Question: Let’s suppose that some community is able to unite and organize into an integral system. How will this reflect on the world? Will everyone else be able to follow in their footsteps?

Answer: The world will have no other choice. Everyone can see what we are facing now. We have reached a state where the nature of this world has become integral and global and urgently demands our respective participation.

The still, vegetative, and animate levels of nature are locked into a single system, and they have no problems between them since nature controls them strictly without any freedom of choice from their side.

Yet, nature treats us differently. It forces us through strict influences to realize that we are acting incorrectly, egoistically, i.e., the vector is towards oneself (alone), while we need to build a correct system of interaction between us that will resemble nature itself: completely closed, integral, and global.

As soon as we enter that state, nature will begin to treat us in a positive manner, showing us how to interact and keep going forward. Everything depends on the unity between us.

Baal HaSulam, the newspaper “The Nation”: We humans are social beings, because we cannot satisfy our vital needs without assistance from others.

This is actually typical of man, as opposed to the animate level. Animals can usually take care of themselves and succeed in life.

It says that “a day old calf is called an ox.” Animal cubs develop very quickly and are ready for life after a couple of weeks. They can manage by themselves and live independently. This is true for all living things except for man. A human baby usually cannot manage and live without the help of grownups during the first 10-15 years of his life.

That is why the involvement of many people in a child’s life is a precondition for its existence. Therefore individuals were compelled to unite into a single community called a “people” or a “nation.” Each engages in one’s own trade, some in agriculture, and some in artisanship. They connect through trading of their products. Thus, the nations were made each with its unique nature, both in material life and in cultural life. Observing life, we see that the process of a nation is just as the process of an individual.

The functioning of each person within the nation is like the functioning of the organs in a single body. There must be complete harmony among the organs of each person—the eyes see and the brain is assisted by them to think and to consult, and then the hands work or fight, and the legs walk. Thus, each stands on its guard and awaits its role. Similarly, the organs that comprise the body of the nation—counselors, employers, workers, deliverers, etc.—should function in complete harmony among them. This is necessary for the nation’s normal life and for a secured existence.

Question: But why don’t I feel this harmony in our society?

Answer: This harmony doesn’t exist, but Baal HaSulam writes about what should be. A society has to exist like a healthy body in which all the organs operate in coordination with one another and in general harmony sustaining the body in the optimal manner. This is also how the connections between people of the same nation or the same country should be so that each one functions and works and thus provides society with what he can and receives from the society to the extent that the society can give him. Then we will lead a good life.

If a society wishes to be healthy, it has to keep the laws that operate in a healthy body. Everything depends on the connection between the organs or the parts of the nation. If the connections are bad, the body is ill and feels worse and worse until the connections disappear completely and the body dies. The same thing happens in the society: if bad connections operate in it, the society becomes ill until it disappears in various ways. Human history teaches us that when the connections between members of a certain society are weak, that society is doomed to extinction. This nation simply steps down from the stage of history. This is the reason that we have to urgently take care of the health of our nation.

In the future, the world will recognize the evil spirit into which it is sinking, humanity will discover that it has no means for correcting the situation, and the nations of the world will also feel in their subconscious that the people of Israel have a solution. From here is the inner drive to boycott and the desire to blame us for all of their problems.

The basis for this is latent in every person, in every people, in every organization, and in every nation. It is impossible to deceive ourselves about the illusion of the dark period that must be passed through on the way to brighter times. As it continues, it will only get worse. I have been talking already about this for many years. The world is sinking into a general crisis that encompasses education, culture, the economy, and politics, and now we are standing on the threshold of tremendous and incessant pressure from all sides. We feel ourselves as a fortress that is under siege, and our only weapon is unity.

This is possible by means of the Kabbalistic method that teaches us how to connect with each other in tens, in hundreds, in thousands, and in millions. All of the people of Israel must go through this integral or Kabbalistic study. It is not that important what we call it. At the time of our formation and coming into existence, we obligated ourselves to be as one person with one heart. If we consolidate this way between us, all the higher forces that manage us immediately will begin to soften and mollify, and we will feel changes without pause.

Let’s begin to unite in circles in the right way and then immediately in our relationships within the nation, in our relationships with our neighbors, including Hamas and the like, and in the relationships with all the nations of the world that all will begin to soften. So, it seems obvious what kind of a weapon we have in our hands. It is not deadly, but good. It brings life. It is a weapon for the struggle with our egoism, with our nature, and not with people.

So, I turn to the people of Israel. Let us accept the approaching stages with an understanding that they are designed to awaken us to the right development, to unity. If we would begin to realize it until reaching “Love your neighbor as yourself,” then immediately what has been attained between us would spread all over the world through underground connections unseen by the eye, through which we are connected with each other, and the good results of our efforts will not be late in being discovered.

