The Physical And Spiritual World

Laitman_712_03Question: How does the physical world influence the spiritual world?

Answer: It doesn’t. Everything descends from top to bottom: the upper world affects the lower. But under certain conditions, we can influence the upper world, and through it—the material world.

As we correct our egoistic desires, we affect the properties we have mastered—the properties of bestowal and love. By matching these properties with the altruistic properties of the common soul, through it, we influence the impact it has on our world.

Question: Is there danger that by bringing oneself closer to the Creator and mastering the governing system, Kabbalists could abuse their knowledge?

Answer: It is impossible, because when you fall from the property of bestowal and love you immediately lose your connection with the upper world and, therefore, its impact on our world.

Answers To Your Questions, Part 111

laitman_231_02Question: What is the book Shamati about and how can a person study and understand it?

Answer: It is about spiritual attainment.

Question: Do I have to go to the spiritual level, the level of the upper Providence, to realize the selfish desires of this world? Or can you bypass this step by simply realizing their properties and aiming them toward bestowal?

Answer: You can begin the ascent immediately.

Question: It seems similar to studying in college: five years of study, but when one starts a job they say: “Forget everything you learned and start really learning.” Colleges teach students how to study so that in a real job environment people are prepared to quickly overcome difficulties.

Answer: Well, it seems right, but we’ll see…

The Relationship Between Two Worlds

laitman_624_07Question: What is the relationship between the two worlds: the spiritual and the physical? Is it possible to influence the spiritual world from the material and vice versa?

Answer: The world is grasped through my selfish desires when I absorb impressions and information through my five senses: sight, hearing, smelling, taste, and touch.

Everything I feel in the material world, by maximally absorbing pleasant things and maximally rejecting unpleasant things, passes through my egoistic filters and I categorize them. I want see only the good, so I distance myself from all the evil, so much so that I cannot identify much of what is happening because I just don’t want to see it.

But the upper world is built according to a different principle; I don’t draw to myself what is good for my ego, but I interact in an opposite direction: I love others and not myself; I go out of myself for a good relationship with others.

And so I begin to see a completely different picture around me; it’s a completely different world! It is said to be higher because it is above my ego, above my present existence.

The connection between the two worlds is very simple: If I relate to everything egoistically, I feel the material world, and if I relate altruistically, I feel the upper world. This connection exists within me, I connect the two worlds; everything is happening only in relation to me. The wisdom of Kabbalah speaks only about the subjective perception of a person.

Question: Doesn’t a person who goes out to the spiritual world become detached from this world?

Answer: No. His egoistic, beastly, habitual feelings remain in him, and with all his human drives, he moves out of himself to a connection with others to bestow to them according to the general rule of “you shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18). And with this intention to exit himself, he discovers a world that is upside down.

Question: Doesn’t this seem too simple for a person? After all, anyone can say, “I love others.”

Answer: It’s very easy to say that. When he tries to see the upper world, he will understand that this is just impossible to do except according to a specific system of work in a particular group, with clear support according to particular books and a special method. In addition, it takes a number of years.

So someone who says, “What is the matter with you?! I love everyone!” is profoundly mistaken. This is a human mistake.

Seeing The Two Worlds

Laitman_708Question: Are there people who are not afraid of death?

Answer: Fright, fear of non-existence, the end of life, all of this is a natural feeling.

And if I don’t stop there, but become separated from something very small, dirty, and disgusting, as if I am moving on to another job, or traveling somewhere for a vacation, or just changing my life for something more comfortable, I don’t feel that I am losing something and I am not afraid to separate from it.

On the contrary, I see both worlds. And the transition from one world to another is completely painless, without difficulty, since we feel the upper world many times more brightly and tangibly than our world, and we live simultaneously in the two worlds. As it is said, “You will see your world in your lifetime” (Berachot, 17a).

What Is Desirable To The Creator?

laitman_627_2Question: I quote from your book: “As its object of study, Kabbalah takes the only creation, the only thing that exists besides the Creator—man’s self, or “I,” and researches it. This science breaks down the self into parts, explains the structure and properties of each part, and the purpose of its creation.

Kabbalah explains how every part of man’s self, called “the soul,” can be changed so that one would reach the goal of creation, the state desired by both the Creator and man himself” (The Zohar, Page 34).

The question is: What does “desired by the Creator” mean? How can something be desirable or not desirable to the Creator if the Creator is not a personality?

Answer: It says to be desirable… because at the heart of creation is the Creator’s desire to delight the creatures.

Kabbalah Isn’t Involved With Predicting The Future

laitman_219_01Question: How does the future of humanity look from the vantage of the spiritual world?

Answer: I cannot say. One can only envy people like Wolf Messing who were able to predict the future and speak about future states of man and humanity, but they do so only on the corporeal level (beastly).

The wisdom of Kabbalah also lets you do that, but the Kabbalists don’t use it.

But what Kabbalah really makes possible is the ability to manage the future, to bring it to a better state. Therefore, I cannot predict it, I don’t know it. I can say only approximately what states await us, but what they really will be depends only on us humans.

The wisdom of Kabbalah isn’t involved with predicting the future but in the improvement of the general situation of mankind. Thus, it is now that it is specifically being revealed in order to raise humanity to the next stage. Ahead of are still many stages of development. We think: “The universe has been in existence for 14 billion years! The Earth has existed for 4 billion years! Humanity has existed for a few thousands of years! And our era has existed for tens of thousands of years.” These measures seem enormous to us.

