world of actions that come from corporeal circumstances and activities. The spiritual world, however, is completely built on intention. There are no actions in it other than the intention that produces everything.

Desire is a force and intention controls this force. It defines for whom this force works, in whose direction it is aimed, and for whose benefit. All this is divided very specifically: either for the sake of bestowing to others or for the sake of the subject, that is, the person himself.

Therefore, both the action itself, its power, which determines its level, and the intention are taken into account here: either this is the intention to bestow, or this is the intention to receive. This refers to the strength of desire and its intention, just as in our world there is a physical action and its intention.

The problem is that in our world, we cannot accurately explain and accurately record the intention of a person. And in the spiritual world, these intentions are completely clear, and a person is evaluated according to his degree, vision, awareness, and attainment.

Depending on this, his position in the spiritual world by itself makes a judgment on him and qualifies him as to what degree he is, how external nature treats him and directs him precisely either by compelling forces or by helping forces, and so on.

That is, a person is not among people who evaluate him by some subjective political, social, or other standards, but in spiritual nature that is absolute and knows one’s capabilities and evaluates one’s abilities, actions, and successes on its 100% scale.

Question: Who can see and appreciate the purity of a person’s intention?

Answer: Only nature itself because it represents a general 100% altruistic intention.

Question: Can a person who is already at the degree of revelation of this nature evaluate the intentions of another?

Answer: Yes and no. After all, if I am at some degree of spiritual nature, let us say I am 80% corrected in my intentions, then I cannot evaluate everyone else 100%, but only to the level that I have reached myself.

Spiritual Qualities And Their Manifestation In Matter

746.01Baal HaSulam, “The Teaching of the Kabbalah and Its Essence“: Each of the manifold still, vegetative, animate, and speaking in this world has its corresponding part in the world above it, without any difference in its form but only in its substance.

Baal HaSulam writes that there is a law of root and branch; after all, spiritual forces manifest in our world in the form of matter.

Comment: So, when Kabbalists write in their books: “The Land of Israel,” they mean a person’s desire to become similar to the Creator. In our world however, this manifests itself in the form of matter: earth, people living on it, their bodies, and so on.

My Response: But this is on a level that does not exist in us. In principle, we are talking about those qualities that are revealed in people: how can we correct these qualities and to what level, what form we should reach.

Thus, an animal or a rock in this world is a corporeal matter, and its corresponding animal or rock in the higher world is a spiritual matter, occupying no space or time.

In the spiritual world, these are just qualities. That is, a Kabbalist sees spiritual qualities, describes them in his books, and those who have five corporeal sensory organs see them in our world in a materialized form.

Tongue-Tied Moses

49.01Question: It is written in the Torah that Moses was “slow of speech and slow of tongue,” that is, he was tongue-tied. What does it mean?

Answer: Inarticulate speech does not mean problems with speech, but the fact was that it was difficult for Moses to explain the essence of his actions because they seemed completely unreal, wrong, and not from our world to others. After all, you cannot express intention in words, and it will not be clear to other people.

Therefore, everyone who saw what Moses was doing believed that he is not of this world, was acting wrongly and giving them wrong recommendations.

Question: Can we say that it was difficult for him to explain to all the other egoistic desires why it is necessary to leave Egypt because reception is our nature?

Answer: This is correct. First one needs to explain to oneself and then also to others.

Quality That Rises Above Idolatry

610.2Question: You often say that man himself creates the Creator. Isn’t this idolatry?

Answer: When a person creates the Creator, that is, builds an idol for himself, this is idolatry. Usually, this happens in all religions and spiritual practices.

Comment: But we often say that in uniting with each other we create the Creator.

My Response: No. We create a quality that we call the Creator. That is not idolatry. We do not sculpt anything for ourselves to worship this doll.

Comment: It turns out that without revealing the altruistic positive force of nature in our feelings, it is impossible not to be an idolater.

My Response: We are all idolaters until we become at least somewhat similar to the Creator. That is, if the quality of bestowal, of absolute, pure bestowal, is even a little bit higher than zero, it already is a quality that is above the egoistic work called idolatry.

Do You Want To Be Like The Creator? Work For Bestowal!

549.01Question: If I give something without knowing what and to whom I give it, and neither society nor other people, not even the Creator know about it, is not such selfless giving idolatry?

Answer: I would not be so sure about the words that the Creator does not know. After all, we are talking about the fact that I simply imagine that I can do an action that no one, even the Creator, knows about.

And how do I do it? For what, why? Without any motivation?

Comment: No, I want to be like the Creator. And He is an absolute bestower. He can do actions with no relation to Himself. And I also want to do such an action.

My Response: Let us say that theoretically, you did it. And then what? Has the world changed for the better? What is the result of your action?

Comment: The result is that I have come closer to the Creator, at least in theory. It is said that He is a quality of bestowal, an absolute altruist, and I want to be like Him. So I am trying to do this action. And if I fulfill it, then it means that I am getting closer to Him.

My Response: That is right. The Creator is your standard. You want to be like Him in the quality of bestowal, love, and selfless help. Then do it.

Question: And this will not be considered idolatry?

Answer: No, because it is bestowal. The Creator is the absolute, working only for bestowal. If you want to be like Him, work for bestowal.

It will not be idolatry because you do not want to get anything for it. Idolatry is the desire to receive for oneself.

Scientific Idolatry

294.2Question: There is such a thing as “scientific idolatry.” It manifests in the fact that one relies on science more than on oneself and on God. Is the worship of science considered idolatry?

Answer: It depends on what form of worship. If only to obtain some scientific data in order to move forward further, then no.

And if this stops a person and he worships exactly what he has received from science, believing that it is final, irrevocable, and unshakable, then this is already idolatry.

Function Of The Creator

546.03Question: As a rule, after giving birth, a woman goes through a reassessment of values. Despite being an egoist, is she now focusing on some other element that, in principle, exists outside of her?

Answer: Yes, in this she assumes upon herself a certain function of the Creator. She is giving birth.

Question: Is this the reason that for many women the period of revaluation of values is a difficult one?

Answer: Yes, depression and very serious conditions can take place here, but all this is due to the hormonal restructuring of the body. As a result, there is a very serious internal process of growth and maturation, and it cannot be substituted with anything.

It is the function of childbearing, development, upbringing, and care that is the function of the Creator. From the structure of the spiritual system, we see that a woman in this state is Bina, i.e., the function that is above us. Through Bina, the Creator influences us. Therefore, we call it mother nature.

There is no substitute for this and, of course, men are disadvantaged here in many ways. Only a complete connection, the correct interaction of a man and a woman can compensate for a man what he will never be able to achieve by himself.
