Love Expands This Narrow World

Laitman_712_03Question: You said that the wisdom of Kabbalah is an internal part of the Torah. Does this mean that Kabbalah refers to religion?

Answer: Due to the study of Kabbalah, a person completely changes one’s perception of reality and begins to take a different attitude to one’s familiar concepts. The Torah refers to the use of force of the Inner Light, its correction, and rise above the current perception of reality.

The fact that a person reaches the love of neighbor, takes one out of his limited and confined world into a spacious, eternal, and higher world. This technique allows a person to really begin to live in a completely new world, and not just to psychologically calm oneself. A person moves from one world to another, changes one’s organs of perception that depict one’s entire worldview.

The Wisdom Of Kabbalah Is A Wisdom For Perception Of The World

laitman_254_01Question: Why do you say that each one sees his own reality in front of him, which he portrays through his own characteristics, if all of us see the same world?

Answer: We all see one world at the moment, but each one of us can change the reality that he senses. The wisdom of Kabbalah is a method for the right perception.

I will see that basically reality is much wider than it seemed to me and that everything in it advances in a good direction. And this will not be an illusion or self-deception. To the degree that I discover the world and bring Light into my life, that is the picture that I see in front of me.

Question: Is reality itself changed or my perception?

Answer: The reality that I see exists only in my perception. From where can I know that it truly exists in a form like this outside of myself? I perceive the world according to my characteristics, but this doesn’t mean that it exists in this form objectively. If the person possessed different characteristics, he would see another world with completely different colors and shapes.

We are so used to a reality that we perceive through our five senses: seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touch that it seems real to us. But things aren’t like that.

A person is like a device with five sensors that are tuned to particular frequency ranges and he is used to living in a world like this. But if we turn the five regulators to other frequency ranges, we will see a completely different reality. Science has reached a discovery like this today, and thousands of years ago the wisdom of Kabbalah spoke about this. So the wisdom of Kabbalah (the Hebrew word for “bondage” means to “receive”) is called this because it is a wisdom for perception of the world.

Clarification Of The Unexplainable

Dr. Michael LaitmanKabbalah talks only about what’s going on inside us. The terms “Israel” and the “nations of the world” stand for our internal properties. However, we use these definitions as if we talk about corporeality. Yet, these notions never imply this realm. Rather, they refer to the internal qualities of a human being.

Kabbalists use common, plain, earthly words to describe spirituality because there are no other words in our vocabulary. Even if we saw the other realm, we would not be able to find accurate words to express our impressions. We would fail to give names to the phenomena that take place there.

If we were to write the titles of all objects in the room on post-it notes, there would be lamps, doors, windows, and bookcases since each thing has a name. If we correct our properties, we would move the wall that separates us from spirituality. We would remove the wall that hides the upper world from us, but, we still wouldn’t find the right words to describe what we actually see there.

It is impossible to find the correct words to name the forces and actions associated with the other realm. How would you explain to others what you saw in spirituality? Let’s say somebody asks you: “Please, tell me a little about what’s there! I am eager to know!” You wouldn’t be able to describe a thing!

Kabbalistic books explain the unexplainable. Kabbalists were the ones who found a solution. We all live in this world, both Kabbalists and common people. We all know this reality.

So, Kabbalists have said: “We will tell you about spirituality.” They wrote books about the spiritual dimension: The Torah, the Babylonian and Jerusalem Talmud, Mishnah, The Zohar, The Study of the Ten Sefirot. All these books are called sacred; they are not ordinary books because they describe the upper world.

However, we cannot describe spirituality using spiritual words since there are no words there. That’s why these books tell us stories as if they are happening in this world, when in fact, all of them are about the upper reality.

Spirituality is parallel to this world. It is a dimension of forces, desires, impressions, and sensations. It is a domain of feelings! However, the feelings there are not egoistic as they are here on this planet. Rather, they derive from the property of bestowal that doesn’t exist in this world. These are the sensations of love, bestowal, unity, reciprocity, only positive feelings.

The Moon Exists Only When You Look At It!

laitman_928In the News (from Lenta.ru): “The wave function is an objective reality.

“The wave function describes the state of micro particles. Connected with it are the majority of the manifestations of the quantum theory, distinguishing it from classical physics.

“The modulus squared of the psi-function determines the probability of a particle to take this or that state. It can be represented as a sum of states, and the measuring process is reduced to extracting one of the possible states.

“Scientists hold one of two opinions about the wave function:

  1. Psi-function is real, i.e., is part of an objective reality. Objectivity means that this property of the wave function has nothing to do with the human and his ideas about nature. The wave function is indifferent to what a person “thinks” about it.
  2. “The wave function is a mathematical object, introduced because of the lack of knowledge of the quantum world. That is what Einstein thought: ‘Does the Moon exist only when you look at it?’ – He said. This concept means that the wave function is only the instrument of knowledge and has no relation to the objective reality.

