Israelis And Jews

Laitman_421_01Question: Is there a difference between Israelis and Jews?

Answer: Yes, and a very big difference! Israelis are those who live in this country, even though they could be against it, cursing its existence or envious of those living abroad. Israelis are a special breed of Jews, who were born and grew up here, and they feel free. Those who come to Israel from other countries don’t feel that way. They feel deprived in some way.

But native Israelis are not deprived in any way really, and even if they feel that the world puts  pressure on them, they don’t accept it—the sensation of inner freedom remains with them. They are not afraid or ashamed of anything that a Jew who returns from a country of exile would be compelled to hide. There are great differences between them in their approaches to life and the world.

A Jew who is a born Israeli is more natural and open, and appears to be naive. On the other hand, those who were born and lived in other countries  are constantly performing all sorts of calculations: this we can do, this we cannot, and to what extent. Local people do not have such calculations; they are more direct.

Nonetheless, the new generation of those born in Israel but raised by parents who were immigrants are not yet completely devoid of the exile. Therefore, they are more complex on the inside. They have a greater inner need for self-assertiveness than Israelis. They understand and feel a need to possess knowledge, power, achievements, and are not satisfied with high school education. They need diplomas, titles, and awards. All of this was passed on to them from their parents since for a Jew growing up in other countries knowledge was their only luggage.

The Truth About The Boycott Of Israel, Part 7

laitman_936Simply open the tap: This is the reason for anti-Semitism, because of which people all over the world instinctively feel hostility toward us. However, likewise, if we change, then the hostility instinctively will change into sympathy.

Everything depends on the connection between us, for this is what specifically conveys the abundance through us to the world. We are a conduit—a transitional link. Through the quality of our mutual connection, we apparently open or close the tap in the middle of the pipe that passes from above to below.

And so, we don’t need to deal with the problems of the peoples. It is enough to open the tap between us, to unite, and then all good and abundance will begin to stream downward through the pipe. It is impossible to change this structure in any way, because this has been our fate for thousands of years.

The World Management: A Circle Or A Vector?

Laitman_931-01Baal HaSulam, “Building the Future Society”: Jewry must give the nations something new; it is what they expect from the return of Israel to their land. It is not other teachings, as in that we never innovated and were always their disciples. Rather, it is the wisdom of religion, justice, and peace. In this, most nations are our disciples, and this wisdom is attributed to us alone.

Question: We have long felt and understood that governments have lost the power to govern and that the world is nearing chaos. The ego has fully erupted and it lacks the necessary restraining force.

Answer: Governments have never run the world, but this is becoming increasingly more evident since the world has become integral and closed. On the other hand, governments, being individualistic, are not a closed integral circle, and so we encounter the contradiction between a circle and a vector. It is impossible to run the world by a vector today. It is impossible to knowingly affect something specific in the world since it is all mutually connected.

Therefore, when you affect something with the intention to do good, this action can lead to a positive effect, but because the system was locked 40 to 60 years ago, you can cause harm to the entire system when you affect a certain part, and then the effect can be very unpleasant. We don’t know where and why this happens. In other words, the government doesn’t know that if it affects a certain place positively, there can be a negative effect in another place, and they will not understand why.

A person needs to be on the level of this system in order to manage it today, to have the upper mind, which means to be a Kabbalist, and not just an ordinary Kabbalist. This means that we don’t speak about the local system but about the global system. If something is wrong in one country, it is reflected not only in that country but all over the world as well because the system has become analog, closed, round, and the entire world is connected.

Our planet is a small village. Today, we cannot affect something specifically and receive accurate concrete outcomes. We cannot study society or the world because everything in these systems is mutually connected, and we know nothing about that. The world is developing continuously in many aspects and is suddenly locked, while we, on the other hand, cannot perceive this locked state with our current attributes, desires, and thoughts in order to incorporate it inside us and study it. We cannot build a model of the integral world inside us. In order to do that, we must ascend to the level of the new world, which means to build a model in which we connect and unite.

Ten or a hundred people can do that. It makes no difference. If they succeeded in uniting into such a general common whole and understand how the integral system is built, they could affect the world in a positive manner. This is actually the kind of unity Baal HaSulam calls for. Then everything we do in this world will have a positive effect.

Question: What does “Judaism must give the nation something new” mean?

Answer: It is all about spiritual definitions and discernments. The method of unity called the wisdom of Kabbalah is also called the wisdom of truth and the Light of the Torah. This means that it is a manual that enables people to ascend to the integral level and to connect. The people who are guided by this method and who try to attain unity are called “Yehudi,” stemming from the Hebrew word, “Yihud” (unity), or the Jews, stemming from the Hebrew word “Ever” (to transcend). This is why Abraham was called Abraham-Ivry, the Hebrew. Israel means following the direction of Yashar El (Straight to God), straight to the upper force, the attribute of love, bestowal, and mutual unity. All this refers to the one and only action of uniting and seeing the world through our unity. Then we all will relate to the world properly and receive the right responses from it.

The Truth About The Boycott Of Israel, Part 6

laitman_600_04Question: Will counter-initiatives help us in the struggle against the boycott?

