The Wisdom Of Kabbalah And Martial Arts

laitman_954Question: Does the wisdom of Kabbalah promote involvement with martial arts? It provides training in endurance, the ability to endure pain, team spirit, and developing positive characteristics within you.

Answer: I often heard my teacher Rabash recommend things like that, but only for the purpose of physical readiness and self-defense. I never saw him involved with this himself. He believed that the best thing is walking a lot, swimming, and sometimes working out in a gym. He was a very strong man, much stronger than I, even though I was younger than him by forty years. Rabash was engaged in physical labor all his life. He carried 40 kilogram bags of cement to the third and fourth floor.

So I believe that if it is necessary for a person, he should get involved with martial arts. But in principle, involvement with the wisdom of Kabbalah will balance everything in him. Ultimately, one will choose what is in harmony with one’s spiritual movement.

Don’t Believe Me, Find Out Yourself

Laitman_155Question: Why should we believe you?

Answer: You shouldn’t believe me since you cannot actually perceive me and whether what I say is true or not. If a person understands the wisdom of Kabbalah he knows what I am talking about and if he doesn’t understand, how can he express his disagreement from the perspective of not understanding?

The wisdom of Kabbalah is not a system of information that a person is served and taught, but a guiding system and a set of instructions that lead a person to the revelation of the upper world. Then he can study and understand independently and this is the reason that I cannot tell you about it.

A person does not have the right tools or vessels which means the compatible senses and attributes to perceive the upper world because it is attained only when one resembles it and is equal to it. Even when a person reads Kabbalah books he doesn’t understand anything.

I can only explain the method of attaining the feeling of the upper world and how we can advance towards it, how to enter it by the connection between the friends, by drawing the Surrounding Light unto us, etc. A person will begin to feel and to attain this when he becomes a Kabbalist.

Question: Can we call it the hidden part of the Torah? Is what Kabbalah books describe the revealed part and what is attained the hidden part?

Answer: On the contrary, the hidden part is the part which the books describe, the levels, the ascents, the revelations, etc. Because when a person reads he doesn’t understand what he reads, but when he attains and feels the upper world, it is revealed to him, while it remains concealed for everyone else.

Giving A Person A Portion Of Light

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: As a Kabbalist, do you give a person information according to his capacity to understand? How can you do that and is this something only a Kabbalist knows?

Answer: I try to descend to the level of that person, but at the same time, I also know that there are things that he will hear but will not understand.

There may also be unpleasant responses to my explanation and a person may even understand the exact opposite of what I said. Still I have no other choice. I still have to insert a small portion of Light into a person. Then it depends on how the Light operates.

Desire That Revives A Person

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Does a spiritual record of the path we passed remain in us?

Answer: We retain absolutely all spiritual information of everything we passed through during history. Now, we must gradually summon its manifestation in us and implement it.

Therefore, the dissemination of Kabbalistic knowledge should be directed first toward those who feel directly concerned about it.

Question: Do you think of the ten lost tribes whose location is unknown at this point?

Answer: No, this is none of my business. My job is to deal with those who wish to go forward. Gradually, we scatter the seeds of knowledge to all those who have a desire to learn about the spiritual world, to achieve the purpose of his life, to “enter the land of Israel,” and to realize it now in this life.

Question: Is it possible to say that your non-Jewish students somehow relate to the lost tribes?

Answer: At the moment, it doesn’t matter. After all, if a person has the desire, then he is ready to attain the spiritual world.

People from all around the world come to our congresses, they spend money and time just to be with us for a few days. How strong and high this desire is! We must respect, love, and worship them, not the external shell, but the desire toward the Creator that He revives in them.

Question: When you say that you love a person, does it mean that you love just this point in him?

Answer: Just this! Nothing else! All of the rest is an animal that lives today and dies tomorrow.

Question: Do you have a prayer that this desire will continue to live in a person, that he would manage to hold onto it with his teeth?

Answer: I keep a constant prayer for all the students as much as is possible from my side. The rest depends on them. Freedom of choice is given to each one, and each one must realize it. We hope that it will happen with all in the world.