“The interpretation according to which the future can influence the past does not contradict scientists’ experiments.”

My Comment: Kabbalah says that NOTHING EXISTS except two: the Creator and Creation. The Creator is the desire to give, fill, love, by eternal and constant Light, that fills creation, the desire to receive: enjoy it.

It turns out that the whole picture of the world that we “see” is nothing but our internal properties that we see (feel) in front of us on a background of white light. In other words, the perceived world is our “guts,” “turned inside out,” so we could see them better and correct.

Theory And Practical Work

laitman_281_02When studying the wisdom of Kabbalah it is necessary to be very careful so that theory does not obscure the practical work. Yet there is a problem here…

The problem is that many people delve deeply into studying Kabbalah, detached from life, and they begin to juggle and manipulate the words: Here it is written this way, there in that way.

This gives nothing to a person. This is because with this he is not changed but only enjoys the mental manipulation of all kinds of facts, but he doesn’t get what each one of them represents.

He is simply playing with empty “boxes,” on which are written: “Atzilut,” “Malchut,” “Bina,” “Zeir Anpin,” the worlds of “ABYA” and the like. In this way he is not in their inner feeling, he doesn’t work with them with his emotions and characteristics.

So it is very dangerous to present Kabbalah to a person in this way because he will begin to be involved with it only artificially, without having a connection with the friends, without being involved with dissemination, without which he will simply “rot.” It is impossible to grow on your level without developing the lower level. All of spiritual development is latent in this because the chain must pass from above to below and from below to above.

The Wisdom Of Kabbalah—A Preface To The System Of Mutual Bestowal

Laitman_115_05Question: I read the The Study of the Ten Sefirot with you, but I don’t understand anything, although sometimes when I tie the definitions together into images and different connections I get some kind of scheme. Am I doing the right thing?

Answer: Imagine that you are an alien who has arrived from outer space and you are told about the relationships between people: These are hard-wired connections and not up to us who our parents will be, who we will meet, and who controls our fate. We are all closely connected in one system, like nodes in a net.

In this network we treat each other egoistically, and as a result the connection among us is minimal, and we feel it as our life (as this world). Gradually, we give up on our unfulfilled desires and on the idea that they can be filled with quality, quantity, and understanding and that they will enable us to feel anything above our life.

But it all depends on how connected we are and how good our relationships are and on how we mutually fill one another, despite the initial feeling of mutual rejection. We are incorporated in this network of bestowal and mutual love in which our only free choice, our only true action, is to fill each other despite the fact that each of us only wants to fill himself at the expense of others.

All our other actions, when we fill ourselves, are not taken into account as actions. We are punished for them, so that we will understand how hopeless they are. But we are punished subtly, so as not to deprive us of our freewill, so that we will grow wiser and understand the connection among us and will want to fulfill it by ourselves, first out of necessity and then willingly, out of love.

The authentic Kabbalah books tell us about the types of connections among us and about the way we fill each other, which is our participation in this system: how to use it so that each of us will bestow more and will fill others more. Just as there are endless connections and conditions in the relationships among us in this world, so it is in the upper system. But it is perceived in our senses , as an introduction to a new society when you are introduced to its members and their relationships.

I am an egoistic desire, a soul that wants to correct itself and which is asking the higher level, Malchut of Atzilut, for that. Malchut of Atzilut turns to Zeir Anpin with my request, and it turns to Aba and Ima, and thus the whole system is activated and spurs the power of correction, which I need, and brings it down to me. Then as a result of the power that I get, I become righteous and I can bestow actively, which means to participate in the general connection of the “society” of the upper world. I attain the significance and all the actions of this system, its thought, its plan, and its goal and gradually become like it, eternal and infinite.

On The Ocean Of Wisdom

Laitman_083Cloud Storage?

Question: Recently, we hear more and more about how to communicate with higher powers, with the information field of the universe.

One of the modern approaches that promise such a communication channel is called “channeling.” It is based, by definition, on the concept of a higher reality with which we establish contact.

By analogy, we can refer to the example of cloud storage data with remote access to its content.

This opens up a rich field for imagination, a real “virgin land,” which is cultivated in front of us.

Dozens of books have been written on this subject and it has attracted considerable interest. Is there a grain of truth in it? Are there any “clouds” of a higher order? Can I enter the password and enter into a system of global knowledge?

Answer: The place where we exist, of course, contains a huge amount of knowledge. As we are developing, we connect to this “storage,” become fueled by it and get ahead in life.

At the same time, we discover something new for ourselves, what we did not know previously. But, from an objective point of view, these phenomena are not new. They have existed in nature since the formation of the Universe or the later stages of development. We do not invent novelties, but perceive what exists.

