Let’s go into more details of the period of the destruction of the First Temple. In essence, it was a descent from the level of love, the obliteration of the “Temple of Love” among people.

Previously, all twelve tribes of Israel observed the principle of “loving their neighbors as themselves.” Then, this notion collapsed. As a result, ten tribes out of twelve vanished. In other words, they were spread throughout the world.

Formerly, they existed at the level of “loving their neighbors.” After their descent to a lower level, they had nothing to do in the land of Israel since they were no longer connected with the general desires that had to be corrected for the sake of reaching other levels. The two tribes were quite enough to reach the lowest degree and stay at this level.

Let’s put it this way: all twelve tribes fell from the level of love to the lowest degree. The difference between these two steps actually comprises the ten tribes. That’s why they vanished.

Afterward, they led humanity towards the contemporary period: the ultimate dead end, the crisis that nowadays embraces the entire world.

Question: What do you mean by “they led”?

Answer: Many key historic characters came from the ten tribes. After ascertaining this fact, people will blame the Jews for “spoiling” everything. They will accuse them of purposeful guidance of innocent humanity towards the global crisis throughout history.

Question: Is it true that all leaders who directed the most significant and large-scale historical processes and influenced them come from the ten tribes?

Answer: Yes, it is true. The majority of them are simply a part of the ten tribes.

Question: Do they still run humanity to the crisis, the deadlock we are currently in?

Answer: Yes.

Question: What happened with the other two tribes?

Answer: They fell from the level of the First Temple. It was the reason why they lost the war with Babylonians, their “neighbors” who were ruled by Nebuchadnezzar. After he conquered the Jews, he took some of them into captivity and left some in the land of Israel.

Only a very small number of the Jewish people returned and re-connected with their brothers later. So, the two tribes started to build the next temple.

Question: Do they still have a spark living in them?

Answer: Not just a spark! They never hit the very bottom. They fell from the level of “loving their neighbors” to the level of a good connection among them, a so called “level of Hassadim” which in essence is about “not harming each other,” establishing good relationships and being courteous with their neighbors: “I am not against you; you are not confronting me.” This is also a spiritual level since it is built above the ego.

That’s why after the Jews returned from Babylon they built the Second Temple, which was constructed under the guidance and direct supervision of the Babylonian tsar Cyrus, Esther’s son. It’s a “twisted” story of “family” relationships…

Animal Relationships

Plants do not have individual freedom. Therefore, social relationships of plants are limited. We extend our study to the next natural stage of development – animate.

Animals are organisms that make up one of the kingdoms of nature; in contrast to plants, they consume ready organic compounds, are active, mobile. (sbio. Info, Project “Biology)

As follows from the definition, animals are mobile and active. This cannot but affect the relationship between individual members and between whole groups of the animal kingdom.

Let’s look at the major social unit of wildlife – a pack, flock, or school.

A pack, flock, or school are systematic, structured groups of mammals, fish or birds, usually of the same kind, that are in a similar biological condition, actively maintaining mutual contact and coordinating their actions.

A pack consists of individuals who perform a number of important vital functions, being members of a pack for much of their life.

There is an opinion that it is a pack (not herd) of primitive humans served as a basis for the creation of human society. (Wikipedia)

A pack – this is serious. For example, the relationships in a wolf pack in many respects are similar to the relationships in human society, and by some measures even surpass them, in particular, with respect to wolf-veterans. Wolves take care of their elders and give them enough to eat. To be honest, it is not always observed among humans.

And yet what is the main difference between animals and plants? In what are they more “advanced”? Again, the answer is found in Kabbalah.

“We see that each animal has its own characteristic; they are not confined to the environment, but each of them has its own sensation and characteristic. …  Rather, they have their own lives, and their vitality does not depend on their friends’ lives.” (Baal HaSulam, Shamati #115)

What is the difference between an animal and human?

“Yet, they cannot feel more than their own being. In other words, they have no sensation of the other. And naturally cannot care for the other.” (Baal HaSulam, Shamati #115)

This definition requires some explanation. At first glance it seems that it is not quite right. We all know that animals feel their master’s mood, their states and attitudes. Furthermore, it is known that animals care about their kinsmen as in the example with wolves. There are even cases of self-sacrifice. All this is true, but they are instincts.

