The Creator Hears All Prayers

624.02Question: It is said that the Creator hears all prayers. What does it mean?

Answer: The Creator hears all prayers regardless of what level a person is at or how he evaluates himself: as higher, lower, average, it does not matter. If his request is to come closer to the property of the Creator, then he summons the upper light that corrects him, and he ascends.

Remark: It turns out that there is some absolute, higher force, a primary source, energy. I can evoke this energy as I desire to be like it. However, I don’t know what this force is.

My Comment: For this, you must pray; that is, you need to find out who you are and what kind of energy it is, how different you are, and how you can turn to it, how you can raise your desire to become like it so that it affects you and corrects you.

What Prayers Reach The Creator?

Coronavirus—Occasion To Unite Around One Problem

935We should always remember—everything that happens to us is sent by the Creator and works for our own good. But in recent events with coronavirus, the action of the Creator’s hand is especially pronounced. Connection with the Creator is possible only on the condition that the creations ask Him for something or thank Him for what He did to them, one of two things: either request or gratitude. Otherwise, there will be no connection of creation with a higher power. We receive only the minimum illumination, which gives us the opportunity to exist in a state of waiting. But such a state is not desirable either to the creatures or to the Creator.

Therefore, we must understand that by awakening us with the help of the coronavirus, the Creator helps us organize and turn to Him. Now all of humanity is turning to the Creator consciously or unconsciously.

This is how connection between the creation’s desire to receive and the Creator’s desire to bestow strengthens. We are required to maximize this connection, expand it, deepen it, and most importantly, do it together, turning it into a common prayer. Such a prayer breaks all barriers and opens the correct and true connection with the Creator.

We reveal the connection that already existed before, but was not felt, like a baby, who rests in its mother’s arms and is not aware of it. This is an unconscious natural connection. But when the child grows up, he begins to strengthen this connection, realizing that it can be interrupted. This is how a child grows.

All our development and ascent along the spiritual steps, rapprochement with each other, lies in the fact that we are increasingly organizing ourselves for prayer, appeal, and gratitude to the Creator. This is how we strengthen our connection, which becomes the most important thing to us.

My whole life is determined only by the degree of my connection with the Creator, more or less, how strongly I hold on to Him. I keep spinning around this one parameter as the most precious in my life.

It has been said by Kabbalists of all generations that everything is achieved only by the power of prayer and it would be good if a person prayed all day. After all, they revealed how important it is that we turn to the Creator consciously, with understanding from our connection. All our actions must be weighed with respect to the extent, to which this helps us turn to the Creator. This is the only consequence of our work.

There are only two forces: the Creator and creations. Creations should reach out to the Creator all the time and with all their strength, turn to Him, ask, and give thanks. Now the Creator is awakening the coronavirus, sending the rulers of the world thoughts and a desire to lock us up, stop us, make us sit quietly at home, so that we could concentrate more and more on our appeal to the Creator.

This appeal is the most central point of creation, which we need to expand more and more, until all reality, all worlds, fit into this point of pleading as one person to one Creator. Only then we can say that we have reached connection and adhesion between us. The main thing the Creator expects is our united appeal. If a billion people cry out to the Creator individually, or if this billion unites with each other and appeals to the Creator, then the difference between these two appeals is like this world and the future world of final correction. The main thing is the common prayer.

Therefore, we are given an occasion from above to unite around one problem in order to turn to the Creator with it. This already allows us to connect with each other and with the Creator thanks to awakening from above. Although this connection did not arise at the expense of the creations themselves, it is also taken into account and included in the general correction.

Why Do We Need Prayer?

laitman_942Question: We conduct our main work in a ten, which is considered the main tool for understanding the Creator. Why then do we need prayer?

Answer: You cannot do anything yourself in a ten. You should try to get together with others, check your progress, and see that you cannot succeed in anything. And then you turn to the Creator.

You show Him, “Look, we are in the ten trying to get together, but nothing works for us,” then He helps you. That is, you need a ten for a prayer, for a request to the Creator, so that He helps you, and you, united, come to connection with Him.

You must present this ten to Him saying, “We have done everything, but we see that nothing will succeed without You.” And then He will fulfill your request. This is how it works.

624.02Turn to the Law of Nature

Question: How can one turn to an invariable, perfect power, to the law of nature, so that He would give me something to change?

Answer: One can turn to Him only with one request: that He will help us see the world correctly. Then there will not be any problems.

If we really ask Him, He does everything so that this world will become a very bitter place for us and very difficult so that it will confuse us. As we move forward and develop, we get more and more obstacles. Therefore, we have more and more reasons to turn to the Creator.

Change Hatred To Love

laitman_625.02Question: Where is the place for prayer when we transition from love to hatred and from hatred to love?

Answer: Now it seems to you that it is very simple to be in the state of love or hatred and to transition from one to the other. In reality, you will discover that you cannot do that.

Imagine that you do not love someone, even hate and reject him. Now try to change your state to the opposite one. Can you do it? No, you cannot.