That is why Newton compared himself to a child who is playing on the seashore, “…I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, and diverting myself in now and then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.” Such is the measure of our knowledge of the universe. All our science is tiny attempts to communicate with the ocean of wisdom.

Tunnel Vision of Our Own Nature

In fact, we know almost nothing about ourselves; we do not know the mechanism of our perception of reality. We understand only that the picture that appears before our eyes is extremely limited by our senses.

This range is so narrow that even we cannot imagine qualitatively different sensations. We would like to expand the horizons, but, by its nature, we do not just need the “supplements,” like a dog does not need a fifth leg.

Sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch restrict me by their apparent sufficiency. As a result, I see a tiny fragment of the magnificent painting imbued with infinite frequencies and infinite information. Numerous “curtains” distort even this piece before it appears in my sensation.

In fact, it is not about external reality. When I see a tree in front of my eyes, my eyes perceive not even it, but the waves, the data of which passes within me through electrical and chemical “converters,” until they outline as the form that is called a “tree.” I have no idea what is outside, outside of me, and if there is something at all or that the “tree” is a part of me.

The theme of communication with certain forces or phenomena is full of unanswered questions. The problem is that there is nothing to investigate, nothing to discuss, because we are not able to be outside of our sense organs.

Therefore, “channeling” is what is called a “wild area,” where everyone can declare what he wants and no one’s correctness is provable “by definition.”

There have been many people searching for channels of communication with the higher forces. Compared with the previous periods of prosperity, today this sphere looks modest, but still it brings revenue.

The Difficulties In The Second Restriction

laitman_249-03Question: Why do we study the details of the structure of the worlds when as students we cannot understand them?

Answer: This is called Segula (merit), a special instrument that I can activate. It operates in a special way and corrects my mind and my feelings to such an extent that I can understand what id written in the book.

First, I extract the correction from the book, and thanks to the correction, I begin to discover what the book says. But I cannot understand or feel what it says in my current mind and feelings.

There are two approaches to the study of the Kabbalistic sources: the approach of the wicked and the approach of the righteous. It is written: “the righteous shall follow them and the wicked shall fail in them.”

Comment: I cannot even force myself to concentrate on the text.

Answer: The problem starts at the point where the second restriction (Tzimtzum Bet) begins. Until the second restriction, the material is absorbed quite easily, but then a person is usually confused and those who are more worthy of the wisdom of Kabbalah are more confused.

Those who are about to reach the great corrections of their soul feel totally confused and cannot perceive this material. It is like wanting to insert a ball into a triangle or a triangle into a square. It cannot be done since they are totally incompatible.

The first restriction (Tzimtzum Aleph) is very simple: There is an upper force, a lower force, and a Masach (screen) that connects the two. This is one simple linear formula with a constant factor: x = ky, when k is the Masach, y is the Light, and x is the vessel. Everything is very simple and clear.

But when you reach the second restriction, you don’t understand. This isn’t a mental problem. After all, if we studied mechanically, as in some material systems, we would easily perceive it.

There are no difficulties: one system connects to another system and we learn about what happens between these two systems. There are many similar systems in mechanics that are even much more intricate.

But because there is the Light that Reforms in this study, it doesn’t allow you to learn just abstractly. After all, your soul is now being configured to receive the Light that Reforms, not dry information.

On the other hand, there are people who study this in theory and everything seems clear to them. Therefore it is said: “it isn’t the wise who learns.” The main thing is getting closer to correction.

Only if you activate yourself in the group and in dissemination will you feel a new attitude and approach open up for you regarding the second restriction. Otherwise you learn it purely superficially. You will know what is written there perfectly, but without an internal change.

When you correct yourself and change internally you will know all these things because it will be your inner structure. You will simply understand that it is so and not otherwise because the Surrounding Light will connect your vessels that way. This is called studying the Torah.

The Angel Fights

laitman_628_3A Good Angel

Question: Is it possible to somehow “make” a “good angel” that will protect me?

Answer: Yes, you can do it if you start changing and establishing good relationships with others. In this case, you are activating “good angels,” which will be around you and you will be protected.

Question: How can I contact these “good angels”?

Answer:  This is your own strength. You find them inside yourself, replacing the negativity towards the others that is inherent within you.

Each of us comes from a broken vessel from the shattering of the “sin of the Tree of Knowledge.” That’s why we have 613 corrupt, selfish desires. We must re-build these desires to the best of our ability and improve them as much as possible.

So far, we are unable to identify, list, or find each base egoistic desire separately. However, with the help of the wisdom of Kabbalah, we can learn how to relate to each other in a positive friendly way.