A dog feels when a person does not feel well, but the animal does not understand what shame is. A dog does not blush when he picks up food from the floor and is he is not embarrassed to walk without clothes. The animal will never lie under the knife voluntarily to lose his leg affected by gangrene. The animal does not understand that it is possible today to give someone a piece in order to take two tomorrow. It is even more impossible to imagine that the animal understands what it means “from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs,” etc.

There is a perfect illustration of feeling the fellow man that is characteristic of the human being and is not typical of animals at all.

Try to catch up on the street with any passer-by and continue to move beside him. After some time, the following thing will happen. The passer-by will begin to glance sideways, look over his shoulder, check his pockets, become nervous and worried. But you can lie close with a stranger on the beach, sit next to him in the theater, and talk to him in a queue or anywhere else. A paradox.

Question: Tell me something, Laitman, how do you come to view the Jewish people as a group destined to save the world? From where have you read such a concept or seen a similar quote. Yes, you may cite the Bible and other religious tracts or writings of other religious people who also believe as you do but aside from that how do you come to such an idea.

I am Jewish also but do not have an arrogant view of this group of people. They are a good people and a talented people but surely not a better people with a higher degree of morality than any other group who believes as they do.

I do not say that the Jewish people are not better than Jihadists! Of course they are. I do not say that the Jewish people are not better than the neo-Nazis. Of course they are. But I also do not say that the Jewish people are better than other groups of persons who also believe that Jihadists and neo-Nazis are not human beings nor act as human beings.

All things being equal, why do you possess the arrogant and false view of the Jewish people. It is exactly this view that has caused problems too many times and which I cannot tolerate.

Answer: Unfortunately, perhaps. However, it is just so, we are a special group among all the nations. I emphasize—a group, and not a nation. A nation is a group of people that has formed in a natural (earthly) way. We, however, became a nation by having assumed the idea of unity above the egoism that separates us. Until we assembled in “Abraham’s tent” from different residents of Babylon, we were egoists, like all the other Babylonians.

Humanity must achieve unity and attain similarity (balance, homeostasis) with nature. Otherwise, we are a cancerous tumor that destroys its environment, and as a result, kills itself.

Anti-Semitism is the acknowledgement of the dependency of the nations on the Jews, surmising that some kind of secret exists within us. This is exactly what I wish to reveal, both to the Jewish people and to the nations of the world. After all, the Jews too do not know why they are being hated. By the way, the article in the New York Times has become so popular that I hope to gradually enlighten all of humanity this way!

Question: Where do we discover this upper force?

Answer: We reveal the upper force in the center of our circle, within the connection between all who are sitting in the circle.

Question: If this upper force and goodness exists, then why doesn’t it calm down all of the terrorists?

Answer: The goal of this upper force is to bring all of us to resemblance and equivalence with it and transform us into bestowers, just as He is. We must be linked, united, and love each other. This is how we rise to the level of the Creator, the giver, the lover. And then we feel reality just as the Creator feels it. This is the most perfect and best state.

The Kabbalists who discover this perfected state say that the goal of creation is to give pleasure to the creatures. And giving pleasure is possible only when we raise the creation to the level of the Creator himself.

So, the only thing that will help us now is disseminating the wisdom of Kabbalah. The people of Israel must understand what condition they are in and what they must do. This is a unique people that are obligated to unite, and through this unity, they will heal all of the anti-Semitism in the world and will shield themselves from all enemies.

The moment the people of Israel unite, this unity will be extended to the whole world and compel all peoples to unite. The whole world will feel this subconsciously and they will stop blaming us and will even begin to help us. All of our previous haters will become our closest allies and helpers.

Question: Despite all the efforts, global terror is becoming increasingly radicalized. There are many new organizations that are even more extreme and cruel than the ones we have known so far.

The struggle against Al-Qaeda has been unsuccessful. What is worse, the organization called ISIS has stemmed from it and has escalated their bloody attacks. Is it possible to find the weak spot of the heads of this organization in order to affect them by this Achilles heel?