But in fact, in comparison to other measures, it is in total a very short period of time. It isn’t even measured in seconds since time only flows in relation to us.

Ahead we have many more steps we have to go through: we need to exit our current situation and enter into the next, and from that one to the next one, etc. Kabbalah speaks of a huge cycle that we need to undergo. So we should not dwell too long in this stage, it is not so comfortable.

Answers To Your Questions, Part 110

laitman_249-01Question: How can I convey to my friends that only connection and a good attitude can strengthen us at such difficult times?

Answer: Through example!

Question: A question about dissemination. The problem of Europe suggests that we need to make an effort to be engaged with dissemination. But how is it possible to talk about the wisdom of Kabbalah with people who don’t want to listen? Could it be that it is enough if we only study?

Answer: First and foremost we must attain connection between us, after that with the Upper Light, and after that with those around us.

What Does The Wisdom Of Kabbalah Offer Us?

laitman_259_01Question: How can we be sure that it is actually the wisdom of Kabbalah that reveals the upper force? After all, every religion claims that.

Answer: That, I cannot say. The wisdom of Kabbalah doesn’t focus on attracting people.

A person must delve into the sources, listen to what they say, dig in the primary sources on our site, and then realize if it is what he is looking for or not. If it isn’t for you, keep on looking elsewhere, and if it is for you, we will be very happy.

Of course, we are interested in people hearing us because, as I have learned from my own experience, the wisdom of Kabbalah gives a person a feeling of eternity, wholeness, and a feeling that he manages his own fate. He is not afraid of dying in the physical sense since he ascends to another level of existence while here in this life.

I think that nothing can give a person what the wisdom of Kabbalah does. I am not speaking about different religions, since they appeared as a result of the wisdom of Kabbalah being concealed. It is the foundation of all the religions, spiritual practices, and even philosophies.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is the foundation of all of the sciences. The ancient sources tell us about that, and all of the wisdoms and sciences stem from these sources.

Where Can We Find The Patent For Eternal Pleasure?

laitman_276_01

Question: Does Kabbalah have a patent for how to find enjoyment?

Answer: Our world enables us to enjoy less and less, despite the fact that we make enormous efforts: advertising, TV, all kinds of tricks, sports, leisure, and tourism. A person does everything he can in order to find enjoyment. And nothing. Everything disappears and fades away very quickly. In the past a person was happy with a piece of meat or cheese and some vegetables.  Today you walk into a supermarket and there is such an abundance that you don’t know what to choose, and still people have lost the taste in life.

The wisdom of Kabbalah is the wisdom of receiving, of pleasure and satiation. It explores the nature of our world, the desire to enjoy, and teaches a person how to do it correctly.

Why is the wisdom of Kabbalah considered a secret study that is concealed from people? Because people had to undergo a great multi-millennial history in order to find out that they cannot find enjoyment in the framework of our nature, while on the next level, the levels of the spiritual nature, they can be filled with an eternal upper pleasure.

This feeling of eternity is the feeling of the eternal pleasure of perpetual movement in a huge bed of love, comprehension, content, and revelation. This is called the upper world, the next world, the Garden of Eden. This is where the wisdom of Kabbalah is leading us and it is all open for us.

Question: Does a person have to do any special exercises or meditations in order to achieve that?

Answer: No. You don’t need to pray or to meditate, you simply need to study two or three hours at least a couple times a week. You can do every day. We have opened Bnei Baruch Kabbalah Education Centers.

In addition to the study, we also have conventions in different parts of the world, from South America to North America, Europe, Russia, and other countries. Everyone is invited to these conventions, including those who have just begun to study.

The most important is the study of the correct mutual interaction between people because this is how you begin to understand how the system of connections in the upper world is built. It is opposite from our system, and pushes people to get closer to one another. It is actually in the connection between us that we find the entrance to the upper world.

Kabbalah Is For The Family

laitman_551_0Question: What is the meaning of life for a woman who has no family or kids? Could it be that she can find the meaning of life in fulfilling herself in society?

Answer: Today, most women hardly ask themselves that question. Having one child is the norm, and the family institution is becoming weaker because the rate of divorce in developed countries is now over 50%.

Today, we are less capable of sustaining a family and caring for children. At the same time, a woman still has the motherly instinct and the desire to have children, although, according to statistics, there aren’t that many. In addition, if the state ceased to encourage women to have children, there would be even fewer.

I believe that not more than 30% of the population have the desire to have children. The others have them automatically under the influence of social pressure guided by the assumption that, if everyone has kids and I don’t, it is time that I should get married also.

According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, a person must realize himself normally: to be a family man, have children, and care for his family. It is actually from this framework that he should grow spiritually as he learns the method of the right fulfillment of everything that he has been given in this world.

Question: Won’t the wisdom of Kabbalah lead to loneliness?

Answer: On the contrary, according to the wisdom of Kabbalah, a person must get married, have children, work and care for his family, and the Kabbalistic method teaches him how to sustain his family properly and to feel great pleasure and happiness in it for many years.

The wisdom of Kabbalah tells us about how the world develops and what is determined by nature, and how we need to fulfill, use, and manage everything correctly and not distort our life in any way.