However, you do want it, and you need to change yourself. You understand that this hatred that you have pushes you away from spirituality and you cannot begin feeling the upper world. What can you do? Then you begin to ask to change your hatred to love.

How is it possible? You should not worry about it. A small ray of light is sent to you from above and you become a different person—young, beautiful, loving, and loved. Everything blossoms. This is the prayer.

My Friends In My Heart

laitman_259.02We can imagine what the prayer to the Creator should consist of. We can discuss it in general. But why is it so difficult to utter these words that address Him? I have to feel myself, and myself as a part of the group, see their contribution, and the impression of the Creator that I receive through them. I gather all these impressions inside, and use them to turn to the Creator through the ten.

I have to put it all through my heart. Whenever the heart is unable to do the work, I help with my mind, my thoughts. It is best for it to be the work of the heart, for the mind to merely support the heart when I cannot feel my mind at all, working exclusively with the senses.

This is how we must work throughout the day, every day, gathering inspiration from all the friends. I do not even need to physically meet with them for that. My friends are in my heart, and I exert effort to feel them, become inspired, and feel the Creator, common to us all, within such inspiration. With this inspiration from the Creator that I receive through my friends, I pass the prayer back to Him, MAN, also through my friends. This is the circle of our work.

Demand

laitman_284.01We must realize that we are not aimed toward the Creator and have no contact with Him because connection with the Creator is against our nature. Spirituality can be attained only through prayer, but we are incapable of it. The Creator will disallow us to do this. It is easy for an ordinary person to turn to the Creator in all religions and beliefs, but we cannot because the Creator wants us to have a true, correct, internal connection with Him, which is precise, powerful, and mutual. Therefore, He will show us how far we are from this connection.

Once we discover our inability to turn to Him, to pray, to be in contact with the Creator, we will understand how much we need an environment, a group, and connection because only within it will we reveal the Creator and together we can turn to Him. Otherwise, neither I nor all other friends reach the Creator. We can only do it together.

This is not the Creator to whom people pray in all languages and in all religions, imagining Him to themselves. We must clearly reveal the Creator because the Creator (Boreh) means “come and see” (“Bo” [come] and “Reh” [see]).

Only through the correct, true request, after we connect with the Creator, can we change our state and realize ourselves. The connection with Him is only possible through our unity and common demand.1

We should ask the Creator for correction as persistently as a crying baby demands from its mother, confident that she must reply to him. Through such demands, our desire grows. This is how a person, a child, grows; everything is arranged in the way in all of nature. However, we are different because we can know to whom we turn and can be in equivalence of form with Him.

Everything that happens in nature, in inanimate matter, plants, animals, and people, all the desires of all the times and all the created beings accumulate within us and we bring them to the connection with the Creator. Otherwise, the Creator will not hear us. He heard Kabbalists in the past, even if they studied individually, but today it does not work. Therefore, we are called the last generation, which plays a special role and does not act like all the Kabbalists of the past, who only set the stage for us. Now we are realizing this task through a special connection between us.2

We must break the partition, constantly nag the Creator, ask, and demand, know there is no other way. Again and again. The Creator enjoys our requests. So perhaps we do not need anything else? If the Creator receives pleasure from our appeals to Him, then He cannot let us clearly feel His reaction; otherwise, we will begin to use Him egotistically, demanding “give us, give us” even greater knowledge and sensations.

Therefore, the Creator hides even more. He reveals Himself to us a little in the concealment and we need to intensify our request, to bring more mind and intention to it, to gradually get closer to understanding what the screen and reflected light are.

We do not reach connection with the Creator directly but through our complete inversion. I cannot come to the Creator with my current desires and thoughts because they will short circuit. Plus and minus will be short-circuited directly. Therefore, I must place a correct adapter between them that is called “restriction (Tzimtzum), screen (Masach), reflected light (Ohr Hozer), and then my will to receive can enter into contact with the will to bestow of the Creator. There has to be some kind of dielectric [electric insulator] in the middle, that protects against short-circuit, and this is the restriction, screen and reflected light.

First, we need a restriction so that I myself would at least demand the strength to restrict my egoism, would not want to see and feel the Creator; rather, on the contrary, I would ask the force to not let me use my will to receive. I ask to be given the strength to rise above my nature. Thus, I wrap myself in insulation and then behind this insulation I ask to be given the intention to bestow. I do not know what it is, but if this is the nature of the Creator, then let Him give me a little bit of these qualities. I then receive the dressing of the upper one, the dressing of the Creator, the dressing of the great priest (the great Cohen).

In the measure of this dressing, wrapped in the reflected light and certain that I use my will to receive for the sake of bestowal, I can already act. We are very close to this realization, it is right in front of us. We just need a little more effort to ask, to demand. If we do not feel a response, then like a baby, we become even more demanding.