Answer: What can we say? We are good children; we don’t deserve to be treated like this? People instinctively feel inside that we are the source of troubles. Some British student, who doesn’t know why he doesn’t like us, hates us. It simply seems to him that evil comes from us.

Question: How exactly would our unity change the situation?

Answer: Baal HaSulam wrote about this at the end of the “Introduction to The Book of Zohar.” Everything that is happening with the people of Israel extends to the nations of the world. For whether we want it or not, we are in contact with the source of the upper force. So if we accommodate to this power, then abundance will reach us from above and from us it will pass to all the peoples. And this will change their attitude to being friendly, more or less. If we give shape to good mutual relationships between us, creating a certain cohesion with the source of the Light, with the upper force, then we can really “pour” the positive and good force onto humanity, and then certainly the people will love us.

It is yet to come.

On the other hand, if we don’t unite appropriately, this will bring distance from the connection with the higher source and then we will convey the negative attitude to them and not the positive attitude. From us will flow emptiness and nothing more. In this case, the people will feel subconsciously that we have not responded to their inner expectations.

Unity – Protection From All Evil

laitman_943Baal HaSulam, “The Last Generation”: It is written, “The voice of the people is the voice of the Almighty.” Indeed, this means that according to reality, they have chosen the least of all evils, and to that extent they always follow the good path. However, of course we must change reality so they can accept the utterly complete path. And it is true that the power of keeping in the masses in general chooses for them a way according to the situation. For this reason, once they have corrupted the interpretation of Torah and Mitzvot [commandments], they have become rebellious. However, it is a sacred duty to find a true interpretation in society, and then it will be to the contrary: The power of keeping in the masses will coerce the keeping of Torah and Mitzvot.

If a society connects correctly within it, then it unites together and becomes a single organization, a single entity, a single force, a single property of mutual love. Specifically, the correct unity arouses the revelation of the higher force that is hidden in us, a characteristic of full bestowal and love called the Creator.

Unity protects us from our own self-interest! Every harmful force is within us. If we are directed against each other, if we don’t want to connect together, then we make it possible for our egoism to emerge, to develop within us, and to be revealed outside of us as external pressure in the form of all kinds of haters. We seemingly project them onto some kind of screen outside of us, and it seems to us that these are criminals, fascists, terrorists, drug pushers, murderers, and so forth. But this is in fact the projection of our inner characteristics; we haven’t “locked” ourselves onto love for each other and we have allowed them to develop freely. So now they apply pressure on us from the outside.

Only through our internal correction is it possible to balance this system and be released from the external evil.

The Election Is Over, But The Choice Remains

A Nation United By A Common Idea

Dr. Michael LaitmanQuestion: Where will the future society initially be founded?

Answer: Such a society must be founded in Israel by the Jewish people and those who join them. History shows us that this is a special nation that has already partly fulfilled the system of unity after the exodus from Egypt and for thousands of years since the receiving of the Torah until the destruction of the Second Temple. This nation has already been in this state.

Before the receiving of the Torah 500-600 years ago, some of the people in Babylon left it led by Abraham; they went through Egypt and underwent different events in becoming the nation of Israel. At first they were a small group of people who belonged to different tribes and sects who agreed to live under the condition of “love thy neighbor as thyself.”

Question: What does this agreement mean: is it recognition, an understanding, that there is no other choice? What pushed this group to decide to agree to such unity?

Answer: Several factors are involved here, which the wisdom of Kabbalah tells us about. The first and major factor is called Reshimo (recorded data), when people feel internally that they wish to attain the meaning of life, not of the corporeal earthly life but of the existence of the whole universe. This is the reason that such people get together and these are the people that Abraham called to follow him. They were not few, actually several thousands. Abraham led them to the land of Canaan and as thy advanced towards it they become increasingly more united and thus fulfilled the method of unity. This is how he founded a new nation that was not one of all the other nations in the world.

Basically there are 70 nations in the world. One may argue that there are three times as many countries in the world, but it makes no difference. It is about the roots of the nations, which are basically 70. The nation of Israel is an exception because it isn’t managed by the principle of corporeal physical existence but by the principle of the mutual spiritual connection between its people. This mutual connection raises people above all the corporeal differences and contradictions and connects them according to another virtue: complete mutual cooperation for the sake of revealing the attribute of love and bestowal among them.

Jewish Anti-Semitism, Part 2: Escape From Ourselves

Laitman_079_02Question: If there is a subconscious demand, inherent among the nations of the world that the Jews should provide them with a good future, why don’t the Jewish people themselves understand their inherent problem ?

Answer: The complaints are rooted in the nations of the world because without us they cannot attain happiness. They feel that the Jewish people cause them evil because what they deserve is not passing through to them. This feeling is even familiar among those who have never come in contact with Jews. For example, the Koreans hate Israel even though there is no logical explanation for it.

On the other hand, the Jews don’t know their mission. It isn’t taught to them; it isn’t explained to them. They are just trying to avoid trouble, and in the meantime they are escaping from their mission, from their obligation toward the entire world, an escape with which cannot be agreed with. The Kabbalists secretly transmitted knowledge about the role of the people for hundreds of years, and now the time has come to talk about it between ourselves and  the entire world.