Teacher And Student—Upper And Lower

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Torah, “Deuteronomy,” 01:37 – 01:39: The Lord was also angry with me because of you, saying, “Neither will you go there. But Joshua the son of Nun, who stands before you he will go there (the land of Israel); strengthen him, for he will cause Israel to inherit it. [Moreover] your little ones, whom you said will be prey, and your children, who on that day did not know good and evil they will go there and I will give it to them, and they will possess it.”

During the forty years in the desert, a person completely fulfills the qualities he had when he started his spiritual journey, meaning after receiving the Torah until reaching the quality of Bina before entering the land of Israel. Now all these qualities must acquire a totally new form, receiving in order to bestow.

Question: What does it mean for a student to make his way to Mount Sinai, then from Mount Sinai to Bina, and exit to the next level?

Answer: A student performs these actions relative to a teacher by annulling himself more and more before the teacher. He reaches an understanding that everything he considered right before is absolutely wrong. It always happens at the lower degree relative to the upper one.

A student sees a teacher in a new form that he is only now beginning to reveal, which he didn’t understand or feel before. He couldn’t value his teacher. As it is said, “Anyone who denies the upper, denies him because he is lower.”

Question: What does the rebellion of the people against Moses, against the teacher, mean?

Answer: It is natural! They can’t agree with what they are offered. In such a case, the teacher dies.

In our world he dies physically, and in spiritual degrees, he dies spiritually for the student. The moment the student stops using the teacher as the upper, this person dies for him, meaning he stops leading him. And in a physical form, if students don’t require their teacher anymore, he has nothing to do in this world.

Every degree is for the lower ones. And according to this direct connection, the teacher has no reason to stay in the material world if his students don’t require him.

Students can’t be blamed for this because this situation is definite and natural! They receive such guidance from above that it seems to them that they can survive perfectly without a teacher. They already received what they needed, sorted everything out, and now, supposedly, know how to move forward. He even slows them down and distracts them somehow.

The same happens with respect to Moses. The people think he already gave them everything; they don’t see the next degrees and following opportunities in him, and therefore he dies.

Question: Then what does the death of the generation mean for the students?

Answer: If they are rising to the next degree, they need to pass states where all their previous desires, no matter to what extent they were corrected, must now die, meaning to accept upon themselves a new level, called receiving in order to bestow.

I hope that everyone will understand, know, feel, and experience this and that we will enter the land of Israel.

Question: What do students need to do in order to learn from the past? After all, we still learn from it so that the generation won’t die.

Answer: We can’t learn from anything. We are just told this story. However, we will still disregard, and strike against Moses who leads us forward. And this will be repeated again and again in every person.

Question: Did you also rebel against your teacher internally?

Answer: Of course. You can’t move further without it. Therefore he said to me, “I understand that all miseries in your life are because of me.”

The upper really understands it. And then he acts for the sake of lower, either beats him with the pain in the heart, the way we punish little children, or waits till he grows up.

By A Spring Of Fresh Water

laitman_525Question: Will it be more difficult for the next generations to correct their ego?

Answer: It will be easier for the next generations to correct their ego because we are paving the road for them. We are the pioneers, and that is why it is so difficult for us. When I began to study, there were no easy books about the wisdom of Kabbalah. There were no introductions, and my teachers spoke in a language that I didn’t understand at all.

Today, everything is much easier and simpler. There are many materials on our Internet site, and everything has been prepared for you, for those who study. I hope that new students will arrive who will open new opportunities for us and give us a big push toward the right description of the wisdom of Kabbalah.

Question: People who read the writings of Baal HaSulam don’t understand anything, which means that there is no way they can understand him without commentaries.

Answer: When I began to study, it wasn’t easy either. On the other hand, I had the feeling that I was drinking fresh water—that I was by a spring that I couldn’t reach, but it was spraying drops of fresh, cool water on me. I couldn’t reach the water, but it was fresh. This feeling lasted for a very long time.

My teacher always said that many pennies add up to a big sum, which means that every small effort is added to the previous effort and that you need a lot of patience for that.

I didn’t have a group and friends who studied with me. I had no one by my side but my teacher. On the one hand, it was very hard. However, on the other hand, I realize today that it was necessary in order to bring me up as an independent individual, a lone wolf, a loner who could advance in life without needing anyone. This is the reason that I can be independent today.

