The Way From Chaos To Harmony, Part 2

Laitman_117Question: The Torah tells us that at first there was darkness and chaos from which life was later created. How can harmony arise from chaos?

Answer: All this is said only in relation to man. And even if it seems as though we are talking about the periods of evolution that ostensibly took place before the appearance of man, this is wrong. Evolution makes sense only with the inclusion of a person who is beginning to use the whole world, and all changes occur only with respect to him

Only after the creation of consciousness and with respect to it can we talk about the creation of the world, the universe, the planet Earth, all systems, and humanity. Before the appearance of man, there seemed to be nothing. And when we are talking about darkness and chaos, they also exist only in relation to man because his consciousness is distorted, that is, opposed to the ideal system we exist in.

A person does not understand or feel this system, that is, he does not perceive it either in mind or heart. He sees the reality projected by his faulty qualities against the background of an immutable and perfect world.

He does not see the upper, spiritual world or the ideal system, but sees himself with respect to this system; that is, he sees the difference between the one and the other, between the qualities of man and the qualities of nature. Therefore, it seems to him that the world is dark and disorderly.

All of nature exhibits bestowal, love, connection, completing each other, whereas the qualities of man are the exact opposite: receiving, disorder, and the inability to connect with others and complete them. Everyone acts guided by their own benefit to the detriment of others, and therefore sees disorder in the world.

Disorder is a quality arising from the nature of man, from his egoism.

After all, if everyone thinks about himself and is guided by his own benefit, without taking others into account, he stops the entire system, like a faulty gear.

Instead of connecting with the rest and turning together like a working clock, everyone spins in his own direction, as he pleases. As a result, we resist each other, break our gears, and the whole mechanism almost fails to work.

There is another system that punishes and corrects, showing how bad we feel because of this egoistic attitude. Therefore, out of hopelessness, we begin little by little to take each other into account. Although these mutual considerations are also egoistic because the main thing for me is my own good, I do take the others into account only when necessary. It turns out, we somehow manage to exist but our lives are full of suffering and chaos. Chaos and disorder in our lives are the result of everyone being controlled by the power of their own egoism and thinking only about their own good rather than the benefit of the common system. This is the main reason for the disorder that manifests in all areas of our lives.

The Way From Chaos To Harmony, Part 1

laitman_423.03Question: Chaos and disorder are a part of our life. Usually a person strives to determine laws and put everything in order, but nature always knocks us out of balance and plunges us into chaos. Why is our life constantly getting out of control and our world moving toward a constantly growing disorder?

Answer: The wisdom of Kabbalah asserts that, in fact, we exist in the world of Infinity, in an endless Light, in an ideal, optimally organized system. This system is constant and never changes because it is absolutely perfect.

The system is called the world of Infinity because it has no limits and is in an ideal, immutable order, without any need for correcting or changing any of its elements. But a person existing within this system must constantly change. We have informational genes, records (Reshimot) of impressions, states, desires, and thoughts that are being constantly updated.

A spiral of such records about thoughts (that is, impressions in the mind) and desires (impressions in the heart) is constantly unwinding in a person, and he is changing. Therefore, it seems to us that the world is changing, which is, in fact, immutable. We see a constant, beautiful, infinite Light in front of us, but our perception changes all the time.

If we approach the Light thorough our properties, then we feel good, and if we change in the opposite direction, then we feel bad in all sorts of ways. This, in fact, determines all our life. Therefore, we can talk about chaos or harmony only in relation to a specific person and the world that he feels in his constantly updated organs of perception. Because of this, it seems to us that the world is changing and we are changing, but all these changes exist only in relation to ourselves. And if we see chaos around us, it means this chaos exists exclusively within us.

This can lead to despair because it turns out that I do not know where I really am and what is happening. I do not see the world of Infinity because I am locked inside my distorted imagination and I perceive my own properties and thoughts constantly changing according to the program that is unknown to me. That is, I see my own film, the form of the world that my thoughts and desires project to me.

Question: But if my thoughts and desires are revealed according to the program of development, then there is an order in them.

Answer: The order really exists, but it is not known to us. And if we react inappropriately to their disclosure, then we enter this order with incorrect properties, actions, and thoughts, and this changes our development. This is what our life consists of and it is happening moment after moment.