Let Us Understand Our Purpose and Our Duty, and Accomplish It

First of all, we must explain to the Jewish people that the boycott at this stage is only the beginning of the pressure, both corporeal and spiritual, that awaits us. Ahead are much more severe situations as described by the prophets of Israel, and all of this, then, is to oblige us to take correct action as the people of Israel living in their own land and to set a good example to the world.

Then we will understand that anti-Semitism is only there so that the people of Israel would take upon themselves the mission to achieve brotherly love and show everyone how to apply the method of unity through the Light that Reforms.

After all, no one else has this method and cannot have it. The Light that Reforms goes out to the world only through the people of Israel. That is why this nation is called a “kingdom of priests” and “a holy nation.” When the nations of the world accept the basics of unity from us, the first spiritual quantum of Light, their attitude toward us will immediately, diametrically change. As the prophet Isaiah said, they will carry the sons of Israel on their shoulders and bring them to the temple in Jerusalem.

Only, it will take a decision—when we will provide a true example of unity that our world needs so much? In today’s global and integral reality, we cannot survive if we do not unite with each other in an equal society with entirely good relationships. In such a society, people become related to each other, help each other, and maintain relations of friendship and love.

How do we achieve this in a world that is opposed to such aspirations? This work isn’t up to us, but to the Upper Light.

“The situation should be cleared not with the British students’ union BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) and not with the UN or the EU, but with independent organizations that engage in incitement and demonization of our state. No concessions whether territorial, political or ideological can change the situation. If Israel itself is afraid of its Jewish character, the lack of character turns into lack of basic principles.

“The boycott can destroy Israel. If Israel, under international pressure,  will start to take the country under the guise of an agreement, it will destroy itself faster than  any economic and political sanctions. And there will always be a new reason for a boycott.”

My Comment: All is true, but there is no solution! Conceding to anti-Semites is not the solution to the situation. The reason for anti-Semitism is the natural outlook that the Jews are responsible for all the problems in the world. This is also what the Torah says: “Any calamity that comes to the world is for Israel.” We have to listen to what our sages said. After all, they tell us how we should act. The special force that fills our world with peace and abundance is a result of our unity. The hatred towards us appears to the extent that we draw away from one another. See the “Introduction to The Book of Zohar,” Items 66-71.

Question: Was the great Kabbalist Baal HaSulam far ahead of his time when he wrote the article, “The Last Generation,” in the beginning of the 20^th century about humanity inevitably achieving a communistic society?

Answer: A Kabbalist isn’t ahead of his time. Rather, he sees everything from end to end. For him time doesn’t exist! He simply rises to the next level from which it is possible to understand what is happening with us. Actually, the wisdom of Kabbalah makes it possible for us to rise to a higher level where we clearly see that we need to re-educate ourselves, how to do it, and what we must reach. It accurately teaches by which path it is possible to reach the goal so that we will work correctly on ourselves.

Question: In the article, “The Last Generation,” Baal HaSulam prepared an answer for all questions. It is left to us to research this article and realize it together. We hope that this will help us to find the answer to the question, “What can we expect?”

Answer: What is waiting for us is what we choose. People must understand the necessity of developing a mutual connection, which increases the sensitivity of a person to his environment, and become like the general system about which the wisdom of Kabbalah speaks. Even if a person doesn’t see this system, with the help of special training and special exercises called roundtables or discussion circles, he can feel that this reveals a new positive force on the levels of the still, vegetative, and animate.

In nature, plus and minus are balanced, so all of its objects act instinctively, accommodating to the influence of nature while in a human being there is only one negative force. So, he needs to discover the positive force of nature, balance the negative force through it, and go forward in the balance and harmony of the middle line. Then, he is called Adam (Man), while, now, he is on the level of the beast.

Judging from Monday’s broadcast, Channel 2 has yet to get over the election results. We must understand that the  upper leadership awakens people’s negative attitude toward us because we, for our part, do not generate anything positive.

We need to become a “kingdom of priests” and a “holy nation.” Baal HaSulam speaks about this in the articles “Matan Torah (The Giving of the Torah),” “The Arvut (Mutual Guarantee),” and others. This is our destiny, but we do not execute it.

To date, the process of the formation of modern Israel has been exhausted. We haven’t created a nation that through its design would be consistent with the concept of “the people of Israel.” As a result, our country cannot be called the “nation of Israel.” In regard to culture and education, we do not correlate with what should have been.

Therefore, in recent years, the external pressure has been growing. It makes no difference who is behind it, whether it is the American president, the prime minister of France or England, a student organization, or our Arab neighbors.