If the mother does not respond, the child grabs her and pulls her. Again, she does not answer, he begins to hit her, scream, sob, and roll on the ground in hysterics. It is all a game because when he gets what he wants, he instantly calms down. This is how nature makes him act. We have to do the same with the Creator, nagging Him again and again.

However, we already have initial contact with Him, we are very close. The Creator only sets more and more difficult conditions for us every day so that we can reach the true demand, which He can answer.

We need to go through all this because this is not an artificial condition “if you do not scream, you will get nothing,” but rather the process of building our Kli. These cries, the efforts made to pray together with our friends, become our new spiritual vessel. The will to receive is not the Kli, the Kli must be built above the will to receive. This new Kli is built precisely through the contact with the Creator when He does not respond to us.

So The Prayer Would Reach The Creator

laitman_936Recently, our world has been discovering its insolvency, vileness, and lies. Beautiful phrases only help to see how we do not conform to different ideals.

Those centuries when people were inspired by such phrases have already passed. Today we are more sober, egoistic, and looking for a real solution to our relationships.

This mission comes down to prayer. The Creator determines the whole nature, pros and cons; He tugs and shakes us. Just grabbing onto Him helps us hold the nature within ourselves in a way that it also holds us.

Therefore, prayer, a request to the Creator so that He would hold us above our egoism, is primary. Only by rising above the ego do we achieve the right state, so-called faith above reason or bestowal above reception.

Despite the fact that our body and mind disagree with bestowal, love, and sacrifice, we must master the quality of the Creator and work for bestowal in joy.

At our level, we are given the opportunity to cling so much to our friends and to the Creator that through them an upper force acts on us and disconnects us from our egoism, from our “I,” and we can leave this “I.”

Then we gain a feeling of the state outside ourselves, faith above reason, a sense of the ten, and in it—the Creator. Beforehand, it is impossible. Therefore, the correct positioning of oneself in regard to the ten and the Creator is to ask them, ask the Creator to do everything possible to help you, to pull you out of your “I.” Otherwise, you will remain in it and when will this happen for you? Will it ever happen at all? It is unknown.

Baal HaSulam writes that he was very happy with the problems that are revealed, because those that are not revealed yet are practically in a zero state, and who knows if they will ever be exposed. If they are revealed, it will be a great blessing, happiness, condescension.

Therefore, we must strive with all our might, and most importantly, beg the group to help us. If we ask strongly, then our request will reach the Creator.

Prayer—Conversation With The Creator

laitman_235Question: How do we use the difference between exalting the Creator and gratitude to Him in prayer?

Answer: There are lots of kinds of expressions in prayer. It is a request, praising, gratitude for the past, and even, in a sense, my promises for the future.

Prayer is a conversation with the Creator. You should not address Him with any clichés. Only from yourself. It can be in the form of an internal dialogue when each of you talks with the Creator. It can be in the form of a plea in one direction. In whatever form you want.

An example of prayer are the Psalms of King David. He was a great Kabbalist who lived in the ninth century BC. He wrote a collection of prayers Psalms, which are popular throughout the world in all religions. Read, you will find yourself there too, because they include absolutely all conditions—from zero to 100%, to the complete correction of all souls.

laitman_275Turn to the Creator

Baal HaSulam, Shamati, Article 209: There are three conditions in prayer:

  1. Believing that He can save him. Although he has the worst conditions of all his contemporaries, still, “Will the Lord’s hand be too short to save him?” If it is not so, then “the Landlord cannot save His vessels.
  2. He no longer has any choice for he has already done all that he could but saw no cure to his plight.
  3. If He does not help him, he will be better off dead than alive.

These are three correct attitudes to life. Everything is determined by the Creator. There is not a single thought or feeling that comes from me, only from the Creator.

Therefore, I have to always be in a heightened state of readiness, analyzing everything happening in my mind and feelings, realizing that the Creator presents it to me, and ask Him immediately for correction, to direct me properly to have good thoughts of love and bestowal toward others, that is, accompanied with good feelings that are above oneself of bestowing to others.

The Creator reveals only evil in me, as it is said: “I created evil.” However, I catch this evil mid-way and immediately ask Him to change it to good.

I then begin to enter into an interesting relationship with the Creator called “a dance,” like a tango: He leads me, and I lead Him. He influences me, and I give back to Him. Thus, we complete each other.

Acknowledging the evil is primary here. Once you understand that it came from the Creator and that “There is none else besides Him,” there is only one thing left to do: ask Him to change the evil to good. This is what our whole life is about, our entire spiritual work.

Question: Can I turn to the Creator without acknowledging my egoistic qualities and their destructiveness?

Answer: No. It is like you are the goalkeeper and the Creator constantly shoots at the goal, and you have to constantly deflect His shots.

Question: Do Kabbalists engage in self-reproach?

Answer: If you constantly cry, dissatisfied with your life, reproach anyone and everything, then you are dissatisfied with what the Creator has given you.

Question: Does Kabbalah view the cause of human depravity positively?

Answer: The Creator specifically did this so a person would need His help, and thus could ascend to His level.