Who’s Controlling The World?

laitman_263Question from Facebook: How do you feel about the United States? Many say that the United States deserves catastrophes, so it is necessary and the quicker it is cleansed, the better for all.

Answer: I don’t myself concern myself with that because all that is in the world comes from one single force—the Creator. He controls everything: He raises and lowers different countries, peoples, and parts of the world; sends hurricanes and earthquakes; explodes nuclear reactors, etc.

That is how the upper control works, wanting to shake us up and bring us to order so that we wake up a little and stop being constantly submerged in our own foolishness.

Therefore, no one is to blame: not the Unites States, not Russia, no one. Everything is controlled by the Creator. It is written in Kabbalistic sources that the hearts of those controlling the world are in the hands of the Creator. That’s why I don’t have any particular opinion, neither critical or approving, not toward one particular system or toward a particular government.

I think that all of us together, like little children, need to sit down and begin to study the system of the upper management and only then will we understand how much we really need to do this.

And the first to sit down and really study this science should be those who are managing the world because they channel the actions of the Creator to the rest of us. I very much hope that they will listen to this advice and then, in understanding and compliance with the upper control, the world will be able to come to a state of calm.

Is It Possible To Avoid Suffering?

laitman_567.01Question: If we could experience the suffering that people experience during natural disasters or wars, would we have the possibility of choosing our path more correctly?

Answer: No, in this case, a person simply obeys and submits to blows; this is not choice. Nature is specifically interested in the conscious choice of the next level of development; otherwise, it is not human choice.

The transition from the still to the vegetative level and from the vegetative to the animate level happens under the influence of the blows of nature, and a person in our world is a result of that development.

Presently it is up to us to move consciously to the next level, the level of speaking in a completely different manner, and therefore, the method of the wisdom of Kabbalah comes to us in the form of a system of information. Because precisely after the developmental states of still, vegetative, and animate (where we are today), there is a conscious tendency in us to rise above the personal self.

We are in an intermediary state. For example, between the level of the still and the vegetative there is the intermediary stage called corals, between the level of the vegetative and the animate there is the level of the “dog of the field,” and between the level of the animate and Adam there is the level of the ape. So between the level of the Adam of our world and the level of the Adam in the upper world there is the Kabbalist.

A Kabbalist is a person who, on one hand, includes within himself the beastly properties of this world that are characteristic of a person in our world and, on the other hand, the characteristics of the next levels of the upper world.

The ascent of a Kabbalist to the upper world doesn’t happen under the influence of the instinctive forces of nature; it happens consciously. Therefore, the wisdom of Kabbalah teaches us about freedom of choice, work in a group, and how to create a special state within and around us for the purpose of being changed.

Apparently by ourselves, we take ourselves out of a state in which the ego manages us and we rise to the next level in which we balance the ego through the good force that is revealed in us opposite to the ego. In this way, we exist with two forces, both a negative egoistic force and a positive altruistic force.

In the nature of our world, the altruistic force doesn’t exist, so we must attract it. And then we exist in the connection, in the balance of these two forces. This will be our next state called the middle line.

I hope that we will consciously, using freewill, come to the right decision, and that we will reach this state without world wars.

Question: If we make the right choice, will we avoid an apocalypse and natural disasters?

Answer: Yes, this is so even if at least a small part of humanity will understand that the only way to prevent natural disasters is to follow the method that is given to us in the wisdom of Kabbalah. We need to recognize that there is no other way out.

Question: What is the reason for giving blows to humanity if this is not useful for development anyway?

Answer: The accumulation of suffering brings humanity to a state in which it, nevertheless, begins to think about what to do, meaning that the sufferings balance the human ego.

For example, if a child doesn’t want to go to school, his parents begin to limit his pleasures: They take away his ball, after that his bicycle, and so on until they don’t leave him any choice but to agree to go to school.

But even in this situation, freedom of choice exists, the possibility of choice remains. We are always found under some limitation; choice is possible not only when there is unlimited freedom.

This is the manner in which the possibility to choose spirituality, between reward and punishment, exists in us. Therefore, it is our obligation to understand all the conditions and circumstances that bring us to the unique situation called “freedom.”