Getting to Paradise

By acting so, you change your reality. In other words, all of a sudden we begin sensing that we live in a wonderful world, in real paradise! In order to get to paradise, we don’t have to die. A state of being in paradise doesn’t have anything to do with corporeal life or death. In order to get to the “Garden of Eden,” we have to recreate it ourselves. Each one of us is capable of doing so.

We must transform our bad, egoistic powers into bestowal. At least, we should try not to hurt our neighbors. Even though we are yet incapable of giving them our love, the state of “positive neutrality” allows us to rise to the level of paradise that in Kabbalah is called Bina, desire of mercy (Hafetz Hesed): I don’t need anything from anybody, nor do I want to hurt anybody.

Thus, I transform my “bad angels” to “good ones.” I am full of desires and thoughts that constantly come and go. I have to permanently maintain a major aspiration: converting my desires from evil to benevolent. At the same time, the scale of what’s good or bad should be based solely on my attitude to my neighbors.

In order to transform bad “angels” to good ones, meaning to re-orient our egoistic impulses and make them beneficial for others, we have to trigger the upper force. For that, we have to work in a special group of Kabbalists who interact with the Light since it is the force that changes our selfish urges from negative to positive.

Spiritual Firewall

Question: Is it possible to control a general system, “a network of angels”?

Answer: There are people who can easily influence you. They are capable of scaring you or using you in a certain way.

General systems in which we all are interconnected as one whole act this way. This phenomenon allows each person to impact others.

As an example, an elementary school teacher who has a big influence over his students can cause various sensations in them. He can either agitate or calm them down. It depends on the difference between the conditions he creates for them that in their eyes are either psychologically advantageous or disadvantageous. Generally speaking, we are talking about materialistic psychology. Kabbalah is its continuation.

Question: So, does it mean that I still have to be cautious of these things? Is there anybody out there who is capable of influencing the nodes in the general system that are directly connected with me?

Answer: Of course, there are people who by nature possess tremendous powers. We can bring totally negative examples such as Hitler or Stalin. Besides, some individuals really possess the ability to predict the future. Through them, the upper force activates a general historic process. They never act on their own. Moreover, they often feel that they are being used without having any freedom of will.

On the other hand, we can defend ourselves from evil influences by activating benevolent forces. In this case, we form a “protective shell” around us.

Our security depends on the degree of positivism we bring to others. No matter how much “poison,” hatred, or filth is around us, we remain out of their reach since we rise to the level of Hafetz Hesed and do not wish bad things to others. All we aspire to is bestowal. It is our “secure firewall.”

laitman_232_05The Evil Eye of Egoism

Question: Can using the powers that are associated with the wisdom of Kabbalah be harmful in any way? Can we hurt anyone by implementing these powers, let’s say, “jinx or curse” anyone?

Answer: No, never! These forces are always benevolent. We want to become better and use positive energy to influence the Light’s system. The latter impacts us and corrects our ego.

If our intentions are bad, we won’t be capable of influencing the system of the Light since we are completely opposite to it. All we can do is mercenarily (selfishly) use the structure that is built-in us. Accordingly, if we use wicked, egoistic powers against the still, vegetative, and animate nature or people, our actions would be called “the evil eye.” Our desire to profit at the expense of others or simply to hurt someone is the real “curse.”

The wisdom of Kabbalah explains that there are two options:

  • We act to the detriment of others
  • We act for the benefit of others.

We implement the first option “by default”; a powerful negative desire can actually damage others. Let’s say, I want someone to feel bad. This desire activates my wicked connection and amplifies negative energy.

The Kingdom of Angels

Question: Let’s say, one person wants bad to happen to me, but another one wishes me good. What will come out of this?

Answer: The result depends on many factors, but they will have two kinds of effects on you, both good and bad at the same time. Events that take place in our lives are the results of the confrontation among numerous forces that act within a general network. These forces can be named differently, but often they are called “angels.” No matter how they are named, the essence remains the same.

It’s not about our belief in “guardian angels”; rather, it’s about the scientific study of actual forces that act in nature. The wisdom of Kabbalah explores them as other scientific disciplines study atomic structure, climate, etc. One way or the other, all sciences engage in exploring numerous forces.

So, an “angel” in Kabbalah is “a force.” For example, there is an “angel” who attracts objects to Earth. It is called gravity.

The forces of the still, vegetative, and animate nature, both material and spiritual, are called “angels” (Malachim). The word derives from “Malchut,” which means a specific power (a Kingdom). According to their functions, “angels” can be quite different. They have numerous titles including “demons” and “spirits.” All of them represent our properties and basic internal qualities.

A human soul is higher than angels. Thus, a human being (Adam) is higher than “angels” because people are capable of changing if they engage in self-correction and develop above their basic, built-in limitations.