Answer: We will never be able to affect them. The only way is through a united world that will be a barrier that blocks them. In that case, the flow of volunteers joining the terror will dry up and people will actually begin to flow to our side.

We also call for unity, but universal, unlimited unity, independent of any differences. You can be black, white, red, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, or Indian, it makes no difference. All the people and all the nations in the world should become one by the power of general unity, one common framework, one human family.

These are the laws of nature that require that we be in a state of unity and balance, in a system of integral connections among us. If we keep this condition, we will feel good, while the terrorist organizations will be in a bad position.

Nature always aspires only for unity and togetherness. It is basically one integral system in which all its parts are mutually connected. Therefore, we have to be incorporated in this system in order to receive the maximum positive friendly powers from nature.

In order to do that, we have to connect all of humanity into one family and then we will find ourselves in a state of balance with nature. This is the law of balance, homeostasis, equivalence of form.

Question: Why is it necessarily that this law will work against terrorists?

Answer: Because the compatibility with nature allows us to draw the positive forces from it. Humanity just needs to connect and to unite correctly so that people will do everything in their power to create one family that lives according to the principles of mutual assistance and mutual guarantee. It should be to the extent that we will all be on an equal level and everyone will have whatever he needs in a rational sense. If we organize things this way, people will be attracted to it.

After all, we want to live in a good world that is safe and happy without great social gaps: rich and poor, lucky and outsiders, healthy and ill… Everyone should feel good and know that he lives in a world that is good and safe and that he will live a good life in a wonderful environment that takes care of him and in which he takes care of others. This is what we should attract people to and this is what they really want, but they have no leader that can fulfill it.

The Vegetative Group

Plants are one of the major groups of multicellular organisms (Wikipedia, “Plants”)

This definition, in order not to distract the reader, is taken in an abbreviated form and illustrates the theme of this book, which is that a plant is a body consisting of a set of interacting cells.

It is important to note that plants, in similarity to cells, are attracted to mutual cooperation and are very successful in it. With respect to plants, “social” terminology is used very often.

Phytosociology is a sub-section of geobotany and biogeocenology, which study plant communities relationships,and the forming these of communities in plants. (Biological Encyclopedic Dictionary “Phytosociology”)

What would you say regarding this definition?

A vegetative association is the basic unit of classification of plant communities (phytocoenosis). (Academic Dictionary)

But the most convincing in the sociality of plants is the following definition.

A grouping of plants is a complex of plants from phytocenosis to random settlements of plants. (Ecological Dictionary “Grouping of Vegetation”)

There is a full set of terms related to human communities: relationships, associations, settlements and even grouping.

It seems that plants have gone far in social terms from its predecessors – cells.

Among other things, they are able to transmit information to each other over long distances and also use intermediaries from other biological communities for this purpose.

To prove the existence of this communication method, scientists from China used several pairs of tomato seedlings connected by a mushroom network. Upon receiving the signal of an attack on their neighbors, the plants reacted by releasing substances which spoil the taste of the leaves or even kill the disease-causing parasites.

“It’s a very robust system that could allow for the movement of signal proteins over many metres,” Durall says. Mycorrhizal networks even tie together plants of different species, which means different species might be able to communicate with each other. Last year they found a network weaving its way through an entire Canadian forest, with each tree connected to dozens of its neighbours over distances of 30 metres.” (Source: New Scientist)

That’s right. Socially, plants are far advanced. However, a generalized conclusion is needed to complete the picture. Indeed, how do plants stand out from other forms of nature?

In our opinion, Kabbalah gives a very original, albeit peculiar, interpretation of social relationships in the vegetative world.

“Yet, as we can see in corporeal flora, even though they are mobile and expand in width and length, still, all the plants have a single property. The Torah, Book of Leviticus, “Acharei Mot” 16:21-16:22: He (Aaron) is to lay both hands on the head of the live goat and confess over it all the wickedness and rebellion of the Israelites—all their sins—and put them on the goat’s head. He shall send the goat away into the wilderness in the care of someone appointed for the task. The goat will carry on itself all their sins to a remote place; and the man shall release it in the wilderness.