Why Does Nature Punish Us? Part 2

laitman_765.1Question: What is so special about today’s ecological situation? What is the difference between an earthquake or volcanic eruption that occurs today and the ones that happened a thousand or two hundred years ago?

Answer: The reason for these natural cataclysms is different. A thousand years ago, the cause of an earthquake was in the natural process of evolution that sought to advance us and for all of nature to balance.

The cause came from the force of nature itself, and now the cause is in our own negligence. Instead of bringing all parts of nature to connection, a person causes universal separation.

Until now, nature itself exerted pressure on us in order to develop all its degrees—inanimate, vegetative, animate and human—to a certain level. Presently, we have already reached this predetermined level of development and entered the stage of so-called “integral humanity.”

The world turns into a small village where everyone is connected with each other, and now we ourselves are responsible for maintaining the balance in nature. It turns out that each problem caused by a lack of balance points to our incorrect behavior.

If previously hurricanes and earthquakes forced us to advance in developing technology and economy, today, they simply humble us. It is not enough to react to the blows of nature by the development of technology; today, social changes, and the correction of social connections are already necessary. If we do not react correctly, then we aggravate the situation.

Why Does Nature Punish Us? Part 1

laitman_738Question: The earth is our common home but lately chaos has been ruling in it. Over the past year, a record number of natural disasters has occurred: severe fires, floods, and hurricanes that impacted entire countries as well as individuals, and resulted in enormous material and emotional damage.

The quiet life is coming to an end. It is known that the earth has gone through various geological periods, some of which were very unstable. Are these ecological catastrophes inevitable as a result of the earth’s natural course of development or are they something exceptional that can be avoided?

Answer: All of these catastrophes could have been avoided since nature only becomes unstable because people cannot balance it. Nature has always pushed us toward development by creating difficult conditions for us, such as heat, cold, earthquakes, and epidemics. After all, a person only begins to move when he feels bad.

We are egoists and we do not make the slightest movement if we do not feel that it will produce some benefit for ourselves.

Therefore, nature is forced to send us suffering in order to encourage us to develop. Then we begin to develop science and economics, and begin to study ourselves and the environment around us in search of a way to organize safer and more comfortable lives for ourselves.

All of this development is necessary only because of the problems we experience. It is known that if we want our children to succeed, we have to demand this from them and force them to study well. This is the same way nature has developed us throughout the thousands of years of human history. From the moment humans climbed down from the trees and left the caves, we have been continually developing as a result of the “human” problems, which are one level above animalistic ones.

This means that nature does not just beat us like all the animals, forcing us to seek food, burrow, and take care of our offspring, but it loads us with all sorts of problems designed to develop our minds and sensations. Due to this, we live, not just by animal instincts, but we have developed into a more human society. We must build our lives because our children need care for ten to twenty years as they grow up.

Nature pushes us, not only through the primitive desires such as food, sex, and reproduction, but it also directs us to develop science, economic systems, and education. It forces us to discover and explore new continents and to explore nature in order to improve our lives.

That is, nature pushed humans to become smarter. Human development is, thus, in contrast to the development of inanimate matter, plants, and animals. Besides, nature has directed humans to develop sensually and so we develop in the areas of culture, education, and art: painting, music, and literature, which all are determined by the present state of humanity.

We do not live like animals that meet for a short period of time to produce offspring and then split up. People build families and countries, and use language to communicate and pass knowledge from one generation to another. This is a whole system that differs qualitatively from the animate level of development.

However, all of this intellectual development is not enough because nature demands even more from us. It wants us to be connected into one general kind system, mutually complementing each other. Yet, we are not capable of this because, by our nature, we remain as egoistic animals.

Within each person, the same animalistic egoist remains hidden, and all of the knowledge that he has acquired through thousands of years of evolution has only helped him to use his environment more cunningly and for the purpose of greater personal profit. We create social systems that deter us from eating one another; however, we still try to profit from each other. That is, we implement boundaries that state: what’s mine is mine and what’s yours is yours.

Yet, this also does not work very well because egoism constantly grows and burns within us. Everyone wants to bend the whole world to suit himself. Thus, we are not able to unite into one common, harmonious system. This is the whole problem: human society, instead of progressing and becoming smarter, is beginning to descend and turn toward the source of all evil, becoming the most harmful creature on earth.