Moreover, we recently have been feeling the pressure from all sides. Today, it has come to the fact that no country, no people, and no party will raise its voice for Israel. This is a clear sign of the depleted amount of time that has been allocated to us to truly organize ourselves to become what we were to become: “a light to the nations.”

In addition, we can only be a light to the nations on condition that we unite among ourselves. After all, our nation, unlike others, was not founded on a genetic basis. Our nation is a group of people united by ideology rather than biology.

It is necessary to take into account what is said in the Torah and what Kabbalists say: We have a special role, and we need to implement it properly, first of all, with regard to the people in the country of Israel.

Question: Europe’s hostile attitude toward Israel these days scares me. In recent years there is a real boycott of Israel all around. So much so that even FIFA threatened to ban Israel from the World Cup.

Why don’t they want us? Where does all this hatred stem from that has even reached the field of sports? After all, sports always has brought nations together.

Answer: This negative attitude has been felt for quite a long time. Jews usually are not welcome anywhere. But the problem is that we don’t want to admit this. After all, if we recognized it and wanted to solve this problem, we would explore the root of this hatred. The wisdom of Kabbalah tells us that anti-Semitism stems from the fact that Jews have the key for the good and happy life throughout the world.

This is especially evident today when we learn more and more about our world and to what extent it is integrally connected and how we all are connected to one another. In this integral system, we need a special plan, the right education, that will help us establish good relations between us. Otherwise, we simply will devour one another.

Humanity is discovering the new law of integrality in the world, which means complete mutual interdependence, and humanity is despaired from the helplessness it is facing. All the systems that we built in the last three centuries don’t work.

We knew how to live in a world that was made of individualists where everyone lived on his own. But today we are discovering that we are totally dependent on one another. It is impossible to move without touching others, and the ties between nations are so tight that we need another style of life. We even cannot establish friendly relations within the family; everyone is in a conflict with others, children, parents, etc. Everything is falling apart because there is no force of connection between us, the glue that can keep us together. This force comes through a special connection according to the wisdom of Kabbalah.

The Israeli nation was established by a group of Abraham’s students that he gathered in ancient Babylon and taught how to connect and unite with one another. However, thousands of years later, the Israeli nation has lost the principles of all of Israel are friends, love thy neighbor as thyself, and the mutual guarantee of being as one man in one heart.

Only the words remain, but we don’t feel any connection between us. When we returned to the land of Israel, we didn’t build ourselves as the nation of Israel must be—united as one man.

All the nations are angry at us precisely because we are not connected by the right ties and therefore don’t set an example for others. If the Israeli nation were to establish good relations among its own people, we would feel how happiness and prosperity flow into the world, the good force of unity. This means that the Israeli nation will become a light to the nations of the world by setting an example for everyone as to how they should connect. This is the reason that, now the most important thing is to attain unity among the Israeli nation. Then, the entire world will want to follow this example. If the world demanded that Israel set an example of this method of unity every day, we would have to learn how to be that example.

Nature ties us all together, but we must turn these ties into good ties on our own. The mission of the Israeli nation is to teach all the nations of the world how to do it. The source of anti-Semitism is actually the fact that Israel doesn’t reveal the method of unity to the world.

If the nation of Israel united, all the nations of the world would feel it and learn from us. This means to be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. The world’s attitude toward Israel would change immediately from hatred to love and gratitude for the good example. People would come to us to learn how to attain unity.

Before our eyes a global phenomenon is gaining momentum, a new front against Israel—different organizations are boycotting Israel.

The boycott covers various spheres such as culture and economics. The organization that sponsors such initiatives is called BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) specifically founded in order to put pressure on the State of Israel.

A few recent examples:

– in Australia shop owners were threatened to be killed if they continued to sell merchandise imported from Israel.

– the British Association of Journalists’ was called to boycott Israeli goods and to impose sanctions on Israel.

– in The Hague measures are being taken to start an investigation of Israel’s “war crimes” in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

– in North America the postal workers union, universities, and campuses initiated a boycott of Israel.

I see this as a natural logical and legal phenomenon. The general trend is that eventually all the nations will turn against us because we are not performing our duty in the world.

As Baal HaSulam writes: We were given a certain length of time to organize and to build a nation so that we will be able to fulfill our goal. Kabbalists explain that we have to open people’s eyes so that they will understand what world in which we live and what the purpose of existence is.

Our task is to set an example of unity that allows us to discover the upper force in the connection between us. But we are not doing that. As a result, humanity suffers because the upper force isn’t revealed, and instead it sinks into difficult states that continuously replace one another and only increase the negativity. People feel in their subconscious that it all happens because of the Israeli nation. Today they blame the State of Israel and in the past when it didn’t exist, they blamed the Jews who were scattered all over the world.