Letting a goat into the wilderness stands for releasing the desires that are as yet impossible to correct nor suitable for working with for the sake of bestowal. It’s the basis of the notion of a scapegoat.

The other goat, the one that is killed, symbolizes the egoistic desires of a person who is still at an animate level and who is in the process of rising to the speaking level. People use this animal as food, i.e., they implement their desires for the sake of bestowal

Laying both hands on the head of the live goat means controlling our thoughts that we as yet cannot refine nor use for the sake of others.

Question: What does send the goat away into the wilderness mean?

Answer: From the material point of view, the wilderness is the place where wild goats live and die naturally.

From the spiritual point of view, they signify the desires that we reject and that are considered dead. Killing them is beyond our power, only a desert can cope with this task because we ban ourselves from using these desires, i.e., we fill them with emptiness that eventually kills them. And then there is the resurrection of the dead i.e., the desires that are subject to correction are revived.

The Torah, Book of Leviticus, “Acharei Mot” 16:26: The man who releases the goat as a scapegoat must… This is speaking about a messenger who takes the goat far away into the desert and leaves him there. In other words, the one who has to let his most powerful and huge internal desires go. Only a priest (Kohen) can do it. If not a Kohen, then only a special envoy can cope with this task. The person who does it experiences huge internal tension.

The envoy then returns and washes himself, since he was connected with impure forces, with the desert. He has to internally purify himself. After he rejects all desires and thoughts that cannot be used correctly, that is, when he sends them to the desert, he has to clean himself. It happens under the influence of the Light of Hassadim that is represented by water.

Question: You said that if the Jews in Israel got even one millimeter closer to each other it would bring about major changes in the whole world. Why is this place so important and why does the connection have to be from Israel?

Answer: According to the spiritual roots and the corporeal branches that match them, the Jews have to be and to connect in the land of Israel. This connection will not work out anywhere else in the world. We will not even be able to think about connection and what is more to fulfill it. This is the reason that Abraham was told “Leave your land…”

Question: What can the Jews who live abroad do in that case?

Answer: The Jews abroad have to support the connection in Israel. They should also connect but only if we connect in the land of Israel and they will support us. It is here in the land of Israel that the connection should be.

Question: Is that enough to simply establish the connection or should we understand its root and where it stems from?

Answer: We will gradually understand that, as it says: “The hearts are attracted by the actions.” First we have to try to connect, even without understanding exactly how it happens, but simply fulfilling the advice of Kabbalists and taking an example from others. After all, we are not taught anything that is bad or dangerous, but only about connection and mutual understanding that is attained by workshops and different activities together.

It is pleasant and necessary because without it we are facing a disaster, and it is certainly true that when the Jews in Israel get even one millimeter closer great changes take place in other nations according to their size. Everything that happens in Israel is multiplied by one million in the nations of the world. The Jewish nation is very small, so a small change in Israel brings about huge changes all over the world. It is as if we turn on a tap by only one millimeter, but all the nations receive a great filling by it.

Question: Why is unity felt among the Israeli nation only in hard times, in times of war? When we feel such pressure it is felt like labor pains and in ordinary times everything calms down.

Answer: A state of war is a time when we have to start explaining things. After all, people are terrified, hurting and mourning the soldiers that were killed, and so they are more sensitive. In this time it is possible to explain to a person that there is a way of living without pain, that there is a method that raises us from this bad and low world to a beautiful high summit.

If people only listen, it will lead to a great outcome. By the connection between us we protect our soldiers. But in the meantime, it remains as nice words for most people.

Question: How can we learn how to connect?

Answer: We learn to connect in workshops, roundtables, and home circles. This is not a learning process but a process of correction. We learn by actions.

The media were developed for this cause, so that it will be possible to reach everyone. We can have roundtables on TV that will move a person more than a dramatic film and he can participate in the discussion emotionally. Everything depends on how tense the situation is and the tension will not go away. However, we have a chance to connect, and then the success is guaranteed. Join us and together we will succeed!