Humans destroy the inanimate, vegetative, and animalistic forms of nature, and poison the soil and the atmosphere. There are thousands of tons of cosmic debris that rotate around the earth, the remnants of satellites. We do not do wise or rational things because of our egoism and, therefore, we cannot be correctly included into the system of nature.

The general, integral system presses in on us according to the level of our development. From year to year, we were supposed to develop further and connect with each other correctly, in a beneficial way, thereby positively influencing human society as well as all the other levels of nature.

However, instead of this, we have revealed our complete oppositeness to nature and have become increasingly corrupted. Accordingly, our influence on nature has become worse and it is, therefore, not surprising that nature brings us many more blows than before.

Two American Tragedies And The Parallels Between Them

Dr. Michael LaitmanThe Manhattan terrorist attack occurred not far from where the twin towers used to stand. A few years after their destruction, conspiracy theories about the Jews’ involvement in the incident started spreading around the world.

In every evil the world tries to find the “Jewish trace.” I would not be surprised if this too will be blamed on us, and maybe even faster than in the past. Why?

It is written in the tractate “Yevamot” 63, “No calamity comes to the world but for Israel.” From the point of view of common sense, it sounds religious, mystical, and even absurd. But the fact remains that this is how the world “traditionally” perceives the role of the Jewish people. No matter our contributions to the world, it doesn’t see any good in us, only harm.

This attitude comes through in social media, politics, official documents, decisions of international organizations, even in Google searches. We keep being assigned blame for things that do not have the slightest relation to us. And it becomes even more urgent after tragic events.

The real cause behind all this is really us. But just not in the sense that it seems to the confused the world. It is just that the Jewish people are the carriers of the methodology for unity, the potential for peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding that everyone needs today.

But we ignore this treasure; we pretend that it doesn’t even exist. And then calamities come to remind us, and the world, that it is the nation of Israel that has the ability to give an example of healthy social connections, an example of rising above hatred to unity.

Of course the Jews did not plan the terrorist attacks. But we did not prevent it either, although we could have. This is our responsibility. This is why we are hated now and will be loved when the people will see good progress on our part.

laitman_448.4Question: What is your prediction regarding climate regulation? What awaits us? Is there something to strive for?

Answer: I see no special solution in the actions that climatologists propose. I do not think that human egoism, especially at the government level, in the modern world, with the current politics, will allow an opportunity to somehow negotiate and solve emerging problems. I do not believe in that at all.

On the contrary, we see that from year to year there is a stupefaction of governments. They are not able to understand and manage the processes that take place. Therefore, we see the emergence of growing problems.

As I see it, people will begin to realize that they have no other choice but to get closer to each other in making decisions. This will force those in power and governments to change their behavior, and maybe then countries and governments will get closer to each other. And most importantly, from all the problems and suffering, the awareness will emerge in people that unification is the only salvation.

But not just because it is good that we help each other, but because by uniting we connect to nature harmoniously. After all, each part of nature, except humans, is harmonious and completely interconnected. Only human society opposes nature with its egoism.

When we realize, from our internality, that this is the cause of all problems, this realization will lead us to harmony with nature. And everything will be balanced.

For that to happen, we must introduce the education of people as an integral part of the world. I consider this to be a necessity.

There Is No Homeland

515.02Question: The government of Catalonia wants to gain independence from Spain. What makes them want to break off and divide into small kingdoms?

Answer: This is natural! Today there are, say, 200 nations in the world. If this keeps going, then in the next few decades this number will reach 250 or even 300. I have no doubt about it.

Remark: Futurists say that, on the contrary, people will unite into larger cities.

Response: No, there won’t be any unification! Like in the past, there will be fortresses, city-states surrounded by enclosed fortifications.

There contradictions to unity will be in every country: the north versus the south, the west versus the east. They will divide into clans or any other type of division.

Why does this happen? Egoism grows and demands a separate space for itself. This is why we will revert back to family unity. Moreover, everyone will have their own apartment, a fortress with bulletproof glass. I will sit in my home, open a window, and drones will fly inside delivering me pizza with Coca-Cola and then fly away.

Meanwhile, I will sit at my computer, not wanting to know anything. Leave me alone, this is my turf, this is my kingdom. I depict the most perfect picture there can be, where I am the parliament, I am the governor, I am everything.