How Can We Solve Corporeal Problems?

laitman_528_01Question: Is it important to re-read Kabbalistic texts over and over again?

Answer: No, not necessarily. Read what you enjoy, what is close to you, so that you will feel that the text is written for you. Basically you don’t have to do it at all. In principle, it does not matter what you read from the true Kabbalistic sources, because the most important thing—is your aspiration to the Light that you feel in your heart.

You will gradually feel that you are getting closer to the Creator in response to your yearning—to feel it above the problems, that are brought by the same force, so that you will turn to Him. After an appeal to Him, the problems disappear, there is a short respite, and again a problem, and then your aspiration to the Creator.

Everything stems from the Creator and everything is solved by getting closer to Him.

Question: Should I unite with the friends if I want to solve a certain problem and then read a book together in order to summon the positive force?

Answer: Yes, the solution to the problem is in the connection with friends, but this doesn’t mean that you are free from solving it on the level of our world.

You cannot solve corporeal problems in a spiritual way only. You have to actually act physically, and the solution will come through your connection with the friends and the Creator.

Ready To Be A Kabbalist’s Student

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Why do people who don’t know the wisdom of Kabbalah think that it engages in mysticism and magic?

Answer: In order to deter those who are not ready to engage in the wisdom of Kabbalah. A person has to ripen before he begins to study. Even people who wanted to study the wisdom of Kabbalah were turned down and had to make great efforts for a long time before being allowed entry to the study.

He was accepted under very strict conditions with all kinds of restrictions. By performing them, he was allowed to gradually become part of a Kabbalistic group, and then he was dedicated to the requirements for the study of Kabbalah. It was explained that this should be done in association with like-minded people who are building together a small, integral, closed society.

In this society, all are equal, all support each other, are included in one another until they dissolve into one single entity in whom they discover the upper world, and begin to study and explore it.

It says that this is what happened to the great Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, who later authored The Book of Zohar when he came to his teacher Rabbi Akiva. The latter sent him away three times, claiming that he wasn’t ready to study the wisdom of Kabbalah yet.

New Life 625 – RABASH – Rabbi Baruch Shalom HaLevi Ashlag

New Life 625 – RABASH – Rabbi Baruch Shalom HaLevi Ashlag
Dr. Michael Laitman in conversation with Oren Levi and Tal Mandelbaum ben Moshe

RABASH was the son of the great Kabbalist Baal HaSulam. He related to his father as his teacher, and that wasn’t easy. He was a construction worker, paving roads, and also studied with his father every day in the early morning as is customary with Kabbalists.

He was a humble man, kept himself very hidden. In his youth he received rabbinical ordination from Rav Kook and Rav Sonnenfeld. He wrote what he heard from his father and gladly accepted the secular students for the study of Kabbalah because it was the time for correction.

There is no one more important in our world than Baal HaSulam and his son RABASH, they prepared the way for the system of correction for the world. Thanks to them, there is a paved road for advancement to the next stage of our development, the understanding and recognition of the upper world.

I gave lectures in Tel Aviv and from there I brought over 40 students to study with RABASH, and then he began to write special articles for them. In these articles he expressed all of the inner work that a person must do in order to realize the purpose of life. We need to develop to the level of man that resembles the upper force, to rise above the ego, which divides us, and to unite. Baal HaSulam and RABASH prepared a medicine against the ego, which distances us from each other and causes separation, repulsion, and mutual hatred. With the help of this medicine, it is possible to treat and heal all the diseases in the world and to really become “one man with one heart.”

When people learn how to connect, they discover between them the upper force, a special force of love and connection. And then they begin to feel a new level of life, a higher harmony. If there are good relations between us, then each one will care for the others, and this will solve all the problems. Of course, our nature is opposed to this connection, thus we need the medicine, the system, to rise above our nature.

Thanks to Baal HaSulam and RABASH, the world to come opens up to us the next level of existence where we are all united. Of course, none of this belongs to religion. The wisdom of Kabbalah originates from the knowledge of the upper force only. In conclusion, these two great lights open the door to the upper world for us, whole, eternal, and enlightened.