Jewish Anti-Semitism, Part 1: Our Own Hangmen

Laitman_509Question: Why do so many Jews stand behind the organization of the boycott against Israel, including Israelis?

Answer: Within the Jewish people, according to its ego that rises above others, lays an impulse to be detached from their Jewish identity. As a result of this, people in whom this drive exists particularly strongly want to demonstrate to everyone that they are the opposite, that they are concerned for “the good of all peoples,” that they are not Israelis.

There were similar examples in Hitler’s Germany an in American leadership. It is a well-known that a ship of Jewish refugees from Europe attempted to escape from death in the concentration camps and reached the United States. At that time, a Jew who was close to the American president advised him not to accept them. As a result, the ship was sent back, and the people perished in the gas chambers. This happened more than once. And here we need to understand that it is natural that it is specifically Jews who foment anti-Semitism all over the world.

Question: What is natural about this?

Answer: If we don’t receive the right education, the lack of internal orientation leads some to the opposite, egoistic end of the spectrum. It is not by chance that many American Jews are directed against Israel and want to sever all ties with our nation. They prefer to assimilate among the local population and become exclusively Americans. I saw this recently at a symposium of American Jewish organizations in Washington.

This is our nature. This is the inner root of our people that wants to escape its destiny, and its destiny is to show the entire world an example of good connection and unity that solves all problems. As long as we don’t do this, the nations will come to us with complaints without their understanding that the root cause is themselves.

Throughout the entire exile, the hatred toward Jews and anti-Semitism counteracted the tendency in our people toward division. So, if the pressure of the outside forces weakened, we ourselves would retreat from the burden of the “Jews,” and nothing would have remained of us. “Really, why should I be a Jew? Why should I suffer? What is the benefit of everyone hating me? It is better to disappear and forget everything.”

A Patent For Happiness That Is Open To Everyone

laitman_944Question: You say that the role of the Israeli nation is to unite and to set an example to the whole world, but won’t this unity and the resulting success in the economy antagonize our enemies even more?

Answer: Unity is the only thing we should accomplish and all the nations will welcome it gladly and gratefully. Positive unity can never harm the world. By uniting we fulfill the law of the upper nature and therefore cannot invoke any harmful effects.

What is more, by uniting we lock the general system into one symbiotic relationship: the still, vegetative, animate nature, and mankind. All of nature becomes one harmonious connected whole. This is the only thing the world lacks.

The modern global crisis stems from the fact that all humanity is mutually connected but at the same time people hate one another. Therefore we have no time to stall; we must fulfill our unity and the world will become balanced. Our connection and the love we feel for one another will unite us all. Everything depends on education. We don’t need much money and resources to achieve that. We only need to educate the nation according to the principle of unity, and the wisdom of Kabbalah gives us this method.

Question: What will the united Israeli nation be like?

Answer: Everyone will suddenly wish to have more or less the same standard of living and the same responsibilities. We will work only for our basic necessities and will not produce things for which there is no need, except for making a profit.

We will dedicate all the free time we will have to strengthening our unity, and thus will begin to discover the upper world, the level of nature in which we exist even outside our bodies. We will discover a world that is above our egoism, the upper spiritual world, and we will feel it as real as the world we live in now.

We will discover such internal connections between us through which we will begin to discover nature; we will find out that we are all connected and that each one feels everyone else. The feeling of this general network that ties us all is called the revelation of the Creator to man, the revelation of the general force of nature that governs our life.

Let’s at least try to listen to what The Book of Zohar and the wisdom of Kabbalah tell us about the basis of the creation and what they advise in order to solve the problems of the people and the whole world. They can all be solved by the simple unity of people.

We cannot unite only because we don’t know this simple patent, but if we accept it and fulfill it we will discover how simple and accessible it is.

The Truth About The Boycott Of Israel, Part 5

Laitman_182_02Here, it follows that the boycott is to our benefit. It brings us closer to unity because otherwise, without unity, the people of Israel would simply not be. They wouldn’t exist.

The boycott is a clear sign of what we need to rebuild, the people and the nation, such that we would be compatible with the name “Israel,” which means Yashar El (Straight to the Creator). I am not justifying those who are organizing the boycott. I am looking at the general process through which we need to pass. Our people could have started the unification even before the boycott.

We have talked about this for years, but we haven’t been heard us. It could be that, now under the new conditions, they will hear us, and if not, then without a doubt the boycott will become stronger, and we will need to establish mutual connections under much more difficult conditions because it simply is possible to lock us within the borders of the nation and prevent any outside support. It is enough to make the boycott legitimate, and it will be impossible to ignore it. For example, if the European Union on higher levels would make the appropriate decision, then all of the European nations would have to obey it.

The same thing affects the United Nations, UNESCO, and the rest of the international organizations as well. In this way, all of those who help Israel today and maintain contact with it would turn their backs on us under pressure from the rest, and then we would be left with nothing, nothing with which to fight, and nothing to eat. We would feel ourselves under siege here.