Question: So everything has lost its value. There is only me and my egoism, and that’s it? I don’t believe anyone, I don’t want to be around them, I hate them.

Answer: This is the best form of governance!

Question: Is this a real picture?

Answer: In principle, yes. But we won’t reach it, nature won’t allow us to; it has its own plans.

Question: In other words, people will divide, but what will happen next?

Answer: Before this happens, there will be a collapse. If humanity learned from its mistakes, this would go on forever. But nature has a plan that it is always presenting to us, putting pressure on us from its end. Therefore, we won’t be able to annihilate each other.

Question: What will happen then?

Answer: We will be forced to unite! Forced toward happiness with a rod!

If there was no goal of creation, where we practically are already, and if the reverse processes were not coming to us from there, which we perceive as suffering, then there would be chaos. The things that scientists, philosophers and psychologists envision today are all products of their lack of understanding of the goal and the program set by nature.

Thus, even if Catalonia separates now, it won’t do any good. Later all the borders will be annulled anyway. The government of Catalonia will have no one to govern because the people of Catalonia will be completely indifferent to the government and to everything else.

On the other hand, we see the process that is unfolding; people don’t care where they live.

Question: So the concept of a homeland is disappearing, being erased?

Answer: What homeland!? Who or what can be considered a home? The land? But there’s other land everywhere. The people? Same thing. The culture? It is common to all.

Question: From the standpoint of the upper providence, is it correct to get rid of these notions, such as my place, my homeland, I will live here, I will die here, and so on?

Answer: All the nationalities, nations, and governments will be leveled; everything will wither away.

Question: What will I call home?

Answer: A good environment. And that’s all.

The Future Formation Is The Unification of Humankind

Question: Was making a living in the material world created by the Creator in order to correct the human ego, his evil inclination?

Answer: Of course, material work was created by the Creator and advanced in the evolutionary process of humankind so as to bring us closer to our correction.

However, our correction does not manifest by doing corporeal work. The truth is that in the process of evolution we have gone through various social, political, and governmental formations in order to come to the state that the world is experiencing now for the first time in thousands of years of egoistic development.

But, nowadays, this development is nearing its end. Money will gradually lose its power. Jobs will pay nothing and will disappear on their own. Accordingly, the division of humankind based upon wealth and poverty or strength and weakness will become blurred and lose its boundaries and hierarchies.

All that egoism has created in human society, breaking it down into all kinds of ranks, will blur and lose importance. Therefore, the concept of work, its value, and its necessity, which were built upon egoism, will begin to disappear.

Question: But will the poor and the rich remain?

Answer: No. In the current process of stratification that society is going through, maybe, just a few thousand people will be rich and all the rest will be poor. This means that a small group of people will remain at the top and the rest of the billions of people will be at the bottom. But humanity cannot live like this.

It is not socialism, communism, antagonisms, and everything else that matters. The truth is that nature itself will drive us toward unification. Therefore, humankind has to go through these states of stratification in order to understand that there is no place for them anymore.

According to the wisdom of Kabbalah, nature will drive us toward the understanding that the next formation will be based on the unification of all people on equal terms because neither money nor ego nor salary can be the standard of success.

The concept of success is taking on a completely different framework. Success no longer flows based on a hierarchical structure from the bottom up, but from the outside to the inside instead. The one who will work more on behalf of unification will begin to extract more energy, a special feeling, harmony, and a resemblance to the upper nature.

These people will become truly great, powerful, and rich. But this will happen only if humanity recognizes that true wealth is the connection between us.

The focus of a person’s attention and work will become unification. This will be the real work.

Question: But will the assessment of whether a person is happy or not remain?

Answer: Definitely! Moreover, the higher and lower ranks will remain. But people will be evaluated according to a new criterion: how much they contribute to unification.

Question: Will they be happier then?

Answer: Not only will they be happier, they will also be more respected and more revered. And there will be a huge competition in this regard.

Question: What about the movie industry and theatre? Will they remain?

Answer: Of course. Everything that has spiritual potential will remain including art, which will express the inner aspirations of a person, more and more. And everything else will exist only to dress and feed our physical bodies and to give ourselves shelter.
